New owner unfortunately. Horrible experience, lied to me, refused to give me my car back, performed unauthorized "repair" (basically wrapped the cable with electrical tape), I had to pay for this to get my car back even though I did not want them to do anything and clearly stated that. Prices higher then in a dealership: for every service he quoted and for diagnostic. I was already upset as I could not communicate with the employee on site (did not speak English) and the second one that came in was rude and with attitude. Complete lack of professionalism. i just finished getting some work done at Amerimex and like always they called and said it was ready. I started thinking about all the work they have done for me. From the under carriage to the windows it me think how lucky I've been to find a place I could trust. Ivan always gave me a fair shake. I didn't mean to make this my story but that how it came out I've been going to Amerimex since 2011 and I have not a better place for service with quality workmanship. I keep my cars for a long time and they have never failed me. The people working have always been courteous and respectful. Prices have always been fair and the back up all their work. The girl behind the counter can't make change. My total was 17.97 I gave her $20.02, she wanted me to give her another penny...I just stood there till she figured it out, then her light bulb must have went on because instead of giving me a nickel she gave me 5 pennys...I have a colorful word for her. The next day I went back with a different car and she didn't tell me it was over an hour wait. It's a shame because you can't beat the oil change deal but I'd rather not save money with a bi@& behind the counter. read more

I've been taking 2 older cars there for 3 yrs & generally talking to Ivan [manager & mechanic] From oil changes to major mechanical work all I had to do was tell Ivan what the car was or wasn't doing & he diagnosed it,called me for yes or no to fix, & had it done in a reasonable time. Prices are fair and he always asked if I wanted to see what was done. Ivan will make sure that you get quality job. Very poor & expensive parts & inferior parts used!!!!!! & Poor quality work!! $49 for a relay?? Fuel pump failed within 2 weeks of installation, left us stranded, left loose wires hanging under gas tank, found broken bolts near gas tank straps as well. My uncle had his Jeep serviced there, about a year prior for cylinder head work. The water pump area was leaking about 5 months later, he took it back & they said sorry sir out of warranty. My uncle said fine, okay I guess then took his Jeep to a different shop (thank god!) Turns Amerimex on 95th St. Oak Lawn cut corners & used silicone over the old water pump o ring seal & it eventually failed. We never would of known this except the new shop gave us the old water pump back as PROOF and showed us the silicone that was used at Amerimex and this was the reason of failure & leaking pump seal. That's why the water pump leaked, short cuts were used. 80,000 miles later same Jeep same water pump, new seal from other shop hasn't leaked a drop!!!! Not only that this place is expensive, uses poor inferior parts. We will never go here again nor would i recommend ANYONE GO HERE!!! $700 bucks later and were back to where we started, BROKE DOWN!! read more

Would NEVER go here again, nor would I recommend it. I went here for a slow oil leak and muffler work...no, not over one or two, or even three visits, but FIVE trips to Amerimex where I sat for hours while they welded, replaced the oil pan, replaced the senor.... Rick has a great, sincere personality and a strong hand shake but is unable to return a phone or back up his words. I am still left with the same slow oil leak, only now the exhaust pipe to the muffler just fell off yesterday!! I was on my way home from work, down pouring rain and now no one is open til Monday. Not worth the great prices if the work is crappy. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. I brought my truck in for check engine light so it would pass the emissions test. They had it for days and said it needed some sensors and would cost $380. I said only if it will pass emissions, then they call back and say it will also need a gasket. And the total will be around $800. I said no and went to collect my truck. I drive it home and engine is smoking. I look and pouring antifreeze out of engine, also they left a diagnostic hose in the engine still. The truck is ruined now. I am looking to get a lawyer. This place is a scam and nobody that works there is a true mechanic. Everyone I know that has been there has gotten their vehicle back worse off then when you Friday brought it. Stay away this place is not professional and will destroy your vehicle.....they will part it until it starts....zero troubleshooting skills here. read more

