Got a cheap suit on sale at Macy's and figured I'd go get it tailored to make it look a little nicer before my work Christmas party. Staff was super friendly and knowledgeable and took care of me right away. They were able to rush the alterations and get it ready for me the day before my work party. All in all, best money I've spent on clothes, I got more compliments on that suit during the 3 hours of the party than I've gotten on all my other clothing combined. He had the perfect light grey pinstriped suit, recommended the kind of shirt to go with it and we also bought that there, did the tailoring...pretty good price, I think it was somewhere around $500-$600 all told. He was a pleasure to do business with - a bit gruff but that's just him. I had a jacket that was custom made online and I needed it to be adjusted. Anatoly's said the adjustments were major and they ended up costing me the same amount as the jacket itself. Since I had read such good reviews online for Anatoly's, I was totally fine with leaving it in their hands. I needed the jacked for a wedding I was attending for a coworker the next week. I called Anatoly's on the day they said the jacket would be done asking them how things we're going... "did we call you to say it was done?" They responded, "no but I was just checking..." i responded defensively. They said it would be done at noon the next day (the day of the wedding). I planned to pick it up then. I went to Anatoly's at noon to pick up the jacket and they seemed dumbfounded about my appearance in their shop. After a few minutes of searching and thinking, one of the sons said "I must have left your jacket at my house. I can go home and get it." Unacceptable. I asked where he lived and he said San Ramon. There was no way he could go there to get it, come back, and make it back in time for me to go to the wedding. They then offered to use one of the jackets they had in store for alterations. I accepted the offer. What else could I do? Anatoly's said to come back in an hour. That was cutting it close and I had to bring my boss to the wedding, which made it more complicated. When I came back an hour later, of course the jacket wasn't finished. My boss waited in the car outside as I watched Anatoly's sew my new jacket. I was pissed because I was already going to be late. I asked them if there was anything they could do for me...like give me a discount on alterations that I already paid so much for... they began to argue with me and say I was being ungrateful and they were doing the best they could. i politely reminded them I was now going to miss a wedding ceremony and my boss was waiting in the car and it didn't seem to matter. They got louder and louder with me arguing with every word I said. I told them I wanted to keep bringing my business there and I needed them to work with me. They said they didn't want my continued business. So after that I tried to pick my jaw up off the floor after days of disrespect. Eventually, once they finished my new jacket I took it and left without another peep....until now. I know this is a long one and I'm sure Anatoly's does great work, but I have yet to experience even a small amount of decent customer service and I think that's a pretty big deal. I'm just saying be aware of how oblivious and unconcerned they are about everything you care about. read more

I'm glad to have finally found a tailor that I can trust. Over the years I've gone to multiple tailors and seamstresses and I've always had some disappointments. Got a jacket and pants altered here and safe to say, I'll be taking all my tailoring needs here. I needed to shorten the sleeve length and jacket length and he did such an amazing job, you can't even tell it was altered. My pants were hemmed and tapered perfectly as well. Nice little mom and pop shop. Great customer service. I forgot my card during drop off and instead of having me drive all the way back, he just sent me an electronic invoice. read more

I brought in an off-the-rack suit a week before the wedding. Being a woman wearing men's suits, I knew there would be a lot of work done on both the shoulder structure, arms and hips. They pretty much recut the whole jacket. The staff was friendly and they didn't bat an eye about us being a queer couple. In fact, there were other queers coming in to get things fixed after another (now closed) tailor messed up their suits. When I picked up my suit, I thought maybe there would be more room to let it out at the hips. They were willing to open it up for me to understand how much material was left. Not knowing enough about tailoring, I usually bought a smaller size to fit my shoulders better instead of the hips. We talked through how to buy in the future to fit the hips and how they could always bring in the shoulders. Good tip for a woman in mens suiting. Anyway, the suit looked great. I got a ton of compliments on it and questions on where I got it tailored. If I were to do my wedding over again, I'd have just gone in earlier to have them make a made to measure suit for me. read more

