I was very sick after I ate here I felt like I was poisoned. The staff is mean, rude,evil spirited. They treat customers so poorly! Bad business model and not a way to run your businesses If I could rate this a negative 100 stars I would. I'm rating so badly due to the food being the most disgusting Mexican food I've ever eaten and the staff being the rudest people I've ever encountered. I ordered a combo plate, a taco and a cheese enchilada. The taco was supposed to be grilled chicken. It arrived with dark colored meat inside. It was vile. The enchilada tasted like cold snot. It appeared to have melted cheese on it but when I took a bite it was ice cold, like it was hot at one time but had cooled off and now cold. The cheese / sauce it was covered in literally tasted like snot when you have the flu. I couldn't eat the enchilada it was so nasty. I explained to waitress I wasn't paying for the enchilada. The manager came to my table to ask me what exactly the issue was and I told him. Normally in a situation like this the manager apologizes and takes the item off the bill. This guy was short with me and argued how much I was WRONG!!! He kept saying that's not possible it was melted and hot. I said I'm the customer telling you it was ice cold when I took a bite. He was incredibly rude, unapologetic, argumentative. I said I'm not paying for the enchilada. I'll pay for my other food but this was unacceptable. He literally did something I've never heard or seen in my life. He said leave. I said I will never come here again. He said GOOD, GET OUT! I have a friend who lives locally and told her to never use this restaurant again. The absolute worst customer service and food. This place was busy and I noticed the staff was not nice to other incoming customers as well. People should not support a business that operates this way. When you treat customers the way the staff at this place does, I hope they lose all their customers and close. They don't deserve the business. read more

Something has happened to this place. It has been quite a while since my last visit. The two items I ordered were shockingly bad tasting - the quesabirria and Baja fish tacos. The first was sent back to be replaced with tacos that ended up being equally terrible. Overall, the food tasted like it had been made three days ago. The flavors were stale. Not one element on the plate tasted fresh (I'm not sure how you ruin cabbage). The food arrived at our table literally 3-4 minutes after the order was placed - a very, very bad omen. Been wanting to try this place for ages. Service was slow on a quiet Thursday afternoon, both for placing my order and waiting for my food. I ordered the daily special; mahi mahi tacos for $14.95 and a watermelon agua fresca ($2.95) It's hot inside (dread to think what it's like in the peak of summer) and seating is a little cramped. On the plus side, I enjoyed my agua fresca and the tacos, whilst overpriced, were tasty. I'll give them a second try but probably not for a while. read more

2 words: TOFU BURRITO (vegan friendly) Andale has been a favorite of ours for years. We initially found the faster take out location across the street, but more frequently enjoy the full restaurant (this location). There is plenty of seating both in and outside (lightly heated patio) to accommodate both small and large groups, and the staff couldn't be nicer. The menu is what I would call upscale traditional with options for everyone, including us vegans. There is also a fresh salsa bar, which I personally love (try the peanut sauce on the tofu burrito and thank me later). Perhaps my most favorite part of Andale's menu is the strong margarita section. Never have I had a horrible experience at Andele's until today. I ordered grilled tacos with avocado salsa. When they came, the fish was wet, soggy, and looked boiled rather than grilled. It smelled like fishy fish; it was gross. No avocado salsa. This was at the annex. The person who took the order snapped at me when I tried to pour water out of the near-empty tank, but refused to fill it until fifteen minutes later when we finally reminded her. Recently tried this place and immediately fell in love! The food is absolutely amazing. I actually went back the following day to have it again and try something new! So far I've had the breakfast bowl and veggie burrito. Both were delicious! I ended up ordering 25 burritos for a large group and they had it ready for me on time and the staff was so helpful! One of my go to spots! It's too bad this is the only one left not in an airport. I first had Andale when they were on Chestnut St in the Marina in San Francisco. They also closed their Palo Alto location on University Avenue, and the location at the San Francisco Centre Mall. So oddly enough there are two locations in Los Gatos and they are right across the street from each other. In the summertime the outdoor patio is the spot to be at. The food here is great. The other locations roasted chickens over hot wood, but not sure how they do it here. Great salsa bar and incredible margaritas. Really love this spot, but there is one thing I don't like and that's just a matter of principle.... they charge for Chips & Salsa! read more

