I love the fact that you can sample all the wine you want! Obviously you pay slightly more in doing it this way but it's worth it once in a while. I usually come on Wednesday's for happy hour. You can pay $30 and you get $50 on your card. I keep my card and just use it the next time I come in. You just walk up to the wine carousel and put your card it and push the button. Wine! It's priced out by ounces. So if you want more you just push the button again. There is food. Usually small plates. I try and get different things when I come in. I feel like their menu changes often so I don't usually get the same thing. It's a good place for happy hour, or a birthday, or just an early night out with friends. read more

I want to start off by saying I love wine bars! I was so glad to find out they had a sampling wine bar on the island. However, to pay so much for 1 ounce of wine is crazy. You will spend so much here if you do like wines. Now they do have deals on Monday and Wednesday I think, when you buy a wine card for $50, you only pay $30. Now they do charge you $2-3 for the card itself. Next time will just order a glass of wine. Now they also have a beer tasting too. I didn't have a chance to try it because it was a bar table as well and people were already sitting there. They also have a full bar option from the neighboring restaurant. This wine bar used to be one of my favorites, but has not been as busy in the past 6 months and wanted to write an update about the bar. They recently stopped doing their wine card special (where you pay $25 or $30 for a card with $50 worth of credit). HOWEVER, they have a happy hour with 50% off on all pours and their normal happy hour menu. Of note- happy hour is only Tues-Sat from 5-6pm- so that's a little too short to try wine. They still have great food, GREAT wine selections, and amazing live music with free parking. Still a nice pau Hana option... but maybe not as good of a value as it was in the past. read more

SERVICE - Poor! We ordered three menu items and only two came out. The wait staff tried to blame a mix-up in the kitchen, but it was obvious he forgot. Also, he brought us water at the very beginning and did not return to fill up our water until it was time to bring the bill. He did not come back to our table to see how our food was, if we needed anything, and we couldn't get his attention when we were trying to see where our food was and if we could get more water. FOOD - The two items that we were able to receive were the grilled cheese sandwich with house-made kimchi and patatas bravas. The grilled cheese sandwiches had one small piece of kimchi on it, that was about one centimeter by half inch. I didn't know what it was because it didn't even taste like kimchi. I love kimchi, and this was sadly disappointing. The patatas bravas were dry and bland. CLEANLINESS - I'd give a 5 out of 10. The restrooms were dirty. The table we sat at was good. SOCIAL DISTANCING - I thought they did good for the most part. The tables were spaced out. It's hard to have social distancing with the open wine where everyone goes and gets their own wine. To top it off, when I made the reservation, they asked if it was any special occasion; I told them it was for a friend's birthday. They said they would bring her a complimentary dessert. There was no mention of it while we were there. If they don't offer it, then they shouldn't mention it. I never expect anything for birthdays, but when they brought it up, I had her hopes up. I just moved back home to Hawaii and Amuse is my new fav wine bar here! Coming from the Bay Area and living near wine country, it's hard to find places in Hawaii that have good wine & food. Friday night there was live music. Amuse has the perfect vibe with dimmed lighting and a chill ambiance. The thin-crust sausage/pep/mushroom pizza was perfect. And the spinach caesar salad and french onion soup were a good combo. I ordered some cocktail with cotton candy on it. The drink itself tasted like juice (dangerous). How in the world is it that I've never reviewed Amuse? That madness has got to stop! Here's my review for one of my favorite spots. I also noticed I have been a bad girl and not checking in. Bad Elite Yelper, BAD ELITE Yelper. I hope I don't get tossed in the Yelper slammer for this poor, poor behavior. If they do throw me in the Yelp pokey, I hope its at Amuse. Amuse makes me very happy, especially pau hana. They have great specials and tons of wine to choose from. I girl likes to get her wine on now and then...ok, more like every week. Its *almost* never too loud to have a conversation (unless you happen to have a table next to the speakers when the music starts) and the food is very good. My favorite diet buster had got to be the grilled cheese sandwich with truffle oil. This ain't your mamma's grilled cheese. They also have french fries