If you are looking for an above average Thai experience in the East Bay but don't want to pay the super inflated prices, then definitely give "Andaman Thai" a try. They actually have three (3) locations in the Bay Area; Walnut Creek, Danville, and the location I am reviewing, San Ramon. This particular location opened its doors back in early-2018 and has had very positive feedback up to the present day. Located in an upscale strip mall on the corner of Bollinger Canyon Rd & Alcosta Blvd in the Marketplace Shopping Center in San Ramon, this place is just a few minutes from Highway 680. Parking was fairly easy to find, even during our visit which was on Saturday 8/8/2026 at around 7:15pm. Even though my lady and I didn't make reservations, we were seated immediately even with as busy as it was. The interior dining area is small but offers ample space complete with various booths and tables for small and larger guests. The beige walls with the brown ceilings and hanging lights really gave the overall appearance a cozy yet upscale one. Keep in mind that this place can get loud (mainly during the busy nights and weekends) so if you're looking for a quiet, romantic dining experience, this might not be your best option. As for their menu, they offer a very respectable number of choices. This includes appetizers, soups, salads, noodles, fried rice, curry dishes, and main entrées. Many of the traditional Thai favorites are found here as well as tofu dishes (for the vegans) and seafood dishes (for the pescatarians). As for our entrées, my lady went with their "Pad See Ew" which included pan-fried thick rice noodles with beef (as her protein), Chinese broccoli and eggs in sweet black soy sauce. I went with their "Seafood Hot Plate" which offered prawns, scallops, calamari, fish and mussels with peppercorn, bell pepper, onions, ginger root and basil sauteed in a spicy sweet chili paste sauce. We both split a side of rice and for drinks, I went with a "Thai Iced Tea" while she ordered a diet soda. I will say that for it being a Saturday evening, our food came out in less than 10 minutes! That's a huge plus considering how hungry we both were. As for our dishes, hers was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of sweet, salty, and savory in the noodles, veggies, eggs, and beef. Mine though was a bit on the spicy side. I've had my fair share of Thai dishes over the past few decades, and this seafood hot plate took "hot" to a whole other level of spicy. I also wanted to add that there wasn't a whole abundance of seafood as I found way more bell peppers and onions than anything else. However, service was top notch while the prices were lower than many other Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. All in all, I am giving "Andaman Thai" an above average four-star rating. While her dish was excellent with a decent amount of meat, mine was just average at-best with not enough seafood. This place does have fairly decent hours of operation being open seven days a week from 11am-2:30pm (for lunch) and 5-9pm (for dinner). The size of the dishes were decent! I expected smaller tbh. Only thing I felt like needed to be bigger was the Roti and Curry. Need more roti bread for 12.95 appetizer. Came here with a group of 8 people. We were feasting. Roti and curry was good. Papaya salad needed a bit more flavor. Chicken skewers tasted just as expected. Pho Tak - decent size. Lots of noodles and toppings. Pad Thai - okayyy. pad see eew - This tasted good. Garlic whole fish - I think needed to be crispier but I definitely did enjoy the flavor on this. Came here on a Saturday evening with a group of friends for dinner and got seated right away. The decor is cute and it's a relatively casual spot. We shared chicken skewers, roti with curry, eggplant and veggies stir fry, pad Thai, drunken noodles, and pumpkin curry with coconut rice. First time visit this Thai restaurant. I saw the vibe on Yelp looks good so we drive 1 hour to there for a friend gathering. But the vibe turn bad after half way of our dinner. While we all enjoying our chat, the servers interrupt our conversation so many times. They keep coming for clean up table, take away dishes, and even ask if we need to-go box when we never even ask for the bill yet! This make us feel like they really rush us out, even though there are still lot of empty tables inside. We only stay there less than 1.5 hours for dinner from 6 to 7:15. I don't think they welcome customer to stay inside and talk, they just want you eat the food and go. The food in general is just average, but the way of servers really screw up the whole night. Finally got a chance to go!! Waiter recommended Tofu Madness since we liked spicy stuff and were eating vegetarian. Just from the look I could tell that this was unlike any other tofu I've ever eaten (I've had ALOT of Thai food). The tofu resembled paneer and tasted very nice and juicy and you could not tell that it was tofu and not paneer. And this was one of the rare dishes where black pepper didn't overpower the dish and you could still taste other flavors within. Also got Tofu Drunken Noodle with this and they were very nice as well. I got and LOVED the Lychee Iced Tea and sipped it every time I felt the tofu spice hitting for the nice cooling effect. Tried three different dishes. Everything on the menu looked good. Prices were reasonable, service was pleasant and very attentive. All the dishes were flavorful and there is a hot sauce caddy if you want to add some heat or some sour to your dish. The place is small, but tables turned over regularly and there was a decent flow. The food came out really fast. They were also doing a lot of togo orders. Overall it was a nice meal, good size portions