This place was amazing. My family came in last night and loved it so they brought the rest of us today. Knowing it was Father's Day and having 6 people we were prepared to wait but they found us a place pretty quickly. They were very honest with us about the wait for service and food. They were polite and so we were more than fine waiting. The owner came out and talked with us and he was super friendly. Explained how they are still working out all the kinks as they are still relatively new. Heather the bartender was just the best!!! Not only was she on top of our beers, but she was great with letting us try them and recommending great beers. She kept us updated about waits, despite having a full bar and a few tables. Awesome beer selection. Something for everyone, even those who say they don't drink beer. But unfortunately the food is mediocre at best, which is not a high bar to clear for pizza. Crust is flacid. Sauce tastes like it came out of a jar. Balsamic glaze made usually light margherita heavy and cloying. Drink up, but stick with bar food appetizers and forego the pizza. read more

Perfect lunch after a day at the aquarium! Seems fairly new but the pizza is great and has a surprisingly large draft beer list. The dill pickle fries were the star of the meal, they weren't overly battered and slightly spicy! We built our own pizzas and they were very accommodating to half and half toppings and when they realized they did don't have a veggie we wanted they were quick to come out and find a substitute. This place has good pizza and have had it several times. Service has been not great the last few times we ha e been there, but went back tonight. There were four table seated before us in the entire Restraraunt, and after nearly and hour, we had no appetizers or pizza. We patiently waited but went inside to check with the girl at the bar. She casually listened and to my complaint and continued to wait on other people. After not getting a response I went up and asked again about our order. She unapologetically told me the manager forgot to put the order in and it would be another 25 minutes while we waited with three kids ( one was 2 years old). I asked to speak to the manager, and was then told he was too busy to come out. I became I increasingly frustrated by this, and decided we weren't going to wait any longer. The waitress then continued to call me a f$cking a$$hole in a Restraraunt fulll of your d children and continued to talk about us to other patrons. I will never go again and will make sure everyone I know hears my experience. read more

Pizza and beer were fabulous and prices were reasonable. We had trouble finding decent quality pizza in Emerald Isle so this place was a breath of fresh air. They have some good craft beers on the menu. read more

I'm not one to write negative reviews, but this was not a good experience! Ordered two pizzas for carry-out. One was burnt, I mean CHARRED. Both pizzas had the most minimal amount of sauce I've ever seen on pizza. My husband waited 45 minutes for tasteless food that was barely edible. Judging from other reviews, this was out of character for Anchor, but we will not be returning. read more

Arrived at 8:45 and was told they close at 10, but were no longer taking food orders. It is the summer beach season and if you stop serving food prior to 8:45, you need to advertise that before guests waste their time driving to your establishment! This is my favorite place to grab a beer & a bite to eat on the island! Their bartenders are super friendly and I've always received excellent service. They have great food & a variety of craft beer on tap & in bottles. Their cheeseburger pizza is the best! & not to mention you can't beat the scenery, it's right on the water. read more

I've been to Anchor Drafthouse a couple of times and it is a hidden gem. What a great place to go after hitting the beach. This isnt the place to go if you're in a hurry at all; this is a place to stop and spend an hour relaxing with a good draft and good food. Their cheeseburger pizza is good, but I had their Greek pizza on the deck today with a Laughing Skull amber ale and it was perfection. Chelsea my waitress was efficient and friendly. I love stopping at this place and while busy it doesn't ever feel over crowded like many places on the islands and in morehead city. read more

The supreme pizza was fantastic. It was easily in my top 10 pies and likely top 5. The other 2 people at the table agreed. Went for the wings and stayed for the salad... The wings were baked... very soggy, not crispy at all. Sauce wasn't bad, but that is only part of the experience. Local beer was good, staff was pleasant, and place was pretty clean. Wouldn't recommend the wings... the pizzas looked good though. read more

Extreme disappointment. Food was overpriced and sadly, awful. We ordered pizza and wedge salad. The pizza was barely palatable, even our boys disliked pizza. Prefer to place order at table and not walk to bar. Cook was taking a smoke break between buildings as we waited for food. Great pizza and customer service. There was an issue with their breaker when we ordered our food. It caused our order to be forgotten..... However The owner(or manager) personally apologized refunded our order and gave us the food free of charge. I highly recommend this place. The beer selection is also great!!! read more

