I was ecstatic to try out this place with my husband. So we ordered beef tartare, chicken thigh skewers, beef skewers, and their Hot Noodz (ramen) with pork belly. And for the drink I tried their "I think therefore I Yam". Food wise, I was a bit disappointed with the beef tartare because I was hoping some meat in it. Menu didn't say it was vegetarian.. so when I got it was scrambling for beef but there's none. Although it was still decent and flavorful. Ramen was also okay, the choice of noodles they use is usually the noodles you see on a stir fry noodles, not on soup. Noodles were undercooked and barely any soup to sip. The pork belly was hard and a bit overcooked. Chicken skewers were good and so as the beef skewers. They were tender. Staff were okay, but also didn't seem too welcoming. When our server gave us the menu, he seemed like he didn't even want to be there. So yeah idk. If I were to come back here again, I'd get the skewers and the I think therefore I Yam drink.. but that's about it. read more

Everything is awesome. Lego movie aside, I love this place. They always make me feel relaxed and care for everyone in such breadth and depth that they are clairvoyant. Never snack before getting there. I always enjoy having a pre dinner drink and they don't disappoint. My meal was exquisite and the monologue for each course is a delight and not a distraction. Strangers spoke with me and were inclusive. My wine pairings loosened my tongue and I was joyous. Starting and finishing strong the prix fixe meal was like a lithium battery on steroids; this meal will energize me with a powerful energy boost until I feel like indulging myself with an attitude adjustment. Food taste and presentation, table service and sharing of the inspiration for each course service, and ambiance with a featured artist's work on the walls, all were as tasty and interesting as expected. It was a wonderful surprise to learn that KIN supports local artists by hanging pictures by the current, featured artist and describing how one or more pictures inspired each plate served. Imagine having a dessert based on garden peas, and finding it quite good. Such are the surprises at KIN. From the appetizer, main dish, palate cleanser to dessert, each serving was flavorful and unique. We also ordered the customized non-alcoholic drinks, and they were fun. Each pairing featured an herb which tended to stand out in the drink; they added to each plating, for sure, and were worth the additional expense to taste such creativity. Boise street parking after 6 pm is pretty easy, so its not a hassle to drive and park close. KIN is definitely worth the dining experience. We may reserve again after the the menu changes in 5 weeks! Anniversary dinner at KIN with my wife. Service was fabulous from the Art Haus Bar through dessert. Food was delicious and inventive. Decor and ambience mostly on point, the actual lighting for the food was a bit weak. And music was at a perfect volume but the selection was a repetitive low energy European electronica. It was large table group seating, which normally we find perfect. In this case we were at table end and the entire room was compromised of much younger folks. And not a terribly engaging set of young folks at that, at least right where we were. We would much have preferred our own little table. But had we not been at table end (giving us more choice) or had our immediate table mates been more interesting, it would have been fine. So it goes. Our major complaint was presentation. And in this regard it it why we likely won't return. Each course was prefaced by it's narrative inspiration. In this case non profits. Forget the fact that it was annoying as hell to have my dessert prefaced by telling us the split in the chocolate delight represented the 15% "gender pay gap". Forget that it's factually absurd, even if it were a non profit for a cause I believe in (like veteran assistance), describe the food first so we begin eating, and keep the non profit description short and sweet. Not agonizingly long. Frankly, since you announced that these weren't agencies you donated to but wanted us to, maybe get your inspiration from nature or art. I asked them since this was a "season of giving" menu if the meal was free. Apparently it wasn't. While we are unlikely to return the food and staff were all excellent. And one of our serving staff even sang us a wonderful and sultry good-bye song. This is not a great romantic spot, but would be better with a small group. What an amazing Prix Fixe dining experience!!! Beautifully executed from start to finish. Innovative dishes. Fantastic flavors! This is an ABSOLUTE must if you enjoy fine dining experiences. They had my name and guest's name on a card to show where we were sitting and we sat across from each other in a long series of tables next to one another so we could talk and engage with fellow diners. A menu was provided for what was to come. EVERYTHING was delicious! Not a single dish was forgettable. I had the wine pairing option (strongly recommend but it is not a must) while my guest had the non-alcoholic pairing, which she enjoyed. They ended our dining experience with one of them signing a beautiful goodbye tune! How wonderful is that?!?! Very clever and artistic. read more

