I really wanted to give this place a try. I had an appointment today at 1pm with Sarah. At 12:30, I get a text asking if we can push the appointment to 1:30pm, sure. Between 12:30-1:30 we were texting to confirm hair length, roots, and color. I get to the salon at 1:27. When I walked in the door, nobody was there to greet me so I just sat and texted Sarah to let her know I was there. She texted back "one sec had to get the hair products, sorry" I sat there and waited an hour. I then walked out to take a phone call in my car. While on the phone, I texted her asking if she wanted to reschedule for tomorrow since I had already been waiting an hour and the salon was open on Sunday's. She replied with "I dont work Sunday's, I can give you the number to another hair stylist or if you want to cancel thats fine." What she didnt know was that while I was in my car, I saw her drive in, get out of her car (no sense of urgency) with the hair products in her hand a whole hour later and said "im here." This whole time she made me think she was just in the back working on another client when she wasn't even there. Had me waiting for a whole hour pretty much just for her to get there. I told her she was unprofessional and she replied with "thats fine." Rude and unprofessional. Dont see you long term in this career if you treat your clients like nothing. Karina vibe was off and initially I was hoping my stylist was another woman. Welp got her so gave her a shot. She seemed unengaged throughout my haircut and did it all pretty quickly, like not much heart was put into it...I understand people have bad days but as a grown woman (much older than me) and working in a business of this profession.. it's your job and I'd hope, passion, to cut people's hair and radiate positive energy. She seemed envious and nothing about my visit felt like a girls visit to salon. The conversation was meek and vague. Her lack of basic courtesy and professionalism showed a disregard for customer experience! Even at payment, there was no eye contact at ALL . When I asked how much she would charge for a soft black color she said $250 just for that on top of $75 cut. She was a real fool to even give me a business card, got NO tip in return. While the space is on the smaller side, it's thoughtfully laid out--you never feel cramped, and it still feels open and comfortable. The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful and relaxing, which made the entire experience even better. Sarah Ayala was the stylist who did my hair and--WOW--she absolutely nailed it. I showed her a few inspiration photos and explained that I hadn't done anything to my hair in years because I was focused on getting it healthy enough to handle lightening again. While I didn't explicitly say I wanted it lighter, Sarah somehow understood exactly what I was going for based on the images I shared. This review isn't for the salon but the stylist Justeen Jordyn. I've been going to her consistently for over a year and had consistent issues trying to schedule with her. She's canceled multiple times same day, and this is a 40 minute commute for me. She says she takes 48 hours to respond, and also holds your "spot" for 48 hours before you send a deposit. I have seen her for cuts and tones; my last appointment was around 8-9 weeks ago where I wanted to assess my hair for a balayage/highlights so she did two test strips. My hair didn't lift and instead came out orange and I have only used gloss so she recommended a tone and cut (no gloss until next appointment). I reached out to her in September requesting to schedule an appointment, and it have been 3 weeks now that she's been inconsistently responses and changed her deposit from 20-50 dollars for an analysis. Sad because I've seen her multiple times but she seems to not take her job very seriously or atleast get a booking app to avoid to inconvenience to her to book her clients. read more

Aliana Metzli did my hair. I asked for a specific color White and pink. I showed her a reference photo of what exactly I wanted done. The white she did was more of a grey tone instead of a "white" tone. She told me. After some washes your hair will be white because of all the product that was in my hair ( bleach and toner). The pink came out good the white didn't. The first wash turned completely blonde. Hence me using redken brand; purple shampoo conditioner and shampoo. I texted her telling her my hair turnt blonde and told me she wasn't the right stylist for me. If you're going to scam me and charge me $280 for a service you can't do/ provide then why even take the job if you can't do it? Not once was I ever rude to her, but her saying she can't refund me on a service she messed up is ridiculous. At least I should be able to get is half of what I paid for ($140). But she wants to instead run away with the money with service she can't even due! read more

