I called this office and the guy himself like 4 times and I left messages. Nobody called back or picked up. After I finally got someone to pick up they said we are booked and my emergency will have to wait. This is street I paid the guy 100 dollars and misdiagnosed my ac problem. And still took my 100. I asked them if that money wad going ti get applied towards the problem and u Was told no this is a new problem. My wife's A/C hasn't worked for years. She'd been under contracts with large firms but none of them could fix the problem. They'd just do a recharge every so often. ON TIME After the contract was up I decided to try Ameritec. My summer work schedule has been insane and I had to reschedule three or four times, sometimes last minute. They were very accommodating and the tech showed up within the specified window so I didn't have to wait. KNOWLEDGEABLE Our setup isn't the easiest to deal with since we're on the first floor of a condo and the unit is on the roof. The other variable in play is the indoor water heater linkage to the furnace. Without going into the minutiae, suffice it to say that ours is far from a straight forward pump-furnace-thermostat setup. I remember calling another company once who sent a kid who looked like he hadn't graduated h.s. yet and found myself having to explain to him what I knew about HVAC (different property, different setup). Ivan the tech, knew everything about our setup and the important part was that he was able to explain it to me so that I understood. NOT EXPENSIVE Prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable service usually costs an arm and a leg (though often times worth it), Ameritec's prices are very reasonable. My AC unit is a bit older and started to act up last year. This year it was way worse so after doing some Yelp research I found Ameritec. I called yesterday and they sent two techs to me by 5 30 which was awesome after learning how busy they have been. The techs were very thorough and I felt like they did a good job diagnosing the problem. I required a new motor, which they came back to install first thing this morning. They even took my blower with them last night to assemble everything before they got back to my residence. Initially we thought I would also need refrigerant as well. After further inspection they decided it probably wasn't necessary. It was too chilly to get an accurate read outside but they didn't want to: 1. Overcharge my unit with refrigerant and 2. Charge me for something I might not need So they told me to call back in a couple weeks if it isn't cool enough. Otherwise I'm back up and running for the warm summer. I found Ameritec to be responsive, professional and thorough. The constant interaction with Ivan through diagnosing the problem and providing the solution was very comforting to be kept in the loop. Ameritec Home Services made some minor repairs to our roof recently (Dec. 2019); they were very professional, courteous, and prompt. What was interesting is that the roofing company that a friend used for their new roof (covered by insurance) also checked our roof. They presented a very professional looking estimate in a folder, complete with pictures of the same issues, BUT their estimate was 36X the price that Ameritec repaired them for! BEWARE! I thought scammers would be driving an unmarked van or pickup, and wouldn't conduct themselves in such a professional manner. We learned a very valuable lesson! Excellent. Ivan showed up within the 3pm-5pm window they communicated, along with a younger assistant who appeared to be in training. Very friendly and professional. Ivan asked plenty of questions, and then explained everything that he was doing as he went along. Here's the best part: After about an hour and half of figuring out the problem, Ivan was able to take a part out, and put it back together, and resolved the issue. He told me that I would likely need to replace the part in the future, but said that there was no sense in spending $250 on the new part until I absolutely needed it. Despite all the time put in, and resolving the problem, he only charged me the minimum for coming out. These guys are saved in my phone and will definitely be used again. read more

Disclaimer: they're not done with their work yet. two of the techs are in my house fixing my AC right now, but for the record, i have full faith that they'll be done soon and i'm incredibly impressed by their service so far. i came home after a night of drinking thinking "gee my house is warm", but i just figured it was the alcohol and dehydration. turns out my house actually WAS warm! the AC was no longer blowing out cold air. within a day, it was no longer blowing air at all. I called a bunch of companies on Yelp but these were the only ones who could see me the next day. Ivan came right over, and even apologized for showing up towards the end of the 2 hour window in which I was told he would show up. I was super impressed by the customer service. He quickly found the problem, but the catch was that the part that needed to be replaced was discontinued something like 15 years ago. He figured he'd be able to find it eventually, but it might take a week or so. He found it a few hours later in alexandria! and now, one day later, two techs are in my attic fixing the AC. Again, super impressed with their promptness and customer service. Everyone who has been inside the house has been incredibly polite and professional, and they don't seem too bothered by my obnoxious dog either. I eventually scheduled the installation on Saturday. But the staff came 1 hour later than I expected. No big issue though. The staff were very friendly and polite. They spent time inspect every aspects relating to the installation, such as the locations of the inner unit and the outside unit, how the cable could go through the wall. They listened to my request and explained why things could or couldn't be done patiently. My wife and