Almost two years after my first visit (which resulted in a five star rating) I returned in search of a suit. The staff greeted me like I was there yesterday. Not in that can inauthentic type of way; they actually remembered the conversations we had, the type of suit...etc. This is the customer service of old that we all miss. The quality and uniqueness of products you will find here is unmatched. They aim to have you looking good and I doubt they miss the mark often. They have a great accessories as well. I'm still debating on purchasing a crazy patterned sports coat when I pick up the suit and don't forget the watch repair station! Hands down, one of my favorite stores to visit. read more

Walked in with two pairs of chinos, two oxford button downs, and a pair of trousers all needing to be done in a tight time frame (UPS delivered them late) - Anatoly set some reasonable time limits, bumped them up on hearing my case, and then delivered the chinos *same day*. I went to Anatolis to have a very expensive English shooting jacket altered. It had several layers of lining Gore-Tex and wool along with complex leather stripping and finishing's. It was quite a lot of alterations required and they did an incredible and brilliant job. I heard about them from a friend who gets all her suits tailored there and she always looks fab, so I brought them my problem piece, a jumpsuit that needed some creative solutions to work for me. Despite being a non-standard tailoring job they were happy to take it on, and worked on it across two separate fittings to make sure it was perfect, despite being slammed both times I popped in to try it on. I took an off the shelf jacket in to be taken in on the sides, have the shoulders modified, and the sleeves shortened. They were able to achieve it all by modifying the arm holes. I appreciated that they helped me reach my goals as cheaply as possible, and also checked between three tailors to make sure it was the best route. DO NOT GO HERE. I paid $70 up front to get my bridesmaid's dress shortened. Ten days later, I returned to find a grossly uneven hem--noticeably longer in front. As the front was the correct length, I couldn't get the back taken out to fix it. (The one positive was that they color-matched the thread.) He offered me no compensation--I had to ask for a discount, and then he proceeded to negotiate. Bad job, bad customer service, overpriced. Stay away. read more

They have inventory that includes both the high-end, water/stain-proof suits from Italy for special occasions and the factory-made everyday suits for work. After mentally preparing for the agony of suit-shopping for the past few weeks, my bf and I finally worked up the courage to take a look. We had no experience in buying suits and were pretty worried- since we didn't know where to start. Thanks to Yelp, we decided to check out this store because of the good reviews (&the potential yelp deal). Anatoly was exceptionally helpful and attentive from the moment we walked in, and worked with us to settle on a color before a fit. He also worked with us to find a nice suit that matched our graduate-student price range. In the end we chose the Salt and Pepper Baroni made from the Super 150's Worsted Wool. Anatoly and his assistant helped us match this with two silk ties, and suggested shirt colors to really make the suit pop. Anatoly fitted my bf in a matter of minutes, and said it would be ready for pick-up in a week. It was all extremely quick and stress-free! We celebrated our victory in suit-shopping by walking over to Fenton's next door and buying ice-cream :) read more

In short: completed ruined my brand new suit jacket by tearing the material and very reluctantly acknowledged it was their fault, totally unfriendly and completely unprofessional. My advice is avoid them completely for tailoring services. If I could give negative stars I would. I've been to a lot of different tailors in my life and have never been a) treated so poorly and b) had a tailor totally ruin a suit jacket on very routine alterations. I took a brand new suit jacket I purchased elsewhere for my wedding to Anatoly's to have a few minor alterations completed on it. Anatoly's had lots of good reviews and seemed like they could handle dropping the sleeves and bringing in the back a bit. Dropped my jacket off at Anatoly's and picked it up a week later. Put the pants on, which they had hemmed and they weren't hemmed enough. They argued with me and told me I was wrong on my opinion of how my pants fit me. Then I tried on jacket, which was tailored well... with the exception of multiple rips and tears on both sleeves where they had lengthened. I'm not talking a small marks, I'm talking a bunch of small tears and then a quarter inch tear in the sleeve on a brand new, never before worn jacket. Anatoly's reaction to it? Try and blame it on me. "Those look like moth holes" "That was probably there" "We didn't do that" are all things they said. Not once did they apologize for what was obviously their tailor's mistake. Eventually, they very reluctantly agreed to buy me a replacement jacket. They were rude to me the entire time and made it seem like somehow I was being unnecessarily demanding for them ruining my wedding suit 3 weeks before my wedding. To top off the whole experience, they very reluctantly agreed to refund me for the amount I paid them to alter the jacket, since they had now ruined it and I was going to have to take it elsewhere to have the new jacket tailored. But, they never put through the refund and I'm still battling with my credit card to reject the charges. I can't speak to the quality of their suits or clothes, but I can say that they were the least professional, poorest tailors I've ever used in my life. I know mistakes happen, but their refusal to accept responsibility for it and the way they treated me as a customer makes me highly suggest you take your business elsewhere. read more

