COVID ISSUES, TERRIBLE SERVICE Amici used to be a great spot for pizza and beer - for years it was our go-to in Madison, and we shared many happy memories there. Alas, the move to the new location was a massive fail. As many others have noted, the service is terrible. Beginning with the hostess, including the server, and ending with the manager. Our last visit will be our last visit...rude hostess sat us at a dirty table, a bee flew into my beer, the waitress got it out (yay) and didn't replace the beer (boo), and charged me for the beer (double boo). The in-house brewed beer was straight awful anyway. COVID wise - these guys aren't taking it seriously at all. The servers were walking around with their masks pulled to their chins, and the hostess seated tables back-to-back, in direct violation of the Governors mandate in place at the time of our visit. There was zero social distancing. We asked to speak to the manager and he made us wait 45 minutes to talk to him, then he came over and proceeded to tell us that he had talked to corporate and they were "not going off the recent mandate." So we paid our (unadjusted) bill and left. This is a place that places profit over the safety of its staff and customers, and has obviously not invested in training its management team. Oh, and the pizza, which came out almost an hour after we ordered it was a solid 5 on a scale of 1-10. What a disappointment. read more

My husband and I stopped into Amici on our way home to Atlanta. We sat on the "patio" with our pup and enjoyed a warm February afternoon in Madison before continuing home. Just a few comments: Our server was fantastic. Super friendly and attentive. Also sweet to our dog. We ordered some beers, which were reasonably priced, a side Caesar salad, and a Woodsman pizza. The salad was good, nothing special, but not bad. The pizza was killer. I couldn't stop commenting on it. The prosciutto and mushrooms were just so good together, and who doesn't love a pepperoni? Happened to be passing by and dropped into this restaurant for lunch. Like the Ambiance inside but decided to take table outside because the weather was perfect. Ordered a Athenian calzone and my wife had a chicken sandwich. It was about 45 minutes after we place the order before the food arrived. Food was very good service was a bit slow but all in all I would visit this place again. read more

Pleasantly surprised! Came down to Madison to walk around with our puppy and we sat outside. Friendly staff and good food! The family ordered pizza, subs chicken fingers. All delicious! We are new to the Madison area, thought this restaurant looked inviting, so we went for dinner. The staff is friendly, but it was all downhill from there. Waited forever for our food, the food took forever to get and was cold. We ordered wings and pizza which was served on a pizza pan and wings in a basket, the pizza was okay at best and the wings were horrible. We weren't giving any, plates to eat from, we asked our server for small plates to eat our wings and pizza from and never received them, although, she had time to take selfies with other employees. VERY unprofessional!. A group of employees were hovered around the bar being very loud, again unprofessional! Needless to say we will not be going back. WHAT A WASTE OF AN EVENING! We arrived at 6:30 and told there was a 10-15 minute wait. We had 5 adults and 1 child. We were seated at 7:00. It took 10 minutes for the server to take our drink order. We were able to order food at 7:30. The server kept coming by telling us our food was next, they're plating your food right now, etc. At 9:00, we still hadn't received our food, so we paid for our drinks an left. read more

The three meals I bought were over $60. The meals were specifically itemized, the food was burned, the app came out with entree, gave wrong beverage, then did not bring the correct beverage again. The waitress did not care to ask how to fix any issues. The waitress came to the table to take the order, to bring drinks and the check. This is not the first time this has occurred. Ordered to go and drove the 3 miles off the interstate as I was just passing through GA. Well worth it. 10/10. Antipasto was huge , 3 people could share it with left overs. They even do pizza by the slice. The blonde Greek was great. I think a large salad and two big slices of pizza were more than enough for $20 and it was delicious. Answer the f#%^&*ing phone!!! The meal would have been a lot more enjoyable if the phone had not been constantly ringing. A good waitress would also have been an improvement. Waiting 30 minutes for a salad is a bit much, although the salad was good when it finally arrived. I wonder how much longer it would have taken if I hadn't asked the waitress "how much longer?". Stopped in for a late lunch. Food was great, absolutely no complaints. The waiter was very attentive. Didn't have to ask for refills and asked if I needed anything. I ordered buffalo chicken dip, pepperoni pizza, honey garlic wings (finger licking good), salad and tortellini. Everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend this location. Waited 40 mins for a wrong order. Didn't want to wait anymore so left. Kitchen always takes way too long. Drawer never has change. Staff is always a little disorganized. Food is ok. Only good to come here when there is no where else to go. read more

