This is my second time using BlueStar and I have nothing but amazing things to say about them. The first time they fixed my furnace which had build up on a sensor which was an easy fix. John came out and was very straight forward and up front with everything he did. He explained the issue to me, how he would fix it, and even provided some recommendations I may want to do in the future. My second time I used Bluestar was on a Sunday and they are closed on Sunday's. I did not realize this at first and left them a voicemail in the morning. Realizing they were closed I called another company who would have charged me more than Bluestar to come out later that afternoon to look at the problem which was that my Nest Thermostat was giving an E73 error code meaning it was not getting power. To my surprise I received a call from John at Bluestar that afternoon prior to the other HVAC company coming out. I discussed my thermostat issue not getting power with John and he suggested several troubleshooting fixes I could try over the phone. After eliminating several causes of what the problem may be John suggested holding down the front panel cover switch to the unit to see if a power light was coming on. In doing this I noticed sometimes the light would come on and sometimes it would not. There seemed to be a loose connection in the a wire that was causing the switch not to supply power. After playing with the switch for a few minutes I got the power to stay on and the problem was fixed. John solved my problem and saved me a good deal of money as I canceled my appointment with the other HVAC company. John took over 20 minutes talking to me on the phone going above an beyond to help me solve my AC issue on the day the company is closed. I would highly recommend BluStar to anyone and will use them for all my future HVAC needs. read more

My AC suddenly stopped working yesterday. I checked the AC compressor unit outside my condo and noticed it wasn't turning on when I switched on the AC. I called BlueStar and they were able to squeeze me in within a few hours. Isaac was able to diagnose the problem quickly and got my AC running. He was very professional and explained the issue. I contacted Bluestar Air Mechanical for a second opinion after an appointment with Air One. I have a Carrier HVAC system, and the Air One technician recommended a complete system replacement, claiming the blower was bad, the furnace control board needed replacing, and that there were other issues. Since replacing the HVAC is a big investment, I wanted to get a second opinion. It was only after comparing the service from Bluestar that I realized Air One may have been pushing for a new system sale or lacked the expertise to properly diagnose and repair the actual problems. Isaac, the technician from Bluestar, spent about an hour thoroughly diagnosing and fixing the issues. He found burnt wiring in the furnace and discovered that the wrong capacitor had been incorrectly installed in the AC. Isaac replaced the burnt wiring in the furnace and the capacitor in the AC. After these repairs, my Carrier system was back up and running--without the need for a costly replacement. Bluestar, and Isaac in particular, demonstrated professionalism, expertise, and honesty. They focused on resolving the actual issues instead of pushing for an unnecessary system replacement. We replaced HVAC system with BlueStar back in May 2021 after quoting 10+ places and BlueStar has the best price and best service! I was super busy back then so I didn't have a chance to leave them a review but today we came across again. Our Ecobee screen turned off which did not activate the AC. I was frustrated as outside is 90 degree and we have a toddler in the house so there is no way we can handle without AC. I sent BlueStar a quote to see how I can fix the problem and Danny immediately got back to me after less than 5 minutes. He walked me through all the steps via phone call by cleaning the drain pipe, turning on and off the switch by the furnace and the Ecobee immediately works. We finally have AC!! I am not ready to pay for HVAC professionals to come to fix this problem and charged couple hundred dollars but thansk to Danny, we don't have to do any of that! TL;DR: great service, much more affordable than other companies we've used in the past, so we're going to start using these folks now for HVAC work. After using two other HVAC companies that were extremely expensive, we tried BlueStar recently when our AC compressor stopped working. - they were very prompt to respond to request - they were able to come the same day - the technician, Isaac, was extremely helpful and fixed the issue (as well as helped teach me some things) - they ended up being much more affordable than other local businesses: $65 for the visit compared to $89 for one company and $140 from another (just for the visit) read more

I had my heat pump repaired today. I called in the morning and the tech came by in the late afternoon and replaced the capacitor and within 30 minutes I was back up and running. Great quick turnaround. Diagnostic visit fee of $65 seems reasonable. The cost of the part $250 was not so reasonable. Of course I agreed to the cost without knowing the actual retail cost as I figured the diagnostic fee was reasonable. The capacitor goes for $23 on amazon and $11 on another supply website. Paying more than 10x the retail price does kind of ruin the experience as I don't think anyone wants to pay 10x. I don't think even movie theater popcorn goes for 10x retail. Everything else was great though. Of course it is well known that this industry is one of the most hard to trust. In the end, I was very happy to get my AC back within the same day but just sour it cost so much more. read more

