I found this place by accident. I was hungry and wanted some tacos and this is my new go to place. This chips were way above average and the salsa is the best I have ever had. I also had the guacamole dip, and it was good, but the chips and salsa outclassed it I want to focus on the carne asada avenue tacos. By far the best I have ever had. This place didn't do much for me. The food was mediocre with single tortilla tacos and stale chips. Our server was pretend nice but under the surface genuinely seemed like he didn't want us there. Combined with okay food, just didn't hit it for me. The drinks tasted good, but three margaritas in I didn't even have the slightest buzz. Been here a few times before and it seems like they've changed the recipe for the salsa as it's not as good as when they first opened. I would also say that it does seem that everything is a little over salted, but it's still pretty good! We always seem to be able to get a seat quickly no matter what time we get there. My wife ordered a frozen marg and we were initially told that they weren't sure if the machine was going to work "like the McDonald's ice cream machine" so be prepared for that if you're wanting one of those. Wow this is not what I expected for a restaurant at the mall. The inside is huge with a large bar, plenty of seating, and a waiting area. There's also outdoor seating that is shaded. I didn't have a reservation so I had to wait 20 minutes. I got a drink at the bar while waiting so it wasn't too bad :) the bartender and waitress were both super sweet. I got the birria tacos which WOW - They were amazing. First birria tacos I've ever had too so I don't have much to compare it to. I also had the strawberry pineapple margarita which was very good. Here's me - slamming my head on the counter after taking a 12 y/o to Lulu... this place is on the corner of the plaza so good to either start or end your shopping excursion. Chicken taco salad was good, salsa is better than some around here. I can't speak to the cocktails but they had some decent Mezcal sipping options. Ok YUM! I really enjoyed Ancho & Agave. We met up with some friends and had a great time. We went on a Friday evening and I am very very glad we had reservations, it was quite busy! I had a raspberry lime margarita which was delicious, my friend had the prickly pear which was also good, but significantly stronger (not complaining, but just wanted to note that!). Loved the free chips and salsa, but our first round of chips were pretty thick and crunchy, and not really in a good way, they were almost chewy. The second round of chips was a lot better though! We also ordered some queso which was really tasty, but unfortunately a little cold when we got it. I ordered the birria quesadilla. i am still RAVING about it!!! It was so, so delicious!! This was our first time coming here. We were out at Scheel's looking for cleats and decided to eat here. We were sat right away with a party of 5. The space feels very upscale and is way bigger than we thought it would be. There is a large patio out front as well. The table had two bowls of chips and salsa dropped off quickly along with two pitchers of water. My wife ordered a Habanero Margarita which oddly came out before our pops. Our server was on top of the refills after that though. I ordered the Mesquite Chicken Enchiladas which came out in a green sauce with rice underneath. It was good, a hint of spice to it. My wife ordered the Chicken Burrito and didn't realize that the rice and beans would be in the burrito as opposed to be on the side of the plate. Not a big deal, just unexpected. It was a large burrito. Our younger kids got the kids meals, one quesadillas and one burrito. The burrito was tiny, it looked like it was made with a street taco shell. I would have expected a bigger burrito. It did come with fruit on the side. The service was good overall and no one left hungry. The kids did get the Churros with Ice Cream and it looked like it was legit vanilla bean and the churros were made fresh. Overall we had a good experience and would recommend trying it. read more

I wanted to love Ancho & Agave so much, but unfortunately we did not have the best experience in our inaugural visit. The decor is amazing with bright teal blues, rustic wood, and super cool, industrial style lighting, so that was a nice introduction when we walked in. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were very hard, like tooth-chippingly hard, but the salsa was super good. Next we ordered our drinks. I got a Dos Equis, and it was nice and cold. But our server told my husband they didn't have any soda due to the supplier losing power. When he asked what else they had that was non alcoholic, she only mentioned agua frescas, only for us to later see a table full of Jaritos (....sodas). So that was disappointing. The aqua fresca he received was pretty good but a little bit bland in flavor. When I hear blueberry and lemon, I definitely think flavorful, and not bland. Speaking of our server, she was also very dismissive, as she had a large table she was working too, and was focusing on them way more than our little two person table. The water we got on the side was tap water and it was served warm, which was not ideal. When we asked for ice waters they never came (and they definitely had ice because my husband's agua freca came with ice!) For our starters, we tried the Taquitos, and they were great and super flavorful. They were almost the size of a full meal if you order them for yourself and not as an app. The Queso dip was tasty but we were supposed to use the same chips we got for the salsa, so they were also very hard. We ended up dipping our taquitos in it instead, and that was amazing. With the Taquitos and Queso being so heavy, my husband only ordered sides for his meal. The Esquites (corn) he got were delicious, but the cilantro lime rice was flavorless and very very dry. I almost choked