Had not been to Amore in quite awhile Stopped by on our way home during snow. We were able to get in even though quite a few people were there. Ordered the calamari to start. It was nice and tender and had a great crunchy crust. I had the spaghetti with Italian sausage, others had the special of halibut with amaretto cream and the pesto basil with chicken. Everything was delicious. Our server, Carson, was excellent and very friendly. He kept checking with us for anything, kept our waters full and brought whatever we needed quickly. read more

One of those places where the quality matches the quantity. What I mean is, if you haven't given this place a try...be prepared. Portions are plenty and everything is so delicious that you don't want to stop eating. Wonderful, traditional, and plentiful Italian dishes with depth and that unmistakeable Italian taste that screams "home-made". The menu is limited, but the dishes are served the way they should be, fresh from the oven or stove top. The tab for dinner is what you would pay for a downtown NYC experience with waiters in white shirts and fresh linens on the table, and that is NOT what Amore offers. The service was good, but not 5star good. The lighting is too dim, and the table and chairs are not fine dining quality. When we asked for fresh black pepper for our salads, the waitress brought us a pepper shaker, not a pepper mill. So a few changes could take this restaurant to 5star status. read more

Service great. Helen was so accommodating and attentive. Lighting? I get they are trying to create an atmosphere but when you have to get out your phone flashlight to read a menu, it's gone too far. Food was well, fine. For someone who has lived in Italy and cooks a lot, this was nothing special. I had the eggplant. It was lightly fried, and a bit bland. Portions were plentiful. They offered a complimentary cannoli for my mom's bday celebration which was really nice. Everyone I dined with seemed pleased with their food. I guess my bar is pretty high. read more

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. This is the second time I've eaten here and it was probably the best plate of food I've ever had in my life. I had the Chilean sea bass on top a creamy polenta cake sitting in a lemon, lavender cream sauce with grilled asparagus. The service is also outstanding. Where to start... extremely poor service. There were other open tables and they sat us across from the door on a January night. When we asked to change tables they made it seem like we were requesting something unrealistic. Then there was the food: Charging $30 for a Caesar salad with chicken is ridiculous. Service is RUDE!! The food here is "Awesome"!!! The server was wonderful! But it was all great to the end!!! Then RUDE!!! We had just dropped a lot of money for 2 people on a meal, we even had desert! Well, we just barely got our cake at and was still trying to finish our coffee, when we was ask to leave!! We wasn't being disruptive or loud! We was ask to leave because they had a reservation for our table and we had took to long with having drinks, appetizers, meal and desert!! Hands down best Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The Pasta Bowl in Chicago has been downgraded from their perch. Can I give ZERO stars? If this restaurant isn't more careful their going to put someone in the hospital. I suffer from Alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), which is a serious red meat/pork allergy from a tick bite many years ago. We called in an order for pickup following a day of hiking and I ordered the Sea Food Diablo w/a spicy lemon tomato sauce. We asked four different times if this meal had any red meat or pork. The restaurant stated no its not in the recipe. Picked up the order and got home starving only to found that the lemon tomato sauce contained ground bacon. We called and we're told that sometimes the chef mixes in bacon for flavoring. WHAT. I alerted you to the fact that I can't have pork and you don't have any systems in place to keep customers safe. Had I eaten this meal I would have been in the ER after five hours in extreme pain, the reaction makes it difficult to breath and can feel like a heart attack. The restaurant refunded the cost of that meal and offered to make me another Sea Food Diablo (w/out bacon) but I can't trust this business to EVER be a safe place to eat and will NEVER again spend money here. For those with serious food allergies you've been warned. read more

Such good flavors and a good sized portion. Also a very relaxed, chill and upscale vibe inside. A little Italian restaurant in a strip mall in the knobs. My group of 4 came to celebrate a wedding. The venue was small and tables felt very close together which was not ideal for a handicap member of the group. We started with the meatball and Italian sausage for our appetizer followed by entrees. We had the halibut, the venison, the baked ziti, and the chicken Florentine. I best describe the food as inconsistent. Some dishes, the venison, were close to perfection, while others, the halibut, were over seasoned, and the ziti/Florentine were under seasoned. Upon request, we were able to get red pepper flakes and salt to assist with seasoning. We ordered an assortment of beverages during the meal. None of them were over or under whelming. Unfortunately, Amore is another overpriced Italian restaurant that is adequate. You won't be disappointed, but I doubt you'll sing their praises. Due to the pricing, the location provides minimal value. read more

