Not only did I have my boiler tuned up (with a small repair, uncharged as a new customer) I also received a tutorial on how to light the pilot and keep the boiler in good shape. Leon went into details that past repairmen left out -like a thorough cleaning to avoid future problems. I also like that Leon is keenly knowledgeable about both new and old boiler systems. He was able to compare my relatively old boiler to the most modern. He knew all of the pros and cons which allow me to plan for the future. I have a 20,000 BTU in wall unit that needed servicing. After many hours of research I found Leon. From the initial contact he responded immediately. Unlike many AC companies. His day was already booked but was able to fit me in the evening. His honesty was so appreciated. I have a family member who is in the same business, but lives in another state. Short version: Had to reschedule 3 times due to weather, I had to contact him each time to ask if he was coming. He never preemptively called/messaged me to let me know he wouldn't be able to make it. For the 4th appointment he told me he would be at my house in the morning. The time frame passed without a call/message from him. I reached out to him and he told me he was stuck at another job and he would come later on in the day. He did not show up during that rescheduled time frame and again did not bother to call/message me to let me know. Long Version: My mini split AC stopped cooling so I found Amerikhomes on Yelp and Leon said he would be able to diagnose and fix my problem. We set up an appointment for 5/6 in the morning. The night before I realized it would rain and since the unit is mounted outdoors he probably would not be able to do the job so I messaged him and we rescheduled for the following week. With my terrible luck, the forecast was rain again on that day. I message him again, and he said he would not be able to make it and we rescheduled. Repeat one more time. Never once during those 3 times did he call/message me to let me know he wouldn't be able to make it due to the weather. If I didn't message him each time the night before I probably would have been waiting at home all day for him. After all that fun, we rescheduled for Friday 5/25 between 9-10am. The forecast was bright and sunny so I didn't message him the night before like the previous times. 10 am rolls by and he hasn't shown up so I message him asking where he is. He tells me he is stuck at another job and won't be able to make it until the afternoon. We reschedule for later on in the day. Once again the appointment time comes and goes and he is nowhere to be seen and surprise surprise there is no message or call from him letting me know he won't be able to make it. His lack of communication is the main reason for the one star review. Maybe he doesn't check the weather, so the previous 3 appointments I can let slide. The last appointment though, he knew he was running way over schedule for his earlier job and didn't bother to let me know. It literally takes 30 seconds or less to shoot me a message saying he's delayed. He had two chances on that day to do it and he didn't. I'm sure his work is fine based on other reviews. If you are going to use though, make sure you are proactive in contacting him because he will not contact you if he is not able to make it. read more

I was looking for an air condition repair and service company and find Amerikhoumes with super great 5 stars reviews, the only few complains they had was about not keeping appointments on time. I decided to hire him anyway. Leon is a hard working professional who will take his time and do everything to solve problems and satisfy a client. Tropical storm Ida left a good 2 to 3 feet of water in my basement which caused my A.O Smith gas-fired hot water heater to stop working as moisture got into the unit. Despite a very busy schedule, Leon was able to fit me into his very busy schedule within 24 hours of my original call and carefully took out and dried out the critical control board, then reinstalled it. He got the unit working within an hour and save the potential expense and delay of having to get a new control board, or worse yet, having to replace the entire boiler. Leon is the best I've ever had come out to my house in an emergency. I came home from work one day back in May to find my basement flooded. I immediately checked the boiler and sure enough that was the source of the flood. After reading the rave reviews on Yelp I decided to call Amerikhomes. There was no answer but I left a voicemail and Leon promptly called me back within 20 minutes. He was very busy on other emergency service calls but promised he would make every effort to call me back within a couple of hours to see if he could fit me in his schedule. Within about 3 hours he called back and said he could try to make it at around 10pm. At about 10:15 he called to say he was on his way. When he arrived he went straight to work. After a quick look he knew that my boiler more than likely had a leak since the combustion chamber was flooded with water. I thought he was going to end the visit right there by telling me I needed a new boiler, charge me for the service call and be on his way. This is not how Leon does things. He is very dedicated to doing whatever is necessary to try and get your system running again. He started by opening the combustion chamber to let out the water and was very meticulous in cleaning everything as he went along. He then checked to make sure the nozzle didn't get damaged from the water. Then he turned the water fill on to see where the leak was. Since the water level passed the maximum fill in the sight glass before the water started to trickle into the combustion chamber he knew the leak was from the top of one of the sections. He concluded that the auto fill sensor must be dirty and sent a false low water signal to the auto fill which then stayed on overfilling the boiler and causing the flooding of the combustion chamber. After all of this he gave me the bad news I was expecting from the beginning... "You need a new boiler" That still didn't stop Leon from going over and above to get my boiler running... even if it was just enough to get me through until I could get the boiler replaced. He explained that as long as I keep the water level within the proper range that the boiler would still run and not leak water. I would still be losing water from the steam escaping from the crack in the section but between the auto fill and me checking it on a regular basis I could get through until I have the boiler replaced. He finished cleaning everything out. checked to make sure my auto fill was working correctly and tried to fire up the boiler. The sound of the boiler firing and keeping a flame was music to my ears. No, Leon was still not finished. He would not leave until he made absolute sure that the auto fill was working correctly so I would not end up with another flood. Here we are 7 months later.... My boiler is still going. I know I have to replace it but because of Leon's dedication to help in any way he can has made it possible for me to save money for the new boiler and to decide if I'm going to stay with oil or switch to gas. And when the time comes, Leon from Amerikhomes Heating & AC will be the only person I will consider to replace my boiler and to take care of all my heating and AC service needs in the future. read more

