I had roast beef and potato salad. Bread was fresh. Horseradish was not overpowering. My friend had hot pastrami and was pleased. Worth noting they had a small but good beer selection. I'll be back.

The bread is soooooo chewy and delicious I got the Italian for my first time and loved it. I always get all the toppings and half sandwich (and still can eat only half in one sitting). The person behind the counter helped me decide what to get, and I'm happy I followed their recommendations. No such thing as too much pickle, I got the pickle beer and chips! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's the first glimpse of fall, so I enjoyed the cool weather on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's mostly covered and I sat in the cushioned bench seat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking was a breeze on this Monday afternoon.

This is my second time visiting here, and I figured out the perfect order! Once again staff was super friendly, and my food came out pretty quickly for only having one person on staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It has a very laid back vibe with some cute cats that will visit you on the patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the buffalo chicken salad which was packed with flavor, and the half sandwich is the perfect size for one person. The blue cheese makes this chicken salad sandwich really stand out. I also tried the potato salad which was delicious, but I think could have had a little more seasoning. Luckily the bacon added a punch of flavor to it.

The inside is small, but cozy and the staff was quite friendly. I kept my order simple this time with a turkey and cheese sandwich. Went here with a friend for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised. It had popped up in some recommendations, but had never went to find it. It is located behind Avondale Common House, so it can be hard to spot if you aren't looking for it. They offer a variety of sandwiches, both cold and hot, as well as some bagels - the pizza bagels did look interesting - but I ultimately had to go with one of my favorite sandwiches, the meatball sub. I will say, a half sub will fill up most people, especially if you get chips with it, unless you are just REALLY hungry. They do not skimp on the size of their sandwiches. The meatball sub was good. The meatballs were flavorful, and the cheese was plentiful as well. My only nitpick would be that it could have used a tab more sauce - but again, that's a nitpick. My only warning is that if you're getting a drink, don't assume they have drink fountains like other restaurants. I ordered a water, but was not told that I had to get a bottled water. A heads up would have been nice. If I had known that, I would have ordered a soda instead.

They carry the best chips there. Voodoo is my favorite and ate it with the Bahn Mi. I highly recommend trying it. Don't let Spam scare you off because it's well balanced, and delicious. The parallel parking spots near the building are free to park in as well. The patio is gorgeous too. I cannot wait to have a party out there read more

First off, the name is genius. Second, the sandwiches are great. I got the roast beef this past weekend, perfectly thin shaved pieces on Bandit-baked bread...I was reminded of the time Kramer put a meat slicer in his apartment because by slicing your own meat "it's all surface area, the taste has nowhere to hide!" He also said "welcome to flavor country" in that episode, which has me wondering if Guy Fieri should come clean about the origins of his slogan and stop impersonating Smash Mouth's lead singer, who still owes my friend money for mowing his grass in the mid-90s btw. Not cool Harwell, we expect that from Violent J, but not you. Oh, and the patio out back is super chill. This place is in a really good food spot with some good choices all around it so I was curious to see how it was setting itself apart. It's the fast service place (can be) versus the more sit down places in the area. The food is pretty good. Meatball was one of the best I've had. The pastrami was forgettable. You do get a LOT of food with the whole sandwich which is good, but very few side choices- basically bags of chips. My big drawback was honestly the service. The guy taking our order could not be less enthused to talk to us, was very short with everything... it was so weird like I didn't make him to come to work! I would come back for the meatball sub if I really was craving one but would not come back otherwise. read more

So, ham and cheese sandwiches have been my favorite food since I was at least five years old. I've eaten many from many places. Good, bad, and just-plain-alright. Y'all. Ampersandwich's Hot Ham & Cheese is my favorite ham and cheese sandwich. The half is bigger than my forearm. Equally as awesome? The precious patio. It's huge. I stopped here during a day trip in Birmingham. It came highly reviewed by some friends but I'm wondering if my friends were in the right state of mind when choking these down? Im not gonna say it was inedible but...well, you fill in the rest. The bread was so over cooked my TMJ was flaring up trying to gnaw through it. And it felt like there was nothing to the sand which other than the bread. Tried this place out after hearing their ad on BMR. I had the Italian and my wife had the turkey melt. Both sandwiches were terrific. The bread is top notch, and the ingredients were too. While we didn't love the pasta salad, the potato salad was great. Avondale is fortunate to have this spot, and we will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu. read more

Alright, this place is THE place to go if you want a sandwich. They have a unique twist on their sandwiches that make them extra tasty. I've had both their turkey avocado bagel sandwich and the pizza bagel sandwich and both were AMAZING. My husband got the club and couldn't stop raving about it. Both the owner and people who work there care a lot about their customers and are very nice! If you are craving a good sandwich, here is your answer on where you should go! read more
