The setup is mostly DIY since you throw away your own garbage and etc. But they do bring your food and drinks out to you. They also have a restroom for customers and a self serve tap water station with glasses, which I appreciated. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich. All 17 options looked amazing, so I spoke to a regular in line, telling her I couldn't decide between "La Paradiso", the most praised (even though she informed me "mortadella is just bolonie" or the Hot Italian, which was more my style. So, I did what any gluttonous American would do and I got both. And a Diet Coke, of course. La Paradiso has thinly sliced bolonie for a savory base, with creamy shredded stacciatella cheese, with sweet but earthy pistachio cream, and a sprinkle of toasted pistachio for texture (that I didn't detect). It was good, but I will likely fuggedaboutit. The Hot Italian had thin, lean turkey, spicy and smoky spreadable Calabrian pork sausage, a balancing provolone, calabrian chili honey, and peppery arugula (that they claim adds crunch that I didn't detect). BUT they closed the booth so I switched to H&C. It was more expensive and almost as good. Then I stopped eating beef. Recently I started making beef stew again. I got some grass fed at Whole Foods. It was okay but I wanted better. So I went back to H&C. It cost $14 a pound but that's food now. I noticed when I unwrapped the package that there was much darker meet in the middle of the bright red meat. Older? Hmmmm. So I made the stew. And the beef was like leather. I lost more calories chewing than I did consuming. Some of it was so inedible I tossed it. That was about 20%. As I said, the worst. I would have gone back to complain but the place is popular so I was seemingly in the minority and you know what goes with that dynamic. Naw I'm going back to WF or raising my own in my NYC apartment.
