I came in last Wednesday with a friend for a quick late night bite. For those folks who don't know, having the Anchor Bar in RR is a real treat as the Anchor Bar holds a very important place American food history, as the original New York location created the deep-fried, sauced delicacy that would become known as the Buffalo wing. As the hour we arrived was closer to closing time then opening, we opted just for beverages and a 10-piece wing to split. The wings were tasty, cooked well and my friend and I enjoying some live sports and lively music in the background. However, the lemon pepper rub was a bit drier than expected. *We ordered the sweet and spicy Korean sauce and the lemon pepper rub* The drinks were prepared as asked (sepc., I asked for an extra shot of Tito's with my Bloody Mary). In general, Anchor Bar's an O.G. on the chicken wing circuit.  Sure, there's better alternatives, but don't shun a joint who's meant so much to the scene. First time trying this place, and came on one of busiest days, "Texas vs Oklahoma" game. We got there before there about 45 min before game time, and bar was already full, so we sat at a table (*read on website they had raffles and prizes, but guess only in bar area). But, we had great service from Delaney! At first, she only had a couple tables, but got busier closer to game time. (*I know this is a restaurant too, but still surprised families brought young children here..other places to go). We settled in, told Delaney we would be ordering for awhile, since watching game. Started with appetizers of pretzel bites..ohhh soo good! But, the loaded tots, too much cheese, made them soggy. Husband got chicken ceasar salad, said was good..nice grilled chicken. I tried the boneless wings..Mango Habanero. Good flavoring, but did not like the breading. I know they are famous for their bone-in wings, but I did not want to get "messy" (*loved the hand washing station though before you hit restrooms for that reason). Table next us had family of 4 and devoured a 50 piece wing plate, so assume it was good. Then, tried their "All American burger", which read on menu is a combination of brisket and chuck. It was just "ok". Texas lost the game, but will be back, as great service (*Delaney was top of it with refills), and will try regular wings next time. read more

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our experience. We were really excited because the menu seemed to have lots of delicious options. All I wanted were good wings. We got the all meat pizza w Buffalo lemon pepper wings, Mac & cheese balls appetizer, Caesar salad w JERK wings, and two drinks. Would've been about $80 but we sent back the uneaten salad and jerkless wings. Mac and cheese balls seemed like Kraft but weren't terrible just not worth it. Caesar was just not good. The sauce was off. There was no jerk on the wings. Not sure there was even jerk in the building. The all meat wasn't bad I liked it. The Buffalo wings were really good thank goodness. Came here today for a Sunday Bills game! This place is super cool. Everyone was so nice and we felt right at home as soon as we got here. The wings were really good, Definitely get some! I didn't have any cocktails bc I was the DD, but the menu looked good. There was a such a fun atmosphere and so many bills fans. I wish it was closer to home! Stopped in for a quick beer and to check out this place and it surprised me some... Didn't know what to expect but really 54 TVs, you bet!! Turned out I hit Happy Hour with $2 off pints. Their menu is extensive with specialties of real Buffalo wings, a good selection of local craft beers, great hamburgers, I have my eye on the Hatch burger, etc., etc. They're in the old Logan's Road House location and created a fun atmosphere to include a dog-friendly deck. Came here for a Saturday college football watch party and was really happy w the experience. They open at 1045 on football days which is helpful and trust me people are lined up at the door. The drinks were strong and delicious and the food was a great variety. We tried the sample platter for appetizer which included fried pickles, fried macaroni cheese balls, and pizza logs. Heard a lot about the history of this place as a spin off of a famous, Buffalo football bar and reportedly the birth place of chicken wings. Had to try the wings, right? Well, unfortunately these weee really disappointing. They have a pretty good list of sauce flavor options but the wings seemed like standard, flash frozen restaurant food delivery products. For the price and the hype, not what I thought it was going to be. Decent table setup with plenty of TVs if you're looking to catch a game. Pretty standard. Service was good. Attentive to the table but not loitering over you. Prices were a little inflated - $53 for 20 wings and one order of fried pickles (no drinks). I been to the original anchor bar in Buffalo quite a few times and the wings wasn't prepared the same way they do in Buffalo new york. I don't why they charge more for less quality by a huge difference. Plus that establishment didn't have a lot of the stuff on the original menu in upstate nyc. Just wasn't impressed with the quality and the food menu and pretty sure anyone that been to the original spot would agree with me. read more

The inside has some familiarity and then it was revealed the building use to be a Texas Roadhouse. The overall service was good, it was lunch time and a little busy but not too much. I was a little shocked by the side salad. Seems pricey for just lettuce and tomatoes and it wasn't even fresh. The chicken strips were huge and fresh. I loved the garlic parm sauce and how one dip was a perfect coating for my bite. The bourbon bbq sauce was not good and left a lingering taste that wasn't pleasant. My sister and I have fallen in love with Anchor Bar! She doesn't eat chicken! Poor thing! I am a fan of wings! I love that all 5 visits, my wings were cooked perfectly! They are crispy and juicy! I usually order 10 flats: 5 dry ranch and 5 mild (extra on the side). The loaded tots are always wonderful with the perfect amount of cheese and other toppings! Service has been hit or miss. We always tip 20% or more. However, we do have our favorite waiter that is kind and accommodating. The spicy Moscow Mule (depending on the bartender) is amazing! We like it in a regular glass rimmed with Tajin! Don't pass this place up! All of the food offerings are amazing! read more

