Had a very interesting experience. I thought the food was good but the dinner as a whole left a lot to be desired. Firstly, we went on Valentine's Day. I was excited to choose from the options I saw online here, until I found out they had a limited menu. And when I say limited, there were literally four options for entrees. I get doing a limited menu but surely there can be more options. If you didn't want pizza or chicken dishes, then you were out of luck The service was below par. If they are going to charge a decent amount for food (bill was 67 for two people, with one beer) then I feel like the service should meet that. One of the servers that was not ours was loud and annoying during service. Our server mentioned to us that he was sorry for the service because they were busy, when half the tables in the place were open. I'd hate to see what a full place would have been like! I hate sounding negative on a local place but if you are going to charger higher end prices then the experience should also be a bit better. I feel like Martini's in Louisville (a similar cuisine I've visited recently) had cheaper prices than this place, and was a much better experience. Wife and I brought our grandchildren Jace and Cali for lunch after church. It is the first visit for all of us. We started with the garlic knots with marinara sauce. We also ordered calamari with marinara sauce. The garlic knots were very good. The calamari not so much. I wouldn't order them again. I was the only one eating them and left some on the plate. Calamari tasted like they were frozen from a Swanson brand dinner. The marinara sauce was very good though. The Calamari needs to be divorced from the Marinara sauce. Jace and Cali ordered spaghetti and meatballs which they really liked. Wife and I ordered a lasagna which was large enough to share. The food is served with fresh basil as garnish. I trust wife and I will return. The kids took leftovers home. We appreciate the military discount too. In closing, everything was Super, with exception of Calamari. Do not order it. It set us back $15 and wasn't really edible. I do look forward to visiting again to try some other offerings and hopefully find a 5 star experience. read more

How lucky we are to have a true Italian restaurant with amazing food you can only get in Italy. We come here weekly. There's nothing that is not delicious. Have been here a few times and it was good. This was a terrible experience. Made Valentine's Day reservations with fiancé and 4 kids. Only to find out they had a limited menu at $40 per person that included 1 of 3 appetizers, only a couple main dishes and 1-3 desserts. No drinks were included. Waited 10-15 min for water. The appetizers were very small and not good. I ordered ravioli in vodka sauce, which only had 5 small ravioli with no protein. 2 kids shared a pizza that was just average at best. We asked for my son's chicken and pasta without sauce which it had sauce. 3 of us were completely finished before the pizza and my sons replace came out. The replacement was way overcooked. The dessert was average and the cake was dry. There were not enough staff to take care customers but they tried. I should have listened to my gut and left when I saw the menu. The food was absolutely not worth the cost. No to mention the own got mad when I sent my sons food back. It stinks paying almost $300 and most of us are still hungry. We will not be back. read more

Let me start by saying the food is decent and the service okay, however, the portions were ridiculously small. I ordered the chicken pictatta and it was a thin piece of chicken and about 4 forks of pasta. I shared with my 9 year old daughter which incurred a $10 charge, my initial plate looked like a "split" plate. We could have ordered her a whole plate for the charge, which I would understand if the portions made sense. If you were planning on fulfilling meal, go somewhere else. I wish I had pictures of each of our meals- not one was a full plate. So disappointed with our local spot tonight. Not worth the money. Greatest New York Style pizza in Kentuckiana area. I'm from Columbus, Ohio and have lived in the Louisville area since 2016. I have been looking for a good pizzeria for years and pretty much gave up until I found Mimo's. The pizza dough is crisp, the cheese is cooked just right, very little flop, and it isn't very greasy. All about the food....delicious! My husband and I (family and friends) have visited this place over the last couple months many times. The alla vodka, pesto, seafood pasta, and pizza are all excellent! I had gotten the chicken parm 2-3 times and it was delicious, but on one occasion with the whole family, it didn't taste quite right (not sure what happened, may have frazzled the owner a little with our big group.) The complimentary garlic knots and marinara are delicious! The sauce is rich and tasty. The pizza is NY style, crispy, fold-in-half, fantastic. He has roll-ups that are good too with what ever topping you want, rolled up in a little pizza dough...have had the pepperoni and sausage. Great for lunch or an appetizer. We tried the Sicilian pizza once, it was fine, but not like my grandmother's. Now the place and the service...not great. The service is always hit or miss. The young girl, maybe Mimi's granddaughter, seems very sweet, but just not a good waitress. In the summer, the place is a little warmer than I'd like, but I think the pizza oven over powers his wall/ceiling A/C units. Today,thanks to our friends at Mariposa, we discovered a little jewel of an Italian restaurant, hidden in a strip mall on State Street towards the Knobs. The white tablecloths and intoxicating smell told us we were in for a treat. My friend and I both had pizzas for lunch that were right off the streets of Rome.... Thin, crispy, with homemade sauce and a very good selection of toppings including artichokes, eggplant and anchovies as well as the typical sausage,pepperoni,mushrooms etc. I hope people find Mimo's and patronize...it would be a loss. read more