I had a disagreement on how to run the cable through the wall, and they even offered to stay in their van until we decided. Ivan didn't come to install but he spent about 5 minutes on the scene to discuss. After all, the installation began. The staff put on protective devices to protect furniture in the room from debris. They drilled a hole on the wall and guided the inner unit's cable through the wall, on the exact location that me and my wife wanted. A third guy came to help them with cables. They used a ladder to guided the cable from the second floor to the ground and connected it to the outside unit. Per our request, the cable hanging on the wall was closely fixed by the existing rain water gutter, which made the appearance less messy. The staff spent almost 8 hours working under a warm day without having a break of lunch. They just kept working. Finally the installation finished. I tested the system and everything worked perfectly. The staff voluntarily cleaned all the debris in the room caused by all the drilling and installation. Upon leaving, the staff even refused to take any tips, that I was really willing to give based on the quality service they provided. Well done. I didn't have the best experience with Ameritec. I called them to install a humidifier on my furnace. Over the phone I was asked what type I wanted and I told the woman I didn't know, that was one of the things I'd want to talk about during the estimate appointment. When the guy arrived, he looked at my setup and just showed me what he'd be putting in. He didn't explain anything about options or pricing for the options, pros and cons of different types, etc. I assumed he was picking the best type for my configuration. He installed an evaporative humidifier, but I have an instant hot water heater and humidifiers don't trigger water heating in instant water heaters. Later research online showed me that hot water is necessary with evaporative types to aid in evaporation, otherwise it should only run be with the heater. Running with the heater wasn't enough to increase humidity in my condo at all. I had to buy a small tank hot water heater to feed hot water to the humidifier, paying $200 for the water heater and $400 to a plumber for the installation. That's almost doubled the costs, and approached the cost of a steam humidifier, what I should have gotten in the first place, but was never brought up during the consult. Once I got hot water to it, it was great, but i should have been told up front that cold water would decrease the efficacy of the type being recommended, and what other options I had. read more

Our HVAC completely died during this past weeks cold snap. Worried about all the past horrible experiences we've had with HVAC repair people (read my other reviews of my experiences with another company), we reluctantly called for help. Ivan was prompt, courteous, and showed on time for our next day's appointment. He showed to the house and I expected the $80 service fee just to diagnose the problem. Turns out that he has 30 years in the HVAC business and runs his business with is family (how awesome is that?!). He diagnosed the problem as a faulty condensation pump, quickly fixed it and charged us what I thought was a completely reasonable amount (hundred less than I thought). I think he is a completely transparent, honest hard worker who is out to help people, not screw them over. I mentioned his Yelp ratings and he seemed pleasantly surprised by all the kind comments when I told him about his high ratings. Doubling down on my review for this family-run business. Amazing people. This time, I got Ivan Sr. AC was working fine until six hours into a scorching weekend and it stops. Temperature starts climbing and I have no doubt that I'm calling Ameritec based on their prompt, reliable and personable response last time (two/three years ago?). Got Ivan Sr. on his cell and his first reply was that there were no technicians available. But he said to text him my address and he'd let me know within 15 min what would be possible. True to his word, ten minutes later, he tells me he will be there in a bit. He shows up, sweaty from his last job (he was heading home and detoured to fit me in). Said hello to my family and said that given the forecast this weekend, he didn't want to leave us uncomfortable without AC. It ended up being a faulty switch but he didn't want to replace the entire board since it would set me back a bundle. Not only did he quickly diagnose the problem but gave me a tutorial on how to resolve it in his absence. He did some maintenance and got it up and running. In/out within 15 minutes for an incredibly reasonable price on what was basically an emergency weekend call and I was charged what others charge for a diagnosis. I've been using Ameritec for about 6 years now and can't recommend them enough. I first met Ivan when I had him take a look at my 25 yr old unit that was working fine but I still feared would die any day. Ivan was very honest and said "don't fix it, if it isn't broke". He inspected it and found no problems. 