What we appreciate about this park is that you can take short walk or make a longer walk & visit Reinstein Nature preserve. We went this past weekend and there were quite a few downed trees from the wind earlier. Parking is also amazing here. read more

A shockingly well maintained park. Beautiful trails that go deep in the woods. My family was chased by raccoons once. I went yesterday and multiple people were taking photos of the foliage. And a really nice big playground. They have subtle but cute Christmas lights display when the season comes. And their softball league is run better than MLB. Great park with great amenities. The walking trails are unique for the area. Wood Plank boardwalk style walking trails cut all through the woods. They make for a comfortable leisure stroll through nature. Great for all ages. read more

I can't believe that this was my first visit to this park! I met some friends here for an outdoor lunch and planned on walking around a bit but didn't get much further than our picnic table. The park wasn't very crowded and everyone was maintaining the proper social distancing! There is a small pond with a couple people fishing, a few that were hiking around and a small group in a pavilion. Much less that a typical spring day but with all the recent rain keeping the trails pretty wet and the current covid restrictions I guess i shouldn't be surprised. The buildings were all closed and most of the tables and benches were piled up together. I look forward to going back with nicer hiking conditions and less restrictions. read more

I came here many times growing up with my sister and parents. My sister and I played on the playground and my parents walked the trails with us that were closest to the playground. We saw many deer on those trails. A friend had a fun picnic in their pavilion area a couple years back. The pavilion area is nice. Today a friend and I walked the trails near the playground (with our masks on.) We didn't see any deer unfortunately. I wanted to continue so we continued on. We were parked near the playground. We walked past our cars, past the entrance, and continued on past the pavilion and picnic area. We started on the Seneca Trail and made a left. It was very muddy so we went back the other way and walked for a long while. It dumped us out near Como Park Boulevard in Depew. We then had a bit of a trek to get to our cars. It was a great day at 66° and we'll return to walk a different trail that I saw there on the next beautiful day. read more

Stiglmeier Park is a great recreational space for everyone. Bird watchers will be enthralled, sports enthusiasts can play basketball, tennis, baseball, softball, roller hockey, kids can have fun on the playground, you can rent pavilions, etc. There are so many great trails as well and place to explore around the park. There are bathroom facilities too, and a few water fountains. It is also a great place to settle in with a chair and a good book and chill out. On the day that my friend and I went, we saw several blue jays, a female cardinal, and various other birds. It was a delight. read more

We were looking for something fun to do while we were in town for the day and found that this park had hiking trails we could try out. The park itself is beautiful and green. Lots of ballfields and picnic shelters, with many people enjoying time together there. We started out on a hiking trail and it was gorgeous. It felt like we were in the wilderness except that we could hear people, traffic, and music almost the entire hike. We were glad to have a map of the trails or it would've been easy to get lost back in there. Part of the hike was along a small river/creek that was so pretty. Definitely worth visiting. read more