My fiancée and I went here for dinner. Being from Southern California we know a thing or two about pizza and craft beer. The pizza was great. Came out hot and tasted fresh. Nice selection of beer. This place is awesome! Came here for the first time to try it out and was very impressed. I usually have a difficult time choosing a beer that I like at specialty places such as this one, but they had so many options and the bartender immediately offered samples of anything we wanted. I chose the Lonerider Shotgun Betty after sampling a couple different choices. We ordered the mild buffalo ranch wings for an appetizer which were on point. The Margherita pizza was our main course and it was delicious as well! It was slightly crispy with a light fluffy crust, which was absolutely superb. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the owner was also present. They have indoor seating as well as out. I love the decor. Five stars for sure and we will definitely be back!! read more

Pizza was a true let down. Dough is either bought pre-made or is frozen. They were out of several toppings, beers, dressings and wing sauce. Mushrooms are from cans not fresh. Wings were decent but overpriced Super disappointing. Get a frozen pizza! read more

This is exactly what we were looking for on our last night in Atlantic Beach - some good pizza and some good beer. The pizza wasn't life changing, but was totally fine. Only a few critiques - the beer menu wasn't up-to-date (they told us that when we walked in) so the first 3 beers my husband ordered, they didn't have. Also, I get the paper plate vibe and ease, but it was nearly impossible to cut the pizza on them. We would definitely go back again though! read more

We went around 5pm on a Friday. Place was busy but we found a place to sit inside. They also offer a small deck overlooking the water. Orders are taken at the counter and they give you your drinks immediately. They gave us sodas in cans, bottled water due to their soda machine being out of order. All drinks seemed to be room temperature maybe because the restaurant was super stuffy. The only air conditioner in the place was a window unit near the ceiling. We ordered boneless wings with honey garlic sauce which was tasty. We also got the loaded fries which were undercooked and not very good. Mozzarella cheese sticks were also undercooked, cheese wasn't melted and had a grainy texture. We also chose a pepperoni pizza that had a layer of grease floating on top. It tasted ok enough but I could only stomach one piece. Seemed like they were having many issues this evening. Not sure if we'll give it another try. read more

We stumbled into Anchor and decided to do a "Pizza-off" between Anchor and two other pizza restaurants on the island. We did a straight stick Marguerite style for all three to be consistent. We had four families included in the competition - all who know their way around pizza. It was a bit of surprise, but every person immediately voted Anchor as the number best pizza. Comments from "just like New York, or New Jersey" style pizza. Chewy, but a little crusty, buttery cheese, light oil, tangy sauce. I grew up in New Jersey and lived in Italy for 3 years. This pizza is spectacular. Did not try anything else on the menu. Beer seems very reasonably priced at the bar. Great service and attitude with the staff. Great deck if you want to look at Bogue Sound while you eat. We will return any tine we want a pizza on the island. Definitely give it a try. read more

Great food and great staff as well. The staff can really make or break a dining experience and these guys really do an amazing job at creating an overall awesome time. So many delicious craft beers on draft it's hard to decide and the manager takes tome to talk about them and explain them. His attention to customers is what makes the difference. We've wanted to check this place out since they opened. My family of four along with my sister-in-law and niece had been out on the boat all day and we were worn out. The thought of ordering a couple of pizzas without having to drive to one end of the island or the other seemed like a great idea. We walk in at 8:50 and we were greeted by a young lady that stared at us like we were crazy. We weren't sure how things worked so we cut right to it - there's six of us, we're hungry, this place looks fun, tell us what to do. Seemingly overwhelmed at the site of six tired people, she unapologetically informs us that the kitchen is closed. Come again? Closed? At 8:50 PM on July 5th?! The busiest week of the year? A new business that has a sign outside proudly proclaiming it's a family friendly establishment closes the kitchen before 9:00 the week of July 4th?? It's a new business - they should be over prepared and ready to impress during the week of the 4th. Not even close. We walked out and drove down to Atlantic Station. Worked out fine - ended up getting great service at Michaelangelo's and what turned out to be the best pizza we've eaten there in the 20+ years we've been their customers. read more

By far the worst pizza I have ever eaten. I'm not being over dramatic when I say this- do not eat here it is not good. I don't think they used any fresh ingredients and the pizza crust appears to be frozen. I will say the beer was good until they tapped out. The service was very slow. There was also a large bucket of cigarette butts just sitting on the deck where the picnic tables were. Gross! We were dining with 4 adults and 6 kids. It took over 1.5 hours to finally get the last meal out to us. Nothing came out together. We would get a pizza and then another table that came in after us would get their food. There was no order in the way the food came out. Three of the kids ordered wings and only one order came out. The other 2 orders came out 45 minutes later! Why not throw all 3 orders in together?? It just didn't make sense. The waitress was nice and did give us 2 free beers for the inconvenience. It's a shame because it's right on the water and could be a nice place but with this caliber of food and service it will never last unless something changes. read more