that are Toooooo Diiiiiiiiie For. I am a carb addict, I admit. I also love that parking isn't replete with drama there, especially in the evenings. Its very easy to get in and out. I totally dragged my fiancee there just for their happy hour. When we first got their we found out it was free valet parking! Score. My fiancee was very happy with that. When we got up there we were a bit confused about where to sit but after wandering around a bit we snagged a long table. After we sat down NOBODY came and took our orders after ten minutes of waiting so we went up to the bar and ordered. I got a glass of chardonnay and grilled cheese (because all you yelpers said it was amazing). And my fiancee got the sliders and a corona. After we ordered our drinks were brought to us. And I was all excited the service was nice (even though we had to seek them out) and they were discreet. All of a sudden my wine appeared at my elbow without me noticing. It was pretty awesome. And this is where there awesomeness ended. So as I am sipping my wine and enjoying the ambience of the place I realized it's been 30 minutes since we ordered and our food is still not here. So by the time we had gotten our food it had been an hour. Luckily for them the grilled cheese was AMAZING (good call yelpers). The fries were awesome (the bbq seasoning they put on them was bomb). And was my wine was awesome (I had a '09 Chardonany). If it wasn't for the quality of the food I would have given this place 2 stars. But since the food was bomb I'll give it three stars. I'm not going to give up though on this place. I think I'm going to go back and buy a card and have a girls night there. Maybe it will be more fun in a group. Definitely not fun as a couple. A few friends wanted to catch up over dinner and some drinks. One of them recommended Amuse Wine Bar. I've heard great things about this place ... and cmon, who doesn't love wine ? Located on the second floor of the Inspiration Furniture building, this place gives off a modern themed vibe. High wooden tables, dimmed lighting, variety of wine on tap, and so on. This being my first time, I arrived early to scope out the place. When I walked in I see two employees standing by the entrance. Well, what looked like an entrance. There's a couch outside the main doors and it was filled with people. I wasn't sure if they were waiting to be seated or just hanging out. I asked the employee if there was a wait and she just pointed and said "the seating goes all the way to the back by the glass doors that say Stage". Thats all she said and walked away. Found me a seat and waited for my friends to show up. The servers walked passed our table a few times and helped the family sitting on the couch next to us before they helped us. Even though we all were seated before the couch family. Anyways, the guy tells me about preloading the card for wine purchases. I load it and he comes back with my prepaid wine card. YAY. I ordered the meat lovers pizza. It was the special of the day. It was ok. Seemed like a flatbread I could've popped in the oven and purchased from Safeway. But hey, it was worth a try. The wine selections are nice. I wish they would have staff around the wine bottles describing them to the guests. I had to guess which ones were sweet and which ones pair well with my pizza. Anyways, when I got my bill, I saw a $2 new card fee. No big deal. Just wish they would have disclosed that to you prior to purchasing a wine card. Overall, an okay experience. Having been to Stage twice, I would walk out of the restaurant into the adjacent Amuse Wine Bar marveling at how packed it was. I knew I would have to come here. Finally when I could come, I unfortunately could not partake in any drinks, but still had a delightful experience. Their Brussels Sprouts came peeled and split into its leafy parts rather than in the usual miniature cabbage. I enjoy the denseness of Brussels Sprouts, so I did not particularly care for this version of the vegetable despite the great flavor. The Graham Cracker Calamari was outstanding. There was an unexpected sweetness that paired well with the sauce, and the squid was perfectly cooked. If you are a fan of kimchee and grilled cheese, I recommend taking a chance with their 'jbh' grilled cheese. And if you like cheesecake, I recommend their la bouquet dessert. Service was impeccable; helpful, efficient, and knowledgeable about the wines. Live music starts at 7pm daily. Come check out this sauve place in Honolulu. read more