The food is good and more than generous portions. All staff are extremely friendly and courteous. My complaint is reservation scheduling. Reservations are made for a reason. We had reservations and got there on time. We waited 45 minutes for a table. If this restaurant does not know how to properly manage reservations, they should not accept them. read more

First off I will say that the food we ended up with was great. We were visiting family at a physical rehab center and were going to bring the dinner. We went on their website to check out their menu to make our choices so we could order for pick up, The problem is on their website under menus they have 4 different menus listed and one so old the coupon expired in 2017. We didn't know what they had available. We choose several items that were common on their menus figuring they surely would have it but the price may vary. We called ahead to check and were told they wouldn't know the specials till they opened at five. Turns out they didn't have the calamari, garlic bread and fried ravioli we wanted nor did they have the Fettuccine Alfredo that were listed on several of their menus. While the food we ended up getting was delicious we would have gone somewhere else if we had known they didn't have the dishes we asked for. I get Calamari rarely but it's my go to at an Italian restaurant. Please at least update your menu and tell us to call to find out what is available that day if you are going to have a limited menu. We specifically asked if they had take out options and was told they did. Only to find out their take out didn't include any plates, napkins or cutlery. Kind of disappointed. read more

Went in to get a table for 2, we were told that we would have the next table available. 10 mins later a group of three walked in and they ask how long the wait is, they were told 40mins. They talked it over and decided they didnt want to wait and that they were going to go to Drakes instead. Well since they knew one of the hosts, the host said they would seat them next since they are "VIPs"... they dont seat us for another 10 mins and after 2 more tables got sat before us! Confronted the host about this and she says they had a reservation, and when I told her I overheard them asking for the wait since they did not have reservations, she rolled her eyes and said, "youll be seated next". Dont expect to get a table here if you dont know someone. Poor way to run a business. read more

We have been several times and I love the food. Our latest visit was a bit of a wreck- the chef wasn't there and it took 2 and a half hours (the whole time seated at a table) to have dinner. Only the last half hour was dinner! It was all pretty good, but the kitchen was beyond overwhelmed and our waitress was not attentive. Glasses set empty for hours. Honestly, we considered walking out multiple times but didn't because it was Saturday evening and that would mean a wait somewhere else. This place is touted by many as having amazing food. I partially agree. I have visited twice in the past month. During my visits the very small restaurant has been packed with customers. There is nothing special about the ambiance and in fact, it is disappointing for the price of food. It was a former Mexican restaurant and the layout remains virtually the same with booths on one side and tables in the middle and on the other side. All are within close proximity of each other to the point that I could reach out and touch the chair beside me and movement to the exit was hampered by those sitting in the middle. There is a bar area in the back, which is nothing special and appears to be used more for those waiting for a table than an actual bar. As you walk in there is a small hostess stand. There is no waiting area and tables are in close proximity to both the stand and entry. Seats towards front or in the large addition receive a blast of cold air every time the door is opened making for a chilly dining experience during winter months. Again, this is very reminiscent of the former Mexican establishment design. Reservations are accepted and I would recommend them. The complimentary bread served with garlic butter is excellent. The chopped salad was very good but heavy with red onions and dressing. I liked it, but some did not. The portion was extremely large. I've tried several entrees and this is where it becomes hit or miss. Nothing is bad, but there is an inconsistency on portion size and quality. Some dishes are huge, others just average and some are small. Some taste amazing, others are overly salted and have been consistently cold with every visit. Specifically, the beef medallions have delicious flavor but had too much salt and that comes from someone who likes salt. The shrimp and linguine in pasta sauce came in an enormously sized bowl and was amazing. The garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus entree side has been barely warm on both recent visits and with several different people's dishes. The crab cakes are amazing in flavor, but are very petite. The server explained they were once an appetizer that people kept purchasing so it was moved to a dinner special selection. It seems it maintained the appetizer size. The chicken piccata was very good but the sauce was very runny and plentiful which took away from the pasta itself. The portion was large. The desserts are not made in-house. They too are varied in quality and size. The carrot cake is HUGE and was very good. The banana chocolate cake was very small and had no taste of banana whatsoever. The spice cake was just "ok". Any local bakery with elevated selections and size would be recommended. Service has been both impeccable and poor. Friendly and prompt servers are helpful and kind, BUT when they get busy service falls flat. Waits for refills, desserts and the bill were lengthy to the point we asked another sever to check on our desserts. The price of food is high but justified for certain dishes based on the portion size and/or taste of the food. Overall, this is a great dining option for those in the Floyd's Knobs area. The food is above average and in most cases excellent. The dining room takes away from the overall experience. Small interior design elements would push this to upscale -'table cloths, art work, lighting, etc. Consistency in portion size would create a more awe inspiring experience for every guest. The calamari is not your typical rings of chewiness. They're strips with almost a steak like texture. Served with a spicy marinara and a horseradish sauce. The chicken Florentine is HUGE and will easily leave you with leftovers. The lobster Mac & cheese is the best I've ever had. Lasagna, seafood Diablo, the daily specials, I could on and on. Everything here is fantastic. Four stars for a couple reasons. I've only been here during covid so I'm not sure if that has impacted service, but it is SO SLOW. They're friendly, but it takes forever to get menus, get drinks, place your order... And definitely don't come here if you are sensitive to covid processes. It's not a very big place and they don't limit capacity at all, and every time I've been there, the servers are constantly removing or pulling masks down to talk. read more