I've been searching for my favorite pizza joint for 5 years now since I moved from Indy. I've finally found it! Perfectly cooked in a brick oven. The crust was a little burnt, which is my favorite. I went to this restaurant years ago and got the pasta. I don't really remember if I liked it or not. I have been seeing people saying they have a good NY style pizza so I had to give it a try. Now I have found my favorite pizza on this side of the river if not in the metro area. This is probably the closest I've had to the pies I have had in NYC and I will now be a regular. First time visiting Mimos. There was ample parking. The interior was ok, a bit dark and could do with a freshen up but not a deal breaker at all. Split into two areas, the tables had nice white table cloths and the aroma of fresh pizza starts your mouth watering before you even sit down! Five stars for the food. It was delicious, hot and came out in a timely manner. zero stars for the service. Our server was inattentive and spent more time talking with friends at another table. We went and got our own bill, paid and left before she even notice. We had intended to have dessert and coffee but we were so fed up waiting for her that we gave up and left. I did notice it wasn't just our table waiting for attention. Drinks were not refilled and people had to go looking if they needed something. The place was not slammed and the server could see clearly to the area we were in. If we fancy pizza from here in future I think we will just order for take out. read more

I called in an order for a veggie pizza and asked her to add sausage to it. when my husband got there to pick it up they had one veggie pizza and one sausage pizza he told them that we had ordered just one pizza my husband called me to verify and I told him that yes the woman hadn't repeated back my order but that I had ordered one vegetarian and then to add sausage to it. The manager said he'll fix it took the pizza in the back. I think he scraped off some of the sausage and ran it through the oven again and gave it to my husband when we got home we had a burnt crust with a Mess of toppings stuff on top. absolutely the worst pizza I've ever had read more

Equally enjoyable, properly cooked multi color tortellini paired with that marinara sauce. Sweet tea, nice wine and helpful server made for a nice dinner. Quaint spot located in a small older shopping area, worthy of repeat visits for good Italian eats. We purchased the La Bianco. I cannot believe how utterly flavorless - with the exception of a tin can "ish" flavor. I was extremely dissatisfied. Total bill with delivery and tip was $42. When we travel, we try to eat locally, but any of the chain pizza places would have tasted so much better and half the cost. The $42 included an app that I thought was arancini - but it was literally rice/ marinara with melted cheese. I have been a long time supporter of Mimo's and even ordered them for my daughter's birthday. We've become a custom to the somewhat awkward service experience. Today I went in to pickup the togo order and it wasn't ready. On a whim I asked for some cannoli boxed up with the order. The owner joking asked if I wanted 30... I said no only 5. The owner boxed them up and my pizza came out he rang up my order and said it was $35 which I paid a tipped at 20%. Then he said no you have to pay for the pizza too. To which I laughed and said I just did. He said no that was just the cannoli. Um what? These 5 tiny things you just drizzled Hershey syrup on are $35!?! It was not a joke and he did want an additional $40 for the pizzas. The cannoli are okay, not worth $7 each. Maybe $3 at most. Just over the service and attitude I get here. They've got good pizza but I won't be back. read more

