The Wife and I were In Hernando taking care of some business. We decided to grab lunch at Windy City Grill. The last time we went here was during Covid. It was decent, but I knew it would be much better once Covid was over. I was right! I got the Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza. It was very good. I cant belive Im saying this, but it almost could have had a little less cheese. The crust was thin and crisp. Just the way I like it. My wife decided to try the Chicken and Mushroom Pasta. It was also very good.... As an appetizer we decided on the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. With toasted bread. I was very impressed. It was cooked to perfection. The inside was very clean and the atmosphere was nice. I will definitely come back sooner than three years. I want to try the sandwiches. I watched several come out that looked amazing! Went here for the first time, heard there was new management and decided to try it with a friend who's already been here before the new management. And it was terrible! The fried catfish wasn't good, the fries were too oily, and the chicken Parmesan tomato sauce was almost watered down. The other people were also very loud--too loud. They're all next to one another, there's no need to yell. And our waitress was never checking on us--but checked on others MANY times. She'd only checked on us at least two-three times max. I walked in to lots of empty tables and said we had a party of 6. She said that there would be an hour and half wait. I told her that we would just split up. She said "we aren't allowed to split parties". I said two of us were a husband and wife and they would just sit with themselves. She's 9 months pregnant and for some reason wanted this place. She said "you walked in together so we won't let you sit at two tables". I quickly remembered why we quit going to this place. Won't be back. read more

I called several times tonight to place a pick up order. They never answer their phone. I came in to ask to make a to go order & the bartender said they're closed. There were several people in there and it was 9:15pm. I asked her when they were closed and she refused to answer. I also asked why no one ever answered their phone phone. She looked at me like I was crazy and huffed and walked away and then aggressively turned around and said I think I've talked to you enough. There were multiple people getting food placed on their table while I was waiting to even be noticed & then she was so rude. I still don't know when they take their last orders or why they don't answer their phones. I live within walking distance & this has been an ongoing issue for 4 years. I honestly understand why people don't support local, because they make up their own rules on a day to day basis and I feel like I'm being bullied from the time I walk through the doors. It really sucks because the food is good & the service makes you so angry and it's not even worth the trouble. I won't support this local toxic environment. read more

Lunchtime Caesar Salad with grill chicken. The good- it was a large portion of lettuce. The bad, way too much dressing, only a couple of tomatoes and the chicken? What's up with chopping up the chicken and mixing it in the salad? When you pay an extra 5 bucks for the chicken I would expect to see a chicken fillet sliced sitting on top of the salad. Nice hometown dining spot, it has the "everyone knows everyone", feel to it, seating is intimate, lighting is just bright enough to see and not too bright to not be romantic. Menu options are a bit scattered and there is only one burger on the menu, which I found to be very odd, however I ordered it and it was amazing. Perfectly grilled, Kaiser bun and just common old school topping, lettuce, tomato and cheese. Their fried fish is the best in Hernando, and I mean amazing. We were there for a special occasion. Table of about 11. Our waiter was nice and patient. 3 complaints. We drove 3 hrs. to eat there. We had always wanted to try WCG and they were highly recommended, so we were very excited to eat there! Any way, I wanted a steak, (most of us did) we didn't know there wouldn't be any! That was very disappointing. Ended up ordering the porkchop, garlic mashed potatoes and grilled green beans, it was all so salty I only had a few bites, couldn't finish it. I was not impressed at all. The appetizers were decent. Also we asked a waitress if they could sing "happy birthday" for our special guest and she was very rude, from her voice to her facial expression, and body language. Like we were annoying her! I understand being busy and stressed out, I was a waitress for many years, but no need to be rude to your customer's ! We tasted a few different items, and the chicken fingers and dirty chips won the day for us. Cajun spicy shrimp had zero spice and were served with regular cocktail sauce. Good, but in no way any kind of spicy. My wife has grilled chicken sandwich and she loved the taste, but had a really hard time cutting it and getting through some fatty gristle. So now there's 2 places I don't want to return to. Why, in these times would you turn down takeout? How is that harder than waiting on a table for 45 mins or so? Take the order, give a timeframe, hand it to the cook, walk-in, pay, tip, gone! REALLY!?!?!?!? I still tip 20+%! Make a mandatory tip if that's the issue. Went for the first time for a date night with my husband. They were extremely busy, but we were seated in about 20 minutes. Sarah Grace was our waitress and she was WONDERFUL!! We ordered mozzarella sticks (excellent) as an appetizer, he had the pizza (he said it was fantastic) and I had the catfish. The catfish was some of the best I've ever had. Perfectly breaded and fried, excellent tartar sauce and really good hush puppies. I would have liked more hush puppies, there were only two little ones, but they were delicious. FYI: I'm a Ranch Dressing connoisseur and theirs is phenomenal. House made for sure, just like the tartar sauce. I'm going to do pizza next time, my husband ordered meat pizza and I don't eat pork or beef but it looked great! We left happy and full and the bill was extremely reasonable! Excellent food, Service is good as well. We eat there at least twice a week and have never had anything we didn't like. We love the separation of the bar from the restaurant and use both sides for dinner with family on one side and friends on the bar side. The best in Hernando if you ask me. read more

We came in contact with several people that worked there and every single one was pleasant and smiled .