Let me reiterate, my "intel" radar picked up on chatter my Viet sisters Linda and Emma were now established at Salon Madrid and booking appointments. It was a difficult decision being that I'm a very loyal customer, I reached out and Linda took my call to my surprise and we instantly shared a good laugh. Linda is a well known hair stylist with steady clientele, knows her craft and loves to share her positive energy, it naturally rubs off. Emma is a specialist at her craft of 30+ years specializing in Pedicures. She also has plenty of energy and loves to converse with her loyal clientele while she relaxes you with her comfort station as she does her magic. I've know Linda and Emma for 8 years and they have truly define "service" and deliver 1st class treatment with professionalism. Salon Madrid has the warmth and comfort with a really cool décor. They even have a wet bar and are known to serve finger foods such as Tapas and Lettuce wraps or whatever they're feeling on the house. On my first visit, I was comp'd a chilled Mimosa to help polish off the edge. Located at the south/west corner of Foothill and Haven. Look for the Midrise housing complex with retail/boutique stores at ground level. Ample parking stalls and parallel parking, too. I was looking for somewhere close enough to Ontario Ranch that does Brazilian blowouts, and I came across Salon Madrid. Based on the reviews, I decided to give it a shot. The salon is so cute, and I am so surprised I haven't seen it earlier considering how often I am in this shopping center to eat nearby. I had Sarah do a cut and Brazilian blowout and I am IN LOVE with my hair. She was able to bring my desired cut to life with very vague direction from my side due to my lack of being able to describe what I wanted. To top it off, the treatment made my hair so soft and flowy. I think this was the fastest Brazilian Blowout I have ever had, and it was primarily because she used a blow dryer to dry the solution rather than sitting me down at a dryer station like other salons I've been to. I am so happy with my hair and I'm 100% coming back to Salon Madrid and Sarah for my next cut. read more

Nope! Went here for a color and cut and both came out bad. I was really excited to go to this salon based on the look of the location and reviews even though there are a couple of bad reviews. About my color. I told the stylist that I wanted light brown throughout and blonde highlights. I was definitely not happy with finished product. It was not as blonde as I requested for it to be. I ended up going to another girl at a different salon to fix the color. I didn't know if I was just over reacting about how I felt towards the original color job but the second stylis she told me that the right side of my head was done nicely but the left side definitely needed some more work and that the bottom half of my hair looked like there were hardly any highlights at all. I did pay for a full highlight. Hair cut. Maybe this was a bit of a miscommunication but she cut my hair way too short. This was probably the worst part of it all. I had fairly long hair. I ask for about 3 to 4 inches to be cut off, falling somewhere below my shoulders. I also told her that I prefer long layers. My hair basically sits on my shoulders with the shortest length at just below my chin. Not only was it cut too short, the layers are not nicely blended. It's very choppy looking. And once again, the second stylist confirmed that I was not over reacting. Before I even complained about the cut she asked me if I wanted her to fix the cut too. I told her no because that would likely mean cutting off more length. I'll have to slowly fix it as it grows out. Another issue with my length is that my hair is naturally curly so I now have to straighten it because curls do not look good at its current length. I called the salon after getting my hair fixed to ask for a partial refund for either the color or the cut since both were bad. The manager told me that because I went somewhere else to get it fixed that there was nothing they were willing to do. He said that had I come to them first they would have offered to fix it or refund me. I told him that the option of me letting them fix it was never an option therefore the only option is a refund. He told me that he would talk to the stylist and call me back. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK! I have a feeling that not returning phone calls is a usual thing. While I was getting my hair done someone called asking for the manager. The caller was told that the manager was not in. However, there was a man there that seemed to be the owner so I dont know why the call wasn't forwarded to him. Red flag! read more

"IT WAS STRESSFUL AND TO BE HONEST WITH YOU I DON'T THINK I'M THE HAIRDRESSER FOR YOU" was the text I received. I spent the day feeling awful as though I did something wrong....literally spent the ENTIRE day analyzing what I could have done wrong...was I offensive?...was I rude??? Today, I woke up and refused to let it bother me because I did nothing wrong. The ONLY thing I FOUND myself guilty of was HOPING that I'd get a DECENT hair color. I was COMPLETELY POLITE AND NICE when my hair was left an orange brassy color and I asked if she could fix it both the FIRST and SECOND TIME. The first time she did my hair it was left orange. She goes on to question my shampoo after I had ONLY washed it twice...(not to mention I use Alterna shampoo) in less than ten days. The second time, the lighter brassy greenish hue, I asked if she could fix it by just dying my hair dark again to mask the mess of my hair. I couldn't get in to see her right away due to her schedule and my work schedule. So over the waiting period of time, I decided that my hair had been through enough and cancelled on the going dark in hopes of going blonder in the future. When I text her to let her know... I received the text that my future appointment had been cancelled and that it was stressful...that she wasn't the right hair dresser for me... She even had the audacity to refer me to another co-worker, as if that wouldn't have been awkward. Her honesty made me feel bad, but I respect it and appreciated it. It too, however, confirmed my need to share my experience not in hopes of deterring business from this establishment, but just some food for thought.