when I tried a bite of his rice. I had three Street Tacos for my entree. The Chicken Asada was great, with juicy chicken and sweet corn. The Barbacoa had meat that was good but a little dry overall. And the Gringo had pretty bland beef with a giant golf ball sized chunk in the middle that I gagged on. 1 out of 3 is not a great ratio. So with subpar service and so-so food, the cool decor and ambiance doesn't save this one, unfortunately. I really appreciated how accommodating they are for gluten-free diners--one of my friends has a severe intolerance and was able to enjoy her meal without any issues. I had the blackened salmon taco and pork taco with a twisted Rita, which was a frozen marg and sangria mix. I think that'll be my new go-to summer drink! It paired excellently with the chips and salsa and my tacos. The chips came out warm and the salsa hot and spicy! So good. The volume wasn't too bad considering how many people were there, but we were next to the kitchen so it upped the volume a bit. This was my second time here and I feel like the queso was different from my first visit. It was super watery, mid flavor, and not at all like I remembered. I probably won't be ordering this again, but the rest of the meal was great! I had the birria tacos and the meat was very soft and flavorful. Went here before a comedy show at the Funny Bone about 3 months ago. The ambiance is great! Seems like an authentic place you would see in a resort in Mexico. We started with the queso which I was a major fan of. I am not a huge coconut fan but my husband ordered the coconut shrimp which he really enjoyed the sauce on the bottom of it. My quesadilla entree was good. The only negative was the server, he basically was gone the entire time and we had to wave him down multiple times, even though we were maybe 1 of 6 tables in the entire restaurant. They do have indoor and outdoor seating which is nice and unusual in Nebraska. They are one of the few restaurants also in the strip of of the Village Pointe mall! We stopped by one night after running errands. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now. We were seated and greeted immediately by our server. He promptly took our drink and appetizer orders. After that he was hardly found unless we actively looked for him. Service wasn't the best, but the food made up for it. I think the food here is usually pretty good, though there's always something off. The margaritas, of all things, need improvement. For this visit, all of the items were oddly lukewarm. The server had gloves on which were hardly necessary. I was anxious to try a March feature, which was jalapeño corn chowder. A complete miss. Corn thrown in broth, a dash of milk, and a few bits of jalapeños. For an entree, I had mesquite-smoked chicken enchilada. It was spot on, looked great. The green chile sauce with poblano peppers was tasty. I just wish it was served warmer. My dining partner ordered Birria tacos and he loved them. Home run there. His dish also came with a side of black beans which were delicious and plentiful. We like this place but don't love it. Took my mom out to Ancho and Agave this evening. Great atmosphere...solid playlist going... recipe for success. I ordered the steak and chicken burrito and my wife ordered the steak asada enchilada. The food as, as always, was phenomenal. The chips were crunchy, their salsa is more smokey than the average Tex Mex joint, and the sauce on the burrito is super rich and flavorful. This is the only thing I've ever ordered here as I love how the chicken and steak go together with the rice, peppers, beans, and sauce. There were also big chunks of sautéed onions that added a fun pop of flavor. Awesome food. Have never been disappointed. Our waiter was at our table just about as soon as we sat down... and then we didn't see him again for a solid 20 minutes. Yes they were busy, but it wasn't packed. We were sat down without a reservation or wait. I ended up having to go get him to have our order put in. No harm no foul. We got our food pretty shortly after, and then didn't see our waiter again for probably another 20 minutes and had to ask a different waiter for another water carafe (they keep them on the table). He never actually came back to replace the empty water. Then it came time to pay which from getting the bill to actually being cashed out was just about another 20. I get that being a server is tough, but it got to be excessive. I will say, though, this is the only time I've been and haven't had a perfect experience. We will for sure be back. read more

I went to Ancho and Agave for my mom's birthday and had a variety of dishes to celebrate! We started off with 2 different margaritas: a spicy one and the Pina-Rita, which was recommended to my by Jordan, an exceptional server who helped us out even when we weren't her table (seated at the bar). The Habanero Margarita was a bit too spicy for my mom, and we recommend getting the habanero on the side and portioning it to your liking, but as someone with a high spice tolerance I had no problem handling the spice! The Pina-Rita was still the FAVORITE of the drinks as it's sweet and fruity and you don't taste much alcohol at all. For starters: my family ordered the guacamole selection and tried out the three themed ones: pina, senor hector, and the bacon and goat cheese. While the guacamole was good, there was not very many toppings for each flavor and we were not impressed by it. If you get guacamole, might as well stick with the classic! We also ordered the esquites - which everyone in my family disliked except for me! I personally thought the flavor was great and I love the texture of a cornmeal cake. There was a TON of sauce on it and the cake fell apart into it, making it mushy. As someone who is not picky on textures, this was not a problem for me, but it will not be everyone's favorite item on the menu. The burritos were HUGE portions and everyone who