No acknowledgement from the bar or any waitstaff, had to ask multiple times for service. We were given dirty glasses (not talking smudges). Kind of got attitudes. They had a bar back wearing the same thing as the bartenders that apparently wasn't allowed to take orders or something, which was super confusing. I came here for the first time on Saturday, 12/15. I was with a friend and we were running late for happy hour. I quickly go to the front bar and tell the bartender it was our first visit and asked her where we could sit. Seating is anywhere open with a menu on the table/counter. Being that it was 6:02, I bothered her one last time as asked if it was still okay to purchase the $50 wine cards for the $30 happy hour price. She said sure! To my surprise, she also asked if we wanted to order any food off of their happy hour menu, so that she could count it as their last call. I ordered the pork belly bao buns, which she recommended, and the truffle fries. I thanked her for the accommodations and in return, she thanked me for asking so nicely about it.. It was as if people were mean about it or something! Bless her soul! She started our night off to a perfect start! We found a small table close to the bar in the back and settled in once we picked out our first glasses of wine. Our fries arrived first and I was amazed at the size.. It was like 3 large McDonald's fries put together, but 10x better with garlic and truffle. The pork belly bao buns came next and they weren't like anything I've tried before. The skin of the pork belly was so crispy, it cracked as you bit into it. Really wonderful. There's live music from 7-9pm. I didn't catch the name of the musician, but he was so talented and played covers that sang to my millennial soul. 10/10 would tip again lol! We were then greeted by another bartender, Ian, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. He gave us some free glasses of wines he recommended based on what types of wine we liked and even brought out a free dessert for my friend, since we mentioned we were there as a farewell celebration. I've been to Amuse a few times before and it's always such a nice atmosphere. I'm not a huge wine-o so I'm not sure it's as impressive to me but I do love the idea of sampling so many different wines. The wines are good but they're pretty pricy and their happy hour seems to change and I'm not sure what it currently is. This last time we had a larger party (maybe 10 people) and we ordered food as well. The truffle grilled cheese was incredible. The service? Awful. The staff seemed so miserable and were not polite or attentive in the slightest. We eventually ordered a glass of wine and asked for the sample size, they returned with a huge glass. We were hoping they were just somehow generous with their pours, but nope- we ended up paying for $25 glasses of wine on top of the food and tasting card we had got. The food and drinks are good but I'm definitely not itching to go back based on the service and pricing. read more

I had the best experience at Amuse Bar! First date with someone and we decided to spontaneously celebrate her new job. We had great service all throughout the night. So many wine choices. I eventually gave into my hunger and I ordered the duck pizza they were offering as a special. Towards the end of our stay, the staff randomly brought out a lemon crunch cake with the words "Congrats" written in chocolate glaze on the plate. I took an uber here so i dont know the parking situation but going up to the restaurant from inspiration, its nice to see all the cool furniture that i wish i could have. To be honest, although they do have a lot of different choices, i was expecting maybe just a little bit more? There were about 4 rows of red wine but only 1 for whites? ): Food&Drink: bought a $50 wine card but didnt use all of it. The wines i have tired, i really enjoyed all of them. I also liked all of the food. The hummus had a nice consistency, and i enjoyed pairing some of the cheeses with the wine. Unfortunately i forgot the name of the desserts i ordered, but both had a very nice presentation, and were sweet enough to be satisfied but not TOO sweet. Ya know what i mean? I have been drinking wine for the last 2 years and I honestly dont know much about types and ages of wine. It was perfect and Wesley the event planner was so helpful, accommodating, present and really made it a special event. The minimum price for the space is so reasonable and your guests can spill out into the bar to get wine. Our servers were super attentive and kept everyone with a glass in their hand. It was such a nice elevated event and I'm definitely keeping them in mind should I need to plan any further get togethers for birthdays or anniversaries. The food was beautifully presented and delicious. The only thing was we couldn't get the leftovers packed to go per some regulation. It seemed a waste of a lot of good food. Came here for a late Christmas dinner with my girlfriends. It was a Saturday night and there was a promo going on for the wine cards. So everyone got a wine card, drank a glass of wine and snacked on some garlic fries. The musician Chris Salvador started playing right as we were leaving