By far the best Amici I've been to. The waitress did inform me it was the original. She was very friendly and the manager. My husband and I enjoyed our food but the place was pretty crowded. It also appeared that the AC wasn't working or was running poorly because it was so hot in that tiny space. We will most likely return to eat here since we live in Morgan County, hopefully it won't be as hot in there. read more

Wife and i spent the day exploring Madison, and was starving for lunch! She wanted bread sticks, so in we came to eat at Amici! They actually served a different kind of garlic bread stick, more like a loaf, but it was tasty. We also ordered mozzarella sticks that were about basic. The issue we had was the time it took to get our food. It seemed to take a long time to deliver 2 simple appetizers, and with us both being extremely hungry, it made it that much slower! After we ate, i wasn't feeling so great, and we left. Not sure if it was marinara sauce or not, but it didn't taste right. Didn't last long, so i am grateful i didn't get sick, but scared me enough that we didn't want to return. read more

Disorderly checkin and wait list. Once we finally did get seated and began to attempt to order- they were out of far too many things. Draft beer, glasses to put beer in, etc. We had to even ask for napkins at the table. Our server was disheveled and moved on quickly (sometimes before we actually could ask for something) repeatedly. This was my second visit to Amici. They moved into a much larger location-at least triple the size of the original one. We had the honey x chicken wings, so delicious-a combination of sweet and hot. The wedge salad was fantastic with large chunks of blue cheese, we had a pizza with sausage, red onions and green olives-wow, such a great combination of flavors. Really hate to do this, because Amici's used to be one of my favorite spots in Madison. Not any more! I'm in Madison at least 1x per week and I've been to the new spot at least 10 times over the last 6 months and while the relocation and renovation are top notch, the service and quality of food have seen a significant decline. It's as if management and staff have no concept how to service and prepare quality food for a larger amount of clientele. This Amici's is located in a beautiful building downtown and has a great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food and service is hit or miss. You will have a 50/50 chance of getting good pizza and friendly service or mediocre pizza and terrible service. If you are in a hurry, do not eat here. They are as slow as molasses! And if they tell you the wait time is 15-20 min for a table, it is more likely 40-45 min or longer. We do not eat here very often and when we do, we typically leave remembering why we should have gone somewhere else. read more

The only reason I'm giving this place one stars because I can't give it a zero. The staff there clearly doesn't seem to be very interested in customers. The first waiter who came up and introduced himself left and never showed up again. The second waiter took our order. It was a simple order, two small personal sized pizzas and a child spaghetti. After about 30 minutes of the child spaghetti showed up. It was basically a bowl of sauce with about six noodles in it. And it was ice cold. We sent it back. We drive in from Watkinsville occasionally. The pizza is always good, but sometimes greasy. Buffalo wings are always great, especially the honey buffalo. The staff does a great job in a tight space and we enjoy the environment. Overall we recommend it. read more

We found ourselves in Madison, Georgia while driving across the country, looking for a drink and some grub. It looked like the whole town was in here too. It's a casual joint, with all the friendliness you'd hope for in a small town local gathering spot. They have a surprisingly thorough beer selection, and our waitress could tell us a little bit about each one we asked about. I'm dairy free, which can be challenging (to say the least). I asked if I could have a pizza made without the cheese. Our waitress said no problem, and asked me some questions about my dietary restrictions to make sure I'd be totally ok with the food. We split a salad, wihout realizing it came with cheese, but when it was brought out, our waitress mentioned she'd left the cheese off, but could bring it on the side for my boyfriend if he wanted it. Impressed! I'm not usually looked after so thoughtfully. One excellent way of finding out whether or not the pizza is made fresh in house is the cheese test: if they can't make your pie without something, it means it's frozen. Here, everything is obviously made fresh and to order. Deep dish, hearty pizzas, loaded with customizable toppings. I had all the vegetables, and only could manage about half of my personal-sized pizza. They do a weekly pub trivia here, which we stuck around for. Amici feels like a cross between your local watering hole, comfort food takeout spot, and casual family restaurant. A really nice place to stumble upon, with great service. read more
