Had a great experience at Amina recently. I loved the ambience and the size of the dining area. Our server was wonderful, she was very helpful and gave great suggestions about food and drinks to order and to try and she was very patient with our group which was nice. For my meal, I tried the branzino and I had a side of cabbage which was very flavorful and spiced with curry and other spices. It was a unique way to have cabbage, but I really enjoyed it and so did the rest of my group. The Bronzino was flavorful, I ate the whole thing. I also tried the sliders and thought they were seasoned really well. I tried the souk sour as my cocktail and although it was very pretty, it had a unique flavor that I didn't love unfortunately. it came highly recommended, but I just don't think it worked for my flavor palette. Overall great experience here and I would definitely return. I think they have plenty of food and drink options and the prices are reasonable. read more

Great ambience if you're looking for lively music that's soulful and beautiful ambiance for date night or a night with friends. The service was pretty good, but there was some nuances to the menu that I wish I didn't have to experience. For example there were items at least two items that are on the menu, but not available tonight. Overall, our bill came to $290 for two people. This is when I realize why the rating on Yelp is low. As someone who cooks red snapper at home, I didn't feel great paying $48 for red snapper bites. During the dinner experience, I felt rushed. We were asked to move to a high top or bar seat to allow them to set up for a larger party. Pro tip: Park in the garage beside the restaurant and they will validate your ticket for up to two hours. read more

Visited Amina for the first time and it was a good experience. The ambiance is really nice with an upscale feel. The staff was very nice and gave good recommendations and descriptions of the food options. I had the Snapper which was good, although it could have had just a little more flavor, but it was good. read more

Trying to give this restaurant grace, as it's currently soft opening. But whew, it's tough. Located in the heart of Uptown Charlotte, this new TikTok famous restaurant offers beautiful decor and sub par service and food. After parking ($10 in the adjacent lot), we could see the large crowd through the frosted glass windows. We had a 8:00 reservation on a Friday night. It took 20 minutes to get seated. We were seated at a TINY table that wobbled, in the bar area. Our server Jahlil did his best, he was doubling as the bartender. My friend immediately noticed all the full tables and no food being served. Initially we ordered the lentil sambusas, wings, snapper, branzino, cauliflower main dish, and crispy chicken salad. Not long after ordering we were told they were out of the snapper, cauliflower, and salad. We subbed for the beef flat bread and Brussels sprouts. Our apps came out with our entrees. There was no space on the table. The fish was good but lukewarm, they forgot to season the wings, the flat bread was mid, the sambusas were amazing, Brussels were fine. Gratuity is included at 18%. Our total was close to $200, and I can't say we'll be back anytime soon. Also, 5 days after dining, the head chef left. read more

If you want an aesthetically pleasing restaurant this is your place! However the food I just wasn't satisfied with. My bill was over $86 and I order an entree, side, and the drink was even 1/2. I think the place is gorgeous and I had an amazing server I just can't justify most of the entree being over $40. read more

The place is very aesthetically pleasing! Soft music played while we were there for a birthday celebration on a Tuesday night. The place was not busy but the service wasn't the quickest. Bosch (I think was our server's name) was very polite and friendly. The food...some came out not warm, bland & was sent back. The brussel sprouts were over cooked, the crab toast was cold & bland. The beef Sambusa was very flavorful & good, the rice was different..too much lemon & the lamb spheres were very good! The prices for the amount of food doesn't match. $23 for a regular sized burger and no sides is ridiculous. Not sure if it was an off night but it was definitely hit & miss. read more

We visited this establishment before going to a concert uptown. I would say this was an overall good experience with customer service. I ordered the branzino, it had a great crispy texture on the outside. I would have liked the branzino to have more flavor. I was not a fan of the red tomato paste on top of it. My friend agreed that the fish overall could've used more flavor, but she did enjoy the tomato paste on top of hers. I'm only taking away one star due to the flavor of the fish and the price point being $54 for only a piece of fish and no sides that came with it. read more

I'm giving this review from a vegan foodie POV -- Amina deserves 5 The food is really good and a lot of the menu can be made vegetarian or vegan (like the flatbread, carrots, most sides/appetizers and soon the burger). There weren't any options for vegan dessert though, but that can easily be fixed with something like sorbet (passion fruit would be a good option) or a vegan cinnamon roll. The ambiance was niceeeee. I love the way this restaurant is put together. This sounds silly but I can tell they worked with an interior designer. Every detail feels intentional Lastly, the service was actually good! We went around 6:30 on a weekday. There weren't a lot of people there. Our waiter was very attentive and laughed at our silly jokes and was patient (we have a pescatarian, a vegan, a vegetarian, and someone that eats like a 10 year old), so satisfying everyone is quite the feat, but Amina did that. Amina did not disappoint from the ambiance, the vibes & the cuisine with Chef Chianti as a head chef there I knew it would be pretty solid . This was my first time dining here. I am willing to give this place another try, but not until the service improves. The service is very slow. I recommend going earlier or not with a large party. The ambiance is very beautiful. Most of our dishes were also very good. I recommend the salmon, Caesar salad, and the red snapper. The steak tins were very Under seasoned. Our party ordered three of them and everyone had to request extra salt just to have flavor pull through. This place has potential, but there are still a few kinks to work out. read more