This place was all around terrible. We went for a rehearsal dinner and so admittedly, they were trying to serve a large number of people. However, I've had frozen lasagna that had more flavor and the chicken was over processed and almost fake tasting. The worst part was the incredibly awful service. We (four of us) arrived earlier than the rest of the party and ordered drinks. My husband asked what beers were on tap. The server was unsure, but the rest of us ordered our drinks. She came back with two drinks and then asked him again what he wanted. He again asked what was on tap and she told him again that she didn't know. He ended up ordering a bottle. We never received the fourth drink we ordered - he ended up going to bar to get it. At the end of the night, we were given a drink check, which was confusing to us since the father of the groom stood up and announced he was paying the bar tab. We questioned the server when she brought us the bill and she told us we still needed to pay for our drinks. We couldn't help but wonder if they were making double off of us all. To make matters worse, it felt like it was about 100 degrees in there. People were sweating into their food as they were trying to eat. As the dinner party began to disperse, someone came out from the kitchen and turned on an air conditioning unit that was located right above the tables. It instantly cooled to a refreshing temp. I still can't understand why they didn't turn that on sooner, instead making us all miserable. read more

My first visit with Mimo's was last week. I wanted delivery for lunch, but learned that delivery starts at 4pm. Immediately walking in I was able to smell the glorious aroma of Italian food being cooked. It completely consumed the air and made me look forward to my first try even more anxiously. The restaurant is split into two dining areas - both are relatively small, but large enough to accommodate a nice crowd without losing the intimate, warm, and homey-feeling ambiance this place has to offer. There is a very small (2-3 seats) bar in the second dining area. The restaurant is nicely decorated with items you'd typically find in someone's home rather than a restaurant, which adds to its warmth and homey-personable atmosphere I received. I ordered the NY Style pizza - build your own (onions, black olives, shaved sausage, fresh mushrooms), the garlic knots, and a cannoli. The pizza was good - I enjoyed the toppings, as they were very fresh and the onions were a really delicious addition. However, I didn't care for the crust. Maybe it's just that I don't like NY style crust - truthfully, I don't know. I had a NY style once before while in NY many years ago and I don't recall how I felt about the slice at the time - I do remember liking the cheese, though! I found my recent crust experience to be a little tough - like clench your teeth together and PULL away for a bite. I'd like to give their pizza another try because so many people have enjoyed it. I think next time I'd dine in to taste it was it's still pippin hot from the oven. The garlic knots were super, Super, SUPER incredible. The marinara sauce was just the way I LOVE it. Not too thick or a deep red. I would describe it as being delicately tasting with lots of flavor. The garlic knots came with chunks of garlic (yummy) topping. My first experience with a cannoli was heavenly. I can now understand why in those certain movie scenes there's a character who only orders a cannoli and eats it on the go. This light and heavenly dessert can be enjoyed while walking or driving and doesn't require a dessert plate, fork or spoon. The lady who waited on me was so, so, so nice. I suspect she was an owner due to her heavy accent. She was really sweet and exuded the same wamth, personable, homey feeling I received when I walked into the restaurant. I'd really like to try other dishes besides the pizza. So I'm definitely going to make it a point to dine in. read more