I have been going to both Andale locations for about 19 years. I think they make THE best cheese enchilada! My order for the last 19 years has been: 1 cheese enchilada and instead of rice & beans, salad. I don't want rice & beans -- I want a small side salad. Yes, they do have the salad mixta but it's too big and costs more. Now Andale refuses to make this simple substitution. Walked back to restrooms to wash my hands and noticed a lot of flies buzzing around, that was gross but I thought we'll it's an outdoor patio, it's summer, maybe I shouldn't worry too much. Man, I miss Andale the way it used to be. Order at the counter, find a table, people-watch, great food, wonderful salsa bar. Everyone was friendly and happy, having a good time. It had great energy, was wonderfully casual ... it was our "go to" place, and we loved it. Employees were friendly and efficient. It was a hugely popular place. We used to eat here 2 or 3 times a week, and came religiously during the pandemic to order takeout. But at some point (not sure if late 2020 or early 2021?), the business model and the atmosphere changed. It no longer feels comfortable and casual; now you have to be seated and give your order to a waitperson. The staff is frequently distracted and rude. Orders are frequently inaccurate. The salsa bar is gone, and now the salsa they give you is extremely limited and very expensive. Portions (as of chips) went way down. Some of our favorite items on the old menu (looking at you, rotisserie chicken!) permanently disappeared. The freshly cooking meat on the grill disappeared. The wonderful energy we loved is just ... gone. For years, we were able to enter the restaurant from the parking lot in the back; then they started locking the gate so you had to walk a long way around -- and be forced to navigate the crowds on N. Santa Cruz -- to get to the entrance off the street. They put a passcode lock on the bathroom so now you have to announce to your server that you need to go in order to get the code. Prices shot up (as they have everywhere) -- inflation is never welcome, of course, paying more for less feels especially not great when your favorite restaurant feels like such a shell of its formerly wonderful self. Andale just doesn't feel like the same place anymore. Honestly, the loss of the Andale we knew and loved is one of the greatest casualties for us personally of the pandemic. I know that sounds stupid -- the loss of a favorite restaurant is nothing compared to lives and jobs -- but this place was really special to us. We'd hoped the changes would be temporary -- but have just about lost hope at this point. Not sure if management/ownership changed, or if all the changes were pandemic cost-cutting measures? Either way, we wish we could go back in time, see our old friends behind the counter, and have lunch again at what used to be our favorite place. read more

I showed up and went to the bathroom and was contacted by three separate employees treating me like I was a homeless person..... I said I am joining friends for lunch and am using the restroom. Andale is a nice taqueria style Mexican restaurant in downtown LG. You go up to the cashier to order your food, find a seat, and wait to be served. The service can be hit or miss. Some days the cashiers can be slow as molasses, or I have to walk around all over the place looking for a busser to clean off a table. I wouldn't go as far as saying that Andale's has the best Mexican food or the most authentic, but I can count on the food tasting great on account of the fresh, quality ingredients used. Honestly, I could just go to Andale's for the chips and salsa. The chips are addictive, and I'll often be nearly full from eating the chips before I get to my main course. The chips come out with pico de gallo, but you can't go wrong with exploring different flavors at the salsa bar. My favorites are the peanut salsa and roasted tomato salsa. When my boyfriend and I come here, we typically split a 2 entree plate of enchilada and chile relleno, which also comes out with pinto beans and rice. I love chile relleno, so it's obviously my entree of the meal. Things I like about the chile relleno at Andale's are its good, light red sauce and how it's stuffed pretty well with cheese. My one major grievance about Andale's is that NOTHING there is made spicy. Even the spiciest salsa tastes mild to me. read more

