From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly friendly, warm, and welcoming, which really helps put you at ease. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable the whole time. I've been seeing Dr. Mungcal since about 2016 when I used to go to Downtown Dental. Once I moved to the Westside, I switched his Manhattan Beach offices...particularly Beachside Smiles. Overall, I'd say I keep coming back because of his team. His office staff always remembers you, they greet you with a smile, and treat you like family. I do appreciate when they do their best to work with you on payment arrangements and options. I don't usually feel pressured into getting anything done that isn't necessary. And, if there's an issue (like my jaw locking) they work to get you in right away and help you. I really do appreciate that! This office is clean, has ample free parking, and they're always playing music that gives you a good vibe! read more

Everything was wonderful! First of all, I found Beachside Smile on IG as an ad for a FREE consultation for the LANAP procedure. I was really concerned about my receding gum line, so I decided to schedule a consultation. I came in for the consultation. The staff was inviting, very personable and accommodating. I had all the x-rays and panoramic x-rays done at NO COST. In the exam the dentist let me know that my case was actually not severe at all. That I could do a different type of laser treatment that could help heal the gums by destroying the bacteria below the line. That laser would help bring blood flow to the area, causing the pockets to close up as long as I did my job too at home. I decided to do the treatment to prevent any additional receding plus it was way more affordable than the LANAP procedure. I came back to the office and received the same welcoming reception and I was asked about my feelings towards today's procedure. Since I didn't know what to expect from the procedure, I was able to express that I was nervous and they were able to accommodate that during the procedure by addressing anything that I might need in order to just calm down. They set my mind at ease and we move forward with doing the procedure. I kid you not, it was so easy and I don't know what I was so fearful of now having it done. I'm so grateful that I got this done. We'll see on my next visit how everything worked. I am looking forward to my results. read more

I had a great first experience at Beachside Smiles. The front desk ladies are very sweet. My X-rays were completed quickly. Dr Rizk reminded me that the prettiest teeth are healthy teeth. I came here a couple years ago, mostly for a second opinion, as they are quite far for me. Now, with the new dentist that took over the business, they call and text ENDLESSLY "reminding" me that I haven't been in for awhile. And they use different phone numbers. I've blocked them all. Dr. Ana has turned her practice over to another dentist. Unfortunately the practice has gone downhill. I recently had a procedure performed at Beachside Smiles by the dentist who took over Dr. Ana's practice and let me warn you - he has turned the business into a three-ring circus. First of all, the dentist is a charlatan only concerned about making money. The first thing he does when he examines you is to force your lower jaw down to an unnatural position in an effort to convince you that your teeth are misaligned. After that stunt, he tries to sell you Invisalign braces for $5K. He did it to me and the woman in the next practice room. When I told him that I already had braces, I never saw him again. Another dentist, Dr. Tara, and a dental assistant completed the procedure. Unfortunately their inexperience forced me to go to another dentist to have their mistake corrected! Sadly, I had to pay over $2,000 out of my own pocket because the last procedure performed by Beachside Smiles exhausted my annual dental insurance limit. In summary, the front desk has no idea what they are doing as far as scheduling and billing are concerned, the actual dental work is done by inexperienced individuals and the dentist focuses purely on sales. I came in to this dentist office for the first time today, and at first it was giving off some off vibes, but it could have just been me being nervous. I was helped pretty promptly which was nice, every other place I've been too takes forever. The hygienist was super sweet, she went over everything she was doing, and was so gentle with everything she would do, from the X-rays to the scan, to the probing. The dentist came over afterwards, and was super nice and super informative! I loved that, I appreciated being told I'm depth was needed to done, and what was going on with my teeth. I've been to several dentist offices where it's always the run around. Definitely liked that. After my visit they went over my finances which probably the best part. I know right, money and it becomes the end of the world. She explained everything to me in depth and was so real about the options and what everything would look like. She shared her story of how she got her cat Oreo! I'm a sucker for animal stories! I definitely see why my roommate recommended this place. They do adult orthodontics by the way, if anyone was looking for that! Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a dentist. read more

This practice used to be owned by a different dentist who was kind, took a conservative approach to fillings and root canals, and always responded to calls/emails fast. The new staff try to pressure you into spending more money than you have, do not respond via email/ do not send your information in a timely manner, and have a very aggressive approach to maintaining dental health. Lesley at the front desk is intimidating and pressures patients to complete dental procedures that cost a fortune and may not be necessary at the time of the appointment. Dr. Don Mungcal is accepting of the patients requests and offers his professional opinion where it is appropriate. He is understanding of the patient preference, even if it is not what he would recommend personally. However, after three fillings, I continued to experience pain (sharp/shooting and aching pain) on my lower jaw for multiple days that was not fixed by advil or Tylenol. Also, I was unable to floss in between two of the fillings for 4 days until the connecting piece of the fillings broke off. read more
