This place literally just opened, and I'm telling you: best wings in Austin. It's not even close. They are crispy, huge, and delicious. This is a place I would definitely come and watch a game. Multiple tv's and plenty of wings. Their wings are large wings and not overly fatty. Nicely fried, I tried the medium and korean sauces. The medium is a little bit on the vinegary side and could use a little tang. The korean is nice and sweet with some heat. Also ordered a side of fries but nothing special about them. I ordered the hatch chile chicken mac and cheese. It was delicious! Nice and creamy with good amount of chicken and chiles, just wished the chiles were a we bit spicier. I would actually consider this restaurant to be a good acceptable 3 1/2 star rated restaurant based on the food alone, but since the service was so good today I'll bump it up half a star. I was looking for a decent lunch spot in the area and found the reviews on this restaurant to be convincing enough to try out. If you're into sports bars where there are flat screens virtually everywhere, then this may be for you. The craft beer selection here is decent but not extensive. The restaurant is spacious and there is plenty of seating as well as parking. Now as for the food, my wife had the chicken pecan salad and it looked better than it was. The salad itself literally looked and tasted like it came out of a bag with a good portion of chicken and candied pecans tossed in for looks. Unfortunately it was virtually entirely iceberg lettuce with a little red cabbage from a bag, there were no field greens. She did not send it back but we'd advise not choosing that menu choice. I decided to get the large meat lovers pizza so that I could take much of it home for later. It sure looked great, but after the second slice, the magic began to fade. It's not that it was bad, it was just a little lacking in flavor as well as character and the crust was a lttle too doughy. We also had a side of wings with the original sauce which were definitely worthwhile. At least everything was not overly salted. As many yelpers have already said "it's all about the wings" which we also agree are quite good. So like I said the food was OK, but the wow factor just was not there to bring us back again unless we were avid wing fans. read more

I've been wanting to try this place since it opened and finally had an opportunity to order through UberEats. It's just ok. We ordered the 10 piece wings (hot) and the appetizer sampler. The wings were really tangy and the perfect amount of heat. I actually liked them, but paying 20$ for 10 wings isn't necessary in Austin since there so many other comparable places. The sampler had fried Mac n cheese balls, fried mozzarella, loaded fries, and pizza egg rolls. The pizza rolls were ok. Not the type of rolls I've ever had, but they weren't bad. Same with the mozzarella bites. The mac n cheese balls weren't eaten. Some would probably like them, but it isn't my vibe. The fries were ok as well. Kinda on the dry side, but that's probably bc they were delivered. All in all, I'd like to try them again but in person rather than delivery and probably only for the wings. read more

Went there on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed. Went to college in upstate New York and hubby born and raised there. We have opinions on wings :) We got a burger and a side of wings. And beef on weck and side of wings. The wings are great. Not too saucy and still crispy. The perfect balance. Wings came with ranch dressing though. We dropped in yesterday afternoon after 3 PM to eat. We tried a couple of other places, but when we walked in, we turned around and walked out. We like to try new and different places. This was inviting when we walked through the door. The hostess greeted us warmly and sat us quickly. Our server was David and he was top notch. I felt like pizza, my hubby goes for mac n cheese and fries everytime. Pizza, pepperoni and mushroom. Yes, the pepperoni is curl and char, not burnt. The best around. Pizza was very good, not the very top of my list (I have a favorite since 2006) but near the top of my list. Hot, cheesy, what's not to love? Husband had mac n cheese with green chiles & breadcrumbs. Loaded fries, with queso and spicy stuff. I don't like spicy stuff so I just snuck a taste where I could. Mac was the bomb! We were there in happy hour, so I saw a $5 dish of mac n cheese balls. Panko-type breading and deep fried. Oh yum! Hubby loved his fries and mac n cheese. Might be his new favorite. Hubby liked my pizza and the cheese balls as well. If the fries were fresh cut, they would be the star, but they were still good. We didn't have anything alcoholic but they have an extensive beer list with 26 on tap. They also serve cans and bottles. Cocktail menu was pretty impressive as well. I didn't see desserts listed, so I don't know if they have any. I couldn't have stuffed another thing in the tummy. I took some of the pizza and one cheese ball home and ate them for lunch today. I have been wanting to try the place, since they took over another restaurant that I used to love. I just moved to Round Rock and excited to learn that they had a Anchor Bar restaurant. I love hot wings, and this is the restaurant that started it in Buffalo, I had high expectations. Unfortunately, that was not the case, I ordered 10 wings at 17.99(very small wings) which is on the very high side of wing orders. I ordered 5 Extreme heat and 5 cajun rub - they both were highly disappointing. There was not extra spice to the extreme heat and the cajun rub was lacking in flavor. If your whole reputation is about wings and you fail, then why are you here. I will not be going back and am only giving this 1 star because of the service. Another great restaurant and concept that decided to franchise and failed. read more