ordered one had leftovers! My brother tried the pork burrito, and personally did not enjoy it. He said there was too much rice and he didn't like the flavors of the pork. My mom ordered the gringo with cheese sauce and greatly enjoyed it! Flavorful, full of everything listed, and drenched in cheese, what could go wrong?! Only note she had was that she would order the cheese sauce on the side as there was a lot leftover in her dish when she was done. My dad ordered a chicken asada burrito and rated his food a 6/10. A bit above average, but not by much. He states that the flavors were more Smokey than spicy, and that the chicken was great but there was not enough of it and instead there was an over abundance of rice. He did enjoy the ranchero sauce on top! My brother ordered three street tacos: Kung pao, Nashville hot, and buffalo sweet honey. He ranked them as: Nashville Hot: hit the mark with flavor but the chicken was dry King Pao: great flavor, second favorite Buffalo Hot Honey: average and didn't impress Myself as a vegetarian, I tried out the sweet potato and cauliflower tacos. I definitely preferred the sweet potato and would stick to that one next time as I enjoyed the heartier potato texture and flavors to the cauliflower. Overall we did have a great time and our server Madi did a great job keeping up on drinks and timing with the meal! We would return, and maybe try new items on the menu. read more

I think this place has potential, and didn't realize how new this place was. I don't frequent the Village Pointe often enough to keep up. I say this because the wait times are not reasonable. I was with a larger group so I anticipated more than the usual (it was 90 minutes)...then a couple (literally two people) came in behind me and had the same wait time. I was like YIKES, 90 minutes for two people is insane. Once we were seated the sever (I think his name was Nick) was pleasant and I think he did okay for how busy it was. I also want to point out that this place gives food court vibes, which you can decide how you feel about that but that's what I thought. I did not pay enough attention to see what the vegan options were so there's that. Naturally, in a place like this we went with margs...probably should have gotten a flight but we all had something different so we did our own tasting. I went with the classic so we had a base line and I did not try the pineapple/coconut marg. I don't like coconut, but my friend said it was good so if you like piña colada and getting caught in the rain...that's your business. I ordered the (carnitas) enchilada and the taquitos...they were good. The chips and salsa was okay...a robust blended salsa that was vibrant and aromatic. They could be a little more generous with the crema and the guac needs a little more salt, but overall the interpretation of Mexican cuisine wasn't too bad, I wasn't wow'd but I wasn't disappointed either. Personally, I wouldn't go out of my way, but I might not say no if someone wanted to try this place...I would go for the margaritas. read more

The location is big, the furniture is nice, and the decor is classic. The service was great too. Seemed a little slow for a Sunday and there was a lot of families but I have nothing negative to say about the area or the service. But the food, yikes. The salsa had something in it that made it sweet...not what I like. I do enjoy a complimentary chips and salsa though! The jalapeño margarita had no kick to it and tasted sweet more than anything so I'm assuming it's the mix that they use. The queso tasted about as good as it looks here when it came out. It was almost the flavor of melted butter with a bit of cheese? The guac wasn't bad. The corn on the chicken asada taco looked like it had been sitting out a while. Nothing was special that we ordered. We thought the chips were the best part. I didn't care for the salsa, but I appreciated the originality of it though. (I'm glad it was free.) My fiancé ordered the carnitas enchiladas and the sauce tasted like lime and plastic. I ordered the gringo burrito bowl, and the seasoned taco meat tasted like the taco seasoning you get at the grocery store and make at home. The queso in it also tasted like Velveeta. I will say that the portion was good, but I could easily make the same taste at home, so it was not worth it to me. The presentation of the food was good and I liked the ambience. I was so happy to finally make it out to this place!! Walking in, I immediately felt a change in ambiance and it was so awesome! The decor was super cool and very Christmas-y! I tried to reserve a table ahead of time but they were booked so my friends and I waited about an hour to eat, but we were anticipating the wait. Since we waited awhile we were very hungry so immediately started with drinks and apps. They do serve free chips and salsa which were great but we also decided to try their queso which was amazing!! I was looking for a place to have my birthday brunch so I just googled brunch places. This restaurant came up I read the reviews they had really good reviews on this location. They had availability for a Sunday for 10 people. So everything worked out. There was plenty of parking in the village point area more so behind the restaurant and due to the fact that we went on earlier on a Sunday it was easier to find parking as well. The location itself is very beautiful. Plenty of lights. Also, the inside is very aesthetically pleasing very clean upon entry. Staff is welcoming. The server was really great. He was very attentive if we didn't like something he did not hesitate to take it back and switch it out for something else. He was very polite very quick. Also, I seen that the best thing to get on the menu was the steak tacos. I ordered the steak tacos with flour tortilla. You have the option of corn or flour and I love flour tortillas I also order the mac & cheese and to my surprise they have really good mac & cheese.
