My husband and I had a phenomenal dinner at the Goodyear house a couple of weeks ago. Our server was phenomenal and all the servers stopped by our table. You could tell everyone was passionate and loved working here. We split the Arancini which is a MUST! The wings had incredible flavor and were perfectly cooked. My husband got the pimento cheese burger with the shaken bag fried. Best burger we've had in Charlotte so far and omg SO many fries. We had tons to take home. I had the summer berry salad with shrimp which was light and had a nice acidity with the blueberry vinaigrette. We finished off with the homemade pistachios banana bread and ice cream. To top off it off since we told our server we recently moved to Charlotte he ran across the street to get us a few welcome pastries. It was so kind and made me tear up. Goodyear house has good ambiance, but can't give them much more than that. We sat at 7pm on Friday. We ordered the bread appetizer. They were completely out of bread. I ordered the trout. They were out of trout. At 7:15pm on a Friday night. Whichever manager is in charge of stocking needs to take a good long look in the mirror. I pivoted to ribeye and the steak was extremely fatty. Not a great cook and the sauce (Diannes sauce) is basically a gravy and thank god i did not get that directly on my steak. The burger was small for being $18. The candle was fake and dimming even though there was soot on the votive glass- clearly showing they have downgraded or cut costs because there are no real candles on the table anymore. I have visited the Goodyear House multiple times and always had a great experience. I am a bit biased since, back in the day, this was my great grandparents home, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. It was also amazing to be able to take my mom here when she was visiting. That being said, I love how they have kept many aspects of the original home, decorated with historical items from the neighborhood, and crated a beautiful back yard/patio area. The food and staff always deliver. The rotating cocktail menu always offers unique and distinct choices. Food-wise, you can't go wrong with the Shaken Fry Bag - all of the flavors are incredible, but if I have to pick a favorite it would be the garlic and herb parmesan. I am also a big fan of the Goopy Burger and Marinated Shrimp. They typically have some specials and rotating items, so be sure to check those out! read more

Loved this outdoor space! There was a private event inside so we went outside, and the area underneath the awning was so peaceful with 2 tvs and lots of tables. There were so many bugs so make sure you have your bug spray! Our drinks were delicious and our waitress was so kind to help us customize our drinks! I had heard so many great things about this place, so maybe I caught them on an off night, but unfortunately my experience fell pretty short of expectations. The location is a bit unusual, tucked into a residential area, and parking was difficult. That said, the patio was lovely and the overall ambiance was definitely one of the highlights. The restaurant was packed for a weeknight, so it may have been an understaffing issue, but service was noticeably slow throughout the evening. One thing that stood out right away was that the menu felt pretty limited, with not a lot of variety to choose from, which made the disappointing food even more frustrating. The shaken fries were absolutely fantastic and easily the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, the summer berry salad was one of the most disappointing dishes I've had in a long time. The menu described it as featuring "locally sourced summer berries and fruits," but in reality it was mostly dripping wet lettuce with just a handful of blackberries thrown on top. It felt poorly thought out, and all the blackberry seeds made it difficult to enjoy. We had a great meal this evening at The Goodyear House. When preparing to visit Charlotte this restaurant was on a few lists. It wasn't near our hotel but I'm glad we made the trip. Our waiter, John, was great. We had the arancini and corn ribs to start. Both were great. We split the wedge salad (blue cheese on the side for me) and it was our favorite dish of the night. It was the perfect balance of crunch and flavor. We split the goopy burger and left pleasantly stuffed. It's definitely worth the drive and visit. You won't be disappointed. read more

This was my final solo dinner date of 2025 and it did not disappoint! I came on Tues around 8pm and enjoyed a couple tasty drinks and tried the chicken wings and the carbonara pasta. It was not too busy at the time although the bartender had mentioned to some others that they had been swamped earlier so I chose a good time to go. The spicy Paloma was very tasty and the sparkling rose was refreshing and crisp. The wings were sooo tender and flavorful, and they were super meaty, a hearty portion for a half dozen. The carbonara was a lot smaller than expected but fine with me because I finished it all there. There's plenty of regular table seating plus an outdoor covered back patio, but too chilly for me. We had to ask the waitress where the shrimp was as she seemed to have forgotten that we ordered the shrimp. The arancini were good and the shrimp were just OK. They have a massive outdoor area and a bar separate from dining, so lots of seating options. This place was a major disappointment. The cocktails were weak and mediocre (wife and I tried the easy sipper, the smokealoma, the mai tai, and the old fashioned). The old fashioned was the only good offering of the 4. The food was below average and poor for the price. The steak frites featured fries that weren't crispy, and dipping sauce had to be requested. The flank steak was ordered medium rare but it was unevenly cooked, so about half of it was well done. The flavor was OK but it was drowned in a creamy sauce. Surprisingly bad for $42. The trout was an abomination. It was a soupy dish and the skin was slimy. You cannot serve skin on trout at a nice place like this if the skin is not crispy. I recommend the owners go a few doors down to Haberdish and try their delectable trout with crispy skin to see how this dish should be prepared. The only good food item we had was the cashew Mac and it was a very good offering of vegan Mac. But that could not make up for mediocre to poor offerings across the menu. Anybody considering this restaurant should pass and go to one of the many nice establishments on this same street. You'll get a better meal for less. read more