I was having a t-shirt tailored which might be beneath a legitimate tailor, but regardless I felt first of all that the price was high to sew a simple shirt, and second that his attitude towards me was somewhat unpleasant. Another yelper said that you could just mention the yelp deal and that would be fine, but I clearly hadn't charmed him enough for that trick to work. Afterward I did buy the yelp deal and use it when I picked up my clothes and paid. Anatoly is the man. I've been coming here for less than a year. I only wish I had known about this place rather than shopping at Nordstrom's for all those years. Where Nordstrom's has 10 times as many suits at twice the price, most of which you would not buy, Anatoly's has a much slimmer selection, all of which you'll want to buy, all at a very reasonable price. Located on Piedmont Avenue, Anatoly runs a small shop. He frequently has very good sales, but a good suit won't set you back that much even at the regular prices. Anatoly started as a tailor, and stays on the cutting edge of men's fashion. He cares passionately about this stuff. I recently went in (again) with my dad and brother to get suited up for my wedding and rehearsal dinner, and Anatoly did not disappoint. I got a beautiful, handmade suit, for a very reasonable price. Anatoly will offer advice if he thinks you are making a mistake. Case in point: my dad has always worn his suits a bit too big. When Anatoly was fitting him, he pointed out that the suit my dad wanted was, in fact, one size too large. He graciously acquiesced to my dad, of course, but having a knowledgeable salesman who will tell you these kinds of things is crucial. The day of the rehearsal dinner, I realized that I needed a new pair of slacks. I went in, and Anatoly fitted me, and fitted the suit, as I waited. He threw in a free tie to make the outfit pop. When I asked jokingly why he offered such good advice and prices, he said (with a straight face) "It's my job". This man takes his work seriously. What else... Do not haggle! Though I have never done this myself, some people don't know a good deal when they see one. Anatoly consistently makes cheaper offers for better suits than you would find at Nordstrom's. The prices he quotes are the best he can reasonably offer, and the best you will be able to find. I will definitely be going here for as long as I live in the bay area. read more

"I've experience better." I think that is an accurate depiction of my experience at Anatoly's. First, their pricing is slightly inflated. To put it quite simply, it was $12.50 to have my slacks hemmed. Having my dress shirt fitted cost me another 50 dollars. Next, when somebody tells me that they'll have it ready for me by Friday (a week), I don't expect to walk through the doors to see that they have not even finished my alterations. Not only was I frustrated at having to wait another day, Anatoly did not once apologize but instead sought first to defend himself by saying he had been really busy. No doubt that you were, Mr. Anatoly, but being late and arguing with customers is not the way to do business. Needless to say, the younger gentleman working there called back later in the day to apologize for the inconvenience and even offered to hem my pants for free next time. I was referred to Anatoly's Mens Wear by my friend, who is a long time customer. It is one of the best men's cloth boutique stores I've seen in and around the town! I was greeted by the owner, who was able to measure me out in a second and show the selection of different items in a store that will fit my size. I found a large selection of men's cloth: jeans, shirts and suits and designs are just for my taste. The best experience is alteration! Anatoly was able to custom taylor a suit, pants and shirts.
