The regular guy who makes the sandwiches here has an attitude problem. I'm sorry to say it, but he does. And not only that but today he messed up my sandwich. I ordered a tuna club on a wrap - it was clear as day, my two friends heard me order it, and he handed me a plastic container with a tuna salad sandwich on a cheap kaiser roll. I asked him politely to please remake it into a wrap like I asked, and he made me what my friends called a "punitive wrap," containing a tablespoon or so of tuna and the bare minimum amount of lettuce and tomato. I was very confused by the volume of this wrap - why was I being punished for HIS mistake? Please take a look at the photos if you don't believe me. This was disgraceful. To make matters worse, I was overcharged for the punitive sandwich. I have been coming to this restaurant for over a year. Every time I come in, I am charged the exact same amount, $10.83. For some reason today, the young man behind the register charged me $15.23 for my punitive wrap. I suppose I could have corrected his mistake but I was so unsettled and frustrated about the punitive wrap that I didn't speak up. One thing is for certain - I will never be returning to Amsterdam Deli. Here's how much business they're losing - 2 sandwiches / a week = $22 a week $88 a month $1056 a year. I placed an order from them on the TGTG app (too good to go) and the food that they put in the bag was skimpy. One 4"x5" container of rice and beans that had about 5 small chunks of mystery meat. One tiny roll and one muffin. It's supposed to be a regular value of about $20. read more

Straightforward NYC deli. No frills, but great selection of drinks and lunch/dinner items. Got the pastrami sandwich for 6.95, comes with free pickle, chips and a soda. Great value, can't complain. Was looking for a quick, inexpensive lunch and Amsterdam Deli did not disappoint! The combo meal (burger, fries, and a can of soda) came to ~$9 after tax and included a lot of food! Fries were solid too. I had the veggie burger (although you can choose a beef or turkey burger as well), and while it didn't look homemade it hit the spot. I came here because I was lost and I had my 13year old in tow with attitude because he was starving. Ordered an omelette it was flat, dry and not exciting in any way, even made my stomach hurt after for a few hours. My kid had 2 dogs with fries, I tried a couple of his fries, they were pretty good. I had food delivered and it was cold. The fries were mushy, and the sandwich was simply not good. The chicken was char-grilled and seemed burned to me. I don't ever waste food but I couldn't eat the whole sandwich and threw it away. They seemed to have a great menu so I was excited but the food I got was simply not good. Neighborhood Manhattan deli with Brooklyn prices. I have been coming here for a couple years now and have gotten constantly high quality food. Best part is as a regular I always receive a warm reception. My only complaint is that I received somewhat overcooked sandwiches a few times that left a burnt aftertaste. However, the times I received an imperfect sandwich are few in number compared to the amount of times my sandwich was created to my exact liking. So this use to be a great bodega for all your needs but now the staff has changed quite a bit and so have the prices They are trying to compete with Lenny's Gourmet by introducing salads and hot food but with these changes they are jacking up prices which is NOT cool! Best bodega / deli in the neighborhood. Come here all the time for the chicken Caesar wrap and the chicken quesadilla is out of this world. Been going here for 12 years. Lost my wallet one night and the guy who's worked there for at most two years was not gracious enough to give me water, knowing I'd come back the next day with money. He sees me at least 3x per week, I'm a loyal customer. It's a shame an establishment would turn away a loyal customer who will with no doubt come back, someone who's spent thousands of dollars there. He's obviously not seasoned or business savvy enough to know what a loyal customer means in the grand scheme of things. This place has changed and is not the neighborhood place it used to be.