for a fair price. Andaman is one of our local Thai places. They are family owned and on the San Ramon Marketplace. Today we had iced chai coffee which we like better than chai tea. We order items with minimal heat when possible. The Papaya salad had a nice flavor without being too spicy. The lemongrass chicken, nicely prepared, had the standard Thai spices we like. Servers are also friendly and helpful. Inside the restaurant is nicely laid out and pleasant. Today at noon the restaurant was packed and some were using the outside tables. Came here on a packed Friday night at the San Ramon location. Parking can be tough but we found it was easier to find a spot on the Trader Joe's side of the lot. We had a group of 3 and ordered a bunch of food to share. Even though it was busy, our server was very attentive and took the time to explain the menu to us. The portions are no joke, we were barely able to finish everything. Here is what we got: Pineapple Fried Rice: Definitely try this if you come here. It comes served in a real pineapple which is a nice touch and tastes amazing. Yellow Chicken Curry: This was so so good. They use dark meat chicken so it was super juicy and tender, not dry at all. Drunken Noodle with Beef: Solid flavor and good amount of beef. Fried Calamari: Crispy and a good starter. I raised a family in San Ramon and we had a favorite Thai restaurant which was next to Safeway but they are gone. So....i had the Thai Fried rice and Pad Thai with chicken. WOW!!! Great food and amazing service - just the best experience! My husband and I came with our 11 month old when visiting the west coast. Our server Apple took great care of us, giving spice recommendations, and ensuring the vegetables were steamed enough that our daughter could eat them safely. There was also a male server who came over and offered to wipe down the high chair for me. I enjoyed probably the best Pad Thai I've found and my husband loved his drunken noodles. We left raving about not only the food, but the whole experience and vibe (& the prices were reasonable too!). Went an hour before closing on a Friday night, and the place was busssy, however we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. The restaurant is very clean and has plenty of inside and outdoor seating. The menu is easy to go through and we ended up ordering Roti and curry Papaya salad Pad see eew with chicken Grilled whole fish Mango sticky rice The food was delicious and nicely presented definitely coming back here again to try more of their food. Hidden gem! Tucked away in the busy parking lot of TJ's there's an amazing spot for incredible Thai food! Andaman is the place to go! To be honest, we're Thai rookies and played it safe and everything we ordered was a 10/10! The only downside is it's a small place and with the lunch crowd it was VERY loud inside. I tried Andaman for the first time yesterday for lunch and overall enjoyed the meal. I came with 3 other friends and we all ordered separate dishes. The restaurant is not too big and could seat maybe 6-8 tables. The decor is nice and clean and the ambiance was casual. The service was a bit slow and they kept forgetting items that we asked for so we did need to remind them several times before getting all the items we needed. We came during lunch and it was semi busy with 70% of the tables full. I ordered a tofu pad thai and my friend ordered the thai basil and Yen Ta Fo noodle soup. I enjoyed the pad thai but it was a bit sweet for my palate. The serving size was quite large and can probably be shared between two people with smaller appetites. My friend enjoyed her noodle soup and said it had good flavor but the calamari rings were overcooked and rubbery. The serving size was large and could be shared between two. For desert we got the mango sticky rice and fried bananas with ice cream. Both were delicious and amazing. I loved the mango sticky rice. Some of the best pad sew ew we've had recently and I really enjoyed their pumpkin curry, which was served in a hallowed out japanese squash. I asked them to pack up the squash in addition to our leftovers and roasted it when I got home to add to the curry, thought there was waaay more pumpkin than curry by the time all was said and done. Every part of this place- minus the understandable wait for a table and food- was Heaven! There are a plethora of vegetarian friendly dishes here that I honestly liked just as much as non-veggie dishes. The tofu surprised everyone at my table with how well marinated and crispy it was. Didn't even taste like tofu if I'm being honest! For meat dishes, we ordered the spicy pork belly and a drunken noodle with chicken. The pork belly is now a must order every time I return: it was so crispy and flavorful. I also need to note that the spice level, while spicy, is very flavorful spice, and not punchy painful spice. The menus are all these little books with thick pages that make it feel expensive and upscale despite reasonable ($18ish per plate) prices. My only comment on ambiance was that the night we went, the lights were SO bright that we actively noticed it during our meal. This might be a one off based on whoever controls the lights though. They have a few locations but this one was in the Market Place in San Ramon. Plenty of parking. And attentive service without being pushy. Place was small and intimate but clean and modern. My friend had one of the noodle soups that was spicy but not overwhelmingly so. She said it was warm and comforting. I had on of the pan friend noodles with a sweeter sauce and veggies and beef and it was such a great combo of flavors and textures. We also had shrimp rolls with peanut sauce which was fresh and yummy. We ran around $60 so manageable.
