This hits more than I remember--the beef noodle soup reminds me of a Northern style pho a tad actually, the curry is a nice blend of sweet and savory, the fish skin is crispy, pineapple fried rice offers a flavorful fried rice variation, and pad see ew is always reliable-ish. Nevertheless, the nostalgia of coming here and getting takeout still hits hard. Tastes like your typical comfort Thai food. I've been here many times since I was in elementary/middle school. I recommend eating in, if possible, because takeout is significantly worse. I helped my parents order different stuff, making it surprisingly really good and better than usual. We always get the pineapple fried rice, which is always good, especially with seafood. We normally get the drunken noodles, which is normally one of my favorites, but we switched to the pad see ew today, which was actually better in my opinion. We tried the beef stew noodle soup for the first time, which was good--nice broth and meat was tender. We also tried garlic whole fish, which was just okay, but I liked the skin a lot. I also recommend getting the grilled marinated pork, which has great lemongrass flavor and great char, and is one of my favorites. I love thai food. Ive been here twice. The customer service is excellent. I was helped immediately. I ordered to go but the location is absolutely beautiful and they play r&b music which is nice. I ordered the basil chicken which is fire. I also ordered the chicken fried rice. I tried the shrimp and chicken rolls which were a hit as well. I like the sister restaurant in San Ramon. That's why I want to give this place a try. The server was very friendly and helpful. The food that we ordered were just fine compared to the quality from the San Ramon sister restaurant. It was so quiet on a Saturday afternoon. Only three tables were occupied inside and outdoor. Wateriest Tom Kha soup I've seen. And I've tried quite a few. 11th Tiger does an amazing job! I strained the veggies and kept the broth in the fridge overnight. Of course some separation is expected. A few weeks ago, I didn't feel like cooking dinner. Too tired to drive further than BHP after tennis. Was craving Thai food but even SR seemed was too far. Remembered that Similan was related to Andaman Thai in SR, where I usually go. Ordered take out and for some reason that night Cashew Chicken was at the forefront of my mind when I saw it in pictures. Note: I've never ordered this dish before EVER in a Thai Restaurant but ever since that fateful night, my life has been changed forever. Instant fan! A few days later I went back AGAIN to pick up take out because I was craving it again. Went back the following week to take Hubs to dine in. So much fresh and hot out of the kitchen. A few nights ago, wanted something hot in my stomach, being only high 50s outside. So we ended up here again on a Friday night after tennis practice. Wow. Tom Kha soup. Spring rolls. Pad see ew. And ofc, cashew chicken. Still my favorite. They also have young coconut that is my daughter's favorite l. Their mango sticky rice is delish bc the rice is actually warm and perfectly sweetened. This used to be called Similan and the food was pretty consistent and spot on but can't reallyt say the same about consistency in quality of food, whe it s good its great or same to when I try cooking thai food at home not a great. I still see many of the older staff but going there is not a regular thing any more whenever we crave for some thai food. read more

Andaman fka Similan Thai is the rare restaurant that continues to deliver year after year. It has been awhile since our last visit to Similan Thai Cuisine. I forgot how much we liked the decor. Today, we ordered what felt like the entire restaurant. We were feeling adventurous and asked our wonderful server, Apple, to help order authentic dishes that are cooked Thai style and not Thai-American style. Oh boy! Get ready for your tastebuds to be awakened by the flavors. We were very happy with our orders, and were so glad to find out that Similan is a family owned and run restaurant. After shopping at Draegers, we were looking for a very local place to eat, and Yelp came through again with this gem. It's located between a Chinese place and an Indian place, so an Asian restaurant trifecta. There's a nice physical bar, but they only serve wine and beer. Pity. The menu was like a souvenir hardcover picture book, and each page had great images of the dishes. The mint spring rolls sounded great, so we ordered them, plus a pad see ew for The Wife, and a seafood hot plate (hold the calamari), that was served sizzling, just like fajitas. The rolls were tasty, not too minty. She likes the pad see ew very much, and noted that the Chinese broccoli made it more bitter than usual, but that was ok. My seafood hot plate was FABULOUS!! Pretty spicy, but enough to hide the flavor. The sauce was tangy and perfect, and the fish, shrimp, scallops and mussels were just the right quantities, along with red and green pepper slices and onion. Knowing I couldn't reheat this well, I was forced to finish it there. Oh well! For dessert, I had fried ice cream, which was Mexican standard but quite nice, while she had fried banana with ice cream, the perfect thing for her. I drank two glasses of pinot grigio at $13 per glass, nice pours. There were soooo many other dishes we wanted to try, so we'll be back. My new favorite Thai place in Danville! Well, I just got a take out order of chicken pad thai and green curry with tofu. Everything was delicious and hot. I called in my order and went to pick it up. I like doing that because I dislike 3rd parties bringing me cold food then getting hefty tips. Rather give a tip to the restaurant making the good food. I have ordered takeout 3 times. The first time they forgot utensils and straws for the thai tea. Second time everything was great. Third time the bbq chicken was soo dry and hard. Lunch combo is a great deal and worth it! You get a ton of food, 2 items, salad, soup and rice. The thai iced tea is 10/10 Thai bbq chicken was perfectly juicy and floral the 2 out of the 3 times. 10/10 I ordered it every time.