My manager and coworkers took me to The Goodyear House for my birthday, and it was such a great experience! I currently live in the NoDa area, and this restaurant is right in the heart of it. If you're from Charlotte, you already know how cute and lively NoDa is, and The Goodyear House fits perfectly into that vibe. The restaurant itself is adorable. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, and the outdoor area is especially nice. There's an outdoor bar, plenty of tables, and even heaters to keep you warm if it's chilly. It's such a cozy and inviting space, definitely somewhere I'd go back to again. From what my coworkers told me, their menu is a bit limited and changes occasionally, but everything we ordered was good. We tried several appetizers including the fry bag (we got the garlic parmesan seasoning, which was delicious), some rice balls, and the shrimp appetizer. Everything came out quickly and fresh. For my main dish, I ordered the Goopy Burger. I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. It was good and definitely worth trying. Everyone else got different dishes, and everyone seemed happy with their food. Our waitress was fantastic, super friendly, cute, and really made the experience enjoyable. The service overall was excellent. They even offered me a free dessert for my birthday, but I opted out, and instead, she brought me a complimentary glass of champagne, which I thought was such a nice touch. The only downside is the parking. There's no dedicated lot, just street parking. Some people park across the street at the YMCA, but I heard they charge through ParkMobile by license plate. If you're coming with a group, carpooling definitely makes things easier. Overall, The Goodyear House is a charming, cozy spot with great food, excellent service, and a fun atmosphere. Start to finish this was terrible. We were seated for 20 minutes before we were brought water and it took another 25 after that to receive the drinks we had ordered. The host and servers were clearly not in communication with one another because we literally saw them pointing to our table to try to figure out whose it was. Every single thing we asked for throughout the evening took multiple requests and reminders: ketchup, silverware, napkins, the original drinks we ordered, refills, etc. There was a small menu for father's day which is totally understandable, but it felt like half of the listed items were meat between two slices of bread. I wish they would've picked different items, but that is by no means the ultimate reason for my disappointment. The food itself was SO SO salty to the point that it was almost inedible. I had the hashbrowns which directly mirrored those from costco that you microwave for 30 seconds along with a stale and hard bun on my sandwich. Our server was kind, but not attentive at all. When our food came, we didn't have any silverware and it took the waitstaff three separate trips to get the five of us each a full set of silverware. I did not realize that counting could be so hard for multiple full grown adults. The only redeemable part about this meal was the ambiance of the restaurant. It was a nice day outside and the outdoor area in the back is well set up. I will not be returning here because there was genuinely nothing that went right during our meal. Cute spot in Noda. If the weather wasn't so hot, it would be really cute to dine outdoors. Our party of 9 had a nice table inside though the flies were really coming at us. Midway they gave us some of those automated fly swatters that helped a lot. To start, we ordered their crispy rice balls and marinated shrimp. The crispy rice balls were pretty good, a nice kick from the romesco. The marinated shrimp was also such a variety of flavors with butter, chili oil, and bay seasoned saltines. Really good. I had the No Rain cocktail but I didn't taste the alcohol at all though it was very refreshing in the humid weather. After that, I had glasses of their brut which was perfect. For my entree I went for the shrimp and grits as it's always a must for me when in the South. However, I didn't care for this version. Wasn't a fan of the tarragon or tomato sauce. I'm sure others like the change of it from your basic shrimp and grits, but it wasn't what I was looking for at all. Dessert I had to try the buttermilk panna cotta but it was too watery for me. While visiting my son in Charlotte, we were heading to Noda for dinner. We had one place in mind, and on a whim, decided to stop by the Goodyear House to see what they had to offer. Great decision! There were plenty of good options on the menu and a beautiful setting to enjoy it in. What we ate: The garlic-parm shaken fry bag as an app. We both went with the Flounder as our main dish. Cooked to perfection! Our waiter, Nathan, was a trooper. He was walking around with a boot on his foot, but provided us service like being in the company of a friend. He was friendly and polite. A conversationalist who made us feel so welcomed and made our dining experience inviting. The setting/scenery: There is indoor and outdoor seating. From the entrance, you're not able to see how large the space is. There outdoor area is huge and provides the perfect backdrop for a wedding or other gathering. They have a greenhouse which is there closed off area for gatherings with a play area right behind it. The greenhouse reminded me of a farm-to-table gathering I'd seen before. Overall, The Goodyear House is a 10/10. Great if you're dining alone or with others. Definitely a spot I'll be visiting more often. read more