2yrs later the unit started failing and I chose to replace it. The process was so easy and simple. I received a quote that was very reasonable and realized that some other companies price gauge. Ivan and the team arrived on time and installed the unit within the time they said. OMG He save me a lot of money. Ivan is the best. I sound like one of those fake review, but I'm not. We are moving and getting our condo ready for rental. We have had this humming noise from the AC unit so I call this company per Yelp review. Ivan came the next day, look at the unit, he thought it was the transformer, cost $500, he said we still have two or three years left on it, he did service on our unit and while he was servicing, found a loose screw in the back, tighten it and I'm one of his fan now. I returned from vacation to find my air conditioning went out! I called Friday at 5:30pm and Ameritec to the rescue on Saturday morning. Ivan Jr. and Ricky showed up at the beginning of the window I was given the day prior. They quickly diagnosed the issue as being a faulty capacitor and they had a replacement on their truck. It took them 30 minutes to diagnose and fix the problem. This is the second time in 3 months Ameritec has been out to fix my AC. Both times, they've been very responsive, knowledgable, and efficient. I had Ameritec Services install a new mini-split cooling and heating 4 head system in my DC rowhome and they went above and beyond to make this a successful installation. The owner, Ivan, was super flexible with scheduling and his crew did a fantastic job with this somewhat complicated install completing it in one day. From call to service-outstanding! Ivan was prompt, personable and professional! How's that for alliteration? It's a family business, and it shows in the detail! I had a problem back in the beginning of the summer when my A/C wouldn't cool. Ivan came out the next day and determined that we had no, repeat no, freon! He filled the unit and informed me with all things A/C related. Well, my spouse and I had a BIG spring clean-out/up! In the process of clearing the "closet" where our unit was (a 1890 house-closet is an overstatement!), I broke the PVC pipe from our A/C to the "little black box" which dumps condensation outside. Sorry for the technical terms, but... Ivan came out the next day to replace to PVC (with negligible cost) and had us cooling! A wonderful company! Would use again and recommend absolutely! read more

Upon discovering that he would require proprietary replacement parts for our Burnham boiler, he did the research to find them, procured them, and returned a couple of days later to complete the installation. My family lives in the Washington DC area, and has been using Ameritec for as long as long as I can remember. i recently had a run in myself with them because while visiting home, our AC system was on the fritz, now they've been having freakishly warm weather for this time of the year, so i found it odd they were using the AC. Nevertheless, I called to have it repaired and these guys were in my house working on it within the hour! They said I lived near their offices and I was lucky to catch them on a break. But they were very kind about everything, and not expensive, I mean for the service they've provided, they were great! And if they were in Miami, I'd def. use them!!! I have used them for my office, and my house since 2009. Two technicians, a father and son team---Ivan Senior and Ivan Junior. Both are good, although most of my dealings have been with Ivan Senior. They give good advice for both commercial and private settings. When I call them, they are at my house that day, and they always fix the problem that day as well. Prices are reasonable, and they stand behind their work when there is a problem. My only caveat is that if you sign up for the maintainence program, you have to call them to remind them to come, rather than them sending you an email or voicemail saying 'hey, it's time to have your hvac checked'. read more

Ivan Sr & Jr just installed a new heat pump system and water heater for me the other day in my condo. I was impressed with how hard they worked to get it done within a day (other companies told me it could take at least a day and a half, and would be a few hundred dollars more expensive). I was worried about them being able to fit the new equipment into my place (it had to fit into the closet in the bathroom, but they were able to fit it in w/ taking the bathroom door off). They had a great attitude about everything and I look forward to using them for general maintenance over the years. I don't even think they took a break for lunch! I lucked out by finding the owner, Ivan outside a neighbor's home, patiently waiting for him to return (he's that kind of guy). Our AC had suddenly stopped working when it was 95 and the big company that installed it was sketchy about whether or not they'd be able to come out to help us. Ivan to the rescue! I'm tempted to give 1 star due to our most recent experience, but seems a bit unfair given that they have done good work in my house previously. But in a way that makes yesterday even worse... My wife and I noticed a large pool of water next to our aging furnace on Thursday night. We poked around and tried to figure out the problem, finally deciding we needed professional help. Ameritec had been out the previous Fall to check our furnace and installed a new dryer vent. There were some difficulties getting the tech to actually show-up then - a missed appointment, then a late arrival - and that should have been a red flag. On Friday morning I contacted their business office and spoke to a woman whose name I don't know. She was polite and said a tech could come to our house after 4pm. The tech would call before coming, so I gave her my wife's name and number because I knew I'd be working late. My wife rushed home from work with the kids to find an even bigger pool of water. She cut off the A/C and waited. And waited. As it got warmer and the kids got fussier. Finally, she called Ameritec to see when the tech would arrive. The man who answered had no idea who she was and wasn't particularly helpful (despite my wife being a repeat customer with an appointment scheduled). He said he would call her back. After more waiting, my wife called the tech back and she was basically told that there was no record of our appointment because the person I spoke to had gone on vacation. And I guess she didn't write down my appointment or put it in their (non-existent?) appointment system? The tech made a half-hearted offer to come, but my wife told him not to bother - she didn't think he would actually show-up and we needed A/C. Ameritec does good work when they show-up, but they're just too unreliable. They've permanently lost our business. read more