Clean, quiet, and family friendly. Now why the 4/5 stars? Not dog friendly. I know this is not a problem for everyone but come on. As a local dog owner this is a disservice for those that want to bring their furry friend along to their great park. Any who, this place is always busy with families enjoying the playgrounds, local teams/leagues enjoying the baseball fields, and seasonal events for all to enjoy. I recommend anyone check it out and hit the trails for either a nature walk or just a place to appreciate the nature/wild life. I highly recommend the fall, foliage is beautiful. Also, it's CLEAN. I've yet to see trash or lack of maintenance to the grounds. The town does a great job of such and I give credit to the local town employees I see always doing such. Stiglmeier is a large, well-kept park with lots to offer. There are several pavilions for rental. There are many sports fields and courts for baseball, soccer, football, tennis, basketball, pretty sure they have them all. There are playground areas for the warm months, and sled hills for the snow months. We have been enjoying Stiglmeier Park for years. When the hubbs and I started dating many moons ago, his family's annual picnics were here. When we moved back to the WNY area, we started coming here periodically to trek the nature trails. Our favorite amenity of Stiglmeier is definitely the trails (I linked the trail map below). They are relatively flat, more walking trails than hiking trails. The main challenge is really how far you choose to walk. Along the way there are a few bridge and boardwalk features, over small ponds, waterways or nearby marshes. Although Stiglmeier is in a residential suburban area, the trails do a great job of winding through the available woods so you do feel like you're still actually getting out there. Overall, the trails are well-marked and well-kept. We've seen many deer, squirrels, and beautiful birds on our walks here. Just yesterday, my son and I were in awe over the several cardinals we saw, so boldly crimson red against the snowy February backdrop. The easiest trailhead to find is, if you enter the park via the main entrance off of Losson, make a left at the park office building and follow the road loop around the fields, until you see the boardwalk trailhead on the left, maybe a two minute drive from the entrance. There is plenty of parking across the street from this trailhead. Beautiful park, especially around the holidays! They really make it feel festive with lights, signs , and other decorations. We really enjoyed walking the trails. There is so much wildlife. We saw deer, squirrels, and so many birds. It's also great for photo ops - we snapped a few sitting on giant tree trunks, and crossing bridges. I've been playing softball, walking the trails and picnicking with my family at this park for years, it's my favorite hangout in Cheektowaga and has something outdoorsy for everyone to enjoy! This park has a football field, soccer field, tennis court, softball diamonds, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, volleyball, horseshoe pits, street hockey cage, a pond and creek, walking trails, deer and bird watching, restrooms, a soda vending machine, tons of picnic pavilions with charcoal grills, multiple playground areas for children to play... Everything you need to be outdoors and happy! And, down the street in either direction is food and shopping. This park also has league softball available for men's, women and co-ed teams. It's really cool playing under the lights at night and the fields here are nice, very well maintained. I have taken some gorgeous pictures walking the trails, love it during the spring and fall months. Be sure to bring your camera and enjoy a nice walk in and around the park! read more

I've heard about this park for the longest time and finally went for a visit. Being a dog person and having a dog, I'm slightly annoyed my fur friend isn't allowed to come here. There are so many open fields and long trails, it's basically dog heaven. Cops monitor the park regularly so I wouldn't advise risking it. Enough ranting, back to the review. This park is very nice. Numerous marked trails, bike paths, tennis courts, baseball fields, open fields for tons of activities. Trails don't have any trash cans, so bring your own bag and don't litter! The property is very clean which is always nice to enjoy. Apple maps showed arrival as side of the road parking. Be careful if this happens to you; a few feet before "arrival" is no parking zone and there are signs. There's an official parking area near the fields a little distance from there. In that same area are outhouses. Trails are rocks, dirt, and wooden paths/stairs. Bikes are not allowed on trails. There are nice sitting areas along the paths. I'll for sure visit again. read more

I do lots of hiking, walking, and sometimes, running. Stiglmeier is one of the closest parks to my apartment, and is also my favorite. Tons of trails that connect to one another, as well as main parts of the park like parking lots, bathrooms, baseball diamonds, and pavilions. The trails are clean for the most part, but do watch out for animal droppings and sometimes, the occasional dead mouse. I'd suggest wearing sunscreen during the day, and in the evening, a good spraying of bug repellent. The forest environment gets humid after around 5 pm. In the winter, the trails get extremely icy, and full of snow. Watch your footing going down the stairs that are in some spots, the wood planking, and areas where there's usually marsh when the temps are above freezing. There are also numerous deer that are either sleeping or feeding around the trails, some times on them. At one point, either you or the deer will startle yourself slightly, but, that's about it for any wildlife you'll see (other than a few non-migratory birds). There's lots of trash along the trails, it's a bit disheartening to see sometimes. I notice lots of town workers driving through the park doing random tasks, I don't know why one of them can't walk the trails and collect trash once a week or so. It goes without saying, please don't throw trash on the ground. I've seen liquor bottles, blunt roaches, candy wrappers, soda bottles, and even used condoms strewn along the trails and in the wooded areas. I get it that it's a place to come hang out and walk, and I fully understand smoking to enjoy nature, but, take that stuff with you when you leave. Do the right thing. Also check out the Reinstein Woods which are about half a mile up Como Park Blvd. and border the Stiglmeier woods. These are the "No Trespassing" signs and small fences you see throughout the interior woods. read more