Our extended family group of 4 adults and 2 kiddos came in for brunch on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. We were seated outside under the massive pine tree at a picnic table. It's a great setting, both inside and out. Our server was very nice, welcoming and checked in on us regularly. The food was great as well! The SEC egg sandwich is fantastic! I have been a fan of GYH since they opened... but the past several times I have been, the wait staff have been rude and unhelpful, the food quality has diminished, and the prices just seem to be going up... Most recently, we went for brunch... Paid 12 dollars for a piece of barely toasted store-bought bread with "egg salad" (if you could even call it that). Genuinely it was basically a smear of maybe a half of a hardboiled egg with mayo.. for $12?! insane but OK. I'm willing to look past the overpriced toast for great service. But alas, we were helped by a surly waitress who just seemed upset to be there. I understand that she may have been having a bad day, but it was honestly uncomfortable to even ask for the items she continually failed to bring us. We have given GYH a second chance, a third chance, and now we're just over it. Best of luck - really hope y'all get your shit together. read more

Went here for Father's Day brunch. Severely disappointed. Despite the relatively good reviews, this was some of the slowest service I have ever received. Took over 45 minutes to get our drinks alone. Staff was very kind; however, we frequently didn't receive stuff we asked for and had to ask for things like napkins and silverware. Another member of our party had to ask three times for more coffee, waiting 15 minutes afterward each time before receiving it. The food itself was severely over-salted, almost to the point where it was inedible. A burger we ordered was overcooked, and not a single member of our party enjoyed the food whatsoever. The restaurant itself is very nice, with a large courtyard in the back. No part of my experience was done well though. I will most certainly will not be back. read more

The reason for the low stars is the lack of options I felt on food. Most things had pork in it, which I don't eat. It was very limited on vegetarian or seafood/chicken options. I enjoyed the trout, but I felt it was overpriced for what it was. None of the dishes could be customized (like getting shrimp and grits without pork). We've heard good things about Goodyear and wanted to try it before we drove to our Airbnb in Pennsylvania. We had dinner here and it did not disappoint. We sat outside (Note to Self: Don't sit the chairs where the birds hang on the roof, you will get bird poop on your!) The weather was gorgeous (October) and the food wasn't disappointing either. I mean, the burger and shrimp/grits was not that spectacular, so don't get that, but everything else was awesome. GYH used to be my favorite restaurant in Charlotte. I went a week ago and got my usual - shaken fries with cashew Mac with steak. They may have changed the cashew Mac recipe because it was terrible. It tasted like they put a cup of tajin in it and it was weird. The steak was really tough, couldn't eat it. The cocktails are good and service was good. We gave it another chance and got takeout tonight and got the goopy burger and pimento burger. Both buns were obviously frozen for a very long time because they crumbled apart when we picked our burgers up and we couldn't eat the buns. Burger was dry. For the price, not worth it. The food quality has really gone downhill and I won't be getting the food there again. Would recommend for cocktails or wine and shaken fries as the patio ambiance is great, but the food outside of the fries is terrible now. read more

I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but I want to prevent others from spending their money here. This was our first visit - for Father's Day brunch. Unfortunately, nothing went well other than being seated quickly for our reservation. 15 min for initial visit from waitress, having to ask for ordered drinks 20 min after placing order, having to ask repeatedly for napkins and silverware, out of some food items, food that was unattractive for the price (McDonald's hash browns) and inedible (sooo salty, stale bread), unanswered requests for coffee refills. The only redeeming aspect was the pleasant environment, but food and service were the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. I can't believe I paid for such a terrible experience. read more

Unfortunately I didn't take any photos of the patio area this visit, but the ambiance here is unbeatable! Best patio in Charlotte by far. They've even added small fans to each table to keep bugs away from the food (which is a great touch since that's usually unavoidable otherwise when dining outdoors). The food itself is consistently fantastic. The cashew mac is so unique and flavorful and the salads are always fresh. I've never seen cannabis infused "cocktails" offered in Charlotte, and greatly enjoyed Goodyear's take on it! Our sever provided great recommendations and was super friendly and prompt. The food took a little while to arrive, but I visited on a Friday night during prime time so that's to be expected. Great presentation of everything. All I have to say is you BETTER get fries with your meal or even as your meal! This was a cute dinner with some girl friends and I can't wait to go back. Our server was fantastic- gave us time to look over the menu, answered any questions we had and even laughed with us a few times when making sure we were all set. I'm not kidding about the fries. They are a thinner fry that has an extra crunchy crust that pack so much flavor. The aioli is a must on the side, but in all honesty, not even needed.