This was an awful experience for us. We had an extremely long wait and then were sat in the back room and basically ignored the whole meal. We weren't served timely or given refills on our drinks. This was our second visit and the first was a split decision for us (his food was great while mine was average) but this visit sealed the deal, with service alone. read more

I have been here several times and each time the food has been outstanding! And we don't mind the price of the food because the portions are so large we always have enough leftovers for another 2-3 meals. The only reason I didn't give this business 5/5 stars is due to the inconsistency of the wait staff, lengthy wait for drinks sometimes, and getting seated REALLY late despite having a reservation. On a side note, though, when we're waiting to get seated we notice that there are usually multiple tables that already have their food boxed in to-go containers and have empty drinks but continue to sit at the table for a half hour or more taking. I could be wrong but I do feel like it's good etiquette not to hold up a table too long on a crowded evening if you've finished and paid. read more

The restaurant was recommended to me by a professional chef so my husband and I were looking forward to going here on a date night. Our 1st impression of Amore tho was downright disappointing and thoroughly disgusting! Despite customers ahead, and behind, us not having reservations either, the cheerless host mumbled "It's fine." before seating us at the worst table in the house. It was the 1st booth at the entrance which was very dark and had ripped seat cushions. We would have ordered cocktails, but our waiter didn't give us a chance to look at the menu. Undaunted, we enjoyed the fresh loaf of bread which we had trouble cutting because they gave us a steak knife (vs. bread knife). When our appetizer of mussels arrived it was immediately apparent by the strong odor of urine that they weren't fresh! I refused to eat them, but my husband didn't want to complain and ate most of them. As far as entrees, every item on my plate could have been delicious had they not been so heavily oversalted. The chef skimped on my husband's pasta portion and the sauce was copiously watered down. It was our original intention to order dessert, but after all of this - no way! Our server (he never told us his name) was young, goofy and tried his best so we couldn't fault him. For a "fine dining" restaurant, Amore clearly lacked elegance including decor, dishware, cutlery, table linens, food, service and formality. We'll never go back for a 2nd experience! read more

I have written a few reviews on this place, from never wanting to go back to loving the food. Clearly the issue here is inconsistency and getting good help. Add to that, the venue is small and often overcrowded. The food used to be reasonably priced but after a recent price hike, it is no longer a value. The food is good, but the service remains very inconsistent. Young servers from the Z generation have no idea how to be a server, have no thought for true service, and probably aren't taught what to do. Recently, the prices have skyrocketed and we just don't go as much due to that. Drinks are starting to rise, and the cocktails themselves are less and less about quality and more and more about $$$$. Glasses aren't clean, the wait for the cocktails seems long, and back to the sever issue you're lucky your get another cocktail as the server doesn't check in with you often. Compounded issues have left us going less and less, the prices need to come back down, the service REALLY needs an overhaul, and the needs to be a better bartender (or another one). Also the venue is small and they should reduce the number of people seated here, it would be much more comfortable. read more

So much so he brags about the quality at every seafood restaurant we go to in Florida. He refuses to order them from anywhere but Amore. We've never had a bad experience. Amore! 5 stars for food! 5 stars for service! Homemade pasta, what's not to love. The spaghetti noodles were cooked perfectly and had a hollow center, a first for me. The noodles were covered in a fresh marina with a hint of creaminess topped with fresh shards of parmesan cheese and two equally delicious meatballs. Huge portion with plenty taken home. Waitress kind enough to pack it up for me for a later redo. Lasagna was in the similar sauce and so so so so good. Breadsticks were hot and complimentary served with garlic butter. Sweet tea was as good as any down south and glass quickly refreshed each time it went close to being empty. Best Italian in the area. DELICIOUS!!!!! read more