Visited Art Haus for their bar food menu on a Friday night, and while I was excited to check it out, the atmosphere felt a little too forced in its artsy approach. We started things off with the beef tartare, which was pretty good, but there was an odd aftertaste that lingered a bit. The loaded baked potato burger and fries were tasty and very heavy (what I was expecting). Unfortunately, the 'Hot Noodz' were a huge letdown. The broth was way too acidic and vinegary, which totally overpowered the noodles and took away from the excellent texture of the egg. Definitely a shame! If it's still on the menu by the time you see this, it's the French Onion Soup Burger. Like any top tier restaurant should, they change their menus, and if it's too late by the time you read this, go with your gut. If it's on the menu when you arrive, it's a top 5 best burger of your life. Side note. If you're into whiskey, they have a good collection with better-than-fair pricing. If you like cocktails, my wife and I have tried to find one we don't like, and we have failed thus far. It's too bad Yelp only allows for 5 stars, because this place deserves 10. We sat by the window and it was a good spot to have quiet conversations with a friend. They use a QR code menu, so that's an FYI if that's something that impacts your experience. In terms of service, our server was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. We only got drinks, so I can't speak to the food. We each got two mocktails. They were good! My only "negative" comment is the price point. They were all $10, and they were all relatively small. If it were a liquor-based drink, I'd understand that, but the price point seemed rather steep for a small mocktail that's done in a few sips. But I understand it also pays for the experience overall. You do see a line item for "health and wellness" for employees, and I've seen some other reviews commenting on that. I don't know what exactly that's for, but I don't think it's a big deal for that to be built into the final check. You can factor that into your tip amount if it's truly a deterrent. Overall, definitely a cool spot for post-work beverages or a Friday night with friends. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect but I found it as advertised. Lots of flavors and mixture of ingredients. Chef is outstanding. If you have not been it's not your normal dinner out. Your greeted with a glass of "Champagne" of sorts and is a nice touch. One seating per night and you eat at a long table with other guests. Name tags at your seat is also a nice touch. It's a set menus that changes monthly I believe? I found all the food very good to excellent! Some not my style but that's what this is about, trying new things. Only part I don't think I'll do is the wine paring. I found myself constantly wanting more to drink. They pour just about what you get when wine tasting but charge $$$ I think a bottle of wine if even offered would be a better choice. The service was what you expected at this price point and so was the atmosphere. They address you by name several times during the meal which is a nice touch. Find out we booked a supper, also 5 course prix fixe menu. It was led by a new talent. "Talent". We spent 200 dollars for the most mediocre,hyped, wanna be elevated disappointment. Flavors? Too complex they didn't blend. Plated items were pretty however each bite you were scratching your head asking "why?" It was a war in my mouth. I don't mean to sound harsh; and possibly we came on a bad night? BUT we came out of state, this is our lasting impression. It's a pass. Also! The wine? Some cheap Trader Joe flavorless swill. Such a sad dinner. We ended our torture at 11pm and were scrounging to see where we could eat. OH! Set in an art gallery, which was stunning and I immediately ordered prints of everything in the "Goddess" series, I knew we were in for a treat when we were greeted by the lovely hostess and champagne. The menu changes often, but we experienced the theme of "Good vs. Evil". Nothing was left on either of our plates for any course. A gem in Boise! We ate here for the first time a couple months ago and had the Hot Noodz, Mah Fry (with chicken and mushroom), and the Vegan Chocolate Cake. First of all, as someone who has been to some of the best ramen restaurants in Japan, NYC, and LA, I can say this ramen is legit. It's not the best I've ever had, but it's up there on my list and very impressive for the Boise scene. Wish I had gotten a photo of it. Highly recommend! We weren't sure what to expect with the Mah Fry but were open to trying it out. It did not disappoint! We easily could have ordered this x2. It comes with a dip that is very complimentary and delicious. Also highly recommend. Finally, the Vegan Chocolate Cake. I typically steer clear of anything vegan but vegan desserts don't scare me. This is no ordinary chocolate cake. It's dense, rich, and has such an interesting and unique flavour profile. I kept wanting more!!! The first time we got it, we didn't notice that it didn't come with the Asian pears on top, but it was fantastic regardless. This cake was so good, that I was craving it again last night. I've been thinking about it for months now...I stopped in and ordered a slice to take home and eat while Netflixing. This time it came with the Asian pears too! What a nice surprise! We went to Supper Club on Saturday night (9 pm seating, unpublished menu). The food was interesting and mostly very tasty - hats off to the chef and the cooks. However, the overall vibe of the place was inaccessible and pretentious. Where do you enter the restaurant? Pretty hard to figure out and poor signage/way finding (maybe that's intentional and part of its cool factor?) We ordered cocktails on the patio before the dinner and the service was lackluster. My partner asked our server to describe the flavor profile of a drink and she said "boozy." Um, duh. He followed up by asking what two particular ingredients were and she said " you know, just good mixing liquors." She knew nothing about the drink and could have just said that and told us she'd get more information. During the actual dinner itself I was uncomfortable with how much the host (owner!) was touching me (shoulder, arm) and just generally in my space when pouring wines, etc., and calling me "darling." Really? There was a very cliquey vibe with regulars and inside jokes between some guests and the hosts and it all just felt incredibly performative. At the end of the dinner the owner made some vaguely suggestive sexual joke about his (girlfriend?) only being good at one thing which was definitely... oh, wait, just kidding, Singing! She's great at singing. And serenaded us very awkwardly. If skeezy performative is your vibe, go for it.
