Used safecoat no VOC paint from Amicus Green to paint my bathroom
    Krissy R.

I go here for most of my home renovating needs. Jason Holstine who owns it and works there is incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive. He has helped me many times - from choosing Safecoat paints to installing and finishing my mother's hardwood floor with beautiful Osmo finish. Right now he is helping me pick out wool carpet. He's honest, upfront and takes the time to talk to you one on one about your home needs. I highly recommend this store.

I love my vanity made of wood certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council to be grown in a renewable process environment.

Between the outstanding staff and displays in the showroom, the ideas to make your home truly beautiful are everywhere. However, most importantly, I worked with Catalina Olmos for my kitchen and backsplash design and Nari Nkim for my tile and vanity choices. These women have made my newly built home a showstopper. If you're in the market to renovate or build a new kitchen, Catalina is the person I highly recommend. If you're looking to renovate or build new bathrooms and/or choose tile, Nari is the person I also highly recommend. Their ideas are a 10!!! They have been nothing short of a pleasure to work with!!!! (My photos are showing my house that's still under construction, but you can see their talent.)

After I picked up the board and took it home, I realized I I messed up the measurements. The installed transition looks awesome and I'm already thinking of my next project to take to their shop. Highly recommend!

Plyers Mill Road comes off of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, when you cross Connecticut Avenue, Plyers Mill picks up on the other side. If the red awning-gas station on Connecticut and Plyers Mill is in your site, you're there. It's by the Kensington Fire House. Once found, you've found a treasure. Shop is filled with gorgeous woods, has the immistakable heady fragrance of freshly sawn wood. No showroom, but who needs it---they have a great website. Take a look around the website, it's extensive. Might have a link to Facebook too. Folks at Abernethy Sticks know their wood, that's for sure. If there's a better wood for your project, they'll recommend it. One note of caution, have your measurements with you. If you have a picture from a magazine, bring it so you can share the idea to be on the same page at the get-go. Write yourself an email and have the notes in front of you. It's not a one man shop, but they're busy and you'd be keeping them from something. Be prepared because it's easy to do so. Browse the website, it'll answer most questions. Thought I might find a bulletin board with business cards for woodworkers for hire, but Abernethy Sticks doesn't provide references. That's what we have Yelp for. I found them because I need a fascia board. TW Perry referred me to Abernethy's because they're top notch and can do Millwork to order. I had a quick chat when I visited, they recommended the wood: yes, it'll take a paint, yes, they can do rake and finish pieces to order. Turnaround is a couple of days if they have the wood. Suggested getting the contractor to measure so we can be exact. Great, we're in business, I'll give you a call when I have the size. There was a big thick piece of black walnut by the door. It wanted to go home with me even though I have no immediate use for it. I felt sorry for it, gave my credit card and they loaded to the car for me. You know animal rescue? Same. http://asticks.com/

Had to bring in management to get the salesman to finally set that up. Then they sent one company out to take measurements and tell us what to expect, and a totally different company (Quality Kitchens) actually did the work, which they did very differently from what the first company said would happen (it's a good foot lower than we were told). They told me the inspection would happen in about a week. A month goes by and no inspection. I contact the salesman at Home Depot (Amit), and he says he'll "look into it." Another month or so goes by - no word. I get hold of them again and they have to nerve to tell me "the homeowner is responsible for arranging safety inspections." WSSC does gas inspections in Rockville, and their regs say the gasfitter is required to ensure the inspection happens within a matter of days after installation. Adding to the fun, the oven's steam clean' feature doesn't work. Frigidaire came out and told me thy can't service it because it wasn't installed correctly. Now I have to contact WSSC directly to make sure this thing doesn't explode. In short: don't use Home Depot Design Center

Fasil who helped us during the planning process was very helpful and paid attention to detail, particularly when it came to measuring the space and ordering the right size cabinets etc. The big downside was that even though we paid for the right amount of floor tiles, only half of them were delivered, apparently due to a miscommunication between Home Depot and the vendor. Because of that, construction was stalling 3+ days. Barbara Anne, a customer service representative from the Home Depot Design Center was very friendly but didn't really help to accelerate the re-ordering of the missing tiles. When I made the urgency clear (we have already been without a kitchen for a week and can't wait for another two), she recommended for me to call the vendor directly. I spent a day on the phone to get the tiles delivered to a Home Depot facility in Gaithersburg even though I was promised by Barbara Anne to get them delivered to my house for the inconvenience. I had to pick them up myself with my vehicle which was scary as it hit the weight limit. After I picked up the tiles and brought them home, I spoke with Barbara Anne about a compensation for our inconveniences and she said that she'd speak to her manager. After that I never heard from her again and she ghosted me/didn't pick up the phone anymore. Because of the handling of this situation, I'm a frustrated customer and would not recommend the Home Depot Design Center.
