We ordered the salads and all look fresh and very good ingredients. We were never offered fresh bread as I usually are? My weekday lunches with my tuna melt issue ; always offered fresh hot excellent bread? I ordered the Ceasar salad with chicken . It was a good , not a real great salad , it was fresh and was a decent replacement for my tuna melt. But I wanted more of an authentic Caesar taste with an anchovies or Dijon, worchershire, egg and a normal stronger Caesar salad taste, shaved parmesan taste... like I've had elsewhere . It needs more flavor to the salad . it was ok but was just ok .... Dressing may have been out of bottle Caesar salad dressing. My guests their salad selections both looked well prepared . I missed my hot bread to eat as an accompli-ant to an any salad. It is a great dining environment and consistently good.

My kids and their cousins came to enjoy it as one of their go to dishes. Just the right amount of spice and good crunch from the crispy nachos. A lot of iterations of Cottage have come and gone since we were first introduced to it almost twenty years ago. They still serve passionfruit iced tea that hits with a nice tart and a hint of sweetness from the orange. Their sandwiches are tasty, I had a blackened cod. The slaw was a touch too runny, it absorbed the heat of the sandwich and overwhelmed the poor onion ring. The cod survived the onslaught, though, and was well cooked and seasoned. Avoid the charcuterie. It was a mess that looked like it was sourced from the deli counter at the local grocery store. Service was friendly and prompt. Still a decent reliable spot in Wellesley!

We kicked things off with a very dirty vodka martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, paired with their warm, freshly baked cinnamon bread that disappeared almost as quickly as it hit the table. For appetizers, we ordered a bowl of rich, creamy New England clam chowder & the seafood on ice platter featuring perfectly chilled shrimp & sweet jumbo lump crab. Then came the pièce de résistance: three perfectly steamed chicken lobsters. Because let's be honest...one is never enough & two is too many! They were steamed to perfection, sweet, tender & everything you hope for during lobster season. To top off the evening, the staff surprised hubby with a decadent slice of chocolate cake layered with rich chocolate ganache & topped with fresh whipped cream for his birthday. It was such a thoughtful touch & made a wonderful evening even more special! The service throughout the night was warm & attentive. Add in fantastic live entertainment & the beautiful riverside views outside the restaurant, you have the recipe for a memorable dining experience. We will definitely be back for another visit. If you are looking for outstanding seafood, exceptional hospitality & a classic New England dining experience, The Old Grist Mill Tavern is absolutely worth the trip. Highly recommend. We were seated promptly even though our entire party had not arrived yet Our server Jess was incredible! She explained how she would do the separate checks and took care of the whole table by herself. She was pleasant and checked in with us often. There were a few women with dietary restrictions and she happily went over menu choices with them Food, as always was perfect. It never disappoints some had lobsters others had sole, cod, salmon Love the rustic charm and that it is one of the oldest taverns in the state although it had been rebuilt after a fire many years ago. The chef actually crisped up croutons in a skillet so they were warm, and it ended up being the best caesar salad I have ever had. My seafood stuffed haddock was cooked perfectly and filled with flavor. Everything that hit our table was seasoned perfectly and fresh. These are clearly high-quality ingredients prepared with care and time, and it shows--absolutely worth the price. Compared to what you'd pay in Boston, I found the pricing very reasonable. I've been hoping for a restaurant like this ever since moving here 15 years ago. Until now, I've had to drive about 35 minutes to Solstice in Kingston for a similar level of food--and at a higher cost. I'm excited to come back and explore more of the menu, especially the burger. It's almost unheard of to find a place that makes its own burger buns from scratch or uses ingredients grown at a local farm. That kind of commitment to quality and craftsmanship is what truly sets Aire apart from our other local options that all rely on frozen, prepackaged ingredients and premade sauces filled with chemicals. Most importantly, when the owner of a restaurant is also the chef and also the person actually cooking your meal, you have the rarest situation in restaurants....the best situation for quality.
