I really wanted to love Christy's Creole Kitchen because the atmosphere was great. The restaurant is beautiful, the music was a vibe, and my Shirley Temple was delicious. My mom and I arrived right when they opened at 5:00 p.m. Around 6:15, my mom's gumbo came out even though we had ordered our salmon bites appetizer first, which was confusing. The salmon bites didn't come out until around 6:30, and we didn't receive our entrées until close to 7:00. Waiting nearly two hours for our food after arriving at opening was disappointing. My mom enjoyed her fish and grits, and the gumbo was really good. We were accidentally given a large gumbo instead of the small one we ordered. While we appreciated the extra food, mistakes like that can affect the flow of the kitchen. I ordered the fish po' boy, and although the fish was crispy, it had almost no seasoning or flavor. We also placed a to-go order, but it came with rice and beans instead of the green beans we ordered. Overall, I think the restaurant has a lot of potential, and I would try it again. The atmosphere and music were great, and parts of the meal were enjoyable. However, the long wait, food coming out in the wrong order, and multiple order mistakes took away from the overall experience. If you decide to visit, I'd recommend arriving right when they open and being prepared for a longer wait. read more

I came for dinner on a saturday night. We sat at the bar. The space is nice and intimate. There weren't a lot of people waiting and people seemed to be seated quickly. They do offer 2 hour valet. I ordered a drink similar to a french 75, it was tasty. Food - Gumbo - 10/10. There was a nice amount of seafood, sausage and chicken. Fried chicken platter - Green beans and jambalaya for sides 4/10 - The season wasn't seasoned which was disappointing. The greens beans were good and the jambalaya was a bit dry and not very flavorful. I would come back to try a different dish since the gumbo was so tasty. I wanted to give Kristy's another try after previously visiting the location off Thrift Road, so I invited two friends to join me at the new location. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, there was no wait, and the customer service was good. We started with the Zydeco Fries as an appetizer, and honestly, they were the best thing we ordered. I would definitely recommend them. For our entrées, both of my friends ordered the chicken wing meals with coleslaw and green beans. I ordered the Catfish Atchafalaya with jambalaya and red beans and rice. Unfortunately, the chicken wings were undercooked and had to be sent back. Management handled the situation professionally by having the wings recooked and offering 50% off their meals, along with a complimentary drink from the bar, which my friends declined. My Catfish Atchafalaya was okay, but most of my food was cold, with the exception of the red beans and rice. Another concern was the fruit flies flying around while we were trying to enjoy our meal, which was very disturbing. Even though my friends declined to have their meals remade, management still had fresh meals prepared for them, which I appreciated. If you enjoy large, whole chicken wings, this may be an option for you once they are cooked properly. I always want to support businesses within my community and culture, but there are definitely some things that need to be worked out, particularly with food temperature, proper cooking, and the fruit fly issue. Based on this visit, if you choose to dine here the one item I can confidently recommend is the Zydeco Fries. read more

Horrible experience. The atmosphere was nice, but the seating accommodations for fourteen people were terrible. We were crowded and extremely uncomfortable. The lavender lemonade looked more like blue Hawaiian Punch, and unfortunately, it tasted awful. I'm not sure what was in it, but it definitely did not taste like lavender lemonade. The hostess was also rude. I found out that I couldn't return my drink, even though I barely touched it because it didn't taste right. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, but the seating, drink, and customer service made for a very disappointing experience. The turkey wings had absolutely no flavor. The fried turkey was fried in the same oil as the chicken wings, and there was no seasoning or flavor at all. On top of that, the turkey was very chewy and hard. Very disappointing. read more

Really wanted to like this place as my boyfriend loves getting Cajun food for date night, but unfortunately we didn't have a good experience. The atmosphere is adorable, and the food and drinks looked amazing at other tables. We didn't have a reservation, but it was a weeknight, and we hoped we'd be able to walk in. Upon arrival, the hostess was a bit rude and sat us at a table right next to the ramp and musician. It wasn't ideal but we were fine with it since we just walked in. We sat for at least 15 minutes and no one came by our table, not even to fill the water glasses that were already on the table. I started getting frustrated as numerous employees continued walking past us or standing by the kitchen, which was directly across from us. I understand we didn't have a reservation, but there were still plenty empty tables, and someone could have at least acknowledged us or let us a know a serve would be by shortly. Honeslty, I would have much rather been turned away at the door than sit there completely unattended. When we decided to leave, the hostess claimed she was "just about to send someone over". At that point, I was already over it so we proceeded to leave. I really wish I had better words to share about this spot because it seems like it has great potential, cute atmosphere, and a really nice looking menu. But if a table can go over 15 minutes without anyone even acknowledging it, they probably shouldn't be seating the table in the first place. read more