for dinner. I use to love this place, but just recently experienced bad service . I know covid made everything complicated, but to have a group on 10 ppl, and have to split the bill EVENLY, is ridiculous!! You can give them all the cards but they have to split the bill with even parts. Just doesn't make sense. They should make sure to inform all customers that this new rule. It's about time I write a little something about this place. I don't know why it has taken me so long. Perhaps I needed to make sure I was fully convinced of this place besides the nice, trendy ambiance down to the food. My work function was held in a nice and spacious private room overlooking Pensacola. It all started with the Amuse Wine Card (purchase for $2). Minimum is $20 to charge the card ($20 is not nearly enough). There are 80 select wine labels to choose from and I chose to stay with my dessert wine. I've learned to adore Robert Mondavi's Moscato D'oro. I should have just purchased myself a bottle. Customer service is amazing here and the servers and wine connoisseurs are always available for advice. Throughout the evening, there were Button Mushrooms, Steamed Soy Beans, Mini Grilled Cheese, Hummus Crostini, BBQ Fries to balance the alcohol. My favorite of the night were the button mushrooms and the Stage signature sliders. The mushrooms are sauteed wonderfully with lots of garlic and herbs, giving the texture more feel than the typical rubber. I'm normally not a big fan of hamburgers. If they're made right, I don't mind eating lots of them. In this case, the sliders were uber delicious, made with certified angus beef. This would be my second visit at Amuse and they have not disappoint. My most favorite would be their unique wine dispensing kiosks and the wine selections are aplenty. I've walked through the Amuse Wine Bar so many times before as my Mom lives in the Moana Pacific Towers where it is located and LOVES Stage Restaurant. She recently had knee surgery so I was in Hawaii for almost 2 months to help w/her recuperation, physical therapy, grocery shopping, etc. This is when I learned about the Happy Hour deal where they will sell you a $50 wine tasting card for $30. Then, when you put more money on it, it's ONLY $28 for a $50 credit!!! I believe they do this only between 5-6pm every day (call to make sure), but you can come back to use the credit on the wine card anytime. I hope they never take away this deal. It was so nice to be able to stop in on my way back from hauling groceries from Foodland Farms on foot to cool off a bit and taste some wines before going up to my mom's condo. I also met up w/some of my local friends at Amuse for an evening of tasting wines and enjoying their small plates/pupu menu (which is very extensive and delicious). The chef for the Amuse plates is the same as the head chef for Stage Restaurant. My friends had no idea about the wine card deal, but when they heard about it, they jumped at the chance to get wine cards for themselves as well. And, it's super fun to use those wine cards in the wine dispensing machines... like playing in Vegas, but you always WIN!!! And, I can't believe our bill for 3 adults and my daughter was less than $100 for this quality of food (that included two plates of Hamachi). I meant to pick up the tab for all the food AND drink, but they were having fun w/their own wine cards. This would make a great place to host a work gathering when you are picking up the tab. Buy everyone their own $50 wine card for $30 (as a gift) and go crazy on the food. People will have fun trying wines that they might otherwise think are too expensive and will leave thinking you are a big spender! One last note... some people get confused by the parking... you just need to go up Piikoi from Kapiolani, be in the left lane, take first left into Inspiration Design Studio parking before the entrance to the East Tower of Moana Pacific. Oh happy days! A wine bar that has multitude of different wines with knowledgeable staff workers with amazing food! I've finally reached the heavens! Walking into amuse you get this sense of class, given that it's located inside of a furniture store it makes it seem like a secrete gem and a gem it was. The staff was friendly and informed me about the happy hour prices which was crazy! If you put 28$ o your card to drink then they buy you $50, that's a total of $78 on your card just because you went in between the hours of 5pm-6pm. Though I missed the happy hour by a couple of minutes it's still something you need to know about for next time because you will be back to amuse. After walking around and trying a bunch of wine samples I decided it's time to have some food. Sat down at a table and a server instantly went to us which was refreshing to see such attentive service. This type of food isn't huge and is more like tapas style but let me tell