We had a wonderful time at Waterman Grille! We came here as a celebration and it did not disappoint. Drinks were innovative and delicious. Food was all very well made. Parking was very ample. Food can be a bit pricy but the environment is very nice.

One of my favorite places in Rhode Island- I love the food, ambiance and the service! I always order the calamari and the burger special they have on the menu (French onion burger this time). I enjoy the great view of the water while dining- and today I had the pleasure of sitting in the upstairs room! Keep it up Waterman Grille! I do miss the big pickles that used to come with the burger, but still delicious. Also, there was a wedding downstairs so it was a bit busier than usual but still excellent and plenty of parking!

We were seated upon arrival for our reservation and given the choice of inside the dining room or in the covered/heated porch. We chose the porch as it was less crowded and quieter and the temperature was pleasant even though outside temperature was below freezing. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. We were offered bread which was delicious, soft and crusty with wonderful butter. I got the Mezcal Lime Rickey as a cocktail and we shared the calamari and shoestring fries for the table. Both were great and came out quickly. I got the hanger steak, served with fingerling potatoes and broccolini. For dessert, I had the salted caramel sundae. Fantastic experience.

Update- Waterman Grille is still as good as it has ever been! I absolutely love their burger! I also love their appetizers: calamari, mussels or clams depending on the season! Fantastic drinks, lovely service, great ambiance, and if you get a window seat- a superb view! I always look forward to an evening at Waterman Grille!

Service: wonderful service. Our waiter was very kind and thoughtful. Food: Deviled eggs - very delicious. Nothing super special, but a good classic deviled egg. Korean chicken wings - 10/10! Paired with kimchi that was perfectly cooked and a yummy sauce. Hanger steak - very good but could have used some sort of sauce on the side. I had it cooked medium but next time I would order it medium rare. Cod - soft and moist. Light flavors that were a great balance to the Korean fried chicken wings Shrimp pasta dish - shrimps were cooked perfectly and the pasta was light but creamy Drinks: Eastern influence cocktail- too different for our taste! Very sesame forward Noble Rhode - SO GOOD! Very beautiful color as well :)

We sat at the bar and watched the NFL game. Rebecca took great care of us. Everything was phenomenal ...job well done! Negronis & espresso martini with tequila repo was the best we've ever had. Calamari & hanger steak cooked to a perfect med rare +.. We are from Vegas and eat out a lot. We haven't had service like that in a long time. Thank you!

Went here in Sept for dinner. The ambiance was charming and even though we didn't sit outside, our spot along the outside edge of the reataurant was cozy and nice. I had the scallops dish with succotash. The succotash was delicious and had a depth of flavor on it that you rarely get to experience. On top of all that, our waiter was also great and a lot of fun. I'd definitely go back for another meal!

Disappointing. However, I may have a skewed view as I came here for a corporate work event as opposed to "regular" dining... My company held their annual "holiday party" here. There was a custom menu with 2-3 options to choose from for apps, entrees and dessert. I picked the clam chowder, marinated filet and chocolate mousse. The clam chowder was very bland and an oddly small portion size served in an equally-odd large bowl. The filet was drowning in red wine and had a peppercorn-like crust which tasted like rocks. It hurt my teeth to bite into it. At least it was cooked to a nice medium, even though I was not asked how I wanted it cooked. The potatoes on the side were extremely salty. And the chocolate mousse was nothing special. The best part was the small crunchy chocolate balls, which there was not enough of. The "regular" dining experience here may be different, however can't say I would recommend for an event :(

It was a beautiful 82-degree day, and our party of four was seated on the outside deck next to the river. The awning provided sufficient shade, and we were removed from most of the road noise that affects al fresco dining in the city. On the weekends, the Waterman Grill offers a limited brunch menu with about 10 entrees to choose from. We selected: Red Bridge Omelet - $16.00 (two diners selected this dish) RI mushroom, tomato, goat cheese Smoked Salmon Benedict - $18.00 Poached eggs, sauteed spinach, English muffin, hollandaise Eggs Benedict - $16.00 Poached eggs, Canadian bacon, English muffin, hollandaise It seemed to take quite some time for the dishes to appear even though it wasn't very busy. There was however a bridal shower happening on the lower level. When the meals arrived, there were mixed reactions. Both diners really enjoyed their Red Bridge Omelet's, one commented it was delicious. The eggs benedict entrees received less enthusiastic reviews. Once diner commented the English muffin was so tough, she couldn't cut it or take a bite out of it. I found my eggs were overcooked, the yolks beginning to harden toward hard boiled, and my dish was very salty. There was a choice of greens (lettuce) or potato for sides. We tried both, the greens were fine, it's difficult to get excited about some lettuce and dressing. The potatoes were tasty. Overall we enjoyed the venue, our waitress was excellent, and the omelets were very good. It's difficult to rate this dining experience, which was somewhere between three and four stars, so I'll rate it exclusively on my entrée, which I would not order again if dining here. When preparing Eggs Benedict, the eggs should cook about 3 to 4 minutes, ensuring the egg white is fully cooked but the yolk remains runny. Mine were not at all runny, they were too salty, and the muffin was chewy. So, I'm providing a three-star review for this visit.