Out globetrotting trotting in Charlotte and came across Amina. After researching the restaurant we found they have been open only a short period of time. We had a reservation and were quickly seated. The overall atmosphere was upscale, with a warm comfortable open atmosphere. Our hostess seated us however she took a minute to come back to check on us and take our order. We ordered drinks appetizers and our main courses all at once and asked the waitress if they would stagger delivery of the items. (Eg., first would come the appetizers later followed by the main course). Everything came at once..although we asked for lemons and limes we had to remind the waitress to bring the items. Overall the presentation was excellent. Yet a few miscommunication in that the steak was supposed to be medium, it was well done and the lamb was requested at medium plus, it came rare. The manager (outstanding I must say) came to the table and quickly remedied the issue and made everyone whole. I chalked up the issues as growing pains. Aesthetics are stunning - 10/10 Waitstaff - 08/10 Food - 7/10 ....(Some things were good (lamb, Brussels sprouts, cabbage), some ok (fish, carrots) the sambusa was not good at all.) What needs improvement: Food timing is off. One of the sides came out first. Appetizers came out 3rd. No space between appetizers and mains. We ended up with so many plates on the table. None of the sides and appetizers came out with serving utensils. Know before you go: You pay at your table on a handheld tap machine. There is 18% gratuity automatic and after you tap another screen brings up a tip option (which is a tip on top of the 18%) just be aware because our server didn't disclose that until after I asked about the percentage. Servers should disclose and not say "it was written on the ticket". Overall: I recommend giving it a try. Cool spot and the owner and wait staff were very very nice. read more

Had been seeing Amina all over instagram and booked a reservation once it was posted that they were open. The restaurant is beautiful but they are still in the soft opening stages of working the kinks out (wish we would've known). Food was pretty good, more of a shareable style menu. The tables favorites were the wings and branzino. They do not have full bar service yet, so you are limited to the drinks on the menu or shots which is....interesting. 18% gratuity is added to the bill, which the server "seemed" confused about and received additional from our table under these pretenses so please be aware! Overall it will be a nice destination once they get operations and service standards together. I say wait to go until after the grand opening! read more

The food has real depth of flavor, the cocktails are well crafted, and the space itself is beautiful. Upscale, but still welcoming and easy to enjoy. Me and a couple friends went her for happy hour. The vibes were amazing it was beautiful and the live music was really nice. The food was good not great and the price is not consistent with the quality at all on food or drinks. I love fine dining and while the prices suggest it this is not fine dining at all. When we asked for our check we did not receive and itemized bill and when we paid we asked for receipts we never received I had to call and text we went out Thursday and I did not get it till Saturday. I immediately noticed we were over charged and stated so to the manager he dismissed my claim without any research it took 2 calls and me going item by item with a calculator and wait for a second call to even get him to admit it was incorrect he blamed every else for the mistake. I told him the food that was being overcharged and the food deal was over at 8 we ordered the last item before 8 but evidently because it didn't get sent to the kitchen till 8 it was not discounted even after he saw that he had over charged us by almost 40 dollars. He only offered to the penny what was over charged and tried to offer a gift card at first. If you go here make sure you check your bill and be prepared to overpay either way. I ended up having to put in a claim with my bank! read more

You need to check out Amina in downtown Charlotte, and the atmosphere was easily the highlight. The vibe is warm, stylish, and perfect for a night out Great lighting, musc , and overall energy. The lamb chops (which was $50) for three pieces is absurd. First off, why are the lamb chops sweet. Secondly, we also got the ribeye (which was basically $100) just for it to be under-seasoned. It doesn't look like they're quite ready to fully open. The service and ambiance were good, however on the night that we went, the air conditioning was not working so it was quite warm in there. We got there at 8:00pm and they were already out of the oxtail sliders and a few other items. The snapper was the only dish I felt was really good. Everything else was so so. I ordered the branzino and jasmine rice for a side. Neither plate came out while we were eating so I ended up taking the order to go since everyone else was done eating. The used appetizer plates and empty glasses were never picked up so our table stayed dirty the whole time we were there. I was disappointed because I really wanted to support this restaurant.
