This is the best clothing boutique for women in the Chicago area. It beats out the big dept stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks, Barneys etc, as well as all of the boutique stores in the area. The owner, Merrie, has impeccable taste and she can fit you into jeans like no other. She and her staff will never sell you anything that they dont think looks fantastic, and they are always 100% honest. This store carries little know designers as well as all of the big names, and you can be assured that no one else will ever have on the same outfit that you do. Its a long time but I must tell the truth! The absolute worst experience ever!!!!! I was a consistent shopper at this very upscale boutique. I spent in the thousands each year. I had a $250.00 gift certificate, and wanted to use it. On the day i was there i only found one shirt for $70.00 that i wanted. I was told it could not be deducted from the total - i had to use more than the 250 or eat the rest... i thought this strange but...... i asked them to hold the shirt with the certificate they said fine. When I returned a month later and asked for the certificate and shirt i had found other items to purchase - they told me it had expired and they sold the shirt!!!!! I was beyond shocked!! first of all I believe it is illegal to not honor a certificate - next what bad customer service. They lost all my biz and i would strongly recommend NOT shopping at this store ever! read more

Ami Ami ,its owner and sales people are the most rude ; unhelpful and dishonest store I've ever experienced. Although I came at a friends recommendation, I was immediately judged when I walked in the door. I was wearing plain old workout clothes and no one offered to help me even with several garments already in my hands to try on. I noticed that a trunk show was going on and because I was not looking at that merchandise they only helped the trunk show clients . They just ignored me. Once I started looking at the trunk show merchandise, they were all over like flies on shit. I ended up buying thousands of dollars at the trunk show and they required a deposit. I gave them my deposit. Months went by and I called to inquire where my order was and when it would arrive. I called multiple times to get a straight answer when I could expect my outfits to arrive. When I originally ordered and gave my deposit , I told the owner that I needed my clothes by a certain date. The owner guaranteed it would come in. Even with my inquiries, I never got a truthful answer. Finally, after many months of having my money, luckily my persistence got the truth out of the owners . They informed me that the merchandise I ordered was never coming in. I requested my money back and I was told I could only have a credit. They had the audacity to tell me there are no refunds for trunk shows. I never received my stuff but they stole my monies anyway. I refused a credit. Who would ever want a credit at a store that steals from its customers. This store should only go out of business for its cheating, lying and stealing from customers. read more

The owner of this store is unethical & it's honestly disgusting. She places orders with designers & does not pay them!! So the designers cut & produce these pieces for her, and she NEVER pays. Now the phone number doesn't even work... is this non-reputable business even still open? This company should be shut down based on the disrespect they show young, emerging designers. read more

I'm not from Chicago, but found something great on Ami Ami's website and decided to give them a chance. Never again. Honestly, the worst customer service I have ever encountered online. I was double charged for my purchase and never issued a credit. The person I worked with was unresponsive and showed a flagrant disregard for the store's own return policy. Once they had my return, which I had to ship back to them twice bc they refused it the first time, they still didn't credit me back. Then accused me of not returning the item within the return period!!! This was an $850 mistake, which I will never make again. Save yourself the hassle, there must be better more honest and reputable places to shop. I had to go through my credit card company to finally get my money back. read more

Please do not support this store. They receive shipments from designers and do not pay. They are the reason that small, talented designers go out of business. We cut, sew and make the clothes for them based on their orders, they take in the merchandise and never pay us. This has been going on long enough. read more

I live in the city and heard of Ami Ami on a fluke through the internet. It was definitely worth driving to the suburbs. I will definitely be back when I'm looking for something special. If I could give this store a minus 10 rating I would. They are dishonest and deceitful. They sent me an item that I told them I didn't want. They told me to send it back and when I did, they refused to accept the UPS package. I didn't want the item because it was too large. I asked if they could order another from the manufacturer in my size and they said, "No." I then obtained from the manufacturer the name of another store who had ordered the item and contacted that store. They were happy to order the item for me in my size. And that store was charging half of what Ami Ami was charging. I called Ami Ami and told them about the discrepancy in price. They said someone must have made a mistake in marking the ticket. Yes, I would say so. But I don't think that mistake was inadvertent. They tried to tell me the fur was real when the manufacturer clearly described the jacket as fake fur. When I told them that, they backed off their original claim that the fur was real. It looked like fake fur. These people are sleazy. Don't trust them and don't shop there unless you want to be ripped off. read more
