The furnace broke down at my elderly parents house right before the Christmas holidays. I called around to find someone and everyone was already on calls or were not available due to the holidays. Our ac broke over the weekend. We reached out to Ams through Yelp but a bunch of other contractors messaged us. Since we were desperate, we let one of them come and look at the system. He told us we would need a new compressor which was on back order and we should probably replace the whole system. This would cost from $4000-$12000. The ac unit had been replaced in 2018 and I thought that seemed aggressive. Then Moshe messaged me back. I wanted a second opinion before I was going to spend thousands on a whole new unit. Moshe came on a Sunday morning and he diagnosed it needing a new capacitor (not a compressor) and he fixed it that day for $800. I was elated. I signed a service contract with him. I've seen this show before with HVAC repairmen. Inexperienced and/or dishonest contractors recommend spending thousands on a whole new unit because they don't know what they are doing or are trying to rip you off. Moshe is the real deal!! I noticed my furnace was shutting on and off after a few seconds and it didn't seem normal as other times, so I decided to try out Yelp super late in the evening and their recommendations via the small questionnaire they gather and got a few selections from my area. Within a couple of minutes I got a response from AMS Air Conditioning and Mosse (the owner) said he could come check it out the next day, mind you this morning is Christmas Eve! He provided me with a quote and we decided on a time and he was very prompt and went straight to check on the issue! I reviewed them 5 summers ago (i remembered and told them it was 2-3!). Gave them 5/5 & partly did it to remember them. Called again today water was all over my basement. They were here within an hour. We had a Plumber in and they said said we needed the A/C guys. AMS agreed with the diagnosis and fixed the problem w/i 20 minutes. Just before Thanksgiving, we smelled gas in the house. The gas company came out and turned off the gas so I needed HVAC help to figure out the issue before it could be restored. The business that handled the initial installation when the home was built 5 years ago was not able to come out for two weeks. As I write this review, that would still be another 5 days that I would be waiting for them. I also tried a company that my sister recommended, they too had the same long wait. I was reluctant to try anyone else until I read the reviews here about Moshe. I decided I had nothing to lose so I gave him a call. He called me back quickly and we also exchanged info over text and he came that same day to troubleshoot. Unfortunately, he did not detect the leak and asked that I have the gas company back out and let us know exactly where the leak was coming from. He made some tweaks and tightened the union which was noted when the gas company came out. He did not charge me anything and told me to let him know what they find. The gas company came back out and detected a small leak and marked it with a ribbon and I took pictures to send to Moshe. At this point, it was late in the day before the holiday but he offered to come back first thing after. When he returned, he took care of the leak and turned the heat back on. No more smells of gas. His price was fair and he was very easy to work with. Now I have a go to guy in the future and someone I will strongly recommend! read more

Let's be honest, no one wants to shell out thousands and thousands of dollars to replace an HVAC. And that's exactly what happened to me. My HVAC broke down and I shopped around and found Moshe and his company. His prices were the best compared to the other places I looked at. I scheduled an in-home free estimate with Moshe himself (owner) and he came and looked at my HVAC and gave me different prices for different models. On the day of the installation, Moshe and two employees showed up to do the work. One of his employees even laid down towels on the floor so that they would not leave dirt all over the house! All in all, it took about 3-3.5 hours to finish (a lot faster than I thought it would take). After the installation, Moshe showed me how to work the new thermostat as well as tips to maintaining the HVAC. Overall, very responsive, especially when you message him through yelp. I was not satisfied with another firm that I'd been using over the years, their technicians seemed to be declining in expertise and their parts markup seemed to be growing unreasonable. Found AMS on yelp. Experience scheduling was positive, I communicated through yelp messaging and set the appointment; they arrived on time. their phone number hit voicemail so I used messaging rather than voicemail. The technician seemed well qualified and thorough- diagnosed why some water was dripping and did an overall system check. Refrigerant was low on both units, One was a little low, the other had bigger gap. I felt the inspection they did for the AC check was more thorough than the other firm I'd been using. the cost of refrigerant is high as my unit is older and not using one of the newer refrigerants. The tech was not high pressure trying to get me to spend the money or scaring me to fill the refrigerant. He let me know what could be left a little out of ideal if the unit was working ok. I decided to have it brought up to factory spec on the refrigerant as our electric bill has been rising and I suspect this is the reason, but appreciated not being a high pressure pitch. The only weird part was the payment at the end. I'm used to being presented with an itemized bill to pay from. The tech just gave me a total, took my email and said I'd get the itemization later via email from the office The total was in the ballpark I expected, but felt a little less professional not to see the breakout before I write the check. Sure enough I did get a professional invoice 10 minutes after the tech left; so it was all legit. Could be optimized to see it up front, minor suggestion. Overall, I was satisfied and will continue to use AMS. I've seen other reviews mention Moshe. I don't think that is who came to service my unit, but the tech who came was qualified and competent. read more

Not worth the trouble. Called Moshe based on the great reviews, but I experienced much less than that. Came to diagnose my humidifier, told me the problem was due to a particular part based on a service call to the humidifier manufacturer. He said he would get back to me about what the part would cost but never did. When I followed up with him about if he would come back to re-assess the problem or why he never got back to me about the part, he said he didn't want to deal with it. POS contractor who just wanted to steal some quick money form me. I would look elsewhere. I called another HVAC service company who accurately diagnosed and fixed the problem the first time. It was a simple fix but Moshe/AMS just didn't feel like doing the right thing this time. read more

The two men arrived at the scheduled time and quickly diagnosed the problem, changed the capacitor, and added freon. They were friendly and rates were very reasonable compared to other companies I contacted. I highly recommend. Edited to add: I contacted AMS again for our upstairs HVAC unit. It had stopped working. Moshe gave us options/pricing to replace parts, but the system was very old and he suggested replacing it. He gave me an estimate on several systems and we ended up having him install a new unit.