My family and I went in today around 4pm it wasn't that busy. I've been here twice now as I went to the original anchor bar in Buffalo, NY and was curious to see if it's similar. It's been a long time since I visited their flagship location and I got wings both times. I think their sides are way too small for what they are charging and they uncharge for extra sauces when they only give you 1 per order of 6 unless or server was not paying attention. Either way, the wings were disappointing...not as big as they should be and the sauces were not the most inspiring. I would say Buffalo wild wings is better. Our server, Brecken L. was a delight--and she was completely helpful with our navigation of the menu. She took the time to explain the dishes and the history of the Anchor Bar. We thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her and will definitely be back to sit at the bar again. Very similar to the original anchor bar in Buffalo only much newer of course. Very tasty food. Very tasty wings and beef on Weck, which is really hard to find in Texas! The only reason they get a four star instead of five star rating is that the food was cold. Very cold. The tots were really cold and we were there on a Friday at 11:30 before the lunch crowd arrived. Stopped in for lunch ready to try a new place! Order a 10 piece medium wings and garlic & parmesan fries. These wings are big, no joke! The good, service was great, the manager came by and checked up on us midway threw lunch and multiple servers made sure our drinks stayed full. I really liked the fries covered in one of there sauces. Not so good, my wings arrived cold and my the skin of the wings where soft, no crisp. I ate here today for the first time. It's very laid back and casual. I came around 5:48pm on a Thursday it wasn't busy at all. I got seated right away. The food was good too. The wings here are ok, as well as the pizza. For some reason, chicken wings are still crazy expensive, but that's the case nearly everywhere. The 10-wing combo here is $19.49. By comparison, Plucker's 10-wing combo is 26 cents more, while 10 wings at Hooters is $16.99 and at Hurricane Grill & Wings they're $17.49 (both sideless). The biggest problem I have with the Anchor Bar is their prices for draft beers. For instance - during supposed Happy Hour - Miller Lite was $8.00 and a Karbach Love Street was $9.50. Beer is not that expensive elsewhere in Round Rock, especially during Happy Hour. read more

Tried the traditional wings - garlic parm and spicy Korean bbq. Both were great. Side of tater tots they were crispy. Also added a side of jalapeño poppers which were tasty, spicy and flavorful. Overall disappointing the burger didn't have flavor and no spice with green Chile on it. The wings were habanero ranch with lime. I think they forgot the habanero when making the rub. The Wings are also was to expensive to buy them as your meal. They are the same size but are charging $8 more than Buffalo Wild Wings (whose flavor is much better). Anchor Bar's original buffalo wing sauce in medium heat is near perfection. It's the perfect balance of heat and savory goodness. I also tried the dry rub ranch wings. Also, outstanding and while usually my favorite they actually take 2nd place to the buffalo sauce here. The wings were cooked perfectly- a little crispy and yet each bite was still juicy. Service was friendly and the bar area is great for socializing. We've got a handful of good wing joints in Austin, but Anchor Bar is in the top tier. read more