Leon was amazing! I needed him to do routine maintenance on my oil fired boiler. He arrived right on time and took his time doing it, explaining everything to me and answering all my questions. He also took care of getting my fireplace working for the first time in years, and also diagnosed the problem I had with not getting the steam up to my attic radiators. Finally, an attic that is not freezing in the winter for the first time since I moved in 15 years ago. Other technicians I brought in for the boiler maintenance never bothered to even try to figure it out. Leon truly took his time and was always determined to figure things out to my satisfaction. He is a general HVAC guy but he will be my first call for any heater problems in the future and A/C problems. I selected leon because he had so many good reviews. I had no heat or hot water from a very old myson apollo boiler (supplied hot water to an aqua-mate). He came and managed to revive this very old boiler. The transformer stopped working. Both extrol tanks were full and the pressure relief valve popped while he was working in it. He replaced and fixed everything... but a day later, the backflow preventer leaked causing thousands of dollars damage below. I brought him back to replace the backflow preventer and an old taco valve. While working on it, the boiler cracked. I don't know if he caused this, because it was a very old system, but he could (or should) have suggested replacing instead of fixing it. It was a very old system. The damages ended up in the thousands and his bill for two visits (labor and materials) was slightly over a thousand. A second plumber came by and a compression valve leon put on burst. It is true he did not want to put on a compression valve, but because that was the only available valve, he did it. But he did not install it with a good fit, so it leaked. I am conflicted to post this as he is a very nice intelligent guy and worked very hard, but this is my experience... hopefully a fluke. If you have a very old boiler, be wary of trying to fix it. read more

I longed for finding a trustworthy service person for the boiler and water heater. Now I can say I found someone I can trust. 3 or 4 months ago, at the beginning of winter, I found another service man through yelp, who has more five star reviews than anybody else. But it turned out to be a horrible experience. I asked him to do maintenance, but after he started the boiler, he seemed his work is done. I reminded him I need maintenance, what he said stunned me,"it looks good". What? I couldn't believe my ears, looking good is enough? Then he realized he might be too much and started checking here and there, very superficially. I was very disappointed. I believe when that other guy started, he was also very nice and attentive, otherwise he won't got so many 5 star reviews. But since so many good reviews on yelp can bring him a lot of customers, he became contempt. So sometimes the second best is better. I hope Leon will never become a man like that. I have a 14 year old gas boiler installed new in 2003 and gave me insignificant or no problem at all until about the start of winter 2016. The same guy whom I've relied over the years for annual check up suggested to replace the bad relay switch; then another parts, both of which I promptly acquired and installed by the same guy - to no avail. I did not get my heat back. The worst part, he put the heat into a manual switch mode that eventually could have caused water overheating of the boiler. When the same guy suggested another parts need to be replaced to get the problem finally fixed, I decided "Hold On" let me seriously think about that. This was Wednesday evening, 3rd night without continuous heat at the house. I contacted a boiler service Thursday morning recommended by a neighbor but gave me an appointment the following Monday with a 4-hour window to show up in my door. But wait! That means 4 more nights without heat including Superbowl Sunday. I scanned a long list of boiler service companies listed and reviewed at Yelp and got a good impression of AmerikHomes. I called and spoke to Leo W who agreed to be at my house between 630 and 7pm that day. He showed up at 630pm promptly. He went ahead and analyzed the problem that he traced to wiring connections to the new relay switch. As Leo found the problem, he explains in detail what needs to be done and can he do to get the heat back. That same night, the boiler was back in operation and the heat was back. Leo stated that a parts can be replaced or the old parts can stay but has to be put on manual mode though it would cause some heat loss from draft coming from the chimney. I asked Leo to get the parts after mentioning to me the price. Leo was back at my house the following day again at 630pm and installed the new parts. Some wirings have to be rerouted as the parts was not the exact replacement but Leo explained to me in details what he was doing so I fully understand what is going on. Leo was just charging me for the parts - no additional labor as he promised the night before but I insisted to pay him partial labor as I want to be as fair as possible. I inquired with Leo about an estimate to install a new boiler and split type ductless AC and his response was very reasonable just the same as what Leo has charged for his labor and cost of parts installed for my boiler that he serviced. I highly recommend Leo for his trade. He does not react to the problem; he analyzed it first so the right solution can be found. The chance encounter with Leo will not be last.