you this is some of the best food I've ever had in Hawaii. Prices on the food were just right, remember you want to dine like kings you have to be willing to keep an open minded on prices and pay like kings. Prices ranged from as low $6 and went up to $16. I can't wait to come back to Amuse! This will be my go to wine spot from now on! My first experience at Amuse was years ago, shortly after they first opened. Before I had first gone there I was wondering what kind of place it would be. After all, I had never imagined a wine bar in a furniture store before. After my first visit I decided that it didn't matter that it was in a furniture store after all. I was hooked! The best nights to go are Monday's and Wednesday's from 5 pm - 8 pm because of the wine card recharge special of $28 for $50 worth of recharge. Also, happy hour runs from 5 pm - 7 pm, Monday - Friday. Even though this is a wine bar you need not worry if wine isn't your thing. They've also got mixed drinks and beer available. They've even got some of them as part of their HH offerings, but I couldn't tell you what they are. I always focus on the wine when I come here. The variety of wine they have here is great. It gives you the opportunity to try a wide variety of wines all in one visit. This is also the only place that I've ever had Opus One. And even for just the tiny pour that they give it was still pricey at over $20! One of these days I'll get me a bottle of that wonderful cab... One of these days... On my last couple of visits there was also some live music going on which complimented the ambiance and mood of the evening. Another plus to this place is the free parking in the garage. Finally came back to Amuse to take advantage of the wine bar deal: on Mondays & Wednesdays, pay $25 and get $50 in wine bar credit, only to be used on servings of wine (not food). Tip of advice - if this is your first time and you have to get a card, an additional $2 charge will be applied. Another tip - there is also an automatic additional $3 gratuity charge, so keep that in mind if you happen to have a credit card bill. (Essentially you're now paying $28 or $30 for $50. Still a good deal.) The wine selections were ... ok, I'm not gonna pretend I know much about wine, but for *me*, this is probably the most efficient way to get to try a bunch of different wines without buying the entire bottle. So I enjoyed it. Tried a couple merlots and cabernets, which went well. The other reason I wanted to come to Amuse was for the $5 Happy Hour appetizers. Available from 5 - 7pm nightly, the menu includes appetizer portions of the following (don't remember em all, but I'll give it a shot): - Steamed Mini "Puas" (4 tiny-sized char siu bao buns) - Asian Sliders (made with hoisin glazed pork) - Grilled Cheese Sandwich - Three Cheese Pizza (thin crust) - Veggie Spring Rolls (4, with lettuce leaves & sweet chili sauce) - Stage Frites (fries with BBQ seasoning/salt, with ketchup & garlic aioli sauce) - Edamame ... and I'm sure I've missed a couple. The Three Cheese Pizza was pretty standard - not outstanding, but still good. The fries were VERY good! Thin ones that were awesome with the garlic aioli sauce - I couldn't stop eating them. The veggie rolls were good - cooked perfectly with a subtle flavor that was good with the chili sauce. For $5, the veggie spring rolls were a good deal. The thing I like most about Amuse is the ambience, vibe and feel, though. I feel as though Amuse represents the term "lounge" very well, especially the low seating area as you first walk in. The higher tables & chairs give it more of a bar feel, but still, a very nice design of the place. Although it was fairly busy, the noise level was conducive for conversation without needing a bullhorn. Party nights and lively atmospheres are awesome, but every one could use that chill lounge set every now and again. The servers and bartenders are always very helpful and accomodating to you (though, the $3 additional gratuity is a little sneaky) and contributes to the chill vibe. Drawbacks: pricey on nights other than Monday & Wednesday; limited happy hour times; gets busy on occasion and table space is limited, so ordering a mess of food all at once will probably be an unwise decision Positives: the vibe, the workers - the Amuse "experience"; happy hour specials on food (all days) & wine card purchases/reloads (Mon/Wed only); easy parking; wide selection of wine for the not-as-experienced wine drinker like me Amuse, in my eyes, is a perfect place to talk to someone that you want to get to know better over a couple/several/handful/choose-your-own-vague-counter glasses of wine ... or just to enjoy a handful of different wines and getting to almost play a game just tasting different types. read more