We came here for a birthday dinner, and picked Thursday because there is a live DJ. The place was a whole vibe, but the music is LOUD. Had to yell to converse. Anyway, the food was hit or miss. The complimentary hushpuppies with cinnamon butter might be the best thing I ate. Seriously, I polished off three before the rest of the food arrived. The fried shrimp were well seasoned and not overcooked. The salmon bites were ok. They were swimming in too much sauce for my liking as it made them kinda mushy. The sauce was tasty though (think: spicy Asian). However, maybe offer that sauce for dipping alongside the other sauce it came with? My friends didn't like their wings too much. Although they looked delicious, they said they lacked flavor. How is that even possible in a Creole joint, especially when the shrimp were plenty flavorful?? Customer Service is amazing at the establishment. From the person over the phone making reservations, waiter, bartender, greeter, and owner. The night we went there booked to capacity and was short staffed and clearly were struggling a bit. The staff maintained a great attitude and handled it with grace. We were seated about 15 or so minutes after checking for our reservation and waited about 5-10 to be greeted/checked in as the greeted was busy doing one thing or another. Establishment has a beautiful ambience and is upscale although most people dressed down or casual. The floor was very slippery so be careful especially wearing heals. Establishment was clean except the floor visibly wasn't swept for sometime under the tables where we ate, I get this is hard especially when it's busy and back to but is typically done when tables are bussed. Bar seating, counter seating, indoor and outdoor seating available. Free 2hr Valet Parking and free flat parking area. Once we were seated we were met with complimentary hush puppies which were tasty. Waiter was nice and made great suggestions. When there was an issue she rectified what she could and got further help when she couldn't (Benz was our waiter). We ordered Zydeco Fries( never came out I inquired about them just before the check came) great portion but high seasoned), 6 fried wings (seasoned well, hot and fresh), Seafood gumbo (Seasoned well), Mardi Gras Pasta(Seasoned well, pasta could've been cooked a couple more minutes, great portion), Catfish Lagniappe (Dirty rice was not seasoned, did not come with the crawfish sauce atop and the catfish was high seasoned), Fish Bowl(Could taste the liquor but no flavor) I'd suggest customer to add Triple sec or another flavored syrup to pull the flavor), strawberry shortcake cheesecake(tasty and a fair price), crème brûlée cheesecake (was not my favorite), sweet tea tasted like peach sweet tea but was good. I'd suggest if you don't like a lot of salt ask for light seasoning possibly. Cocktails range around 14-18 dollars. Any issues we had Kristy the owner rectified it. She was kind and personable. She understood the challenges they were and is eager about improving. This establishment, when appropriately staffed will Be Amazing I will certainly be back. I did not see one waiter that had an attitude or was not attentive and accommodating for their customers. The best food in Charlotte -- and I'm not lying. I first came when Kristy was on Thrift Rd and even ate in the car because it was that good. Everything was excellent. It was Mother's Day and they were fully booked, so my daughter and I came straight from church. We arrived around 10:30 and waited in the car for a bit. The sweet host greeted us when we went inside and seated us at a cozy table for two. The restaurant's decor is lovely, and the whole experience was warm and welcoming. Our waiter --I forgot his name, a handsome, friendly young Black man -- greeted us within minutes and was so sweet. The menu is limited but the brunch selection is EVERYTHING. He brought hush puppies with brown sugar butter that were irresistible. I started with the bayou crab claws with gator sauce -- 10/10. For my entree I had chicken wings with French toast ( six pieces!) and tri-color potatoes (regular, sweet, and purple) -- everything 10/10. The chicken was fried and seasoned to the gods, and the potatoes were hot and crispy. I finished with a hurricane drink (8/10) -- very sweet, I couldn't taste the alcohol but wanted another. My daughter had the shrimp and grits and a biscuit( she love biscuits lol) -- 10/10. The grits were thick the way we like them, and the shrimp were perfectly sized and seasoned. I had an interesting meal here at Kristy's Creole Kitchen. My boyfriend and I came to try this location out for brunch. They lost their liquor license already so no mimosas for us. We waited quite a while for someone to even bring over water. Seemed to be one waitress working the entire restaurant. She seemed to be focused on one table more than others (possibly the owner and his family). They did bring over some hush puppies which were amazing! All the appetizers we had were great, salmon bites, gator bites and crawfish etouffee. Now the entrees left a lot to be desired. Our waitress was not really paying attention when taking our orders and we had to repeat it multiple times. My food ended up being not as i ordered it but not surprised because of the lack of focus. She was the only server so i gave her grace. The lamb chops were not leaving much to be desired, grits were great! My salmon and grits was swimming in a cheese sauce that i had requested on the side. It was still good and completely edible, but when the owner came by and asked how everything was, she noticed it wasn't prepared the way I preferred. Even though I told her it was my mistake, she insisted on having it remade. The second salmon came out perfectly! Charlotte has a reason to celebrate. We finally have an authentic Louisiana Creole Cajun restaurant to be excited about. Mrs. Kristy brings the bayou to Charlotte. When you first walk in the ambience and the aesthetics make you feel like you're in a restaurant in the French Quarter,absolutely beautiful. Seeing that we have never been here, we asked our server Benz to give us some suggestions on the menu. I started with a swap water and we had some of their delicious hush puppies,they were so buttery and crisp. Then we ordered the zydeco fries,truly a meal itself. Next we had the salmon bites, we got them fried and with the bourbon chilli sauce. Omg! So delicious. I ended up ordering the Catfish Lagniappe, & the Catfish Atchafalaya both came out piping hot & well seasoned!