This is a great overall park. There's a pretty gazebo, a couple of pavilions and a couple bench swings near the parking lot, as well as a large pond with a fountain. Beyond that, there's baseball diamonds and a large playground with some interesting equipment. And beyond that, there's a nature trail that includes a boardwalk because there's marshlands and forests. The park is close to Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve. There's a chain link fence separating the two. Usually you don't notice it. I suspect it helps keep the deer (and deer tick) population relegated to the reserve. Lots of geese, but we didn't have trouble avoiding their droppings. read more

I spent 2 hours walking through the trails enjoying the quiet today. Not only was it a great workout but man after the long cold snap it felt good to finally see and feel spring emerging. The trails here are well marked and groomed. Some are wooden bridge type most are dirt/gravel. There are several benches along the way if you need a breather or just want to take in the sights and sounds of nature. I love how people leave birdseed on observation deck railings for the critters. If your adventurous you can put some in your hand and wait patiently for a feathered friend to land on you and nibble from your palm. When the chipmunks are out if you're lucky they'll do the same. Wonder escape to nature that's not far from home. Highly recommend you take some time to unplug and check it out. read more

Driving through the park, it seems just like any other park with its baseball diamonds and playgrounds, but then you enter the woods and it's all about the birds! I wish I knew more so I could actually say all the types of birds we saw, but there were woodpeckers, for sure! Definitely bring your camera! (And maybe a little birdseed) You can easily walk around for a few hours in the woods on both raised wooden paths and dirt paths. There are a few trails that intersect and then go around the whole park. It's pretty easy terrain with little to no elevation. Tip: no dogs allowed! I don't frequent as much as I would like because of this, but I understand why! read more

Stiglmeier Park, it is one of my favorite parks in Western New York area. The park is beautiful, clean, and nicely maintained with a little pond next to the front entrance. It has tennis courts, basketball courts, nature trails, baseball diamonds, football field, and a playground. They also have a few picnic shelters that goes all the way to the end of the park. I usually come in the morning for a walk and the park is not as busy as when I come in the afternoon (or Saturday). I love the nature trails. Not only you can hear the birds singing, but also see the chipmunks and deers dancing (now I sound so corny). The trails go for about a couple miles or so and they're easy to walk. It is located on Losson road in Cheektowaga, NY, next to Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve. If you happen to be in the area and would like to mingle with natures, or just take a walk, check this park out. read more

Tickle-me-yeah Park is a favourite of Elmo. But this is a different park. Lots of lovely memories of Stigglemeyer Park from the old days when I was a kid and first came to Buffalo. I will always remember it fondly. Rollerblading with my gf and her kids (lol... hides) and roaming all over the park, breathing the fresh air and having fun. It's a lovely little escape for the Cheektowaga and Depew locals, and while Chestnut Ridge may be more impressive and stunning, Stig is closer to home if you live in Buffalo or Cheektowaga, and very enjoyable. I did hear that they recently shot a lot of deer here to try and control the population in the area. That makes me very sad indeed. read more

Have been coming here since I was little with my Dad. It is so nice to come during any season and just relax. There are always deer and animals there to greet you. I have a specific tree that I'm obsessed with, too. I call it my Hump Tree. You may think this is dirty, but no, there is a literal hump that basically forms a seat. It's the best. I'll post a picture, I know you're worried. Great place to just come and clear your mind, or to get some writing/reading done. Very beautiful to photograph here, too. Love it here. X's and O's! This is my favorite park in the area to visit. It has nice walking/running trails. Also, well designed to not have to do trails if that's not your thing. Plenty of trash cans. Plenty of fields, and shelters for use. It's also well kept up. You always see workers working on improving the park. read more

The only gripe I have with this park is honestly I was walking down one of their nature paths beautiful day birds chirping and I had this dark feeling someone was following me so I turned around and it was a cute little bambi the damn thing almost gave me a heart attack. This park is in a beautiful area of Cheektowaga. The fields are well maintained with multiple sets of bleachers for both the home and visiting sides. The area is scenic, lots of trees surrounding the park. There is ample parking regardless of which field you are playing at. There is nothing to block the wind however, so if you are watching a softball game or any other kind of game on a cold Fall night, make sure you bring plenty of blankets to sit on and wrap around you because it is windy. read more