To celebrate our anniversary, the boyfriend and I decided to come to Amuse to take advantage of some of the HH specials (Happy Hour is Tuesday-Friday from 5-7 p.m.). I had been to Amuse a few times before, but never during HH. It was one of our first (and favorite) date spots, namely because of the desserts. I called to see if Amuse takes reservations, but they only take reservations for parties of 6 or more from 5-6:30 p.m. Good to know. We arrived around 6:15 on a Tuesday evening, and it was relatively empty. Live music started at 7 p.m., so by the time we left, it was a little busier. I love Amuse because of the contemporary, upscale ambience. We were prepared to sit in the adjacent lounge area (in the room next to the bar) to get some peace and quiet when the live music started, but one of the guys at the bar told us we could actually sit at the bar in Stage or on the green sofas. He said it would be quieter for us in there, and we were so glad he made that suggestion. It turned out to be a relaxing date night ... and we almost felt like we had all of Stage restaurant to ourselves, since that restaurant wasn't really crowded, either. Sitting on the couches in Stage was a great alternative to sitting at the Amuse bar outside the glass doors. Service was good in that we got our dishes relatively quickly, but the girl serving us was really grumpy. We didn't even order that much (as we could have), and it's not like Stage was really busy and full of customers. But, other than that, we had a leisurely time on the comfy couches and enjoying good food. Here's what we ordered: "Grilled Havarti Cheese Sandwich": This is one of my favorite grilled cheese sandwiches on the island, and during HH at Amuse, it's only $5. It features house-made French bread, Havarti cheese and white truffle essence. I've had this app several times before, and it never ceases to satisfy. The cheesy blend is always on point, and each slice of bread is aptly buttered. I especially love the strong flavor from the Havarti cheese. The platter comes with three pieces; the boyfriend gave me two, since he knows how much I love this sandwich. "Buffalo Chicken Pizza": This flatbread pizza consisted of mozzarella, marinara, caramelized onions, sriracha butter hot sauce, blue cheese sauce, celery and baby arugula. At first, I was worried that the pizza would be too spicy for me to handle because of the sriracha, but the server told us it was only mildly spicy. She was right and I was relieved. The amount of marinara also wasn't overwhelming, and I really liked the succulent chicken bits. The whole combo was good, especially with the blue cheese sauce and arugula. The flatbread itself was a little soggy, and we basically had to eat each slice sandwich-style to prevent the toppings from falling off. But I really liked this option and would order it again in a heartbeat. They give a generous portion of the toppings. It was one of the pricier specials, but worth it. "Lump Crab Toast": The boyfriend wanted this app as soon as he saw it on the specials menu. It featured wasabi lump crap and bacon, parmesan cheese, tomato avocado puree and yuzu olive oil on four petite baguettes. I think this was the boyfriend's favorite dish of the evening, and I really enjoyed it too because of the crab. The wasabi flavor gave it the perfect kick, and the avocado puree was refreshing. We had two of the little baguettes each, and I gave him all of my tomatoes. The crostinis were really crunchy, but perfectly balanced by all the smooth, creamy textures. "Vietnamese Coffee Flan": This dessert included valrhona chocolate rocks, coconut sorbet, chocolate sauce and candied hazelnuts. I don't like strong coconut flavors, and this sorbet was so light and refreshing and it only contained a hint of coconut. While I normally steer clear of anything with coconut, this dessert is the exception. The coffee flan was mousse-like in consistency, but I relished every single bite -- it was creamy and the coffee flavor was strong. The chocolate rocks provided the perfect balance of crunch to complement the creamy, smooth flan, and I liked the extra sweetness provided by the chocolate sauce and candied hazelnuts. This is one of my all-time favorite desserts on the island ... and I've enjoyed a lot of chocolate during my time on Oahu. But I highly recommend this coffee flan because it's so unique in texture and flavor. Good thing the boyfriend had his own dessert because I didn't share much of this one. "Soft Mascarpone Cheesecake": The boyfriend's been on a cheesecake binge lately, so ordering this dish as one of our desserts was a no-brainer. It featured compressed strawberries, anti-griddled Hawaiian honey custard, Tahitian vanilla bean tuile and hibiscus red berry foam. This was a very interesting dessert and I'm glad the boyfriend ordered it so I could have a bite. It tasted less like a cheesecake than I anticipated; more like a fluffy vanilla cake. read more
