This place is super cute and has nice music playing in the background. Our server was attentive but not overbearing, and the food was good! We got Gobi Manchurian for an appetizer and it was lovely. I also enjoyed my aloo gobi and mango lassi. I would eat here again!

About a 1-1.5: Finding Indian lunch buffets nowadays seems to be a bit difficult to find, so when we saw the high reviews of Grace of India and that they offer a daily lunch buffet, we decided to make the trip to try them out. When we arrived, they had just opened; they had almost put all the items at the buffet station. The selection seemed of a decent variety, so we were excited. Unfortunately, everything that was placed at the buffet were cold - it seemed as if they were just taken out of the fridge and placed at the stations to just come to room temperature. The only items we thought were good were the chicken kabobs (which were seasoned well and savory, albeit super dry), the mini samosas (which were super spicy), and the freshly-baked buttery naan (that was brought out to the table). The curries, the lentils, and the veggies at the buffet were all just gloopy, watered-down/thin, and bland. The mango laasi was super sour and almost tasted putrid; the 'hot' chai was not hot in the least, as it was at room temperature. Staff were friendly, but not really engaging. I guess I wasn't surprised that no other patrons came in during the entirety of our visit. Plenty of indoor dining space, and ample parking in the plaza. +cold items at buffet +ample parking

Absolutely delicious! Portion sizes are good and I like that you can indicate your comfortability level with spice. I've only ordered take out, but the food was ready very quickly! Definitely a go-to for comfort food!

Unfortunately the lamb/goat curries are mostly bones, as usual.

Good for American palate food like butter chicken or chicken tikka masala. The rest, like goat, lamb, or byriani is blnd and nothing but bones.

Outstanding Indian cuisine! My husband is from Mumbai and I have traveled to India several times so we are discerning foodies when it comes to Indian restaurants. We ordered Paneer Tikka for an appetizer and I enjoyed the Mulligatawny soup (best I've ever had!). Lamb Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala were our entrees and everything was delicious and beautifully presented. The server was friendly and very attentive, and the restaurant was pleasantly decorated and clean. We loved our dining experience here and will most definitely visit again!

The chicken is tender and soft. The interior is dimly lit and more soothing. The staff is attentive and plentiful. There are several people constantly walking around that can help you. The choices on the buffet has a good variety and they have name plates that tell you if it is vegetarian or not. I enjoyed my experience here and plan to come back here.

The hara bhara appetizer was a large portion and came with chana masala. The malai kofta was fresh, tasty, hot, and a good portion for the price. The paneer makhani was also a great dish with a delicious creamy sauce and also hot and fresh. Each came with a bowl of white basmati rice. We asked for spicy and medium spicy but both were fairly UN-spicy. They told me they don't have chicken tikka masala as white meat, which is how it's supposed to be prepared, and it's only available bone-in. All of their chicken dishes are dark meat, which is not the Indian way, but they're likely catering to non-South Asians who prefer thigh or leg. The service was intermittent, and our main server disappeared and never came back after taking our order. They took some time refilling water glasses or even checking in on our needs so some improvement could be had. Restaurant clientele was about 10% South Asian, 90% not. The ambiance was pleasant. Payment system is via Toast. There is patio dining.

It's not fancy on the outside, but the food and service were just first rate. We started out with a delicious mango lassi and pretty good chai hot tea, then launched into an apps round of chicken momos and veggie samosas. I was very excited to see they served momos, as we've both been big fans at other Himalayan restaurants for a few years; these were just as good, being light dumplings with a savory filling and served with that deeply flavored yellow chutney sauce. The samosas were better than most we've had, with a lighter envelope and less potatoes in the filling. Included were the sweet dark chutney and the green cilantro-based chutney. We also tried the rosemary garlic naan and the onion kulcha, both fresh, soft and hot. Our mains were the lamb saag and Madras chicken curry, both excellent -- the lamb tender in a creamy thick spinach sauce, and the chicken curry big chunks of white meat in a memorable savory stew. We didn't specify spice levels, and the curry was zippy but perfectly palatable for both of us. This was a lot of food, and we continued to enjoy it as leftovers for the next few days. For all of this, our bill came to only about $75 before tip. The restaurant was quiet when we were there, with one other large table occupied. The service was quick and attentive. The atmosphere is spare but clean. We'll be back!

They offer Indian with a bit of Indo-Chinese cuisine, but I stuck with straight Indian on this occasion. Upon opening my takeout bag, I was greeted by a fully flavored channa masala, a mouthwatering naan with grated chili, and a heck of a lot of flash-fried spinach. It was plenty of food for the money, interesting, and delicious. A little on the salty side, and frankly the spinach wore on me by the end and it would have been better shared or saved for longer than I had. The menu wasn't hugely broad, but they got the basics right.

The samosas were crispy and full with filling and the sauces were delicious. The coconut curry was fantastic, but I didn't realize it came with a side of rice, so I ordered another side of rice. The description of the entree could've been clearer in that sense. The crispy garlic cauliflower wasn't exactly crispy, but it was delicious and might've been due to the delivery time. The rosemary garlic naan was incredible. I wouldn't order from here again without ordering the naan! I ordered delivery with Grubhub and it was very fast. I'm unsure about the vibes at the actual restaurant, but I'm sincerely doubting it's a sit down establishment based on other reviews and knowing the small strip mall set up where it's located.