Absolute best wings around! We stopped in yesterday after hearing some great things and had a fantastic meal. Sauce was flavorful with the right amount of spice and the wings were crispy! The bartenders are very friendly and can make just about any cocktail you can imagine. I had been craving wings, heard about this place, and was excited to check it out. It was early dinner on Friday, so it wasn't too crowded. Since this was our first time, we ordered the appetizer Sampler Platter to try a variety of items. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the pizza logs. Who knew pizza toppings wrapped like an eggroll would be so tasty? The wings were perfection. They were all a good size with a decent amount of meat. They were crispy and sauced perfectly. The inside is very nice, and there is no shortage of TVs. This would be a great place to eat yummy food, sip on drinks, and catch a game. Finally got to try anchor bar on a Friday evening for happy hour, which is from 4 PM to 6 PM Monday through Friday. We got $5 pretzel bites and fried pickles and $8 mozzarella sticks as well as $2 off pints of beer. All of the appetizers were fried perfectly and very tasty and we shared a 10 piece order of bone in wings with half garlic Parmesan and half ranch dry rub. I thought the wings were perfectly cooked with crispy skin and juicy tender meat. I am very picky about wings to where I usually only make them myself at home and only Like getting wings from a couple of spots around town. I would definitely come back here for the happy hour specials and the wings and hopefully I can try some more items on their menu. read more

Carving wings and beer so I decided to try this place out as we had never tried it. The price of the wings is a little high but acceptable since everything on the wings went up. I ordered my traditional wings and my boyfriend got boneless wings. Then I notice fried pickle and could not resist ordering them as they are my favorite. The menu on the table only said "hand-breaded, pickle chips fried crispy, and served with out buffalo and ranch. Get them tossed in your favorite Anchor Bar dry rub for 75c!" Which sounds pretty good to us. Sadly when we tried it we found that it was sweet pickle and not the sour kind. The wings were just 3 stars for us. Nothing special. I got honey sriracha wings flavors When my friend got spicy bbq and garlic parmesan flavor. To be honest... none of the flavor that indicate that it will be spicy has no heat at all. We got the appetizer variety plate of fried macaroni and cheese with chutney dipping sauce, mozzarella sticks, fried pickles, and pizza rolls. I have to say the pizza rolls were the best! The others were good but the pizza roll flavors were just delicious. My husband had the jalapeño Margarita and it was a generous, flavorful drink for the $10 charged. We had never been but would definitely try the one in San Antonio where we live. The value for the food was appropriate. The other 15 people in our party with very happy with their selections. The wait staff was okay and service was not terrible. It was a birthday and they didn't sing or anything special for the person, who was turning 40, we were celebrating. The food was good. My friend and I shared their pepperoni pizza. We ordered drinks which overall were good. I say this because it seems like the quality of the mix vs alcohol was more on the juice side. But if you're a light drinker you'll be fine, ha. The only reason I gave it four stars was that when we sat down there was only one set of silverware at the table that sat four and we had to ask for plates. The waiter seemed new so I'm going to go with the thought that he was learning. And I did appreciate the manager coming by to check on everything. As our third (and only) choice for pizza, we ordered. Because we were hungry and we wanted pizza. The first place we called stopped taking orders 3 minutes earlier, the second place had a broken oven and was only selling slices. Anchor took our order. They were polite, our order was ready on time, the staff was super nice. Brought our fare home, ate. It was pizza. Nothing spectacular or even notable. But it was good, so there's that. Except around 3AM, when I woke up violently ill. 2 other people ate the same pizza and didn't have an issue. I, however, have been blessed with a persnickety stomach. And this pizza left me on the loo for over an hour in the middle of the night. So....If you have an iron gut? Go for it. Decided to try this new restaurant in Round Rock last night and was not disappointed. Our server, Derrick was kind and very attentive. We got the Mac & Cheese Balls which were quite good but fair warning the Honey Sriracha sauce that accompanies it will kick your butt (I'm not much for hot stuff). My daughter had a Strawberry Daiquiri which was deliciously fresh tasting and with no overwhelming alchohol flavor. For entrees we had a Small BBQ Chicken Pizza, 5 Garlic Parmesan Wings, Mac & Cheese Burger and lots of Ranch. My son wasn't expecting the "Bun" of the Mac & Cheese Burger to be made of a Mac & Cheese Patty. It was different but still good. The pizza was excellent and so were the wings. The wings were big and I feel like it was better than Pluckers (in my opinion). Their housemade ranch is so delicious so I suggest you get lots of it of you like ranch! Wing aficionados know that the Anchor Bar in Buffalo is considered to be the origin of buffalo wings, those tasty mini chicken legs and wings that now are seen across the country covered in any number of sauces. When I was working in western New York, my friends took me there and I enjoyed a great meal. Why I bring this up is that the name of this establishment has a certain cachet and implies that patrons can expect food quality and service similar to what they might find in Buffalo. Unfortunately, that assumption would be wrong. I recently ordered carryout wings and pizza from Anchor Bar while I was staying at a nearby hotel. When I arrived to pickup my order, it was left on a desk near the front door. I asked one of the desk staff if my order was completed and they pointed to the bundle across the way. It's really a poor way to serve a customer rather than go over, pick up the order and hand it to them. This would be a small point if the food was actually good. It was not. Pizza had decent flavor but the crust was completely limp, soaked through by the sauce and toppings that released juices into the flour. It had a very pasty taste, probably not too different than the box it came in. The wings unfortunately were very wet and dripping with sauce that had not baked onto the surface of the chicken. Overall the food and service was really poor. There are many other local restaurants and bars that provide better service. This was an expensive and disappointing waste of time and money that did a disservice to the reputation of the original Anchor Bar. Skip this place. read more
