Back in Naples and visiting one of my favorite restaurants. Although it is off season the service is excellent as always. The food was delicious. We shared pasta pesto as an appetizer and it made two Italians happy. We also had the very tender veal with salad on top. We skipped dessert but they served us biscotti with our coffee. I just got back from Rome, Italy so I thought I was probably making a mistake, going to an Italian restaurant after I had tasted the ultimate Italian food but this place could be in Rome, it's that good. The sauces alone could be eaten with a spoon, heavenly! Every dish looked like a masterpiece and tasted like one as well! Made reservations on New Years Eve Day after a lack of planning for the night's activities. Was in town with family, so there were four of us who went and we had an amazing time. Even though it was incredibly busy, service was great and timely - there were decorations and the waiter took our picture for us multiple times. Aside from the great environment and service, the food was AMAZING. We all agreed it was the best place we had eaten our whole vacation, and it is one of my top Italian Restaurants ever - too bad I'm a plane ride away! Let's see... -Extremely limited NYE menu? Check -A la carte menu jacked up by between $4 - $6 an entre compared to regular menu? Check -Cheesy, seizure inducing NYE décor? Check -Bread that tasted like it was bought at the Publix next door? Check -Chicken with mushrooms and shrimp...about 3 oz of bland chicken, one small overcooked shrimp (hilarious), multi-colored carrots that appeared to and tasted like they had been boiled (I mean, why in the world would you spend money on decent vegetables to boil them?! At least roast them for crying out loud)...Check for all -Pasta dish (name not even worth remembering) clearly using store-bought pasta and bland sauce. Could have made better at home? Check -Bizarre and extremely unappetizing presentation all around? Check $130 for these two incredible entrees (before tip), a shared appetizer (some forgettable tomato heirloom salad if memory serves), and four of the cheaper glasses of wine? Double check. Yeah, hurry up and get to this winner. read more

My favorite restaurant on the east coast, bar none! The staff is always very friendly, accommodating, and efficient. The food is extraordinary. Dinner is always interesting as they change their specials daily, in addition to an already extensive menu selection. The wine list is equally impressive with a large array of imported and domestic wines to choose from, you can never go wrong. Deserts are tasty, as are the after dinner drinks. So many restaurants we have not tried here in naples. As part of our weekly date nite wife chose Amore's. Small place in neapolitan plaza. Ordered appetizer and the mozzarella was authentic, very good! Wife ordered pasta with truffles, (don't remember the name), but it was hearty and exceptional without meat, ( and I love meat). I ordered veal scallopini al funghi with a side of fettucini. Once again the pasta was excellent, and the veal tender in a slightly sweet marsala. The order included veggies. The average price of the entrees was about $20. The pasta was extra. If you don't mind spending a little more, I would highly recommend this place for it's great taste and bang for the buck and ask for Albano. read more

I have lived in Naples for 20 months now, and finally got around to trying this place that is right in my neighborhood. While it is not at all flashy or contemporary looking, it does serve some of the best food I have EVER eaten in Naples. The service is flawless and very old school, as is the menu. This is classic American-inflected Italian food. There are no seafood dishes listed on the menu-- they are all daily specials, which is a very good sign. I had the bressaola with arugula salad starter-- something rarely seen any more, but beautifully done. Had a mushroom risotto as my main, and it was piping hot, rich and flavorful. Husband had a salad and seafood pasta special-- essentially a very seafood-heavy cioppino over capellini. Every bite was delicious. Great wine list. Best espresso I have had in Naples-- hot and perfectly drawn. We'll be back. read more

After having fairly good meals sev'l years ago, my wife and I and another couple ventured to Amore the other night. Three of us ordered a chicken and shrimp dish which was so overcooked that the shrimp and chicken couldn't hve been toughter as well asbbeing tasteless. . When our plates were collected, the waiter questioned that we all were discarding the bulk of our meals. When we shared our misgivings with him, he brought over the manager.The latter immediately querried :"what do you want me to do". " Whatever you'd like" I said and he proceded to bring over a $20 discount slip for our next meal there "over $60". How tacky can you get. These horrendous entres cost at least $100 of the total bill of $212 so Amore not only turns out inedible food but are customer unfriendly as well!!! Needless-to-say, it will be a long time before we return. read more

This was the first time I've been to this restaurant and I wasn't that impressed. Four of us went here for my wife's birthday, my son and daughter-in-law. We had reservations and we were seated promptly, we had to wait 15 minutes for our waiter to get our drink order, then when he came he told us about the specials and disappeared for another 10 minutes before he took our orders. My daughter-in-law and I ordered the sea food special, my wife the pork chop and son the veal. It took us about an hour to get our meal and when we did my son got the wrong dinner it wasn't even veal the seafood meals were cold on the outside of the plate and barely warm in the middle of the plate, I was told that there would be scallops and shrimp and lobster tail, well I got 1 shrimp, 1 scallop and a lobster that was the size of a crawfish, and a whole lot of calamari (which wasn't supposed to be in the meal) I don't like calamari. The sea food wasn't cooked properly all it was a disappointment. The only reason I gave it this many stars is my wife meal was good but she couldn't understand why she only got a piece of meat and no sides. I you like throwing your money away enjoy this place but there a better places in Naples this was Olive Garden quality at an unrealistic price. read more

We were seated outside, it was a beautiful night... I had a beet salad with arugula and fine aged balsamic that was to die for, my husband had escargot which was beautiful.. Nicely cooked and perfectly garlicky (as specially requested) we shared some amazing wedding soup, with fresh organic eggs, delicious... I had the Bronzino... I do not lie when I say it was the best I've had in Naples... Even better than sea-salt, nemo's or anywhere else I've tried... They cooked it in a salt crust, it was especially tender, it was taken off the bone at our table by a really fabulous server that really knew his stuff and was very attentive... The service was great and it still proves to be after many years our favorite restaurant in Naples... There is a reason that the celebrities and locals eat here all year long... My parents are huge fans of this place and took me and my boyfriend here when we were visiting. Absolutely amazing Italian food--I haven't had such delicious Italian food since I went to Rome. The waiter was very professional, confident, and knowledgeable about the menu and food. At one point he saw my father picking up the wine bottle to pour more into our glasses and rushed over to make sure that he poured it (a detail that reminded me of the highly professional waiters in Italy). I had bruschetta for an appetizer and a black truffle pasta for the entree--both dishes couldn't have been better. My boyfriend ordered off-menu (a move my parents have made a few times) with the fettuccine Alfredo (HIGHLY recommend). Overall, very nice and laid-back atmosphere, which was especially nice considering how delicious the food was and the fact that we were getting it at such a discount (over the summer, they hold a 2 for 1 entree discount before 7pm). We stayed all night--having espresso and dessert--and by the end of the night the waiter was offering us glasses of port on the house. read more

We made the reservation based on recommendations from friends. Glad we did! Excellent service! Excellent food! We both had the Branzini baked in caked salt. It was perfectly moist and tasty. No real salt flavor, as it should be. We have had this dish before, but rarely see it on American menus. Reminded us of the first time we had it at a restaurant overlooking the Bospherus. The owner, Stephano, stopped by several times to see how the evening was going and talked about Italy and some recent trips he had taken to locales we were familiar with. All together a friendly atmosphere and definitely good food and a good wine selection. We will definitely go back to Amore. read more
