I'm going to start by saying I haven't been to the dentist in years with heavy anxiety from bad experiences in the past. I told the lady on the phone all this before stepping foot in the office the first time. I came in for my first consultation(no insurance) and was greeted with friendly smiles and a very welcoming atmosphere. There were a few red flags right off the bat but figured "ehh give them a chance." These red flags were heavy heavy amounts of dust under all their desk/tables and equipment in their exams rooms(have pictures), their x-ray/computer weren't working so they kept having to change rooms. Went through with the consultation and felt real comfortable with the dentist and technician. Told them I was going to get dental insurance and come back, they informed they would have to take some more X-rays for insurance so I made this appointment for a month later. Here's where things change. I came back for my second consultation and walked into an empty lobby with 2 lady's at the front desk. A stood there for a few minutes and never received a hello, good morning or anything as they joked about a coworker showing up late. After a few minutes one eventually asked "you checking in?" After about 30-40 minutes of waiting(only one in lobby the whole time) I got up and asked if the were running behind. She then led me to the same exam room as before and the first thing I did was look for the dust again. Sure enough it was never cleaned and looked exactly the same from a month ago . Cynthia then came in an asked if someone was told me the breakdown of my services? I hadn't been x-rayed, spoken to or anything and the first thing they ask is the price and if I need a payment plan. Then asked if I was ready to have the work done right then! I couldn't believe it! I went into full anxiety mode as I quickly remembered why I hadn't been to a dentist in years. She then had more technical issues with the computer and had to take me to the front to finish the discussion. Eveything the dentist & technician discussed and explained to me on the first visit had completely changed and I honestly feel when I went from a cash patient to insurance their attitude changed towards me. I felt like they cared at first to being treated like patient #xxxx with no care or empathy at all In just 2 visits. Called and expressed my experience with Cynthia on the phone after the visit and she said either her or the manager would call back that day. Of course that never happened either I never got work done and I still like the interaction the dentist and I have and that's the reason for 2 stars and not 1. It's a shame the front office ruined a hopeful opportunity for me to fix my mouth. I strongly suggest any patient coming here to not ignore the red flags. The dust, dirty walls and constant technical issues instill a solid lack of trust and comfortability, atleast for me. read more

I had a slight dental emergency and the office was very flexible in getting me an appointment within 24hrs. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and the dentist was incredibly efficient. The office made sure I understood what would and wouldn't be covered by my insurance and had alternative options for me. Creative Smiles is great dental hygienist office the staff are very welcoming and caring, especially when asking questions from Tiara, Itza, Briana, Amber, Liz and Aixa Zena hygienist, anytime I come in for appointments. I appreciate their hospitality and support as soon as I get there, especially from Sarah calling a checking up on me and doing a follow up on how I'm doing. I've been a patient of Dr. Shah for over 15 years. His office manager Tara is awesome, she has so much knowledge. Their back office staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and provide great care. From the front office staff to the X-Ray tech and all in between, I have nothing but good to say about my experience. I have had lots of traumatic dental experiences and it was not easy stepping back into an office. When I say trauma I don't just mean fear but literally fighting panic attacks in the chair. I expressed my feelings as soon as I got there and immediately was reassured by everyone there I was in good hands and I would be ok, they were so patient and kind. On the 2nd visit I had to have wisdom tooth extracted and they made it as comfortable and easy as possible, they went above and beyond to accommodate me in every way. I 1000% recommend this office. This office has changed the 'typical dental visit' for me! It's usually very vague and lacks through evaluation, here it's quite the opposite. I feel like staff take their time to answer your questions and overall see your health long term as it should be. Coming back from the pandemic left me with much to fix up but a great recovery and treatment plan is given to me. They're able to collaborate with my dental insurance to make sure I don't end up paying out of pocket if I get the short end of the insurance stick. read more

I am writing this review moments after my first experience here. I was nervous since this was my first time leaving my family dentist and had an emergency. The 5 star experience started with the initial phone call explaining what was going on. They were able to get me in the next morning as their first appointment. I just took my kids for their 6 month check up and like always this office never seems to fail me. My experience is great from the front desk "Vanessa" to the back office staff. Tara is AMAZING ! She's always on top everything. They always make you feel comfortable and make my visit go very smooth and easy. The office is always clean and I love that my wait time in the front is less than 5 minutes. Dr. Mintzer is very gentle and constantly checks to see if you're Ok. I have been here twice already, and they do a phenomenal job. They are very fast to check you in and prepare you for the doctor if needed. The staff is very cordial and kind. They were very receptive when I asked them questions regarding flossing and other at-home cleaning treatments (such as water pick, floss, Listerine, etcetera). My first visit will be my last. After my insurance changed, I had to find a new dentist on the plan. I chose this office based on good reviews. Here is my negative experience: I normally get my teeth cleaned every six months, but this time I was three months late. I was surprised to hear from Creative Smiles that I apparently needed $2,600 worth of fillings. I asked this new dentist if my previous dentist was negligent, because this was the first I had heard of so much decay. The dentist said that sometimes these things happen fast. This didn't sound quite right, so I got a second opinion. I asked for my x-rays from Creative Smiles, and I took them to a previous dentist, Dr. Lee, to review. She looked at them and the proposed treatment plan from Creative Smiles. Dr. Lee said that although she could see some of the shading between teeth that could indicate decay, she did not recommend intervening, and that flossing regularly could arrest the spots to keep them from needing to be filled. Dr. Lee also said that the surface cavities the Creative Smiles dentist found were actually just staining. She agreed with Creative Smiles that I may want to fill two spots at my gum line where I have brushed the enamel off and created sensitivity. I am doing this work with Dr. Lee and paying cash because I do not trust Creative Smiles. I need to be able to trust my health care professionals, so I won't be returning to Creative Smiles. read more

If you hate anything dentist-related (e.g., dealing with the receptionist, scheduling complications, and inattentive hygienists and dentists) as much as I do, GO TO CREATIVE SMILES. I've been to 8 dentists in the last 6 years, and all but one experience was positive. Finally, after a subpar year of seeing another highly reviewed dentist in Fullerton, my husband (who used to hate going to the dentist) referred me to Creative Smiles. I was helped by the best dental team - Vanessa, Jeanie, Xenia, and Dr. Chung :) There was a great vibe at the office - Vanessa and Jeanie were delightfully hospitable and challenged my expectations of an otherwise nerve-wracking experience; and Xenia not only cleaned my teeth but helped me relearn how to floss (which sounds silly, but it was enlightening). Dr. Chung was also the first dentist to be honest about any unnecessary procedures, solutions and costs, and he and the team are genuinely invested in the longevity of their patients' oral health (and not squeezing us for our insurance benefits). Everyone did such amazing work, from taking my x-rays (painless with Jeanie!), cleaning my teeth, to diagnosing what was going on.