I've been coming here for 20 years. I brought 3 friends here a few weeks ago on a Thursday night. Sit down orders now come with a waiter. Our waiter was new and didn't understand our cocktail orders (which were printed on the menu) and forgot about our appetizers. Although I ordered my usual favorite, Chili Relleno, I was surprisingly disappointed. The chiles were not cooked enough and the sauce didn't taste the same. I used to really love this place with its amazing assortment of exotic salsas and fire roasted chicken. Sadly, it has gone downhill...is there a new owner? The food is still great but those orange colored salsas were one of the best things about Andale and they no longer have them. The other salsas they serve are delicious, as are the chips, but they do not give us enough of the salsa with our chips and salsa (which are not free like at other Mexican restaurants). Also, their entrees used to include rice AND beans, but our enchiladas were served with rice only, no beans included. Why skimp out on such an affordable side dish?? When I asked the server if the dish no longer comes with beans, she didn't speak English and looked worried and upset, then walked over to another server and had her come help us. So we asked this new server if it is no longer included, and she said no it's not. So we just said we'd like to order a side of beans each, and she looked kind of put out and stormed off to get our beans. (We were friendly about it!) So then, not long after that, she brings out our beans and we are super thankful and smiling about it..however, now the manager guy comes up to our table and asks us "so, what's the problem?" UGH... We never said a thing to warrant this drama....but anyway, we told the manager everything is fine. It's not like we wanna get these gals in trouble. Aside from the unwarranted drama from the servers, the bigger issue is, why are these folks too cheap to include beans with the rice like most Mexican restaurants? We are paying like $15 for these entrees. Also, the server stumbled on a few other things like not remembering to bring my friend her drink, and bringing her the wrong drink when she did bring it out. Delicious food - tried burrito, cheese enchilada and freshly squeezed orange juice and it sure was tasty and lives up to expectation. They have a very nice salsa bar. Just a strange experience , and not something I've experienced before at Andale's.. walked up to the door with my son, asked for a table inside , was then taken to the outside seating ( front not back) .. reminded the receiver/seater guy i would prefer inside as stated, he asked if patio would be ok. I said that would be perfect .. followed him inside and then he just dumps the menus down on the first table inside the restaurant .. I remind him that he offered and we accepted the patio .. then he says it's closed.. I look in the back and see at least 8 people sitting , eating/drinking on separate tables ! I point that out to him and he then tells me it's closing for an hour .. grabbed my son and walked out. I let him get back to the girl he was chatting up at the door. Again.. never had a bad experience before at andale's But it pissed me off enough to leave a review here. read more

Absolutely love the food. The food is always fresh and I never have to wait forever to get my food that I ordered. The food is truly authentic Mexican food. All the way from their tacos to their salads and drinks. It really sets a new standard for Mexican cuisine! The managers are always walking the floor and making sure everything is above standards. I am providing 1 star because the food was good and the wait staff was ok. But the experience was terrible...we were greeted by a manager when we arrived at 8 PM to tell us in a very aggressive way that they we closing at 8:30 PM (their listing in google states they close at 9PM) that the kitchec was closing and we had 5 minutes to decide if we wanted to be sat or not....really???? This is the way to treat a customer???? So we were rushed through the ordering process, gobbled our food down paid and left. Why did we even sit you may ask? We went there because it was recommended, we were traveling and really did not know where else to go - so we accepted the "kind and polite" invite... But then the next day as we are checking in at the airport I realize I left my credit card at the place the night before...so I look for the number to call to see if they have it and it turns out they do not answer the phone, so my only option was to send them an email --- really????? A restaurant that does not answer the phone - apparently according to the message, not even to place orders....much less to help a customer how may have an issue like a lost credit card!!!! Excellent Mexican food with a great atmosphere (especially the patio at the back). The grilled vegetable burrito was the best vegetarian burrito I ever had.