I initially brought my car in because I had someone I knew change my brakes and they messed them up. My right tire was making noise. So naturally, I bring it to a mechanic who "specializes" in brakes. I get there to drop it off and the woman at the desk, who hardly spoke English and acted as if she didn't understand a thing I was saying, took my information and said they would call us.That should have been my red flag but I decided to give it a chance, since they are less than a mile from my home. So I had to call back and speak to one of the mechanics for piece of mind that they understood what I was bringing it in for. The calipers were siezed and I needed to replace the roaters and the brake pads again. Which is understandable. The mechanic said to get new roaters and brake pads on the warranty i had from buying them at auto zone and he would put them on the next day for half price. The woman called at 5pm to come back and pick up the car, she says it is ready. I walk there to pick it up and when I get there it isn't ready. I wait for almost 2 hours and finally at 7pm they finish the job. I watched them leave with the car, 3 separate times for a test drive. I pay for everything, about $300. So the next day I bring back the new roaters and brake pads and they install them. I pick the car up, the mechanic assured me that it was fixed and it shouldn't be a problem. I drive to work and after the car sits for 8 hours and I go to drive home, guess what happens? The right tire, once again, is squeaky with the addition of a noise that sounds like something is clanking around in the tire. So, trusting that I'm not in any danger, seeing that I had it looked at and "fixed" twice now, I drive over an hour away for the weekend, assuming that the noise is nothing serious because they would have noticed a major problem right? They "specialize" in brakes, and they test drove the car. So I thought I was safe. When I get to where I was going, more than an hour away, I get out of my car and smell something burning, like metal on metal. So I try to limit my driving for the rest of the weekend, but I still had to drive that hour plus back home. I brought the car back the next day. I asked them specifically to fix the noise and asked them about the burning smell. Now, it's my left tire, which wasn't making noise to being with, he thinks the brake fluid hose going to the left rear tire is clogged. So after he told me that should get rid of any noise and burning happening, I once again trust these people to fix the problem that I'm having. I take my car back there, after about 6 hours of them having my car, I get the call to pick it up. But he informs me that it is still making noise. How is it still making noise if he said the hose would solve that problem? Also, now I need to replace my rotars and brake pads AGAIN! When I went to pick it up, I told him I didn't understand how it is still making noise when I've been here 3 times now in the past week and my initial complaint was that it was noisy. So why after being there 3 times is it still not fixed? And why didn't he tell me that I would need new roaters and brake pads while he was telling me I needed a hose replaced? I may be wrong, but as far as I know, a mechanic should be able to see with their eyes when a rotar needs replacing. I'm sure he assumed that I was stupid and knew nothing about cars because he rambled off about 4 different stories about why it's still noisy. Including that the brake pads I bought were not good quality. Even though they advertise the same exact brake pads in their lobby. When I know for a fact that I have put those same exact pads on a different car in the past and never had a problem. So I asked him why he didn't suggest that I buy better quality pads. His answer was that it would have cost about $200 more. It is not his decision to make, how much money I spend. I spent that anyway going back there over and over again. Then he asked me if it would have made a difference if he told me then or now. Yes, yes it absolutely would have made a difference. I feel like a good mechanic would suggest something better if they thought what you brought in wasn't sufficient, and let you make your own decision about spending your own money. No, not this guy. I brought my '97 Tahoe to this location and spoke to Ivan. Explained to him that I was hearing a little bit of a rattling noise by front right tire and that I felt movement in it. Explained that I thought it could be ball joint, bearings or tie rods. That I wanted him to check it out and let me know what was wrong and a quote to fix it. He got back to me a few hours later stating I desperately needed new upper and lower ball joints on both sides. That they were about to crack and it was very dangerous to drive as is. Quoted me $560. As a single dad on limited funds I told him I needed to wait til payday. Then he said if I paid cash and got it done right away with him he would charge me $420. I started to get a fishy feeling then. I told my boss who has been in the intermodal replacement parts industry for 30 years with mechanic experience. We lifted up the truck to take a look. Only needed new shocks. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the ball joints. Had I not gotten a second opinion I would be out at least $420 and still be stuck with initial problem. Spent $150 for a new set of front shocks including labor instead and problem is fixed. Do the math and don't fall for what this con artist says. He completely lacks integrity. read more