Ask the Community - Waterman Grille

    Is there a dress code?

There were a variety of outfits worn by the people we sat near from shorts, pants, T-shirts, polos, etc. We ate lunch so it might be helpful to contact the restaurant if you have concerns.

    Is there parking?

Yes, I believe the lot that is about 1/4 mile away is their lot or general free parking. Easy to walk to and from.

    Are there gluten free options?

    Yes

    Are your cheeses pasteurized?

Yes, most of our cheeses are pasteurized although sometimes we have special cheese featured on a cheese plate that is not. If that is the case, your server would be able to let you know.

    Are there vegan options?

Yes! We have a delicious Roasted Cauliflower entree which consists of a cauliflower-almond puree, red quinoa, raisin emulsion and toasted almonds.

Am I able to bring in my own bottle?

A BYOB website says YES, but there is a $15 corkage fee.

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

It feels like her place in the best way -- warm, proud, hands-on. Pastries are legit. Super buttery, flaky enough to make a mess, clearly baked that morning. No sad, sitting-around-all-day vibes. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and that tomato jam needs to be illegal. Sweet, savory, slightly tangy -- it completely makes the sandwich. I kept trying to figure out how to recreate it at home. Not happening. Crispy chicken sandwich was properly seasoned and not dried out (why is that so hard for some places?). Fries were solid too -- crispy, not limp. And the kale salad with roasted chickpeas and chicken made me feel like I had my life together. Fresh, simple, and actually satisfying. It's one of those places you stumble into while traveling and then immediately start googling whether you can justify going back the next day.

Luckily we did make reservation for early dinner so we were able to find parking right away. We got there early so the restaurant wasn't open yet. We took a walk around the Westminster for a bit until the place was open. We were sat down right away. Inside is cozy with dim lights and open kitchen and some tables. They have few outside seating available as well. We started with some appetizer raw fish and combo as well as kohlrabi Caesar. We got black bass and a seasonal fish with combo that included lightly roasted oysters, shrimp and squid. All seafood was directly sourced from local port and fresh. Seafood appetizer was delicious. The caesar was interesting. I've never had kohlrabi but it reminded me of radish and it was tasty. Personally i would have preferred little less salt and olive oil so that flavor of the raw ingredient stand out more but was not too bad. My entree was the seafood risotto. Flavorful risotto with some seafood on top. Was a bit messy to eat because of the shells but was flavorful. The crab and shellfish itself was small and a bit underwhelming but the rice was rich and full of fish flavor. My mother had the cacio e Pepe which was good but she said that nothing comparable to one she had in Rome. I was not a huge fan of the thicker pasta but that's just is personal preference. Service was excellent but the table was a bit small and tight as we were very close to the next table and can hear what others are talking about so not a very privately setting. Overall i did like the place. Food and service were good. But it was not anything exceeding expectation and there were few things that detracted from our experience such as heavy seasonings, small dining space and etc... The price is quite expensive for the amount of food they serve as well. I think it's a good place for special occasions.

We all ordered food and gave the restaurant a phone number and they'll text you when your items are ready, generally about 10 or 15 minutes depending on how busy things are. Then you go pick up your tray and head back to your table. Note... don't forget your phone like I did. It's a great opportunity for grazing. If you wanna try a little bit here and there. I chose to have Mediterranean food from TOLIA. Appetizer was a nice three dip Mediterranean plate with pita chips $15 that were crunchy and good. For my entrée, I selected the minced lamp, kebabs over eggplant with pita and an added extra cucumber yogurt dip $29. This was all very tasty And costs about $50 with tip. A bit pricey for a self serve if you ask me. But that's the way things are going on these days. It was a nice time sitting around and talking, but then it got very crowded and very noisy and people were hovering by 5:30 to take our tables and even asked if we were getting up soon. I've been dying to try Dolores so I opted to have three different tacos after asking the girl at the register if she would recommend their chicken sandwich over the tacos. She told me that everything was good so I went with the ribeye taco, the shrimp taco and the mushroom taco. The ribeye taco was fantastic. There was quite a bit of ribeye in it and the perfect amount of spice. The shrimp taco flavor and the mushroom taco was just spicy with a little flavor. I'd have to say the ribeye was the best taco and it definitely wasn't worth what I spent on them. My wife had an eggplant Parm sandwich and it was cooked perfectly, looked delicious and I wish I had gotten that. Overall, I think Fred is worth the visit given the quality of the food, and I would give it a 4.5 rating if I could. I look forward to visiting again.
