Alberto and his team are the best, I should know as I do very detailed home painting (interior) for high-end homes and condos in La Jolla. I do this as a hobby and not a profession.. So when it came time do do my own home (it was just fully renovated), I did not have the time to paint the entire interior (as my full-time job takes me to the Middle East about 50% of the time). So I had to find someone who would do as well or better than I would - did not think this was possible. I phone-interviewed about half a dozen painting companies and narrowed the search down to 3 whom I in-person interviewed. No one even came close to Alberto and the AMK team. Their pricing is very competitive and the end results will look great. The communication is subpar. We had an exterior paint job . Alberto and Omar are both very nice and polite. Alberto needs someone to help manage the business end of things like responding to his customers and managing his schedule . 2 weeks estimated to start turned into well over a month . We were not in a rush, but the change happens with no communication at all- no call or text. I tried to reach out and 18 days later got a response and then several no shows in the middle of the job as well with no explanation ahead of time. We did have to move our own yard furniture back and a few plants that were covered too long on hot days died as well as a portion of grass that they put the furniture on. . Steve contacted me through yelp right away while I was searching companies in the middle of the night. He asked to call and the next morning, he spoke to my husband to schedule a consultation. Alberto came right away that afternoon to give us a quote. My husband and I were on a frantic rampage to find someone to be able to take down our pergola asap due to us on a huge time restraint as to have it down before a big deadline we were trying to meet. Two days later, they came to start on our pergola removal. They both are such great guys and they work so fast and efficient. My husband was really happy how much work was done on just the first day alone. Alberto changed out our screen/vent to a new one that is in our attic space, so that no insects get inside the house/attic. After he changed it out, they put new surrounding stucco to make sure it is completely sealed off. They hauled off everything that came from it and the stuff attached the pergola as well. These two are just amazing in all their work from the other pictures and reviews on here about them on previous jobs they have already completed. Alberto reached out to me based on a project request I had put on Thumbtack. Alberto was one of two paint contractors that came out to give me an estimate and was the only paint contractor that would also do the required wood replacement. His quote was very reasonable and their schedule availability met my requirements perfectly. Steve arrived on time and immediately started on the prep work and wood replacement. The job took a bit longer than anticipated as we came across additional wood trim that required replacement that wasn't identified during the visual estimate. I was an avid fan of Alberto when he started his business many years ago. In fact, I was one of the first (if not the first) who gave him a sterling review. I hired him a couple more times after the first one and each time, he performed beautifully. But all of that changed now. Recently, I have asked him to do another job for me. It started slow but went pretty bad because he seems to forget to call back or answer messages. To make a long story short, Alberto fail the business-like manner test. I would hope Alberto would make some changes in his business plan and actions before it's too late. Again, he is one heck of a hard working man. Last summer we purchased a house near the coast that had been badly neglected. Alberto and his crew painted the house, inside and out and were prompt, courteous, helpful.
