I never write reviews, but I had such a horrible experience at this salon I don't want anyone else to have the same. I called days in advance to schedule a cut and instillation of clip in extensions for an event I have. The stylist arrived 20 minutes late and then clearly had no idea what he was doing. He started installing them wrong and then stopped halfway through and said he couldn't do it. I find it disappointing that they would schedule my appointment with someone who doesn't know how to do the service I requested. I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone. read more

This was the worst hair experience I've ever had, and it cost me between $400-500. I'm including the before and after pics. I asked for a balayage and got 90's skunk stripes. I wasn't comfortable leaving my house til I got this redone elsewhere, which of course cost me another $500. Came to this place for a blow out in a moment of desperation after Dry Bar completely let me down. $30 seemed like a good deal and I was even willing to fork over the extra $10 for the curling iron since I know I need it. The experience was bizarre. The woman didn't seem confident at all in what she was doing and I spent a lot of the appointment with my hair over my eyes (which has never been necessary for any other blow out I've had...) The process took forever and looked ok when finished but by the time I walked 3 blocks, there was not an ounce of curl in my hair. Not. One. Single. Wave. To top it off, I got home to realize part of my hair was still pinned in the back. Sure, I can take that down but....Really? I just don't have that much hair. How was that missed? Had the blow out done for professional photos and very disappointed in how it all came out :( read more

I have gone to Ada at the 89th and Lexington location two times now (once in January and once this past week) and she is the BEST! Ada does an amazing job with blondes and blending your color even when you don't get into the salon often enough. She is super sweet and listens to what you want. She doesn't overcut hair when you ask for just a trim and she doesn't lecture you about how you should be taking care of your hair more- I appreciated that. It is tough to get a quote until they see you/you select the services, but I got a full head of highlights, olaplex (costs extra), cut, and blowdry and it totaled $338.85 for price reference. Expensive but it had been 6 months since I was in last and most salons UES are comparable to this price point if not more expensive. The assistant who washed my hair also did a wonderful job- very relaxing. The salon is clean, they play great music, and everyone who works there is very pleasant. I will continue going to Ada for as long as she is here and would recommend blondes to her as well! read more

If any of you have read my previous reviews you know I am hair obsessed and take my blow-outs very seriously. I had a last minute business dinner and my stylist was on vacation and the salon was booked, so I decided to throw caution to the wind and take a walk down 3rd. I found Amour de hair, which I have passed about 1000 times. It was midweek so I thought I would take a chance and just walked in. I waited less than 10 minutes Now I will admit that Carlos is not the chatty type-which is actually fine by me as I have absolutely no desire to make small talk. I do wish he had at least introduced himself -(didn't know his name until he finished and I asked) which is a pet peeve of mine. He asked if it was okay to use some product, and what time of brush I prefer. I get the feeling he knew I was a hair bitch and glad he asked. He was quick and my hair look fab! I have no intention of switching from my BFF stylist of 10 years for my twice weekly blow-outs, but in a pinch so glad that I found Carlos at Amour. read more

They did a nice job with my hair and were very friendly and nice. My mother also got her hair blown out and by the time we got home the curls had fallen out of her hair. When I arrived at the salon they talked me into a treatment because they woman who was supposed to do my hair was beginning another girls hair. They left me with the product in my hair for much longer. Then when the woman who was blowing my hair out was ready she convinced me my hair was uneven and didn't look good so she trimmed a tiny bit off the ends. She then charged my mother for a full haircut, style and treatment. I felt very uncomfortable and manipulated. read more

Great blowout, but I found the staff unfriendly. I was told a charge for a blowout ranges from $35-$45, depending on hair length, and I was charged the full $45. My hair really qualifies for the $40 charge -- it's not extra long! I had to ask for them to hairspray my hair, which I found strange. Weird vibe all around. Have you ever gotten a haircut so bad, so horrible and ugly and unprofessional that you were traumatized? Welcome to Amour de Hair. Me: "I want the layers cleaned up at the bottom." Abdel's translation: Okay, I'll chop off the entire TOP! I have ridiculously short layers on the top of my head so they don't even fit into a pony tail. It looks like overgrown bangs gone wrong. The bushy bottom layers are still - yep - just like that and the ends are uneven. I even pointed out at the end, isn't the left side longer than the right? No, he told me. Guess what, he was wrong. I now have to live with this crappy 'do for SEVERAL months (I'm guessing at least 8 or 9) until it fully grows in. For instance, today I'm wearing it up in a bun (and headband to hold the pieces that don't quite fit into it) to my corporate job. NICE. Then I went to the manager to complain a few days later and share my grief and she offered for me to come back and someone to work on it. Um, that would entail putting a scissor to it. Again. NO THANKS. She did not apologize or say she was sorry for the horrible experience. I will NEVER go to this salon again and neither should you. DON'T DO IT !!!!! I went there for the first time to get color done. I was very specific about what I wanted and I asked over and over, are you sure you can do this ??? The woman swore to me that it would not be a problem. Well, when the color came off it was horrible. Nothing like I asked for. I was reduced to tears. The lady who did my hair said she would redo it and I thought are you crazy, I would not let you touch my hair again with a ten foot pole. I asked for my money back and they refused insisting that I had to have it redone. Now, I have to pay twice to have the color corrected elsewhere. I got the worst haircut of my entire life at this Amor de Hair. I have stick straight hair and I showed Manuela a picture of how I wanted my hair cut. She proceeded to cut tiny pieces on the top of my head, so that now it sticks up. She cut most of my hair off the right side and it is longer on the left side. I asked for layer in back. There are none but she chopped layers all in the front of my hair. It is horrible and nothing can be done. It is too short on top to make a part and it is too short on the right side to put it behind my ears. It is a disaster. Three beauticians at another salon looked at my hair and all agreed that I had to wait 5 or 6 months for it to grow out till I can get a corrective cut. Do not go here. You will be sorry. I also learned that there is no manager in this salon or in their other salon. It appears that any beautician can just rent a chair and go into business. No quality control. I can't impress enough just how horrible this place is. Do not go. If you do you will surely regret it. read more
