Not sure why we never tried this place before--I guess since we usually cook at home--but after 25+ years in the area, this was our first visit. Our daughter tried it a couple weeks ago and loved it, and she's a true Italian foodie, so we had to check it out. From the moment we walked in, the service was great. We were greeted right away, got fresh bread and salads quickly, and the food was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was very clean, everyone was friendly, and the Christmas music was a nice touch. Service was a little slow but once we got the wonderful bread we sort of forgot about service. They use their house made pizza dough and turn it into an amazing starter for the meal. I had Carbonara which was good, it's a difficult dish to master. My Mom had Fettuccine Alfredo and she loved it. Obviously family operated and that in itself makes it worth a return visit. I really like almost everything I've eaten at Anconna. The pizza is good, the Anconna salad with salmon added is outstanding, and the tiramisu is delicious. We've never had bad service here. The wait staff is attentive and spot-on when taking care of the guests. I'd say that this could be more of a "destination" restaurant if the inside were decorated more as a Mediterranean place with soft classical or Italian music playing. This isn't going to be the longest review I have done. To get straight to it, we have ordered pizzas from them a couple times now (for pick up). I have never eaten in the restaurant itself; YET! Both times the pizzas were DELICIOUS. The crust is between hand tossed and thin. Just enough sauce to give you the flavor but not so much it's oozing out every where. They offer several options and create your own. My favorite is: Ground sausage with green bell peppers We have also had the veggie, pepperoni, and ground hamburger, all which are good too! If you are near by and don't want to go all the way to Sulphur Springs or Emory to get pizza I would definitely say try them out. *** I do believe they are also BYOB if you are dining in. We were in town for a memorial service and we unknowingly tried various places to eat. We LOVE good Italian food but it's not that easy to find in every town. We were pleasantly surprised to run across Acona Italian Resteraunt. First, this is another restaurant converted from an old home. This gives it a very cozy, homey atmosphere. The wait staff is fast, friendly, and VERY attentive. Our glasses were never empty and they constantly checked on us. I had the chicken Alfredo and it had broccoli in it. It was terrific. Unlike most Italian places, this one had Texas flair. There was seasoning in the sauce. Very tasty. Good, crisp grilled chicken, and a lot of it. Firm broccoli , not mushy like many places. My wife had the SALMON Picada and she loved it. We've seen many proteins but not salmon. Nicely cooked capers, all in a wonderful lemon and white wine sauce. The food was awesome, but so was the staff. They worked as a team to make sure that everyone was taken care of. read more

We just had our first meal at the restaurant and it was fabulous!! We were pleased with our meals and generous portion sizes. My daughter was able to get a half portion meal which was nice. This is easily one of the best Italian restaurants in the Lake Fork area. Give them a visit when you are near Quitman. This place is legit!! We will definitely be back. read more