What happened? Previous 5 Star!…read more We discovered this place midway through Covid, or very early 2021z We went with our friends, well they took us, and it became our favorite Indian cuisine in the area. The staff was incredible. Waiter was personable and brought us small free appetizer, or a desert, chai, etc. he even remembered us, and that's saying a lot. We went half a dozen times and always had outstanding food and a great time. The chef would always come out and ask how we liked our food. We'd leave a great tip and genuinely have a great experience with great food. And always getting something new for the app or desert. Every time I go I get the same dish. Chicken Vindaloo. The past two time we have went, the service has been dreadfully slow. First time I thought it was a fluke, and noticed the waiter didn't seem to know what was going on (at all) but our food was still good. No visit from anyone in the kitchen staff or friendly chatting though. Then tonight... what happened here. Is there new management? Was all the main staff out? We got in at 6:45, our friends getting there at 6:30. They asked for a booth and the waiter got flustered so said a table was fine. As we were sitting down with them the waiter came by and we asked for some water. It never came. Well it did some time later. There was a family of 4, 2, and our party of 4. Right after us was a party of 2, and 6. At 7:00 we got our water. At 7:15 we placed our order. Around 7:20 the party of 2 walked out. During this time food was trickling to the two tables ahead of us. We got the impression that the only waiter, had never waited before, had a mild language barrier, didn't know the menu, now how to use the desk computer. He came to our table twice to ask about what drinks we ordered. At around 7:40 we got our cocktails, and was one short. Glass of wine, Long Island, and a mojito. Missed the mojito, but they brought it to us as well as the second Long Island we asked for. Not sure if we got a mojito or margarita but it was fine. Long islands were in very small cups. Nothing had ice, not even the water. We received our Spinach Chaat and another app at 7:50 if I were to guess. In the past the Chaat has been incredible. Google crunchy spinach chaat and that's pretty much what we got. Tonight it was in a bowl, and completely different. It was more of a salad, with what I would describe as an Asian Rick cracker type noodle in it. It was good. But 110% different. Not what we expected. To me it didn't feel authentic and like it was premade. I'm thinking those crackers that you get from Chinese restaurants with your meal in those bags. The greasy ones. Our meals came at around 8 and again, different. Wow it's been over an hour! Our bread was moist but good. Didn't mop up any sauce though since it was so buttery. The rice, which we normally would get 1-2 large bowls for the table, we each got a small bowl, maybe 1 cup of rice if that. The rice was watery and didn't have the herbal flavor we were use to. I want to say there use to be peas in the rice. Tonight it was just rice. Mine had some clumps of rice in it, like you get from rice that's been in the fridge, had water added and then re-zapped. My vindaloo, which I was accustomed to being a lovely deep red in color, large chunks of chicken, and potatoes, was a curry orange in color. A Chick-fil-A spicy nugget had more spice. No potatoes and I counted 8 pieces of chicken. I didn't say anything as our server was so dreadfully slow. Nothing against the guy, he was very polite, apologized every time he came to the table (don't do this my friend, once is enough), but we didn't want to get stuck their longer. My wife said there was no spice In hers either. We got our to go boxes, which were the styrofoam boxes with 3 sections in it. Before they had those tin containers with plastic lids. I loaded my few spoons of rice and my Vindaloo curry contraption into the container, 99% sure it would spill in the car but my wife somehow kept it together, knowing I'd have to make some rice in the instapot for the leftovers, since they didn't give us any extra rice.... They use to just give you a full container or rice to go. We ended up leaving at 8:45. Remember we got there at 6:45. We each had one drink. And 2 refills of water. The spinach chaat had pre-made noodles(?) in it, with a salad of the rest on top. Our meals were lacking spice, and ingredients. The rice was bland and reheated. I love rice. I could live off it. This was not good rice. And it took 2 hours to have a meal that should have taken an hour. I'm not sure if this place is under new management, or what has happened. But this has happened twice now, so I'm not sure we will be going back until we hear things improve. And I hate to say that since it's 15min away from our house, and the experience gave it more then five stars before.

I took her out for lunch to help make up for the missed turkey (take that any way you want, sports fans). I gave her a choice of sushi or Indian buffet; she chose Taj Mahal. Taj has been around for many years but somehow I've missed it. I heard it has a nice buffet (a decent value for $19 at lunch). When we arrived there were very few patrons so server said we had our pick of seats. We sat at a booth near the bar, near the buffet. Seats were ratty but in better shape than other booths. We grabbed plates at the bar and went for food - which was really tired and dried out even though it was was well before lunchtime ended. Server said she would bring pans of rice, butter chicken, saag, and naan so we tried what was available. Samosas were cold inside but filling was tasty; chickpeas that came with it were really good but again, cold. Onion pakoras were great, but some chutneys would have been nice. Goat curry was tasty, dry-spiced potatoes were good and had enough heat to make them interesting, but everything else was middle-of-then-road. When the fresh dishes came out we replaced out plates and tried again. Butter chicken and saag were really, really good, rice was really crunchy (undercooked) and quickly dried out under the warming lamps, and naan was good when very fresh but quickly got crunchy. We did not go back for more and skipped the salad/dessert choices. Frederick has a bunch of really good Indian (and Pakistani and Afghani) restaurants (mmmmm, Mint Room, Tulip Grill, and Mayako) so I would not put Taj Mahal anywhere the top of my list of similar places.
