    Rice, Mission corn tortilla
    Cristina P.

The only good thing about this spot was the ambiance. It was well decorated. Our food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the shrimp tacos and the taco salad. For the shrimp tacos we requested corn tortillas. I was surprised to receive Mission corn tortillas. You can't mistake the flavor of a Mission corn tortilla. I was also surprised it was barely warmed. The shrimp was well cooked and I liked the chipotle sauce. Other than that, the shrimp tacos were not worth ordering. The taco salad came in a fried large taco shell. I don't know how they did it, but the taco shell tasted like watermelon. I love watermelon but not in my taco salad.

We were staying at the hotel that is associated with this restaurant. We decided to give it try our last night there since we were all pretty tired and just somewhat hungry... we went in with intentions of sharing an appetizer and calling it a night. We ordered the ice tea which I'm mentioning because we had eaten in Old town and had iced tea and sent it back as it was pretty bad and we were hesitant to order ice tea anywhere else or they didn't offer fresh brewed tea, but they did here and it was refreshing! I ordered taquitos, my husband and son both ordered a quesadilla one had carne asada the other pollo... so much for sharing an appetizer Our waiter was great, attentive and friendly! Our food was hot and hit the spot! Would definitely come back!

This place really hit the spot! The food here was excellent. The taco salad with chicken was so good. I really loved this place. The service was friendly and the ambiance was amazing. I wish I could come back here but I have to go back up north in a few days. I give them 5 stars I highly recommend people try this place

Mexican food in the Kings Inn San Diego. What can you say about it. I ordered the chile relleno plater. Good tasting. Would like a little more cheese in or on top. Rice and beans were good. Not dry or too wet. The star of the meal was warm. Beans and rice were hotter than the Chile relleno. Service was fast, even with other couples and one large group when I was there. The waiter was kind enough to correct me on my order as to which plater I wanted because there were two types of Chile relleno platers. Ambiance was pleasant and not loud. Enough to enjoy music and my meal. Pros: The dish was good. Nice atmosphere to enjoy your meal and the company you are with. Cons: Wish my Chile relleno was just as temperature hot like my rice and beans. Would I go back: If you been following me. I also like to try other things on the menu. So, this one is an maybe. Wouldn't go out of my way.

This place was a hidden gem for Mexican food! At first, I wondered if the reviews were accurate but they definitely were. It wasn't too crowded and we were able to get situated quickly. Our server was a true gentlemen and did a great job getting us drinks and recommending entrees. The margaritas were so good and their salsa was not spicy but still had flavor. They do tell you they charge 2.95 for a refill of chips and salsa, but we did not need it. We had the fish burrito, chicken fajitas, chicken wings and chicken enchilada dinner. All entrees were delicious and tasted authentic. Also, my husband wanted Chili Colorado but changed his mind and the server brought out a sample of it which was not only a kind gesture but it was so good! For people staying in or around hotel circle and are looking for some good Mexican food, look no further!

For what it is, The Amigo Spot gets 5 stars. What is The Amigo Spot? It is an old-school Mexican restaurant located in the super cool, mid-century King's Inn hotel in Hotel Circle. You turn left inside the neat old hotel lobby and you enter The Amigo Spot. Decor is fun! It's like stepping back in time. Ask for a booth. They are a little more dimly lit, which makes the experience even better. My Enchiladas Suizas was incredible. They make the best green sauce and the cheese they use is perfect. If I were going to get another margarita here, I'd ask that it be made with fresh lime instead of a mix. But everything else we had was in-sane. The chips and salsa are addictive as hell. Cannot wait to go back... over and over again!

The Amigo Spot is located in the pristine mid-century King's Inn in Mission Valley. The building has not been renovated or "refreshed", so it is as if you are back in 1958, which is wonderful. No fake "vintage" here. I like the banquettes for two in the bar when you enter the dining room at The Amigo Spot. The house Margarita is good and only $8.00. The menu is still on a COVID-19 streamline version, so there is a limited selection. We hear they are "working on a new menu", but when will it be revealed? For now, the Pollo "en crema" is acceptable, and the corn tortillas offered with the meal are better than expected. Service by the bartender, Amado [who will take care of you if you sit in the bar area] is exceptionally kind, and he is fun to speak with. He also makes a good after dinner Café Mexicano, with Tequila and Kahlua, topped with whipped cream and served in a clear glass mug with a handle. After dinner, be sure to take a stroll through the King's Inn gardens to the kidney shaped pool surrounded by palms. It is located in a courtyard in the center of the hotel. It has a perfectly mid-century vibe. When I visited this evening, there was a lone swimmer rippling through the waters and the sky was a rosy pink from the sunset. It was absolutely gorgeous!

Excellent food and service. Menu pretty extensive. Came out fast and hot! Fun atmosphere, not very busy when we went.

I heard reservations were required months out but i went in the same day. It was the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend around lunch time but they took walk ins left and right so maybe just dinner is what needs to be booked in advance? The decor was immaculate and everything that came out was delicious and it came out very fast. It is connected to the Lafayette hotel which has the jungle room, bowling alley, pool and multiple bars. Beware there's only street parking, no valet service (unless you're a hotel guest), so that can present a challenge. Reservations a MUST on weekends, especially with a group. Now for the food reviews. Everything we ordered was delicious from the squash blossom and smashed tuna tartare appetizers to the El Festin platter (made for groups) . Since the main dining area is kept dark for the dramatic gothic effect, it's tricky to rely on your sense of sight for the presentation of each of the dish. The highlight for me was the chili garlic shrimp tacos. So full of flavor! The only drawback is that many of their dishes are made with nuts. So if you have a nut allergy, which one of us in our group did, the menu was limiting. Overall, it's an incredible place for first timers and out-of- towners. I might return for a special celebration, but not repeatedly. Once is good enough experience, especially with so many other special dining options in our fine city.

Delicious food, great view, and wonderful hospitality!…read more On our last evening in San Diego, we went to Coasterra to wrap up our vacation there. This restaurant came highly recommended by major Visit San Diego websites, and we felt we should give it a try. Located right next to the water, the restaurant offers expansive view of the harbor and the San Diego skyline. Sitting is about 50/50 indoor vs. outdoor, and we chose the indoor sitting as it tended to get colder in the evening. Parking is available out front, but we took Lyft there. We came in around Happy Hour, and we were able to score two appetizers for $11 each. We got fried calamari and fish cervice as appetizers. For entree, we had the fish tacos and scallops. Both of the appetizers were excellent, and the cervice was so light and flavorful. My husband loved his scallop entree, and the taste and presentation were original and outstanding. My fish taco was enjoyable as well. For dessert, we had fresh churro that was paired with ice cream, which was excellent as well. Our meal came to $143 with taxes, which was a very good value with the quality and services offered. Our waiter was attentive and friendly, which made us felt right at home. As for the ambiance, it felt modern and relaxed. There were diverse customers from locals, tourists, and business people. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience and we will return.

The main courses we ordered we not what our taste buds were looking for. The flan ( Yes, the flan ) was the best flan I have ever consumed.