After requesting a quote for a water heater replacement with pictures of my current set up, Blue Star got in touch right away, gave me a rough estimate and sent out two techs with in 2 hours. They guys came, found a clogged condensation line, cleaned it up, and showed me the water tank was dry and not leaking. Since it was 11 years old, they took a phone video inside the tank to assess how much corrosion and deposita were present. I decided to replace, they put in a Bradford unit the same day. I can't recommend this company highly enough. 3 years ago we had them replace our airconditioning system and oil heater with a heat pump. It's extremely important to have any professional service your home's units before Spring/Fall time every year. Do not disregard the importance of your unit and be sure to maintain them on a bi-annual basis. I have used BlueStar for about 2 years now and they have done an amazing job with my AC and heating units. John is my usual technician and always provides friendly service along with excellent care for my home. John and the rest of BlueStar truly know what they're doing which makes me glad that I hired them. I have had a few issues in the past two years (blown fuse, dead capacitor, etc.) and each service call was simple and painless. I do recommend signing up for their membership which includes two service visits per year. It's a fair price because it also includes emergency service calls (depending on the issue) throughout the year. A capacitor in my AC unit died in the middle of a 100 degree heatwave back in July 2019. Luckily, a capacitor replacement was inexpensive and my emergency service fee was waived since I had their membership. Their membership is a great deal for unexpected occasions like that. This is a much-delayed review. First of all, the owner & staff of Bluestar are the most honest contractors I've ever met. Way back in March of this year, the motor of the fan coil system in my home died. Apparently, the manufacturer has discontinued the motor. Danny, the owner ordered a similar, not identical motor. Walter tweaked the casing of the motor to make it fit the system. He spent more than 2 hours, but they charged me for only the cost of the motor since I have an annual service plan with them which covers maintenance in the spring & fall. I wish I could give you guys 10 stars, because you're the kind of company others should emulate! My AC broke down completely during a heatwave and it got bad quickly. The manager Danny sent Diego (technician) to assess the situation, give me a quote AND bring over a portable AC to tie me over until the situation was resolved. They did all this knowing that I was looking at other quotes to replace my unit. Of course their pricing was significantly more affordable, and I went with them. They started work in record time, a day earlier than I expected, showing up early in the morning and working nonstop until the evening. Walter was amazing! Winston arrived on time, was very kind and knowledgable, answered several questions I had about the process along the way, and he and his colleague worked hard to finish the project in time for my PM HVAC permit inspection. BEWARE! They will try to pull a fast one on you and SCAM you. Initially our first encounter with BlueStar was wonderful and I left a 5 star review to reflect that experience. The second time around was not the same. I availed their 21 POINT (yes, 21 individually outlined checks) heating check up and Randehl comes in the next day. He went straight to work and started with adjusting the manual dampers to push more heat to the lower floors. He was off to a great start and was able to adjust them fairly quickly. Unfortunately, that's where his "21 point" maintenance/tune up ends. He proceeds upstairs and fills out a work order, charges full price and left. We assumed he was probably short on time and was going to come back another time since he mentioned on the order about returning with a filter. A couple of days later without any further follow up, I contact the owner, Danny, and told him what happened. He proceeds to confirm that the tech did not complete the 21 point inspection as it stated on their brochure and promises a call back to make things right. Another couple of days goes by and no call so I end up calling myself. I spoke to the nice lady on the phone, told her my situation and she said she would check with Danny. She puts me on hold and seconds later HANGS UP THE PHONE. In the end, Randehl scams us and Danny provides no resolution. So please BEWARE before they pull the same scam they tried on me. Also, mind you the adjustment the tech did on the manual dampers ended up almost closing the heat to the 2nd floor and we had to redo them. read more

Wow! I've got to say that because they've quickly returned my call for an initial estimate, submitted a great quote over three other trades that were far off their estimate. I replied to their email and fit me in schedule to complete the removal of a sub-standard AC Lin INSIDE my basement walls (really??!!??). They removed old duct work, old lines and routed new lines proficiently and neatly. Inspired I helped where I could and stayed out of their way in others. A frozen pipe caused me to remove damaged drywall and sub-par original builder insulation (allowing freezing temps and air into wall cavity that caused the burst pipe!). This outfit knows what they are doing, no babysitting or micro management needed as Diego breezes through purge of old coolant, installation of new lines and refilled in good time! Called Randehl on Sunday that my air condition finally gave up. Randehl came out 1st thing Monday morning and gave me an estimate to replace complete HVAC system with a possible installation on Wednesday.