Do not go here! Literally just called for carry out. Guy answers the phone and tells me "they are too busy!" Too busy to take my business and earn money. I live a mile away and have been here many times because of convenience. I will never go back here again and will inform all my neighbors. Mimo if you want to make this right then notify me. Walking in the smells are divine! What is needed here is consistency. I have had pizza here 3 different times and it tasted different all three times. All 3 times I did carry out. I love New York style pizza but my other half does not. Mimo's comes through with foldable slices and the edge (what I call pizza bones) is crisp. They only have two sizes...14" and 16". So, I guess I will see how it tastes tomorrow too...lol. The pizza oven is in full view behind the cash counter....ahhh...that is why it smells so good in there! I picked up a menu to see they have the Italian pasta pretty much covered so I will have to plan a dine in trip to check that out. The gal at the counter was friendly and attentive. We've ordered pizza twice for takeout. It was really good both times. The crust was slightly chewy, but in a good way. From what I understand, that is what a good New York Style Pizza is supposed to be like. The smell of the food cooking while waiting on the pizza was amazing. Tried a new place across the river tonight. Really good Italian - when we walked in, it smelled like back home on Long Island. Cute place, with home cooked goodness! Our server was very sweet and attentive. Complimentary garlic knots to start Pizza was semolina dough with perfect char, legit fennel in the sausage and really good meatballs! If you count calories and want to easily spend 1,500+ calories, go to Mimo's!!! But really - their dishes are amazing and delicious, but very rich. Be ready to indulge! With family from the Northeast, we love authentic Italian cooking... Mimo's is the perfect spot for it! Besides my father's kitchen. :) There are several dishes to choose from... Very large menu with quite the variety of Italian dishes. A little pricey. Their side salad runs at $8 for some romaine, tomatoes, olives and feta. In my eyes, not worth it. However, their other dishes are made with quality ingredients, so I do not mind paying the extra dollar. Dishes around $14-$18. When you are seated, you are given a few complimentary rolls with garlic on top and marinara sauce for dipping. Extremely yummy! I typically order the eggplant Parmesan and ask for a bit of ricotta on it! A+ and my favorite dish to order. I've also had their chicken alfredo which is delightful, and their chicken carbonara. (Get ready for the butter!!!) We call in for a pizza probably once every three weeks or so, which I favor more than going in. Big pizza and the closest thing you can get to New York style pizza! We love putting onion on pizzas, and spinach and ricotta. The owners are there more often than not and are the sweetest folks! We love going in and chatting with them. My wife and I greatly enjoyed lunch here this past Sunday, and I am at my computer today to enthusiastically recommend support and patronage for this wonderful locally owned Italian cafe. Mimos is just a stone's throw from me, on scenic Paoli Pike, and provides a warm little nook for a scrumptious meal. I had a Chicken Calzone and my wife had the La Deliziosa Pie. I strongly considered trying one of the many delicious sounding pizzas on the menu which were touted to me by a friend as the "star of the show" but opted to vote down-menu and see what one of the more auxiliary items had to offer. I am pleased to say my Calzone was hot, fresh, and abundantly flavorful. This is Italian comfort food, reminiscent of the kind of Old Country dishes my half-Italian brother used to create for me when he owned and operated an Italian bistro some years ago. My wife's Pie was full of delicious eggplant with a sauce that woke the palate up with zing, zest, and a loving hug. The cheese on my Calzone was appropriately thick and chewy so take that into consideration when you measure out your bites, but this is not a distraction from the overall enjoyment of the dish. I had coffee and my wife just had a Sprite but I suspect the menu has a fine assortment of adult beverages, but Sunday afternoon lunch is more a coffee thing for me. The ambience inside Mimo's is pleasant, with instrumental 70's and 80's era David Foster-esque ballads playing a suitable sonnet to go with the meal. It is, otherwise, a quiet place, but we were there during a low traffic hour I suspect. Our server was sweet and friendly and all together attentive. We declined dessert, as we had food left over to take home, but may try it in the future. And as far as pizzas go, we will definitely be back to see what's going on with those at Mimo's. I wrote a review years ago but Mimo's has more than redeemed itself. Mimo's is the best Italian restaurant in the region and their pizza is first class. I grew up in New Jersey and the NYC Metro area has, at least in my opinion, the best pizza in the nation. When it's good it has a thin, foldable crust with a crunch. Sauce, cheese, and some toppings are great. It's not a region for funky items such as chicken or odd cheeses and pineapple on a pizza would be a sin. The pizzas are usually pretty large and cut into triangular slices. If you happen upon a pizza cut into squares, it's not the real deal. The flavor, when done properly, is sublimely delicious. Mimo's gets it right time and time again. The crust is perfect as are the toppings. One thing they do amazingly well is sausage on the pizza; thinly sliced, not clumps. Their pizza is wow. I mean, wow. It's excellent. If you just get a cheese pizza it's great. Sausage and mushrooms (fresh) are to die for. Before you get pizza they bring out garlic knots with delicious homemade marinara sauce. Brilliant. Pasta? They have the most wonderful baked ziti; even better than I can make and mine is good. Add sausage to it and you will be thrilled. Their chicken parmigiana is delicious and a side of their perfectly cooked al-dente pasta with marinara is great. My only complaints is that at times their service can be spotty. Sometimes it's really good; other times, not so much. And...if you want a side salad, their side salads are overpriced for what you get. But on the important stuff they are stellar; and have a cannoli for desert and you will be very, very happy.
