Egg foo young and Vegetable Lo Mein
    Matthew M.

I always am picking up orders from here on DoorDash and I decided to try it for myself and absolutely loved every bite of it. I ordered the egg foo young and lo mein vegetable. Every bite of the egg foo young felt like heaven in my mouth. The lo mein was also great with the veggies and the noodles. The waiter was great refilling the hot green tea which was refreshing to enjoy after a long day of door dashing. I hope to come again in the future as they are definitely worth revisiting.

    Orange Chicken

We ordered chicken lo mein, orange chicken, chow mein, Mongolian beef and cream cheese wontons. Everything was very good except for the orange chicken. The dark meat was tough and chewy. We called to complain and were told it can be ordered with white meat - you just need to ask for it. I would not recommend this entree.

while visiting our daughter we decided to go here for dinner. We ordered lo mein, egg fu young, and cream cheese wontons. There wqs plenty of food for the three of us. We enjoyed all the dishes. When we finished they brought us out a surprise plate of sugared fried dough like. donuts. Really good. Im sure will be back.

I will start by saying the service was fast and great, also all the reviews I read said the Asian specific food was excellent (orange/sesame chicken, friend rice, etc). We read a previous review that said the pad thai was missing something, and we wanted to try it ourselves. I agree, totally missing something. Very bland. The noodles were also overdone so it was rather mushy, no seasoning on the chicken. The spice level was nice. The portion size was super nice for the price point. Would be our new spot to go if the flavor was there. Will come back to try the other Asian specials though! Great ambiance.

Stopped in for lunch. Nice and quiet location. We ordered two lunch specials which were both very good. The Garlic Chicken was really tasty and somewhat spicy. The Hunan Pork was also very good and spicy. We were very impressed! We had enough for another meal at home. Very good value.

Person who answers the phone is rude and not very friendly--wrong person for the job. Food is good but service needs improvement.

We would bring our Hmong family here when they visit. I love the display of Hmong art, crafts and tools. Unfortunately, service has always been slow even on a weekday. I'm unsure why since workers do come around and check in. I've had their pho, laab, papaya salad, chicken wings etc. It's not memorable but it's Hmong food. Hoping they bring back waitressing for serving utensils, and dinnerware rather than having customers fetch their own water, foam plates or plastic ones. It's not appropriate to bring extended family here anymore when we have to tell them to get their own utensils and pho veggies from their service area. We prefer Pho 126 for large family dining or Boba & Tea Deli for Hmong food.

The various meats were executed well (mixed platter, rack of ribs) with good flavor. The ribs were especially smoky, but quite charred as a result The spice level was pretty inconsistent -- one of the ones at the lowest level was distinctly spicy while the one at the medium level was pretty mild. I ordered the egg rolls, wontons, and the sesame chicken lunch combo. When we arrived, we noticed they had a lunch special available until 3 p.m. We asked if we could still order from that menu, and the woman taking our order pointed to her clock and said no. I glanced at my phone--it was 2:55 p.m. I asked her when the cut off time was and mentioned that their clock seemed a bit fast. She eventually let us order the lunch combo, but it was clear she wasn't thrilled about it. The interaction left us feeling a little awkward. As for the food--it was just okay. The wontons were bland and lacked any real flavor. The sesame chicken was underwhelming, missing that punch of sweetness and crunch I was hoping for. The side of rice tasted old and dry, like it had been sitting out for a while. The one highlight was the egg roll. It came out hot and fresh, crispy on the outside and filled with a good amount of veggies. It's definitely up there with my favorites. If I'm in the area again and my bestie is craving this spot, I'd be open to giving it another shot. Next time, I'd skip the combo and stick with the egg rolls, and maybe try her favorite dish--the lo mein. Hopefully, it'll be a better experience.

Amazingly for living in the South West Suburbs of Minneapolis (or maybe a little farther than what…read moreyou would consider that), I had never been to Lat14. Lat14 Asian Eatery is a critically acclaimed restaurant in Golden Valley, Minnesota, created by Chef Ann Ahmed. Its name comes from the 14th parallel north, inspiring a menu of bold, shareable Southeast Asian dishes from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and the Philippines. The food was phenomenal, which shouldn't be surprising coming from Chef Ann Ahmed's pedigree of awards. We started with a couple of appetizers. First was the Basil Wings which were Tempura Fried with Thai Basil, Jalapenos, and a Signature Dry Rub. Wow the tempura gave a satisfying crunch with a beautiful zing of spices. Next was the Snow Crab Wontons which were filled with Cream Cheese, Snow Crab, and served with Apricot Sweet Chili. These were stuffed with crab and you totally could taste it. The sweet/spicy sauce with nice acidic bite cut through the cream cheese very well. For my main, I went with the Lao Yum Salad which consisted of Mixed Greens, Tomato, Cucumber, Red Onion, Toasted Almonds, Watermelon Radish, Hard Boiled Egg and Lao Yum Dressing. Perfectly balanced and the dressing was delightful. Oh, and can't forget about the House Pickle Assortment of delicious tangy morsels. ___

I used to go at least once a month when living in state and on the west side of the river, especially when they had happy hour (the one negative aspect I have to report. But I digress...) Ann Ahmed is a Laotian-American Minnesotan and 3 times James Beard semi-finalist. This restaurant is known to serve food around the "14th latitude" and is FAMILY STYLE, so keep in mind while ordering. The food also comes out as it is ready rather than all at once per course. My twin sister and I went one cloudy summer's afternoon and sat outside on the patio, surrounded by lush greenery under decorative cloth shading hung above us. Of course, we got the lumpia, which they split in half for us since it was only us two and they come 3 to a plate (or 4 if you pay an extra $8 or something...) and the nam khao for "starters." For once, we both decided to try something different rather than our go-to (heavenly exquisite) Khao soi (sincerely, just divine). I ordered the pad thai with fried tofu and she ordered the squash curry with a side of roasted chicken to add. We both also got cocktails. I got the mango margarita and my sister got the old fashion (lat 14 style). The lumpia are crispy, flaky and filled with the perfect ratio of succulent pork to fillings served with a spicy dipping sauce. When cut in half, they sear the end of the cut portion to seal in the flavor and contents. Next came the khao soi, a dish to tantalize and tease the palate with the crunch of puffed rice and peanuts and the umami bite of pork flavored with lemongrass and other seasonings wrapped in a crispy lettuce leaf. Living currently in Miami, an absolute vacuum for even gross asian food, I was CRAVING pad thai and Lat 14 delivered. Perfectly cooked noodles with the right amount of sauce (not too dry and not swimming either) with lots of protein, perfectly cooked scrambled egg, fresh beansprouts that don't overcrowd the other ingredients and the crushed fresh peanuts hit every note my taste buds craved. I also was allowed to try the curry and never knew squash curry with coconut was the flavor I missed in my life. All in all, is it pricy? Yes. Are the portions also generous? Most definitely. Is it worth it and your wallet will be begging you to lighten itself by another visit? ABSOLUTELY! Also, our server was attentive, knowledgable and kind.

We ordered a fried chicken sandwich, Char Siu, egg rolls and rice. The favorite was definitely the chicken. It was very crispy, thick, moist and flavorful. It was on a pretzel bun, which normally I am a fan of but I think it takes away from the flavor of the fried chicken and the gochujang sauce we got and doesn't quite make sense. To me, it seems more haha a burger bun than fried chicken. The char Siu was good, but very small pieces of meat for the big price tag. The egg rolls were delicious and we liked the way they were cut along with the dipping sauce. Overall, we would come back but I think we would focus on just getting fried chicken and apps and avoid the rest.