This park is GREAT. You can go on a beautiful nature walk, play at the playground or have a pic nice next to a little pond and watch all the ducks. Personally, my favorite is the nature walk. Today we saw 3 deers up close and personal. We passed a man feeding birds straight from his hand. And we passed another man who brought his own peanuts and fed them to the squirrels and chipmunks. I cannot say enough about how much love I have for this place. It's easily my favorite park in Cheektowaga, and probably my favorite in Erie County. This park has it all, fields and baseball diamonds for sports, large areas of roadway for biking, running, or walks, and some of the best nature trails around. I love love love their nature trails! Their trails go through some absolutely beautiful areas and manage to cover a large variety of different ecosystems; deep woods, creek side, meadow, young and old growth forests, and crap apple grove. I have never seen more birds than I have at Stiglmeier and this park is a birder's paradise! Deer are abundant (don't feed them!) and many other creatures call this park their home. They have a handicapped accessible trail for those unable to traverse their stone and wood chip paths and have a wide variety of trails for everybody else. One of the best parks around anytime of year, always beautiful, and always and forever one of my favorites! read more

Ah yes, the park whose name I can never spell or pronounce correctly. I stumbled onto this place when a local improv group decided to meet here every other week in the summer (at shelter 1!) and I'm glad I did. It's a nice park with ample hiking trails, great views, baseball fields and it's beautifully maintained. I haven't had a chance to fully explore this park. The only hiking I've done here is trying to find my car, but the trails look quite nice (although not long or strenuous enough for my tastes) and some of them go along the Cayuga Creek. Most of my time in this park has been along shelter #1 with our practice improv group. The shelter is right along a pond, which unfortunately doesn't allow swimming (just kidding! I don't want four arms!). My largest gripe with this park is that we got kicked out at 8:55p, before it was fully dusk as the park was 'closing.' Really? 8:55p on a summer day is when they start kicking people out? Disappointing. Maybe he was just having a bad day.. All in all, a great park -- just don't come here too late in the evening or you may find yourself being asked to leave soon! read more

I love this park for birdwatching, however so many people now feed the birds it's gotten a bit too crowded for me personally. Great trails and a huge number of bird species. If you value solitude in nature this is not the place to go, but it's clean and well cared for. Best to go towards evening if you're looking to take pictures. read more

I love this park! The park is huge and has picnic areas, baseball fields and many trails. The paths are all shaded, which is always a plus. There is also plenty of wildlife to see on the way - last time I walked the trails I saw chipmunks, a good variety of birds and a deer family. This is a great place to spend the day. read more

Shh don't tell anybody but I'm an expert on playground workouts. When I see a playground, I freak out because first of all, I want to go on the swings (what twenty-something year old doesn't want to swing?! If you say otherwise, you're lying to yourself). So while mid-air swing, the workout starts forming in my head and voila, begin obstacle course. This playground is probably one of the best in the area because they have... gaspppp.... a rock climbing wall! It's plastic but who cares?! It's so unique. Back in my day, we just had a slide and monkey bars. Basically how a playground workout works is you have a series of climbing, running, jumping, pull up tasks to do while trying to get your best time at doing it. We do a trial run to get the average time, and then knock it down by several seconds. Unfortunately my playground plan didn't work out quite so well because my friend couldn't fit himself through the circular tubes. It's like this playground was made for children or something... After that epic fail, we decided to go hiking through the trails. Holy freaking snakes. I've gone hiking on most trails in WNY and have never encountered a garden snake, believe it or not. On the first trail, three slithered by. I freaked out and nearly threw myself off the trail in emotional distress. The trails are pretty mediocre. Probably because the park was designed with families in mind, not two proficient hikers. It was a great time to do some talking and catching up though, as opposed to being out of breath and choking out a response. These hiking trails are designed for pleasant conversations while simultaneously dodging certain reptiles. The lookout points weren't really lookout points as there was nothing to see at these lookout points. This park is the perfect park for families, runners, and children alike. It has baseball fields, picnic tables, etc. The trails aren't perfect, but if I had a young child, this would be the park to introduce nature and adventure into his/her life. read more

I seriously love this park and am thankful we live so close to it! They have a huge playground with a section for toddlers and a section for older kids. Around the playground, there are benches and picnic tables. There are lots of trails through the woods and many of them are stroller/wheelchair friendly. The chipmunks and squirrels are very friendly as people often bring peanuts for them to eat. read more
