A very good experience at Bawarchi Indian Cuisine. I stumbled upon this place and am glad I did. The curries are absolutely delicious. The dishes seem to be authentic and you can taste every bit of seasoning including cardamom, which is a signature flavor and aroma of a good curry. The gravy is thick and on both visits the texture was consistent. I was very impressed with the goat curry. I wanted to try the Kadai Goat, however it was not available on my visit. The food seems to be prepared to order as on both of my visits the host advised of a 30 mins wait to which they used every minute of it. The samosas were delicious and so was the Chicken Lollipop. The takeout quality seems to be as good as the dine-in. Overall, a very good experience and I will visit again when in the Frederick area. read more

Placed an order via grubhub which told us it would be ready in 45 minutes and instead took 2 hours! The staff seemed totally lost. Grubhub even called them to find out what was going on. On the plus side, the food was fresh and well prepared. I'm no stranger to Indian food, but there was more spice than usual. read more

I went there at 5:00pm when they are supposed to be open . An employee came and told me to wait 15 minutes outside because the staff was still eating. I gave it two stars because the food was good but the service was terrible! We got there we clearly look lost because we have never been there. No one gives you a menu or how to order. We sit at the table until we finally decide to get our own menus and ask how to order. They bring the food but no plates to eat from. We have to ask for plates! We ate with serving spoons because they never gave us silverware and we were tired of asking. Finally we ask for to go containers and it took forever to get them even with an empty restaurant. Had a taste for some Indian cuisine decided to look up a place and I was lead to this family oriented Indian spot that was close by. I thought the service was amazing. I was squinting reading the menu because I left my glasses in the car. The cashier handed me a menu and offered to read the menu to me. I am SO happy I discovered this place!! I was actually craving Chipotle today, but I saw from the windows that the line was long so I just kept driving and noticed a new biryani place had opened up. There aren't that many Indian restaurants in Frederick, so I was really excited to try this place and am happy to say that I was not disappointed!! Firstly, they have a variety of biryani options. I went for the chiken tikka biryani and was really satisfied. The chicken itself was cooked really well and was full of flavor. It was not dry at all. In fact, they also gave an orange chutney (not sure what it was made of) and yogurt with the biryani- both of which were great and enhanced the taste even more. I've been craving biryani for days and am so happy that this place lived up to my expectations. I also got gobi Manchurian and butter chicken. I was intrigued when I got home and opened the Manchurian container because the color of the Manchurian was light orange/ brownish, and most of the Gobi Manchurian I've had at other places is bright orange. However, when I took the first bite I was blown away. It was super delicious, and the spice level was perfect. As for the butter chicken, my dad was raving about it - which is saying a lot because it's pretty hard to please him when it comes to Indian food. I tried some of the butter chicken myself and loved how creamy it was and that it was not too sweet. I also tried their mango lassi while I was waiting for the rest of the food and felt it was a perfect balance of sweet and tangy. I also felt that the prices were fair for the amount they gave. I had a full plate of biryani for dinner, and still have plenty left for tomorrow's lunch. Overall, definitely impressed with this place! I think this will be my family's new go-to place. If you live in the Frederick area, I would highly recommend checking it out. (I was really hungry and the food was so good, that I only remembered to take pictures half way into eating my dinner, so I only have pictures of the chicken biryani and butter chicken LOL.) read more

First off, let me start off by saying the food was excellent when we ate it a day later. Food: 5 stars Service: 3 stars My wife and I went here yesterday for a quick bite before seeing a movie thinking it was a middling restaurant between fast food and full on service as we've attended similar in the Gaithersburg area. After placing our order, we had about 40 minutes until our movie showing, there was a gentlemen sitting down waiting on an order when we arrived, and while we were waiting on our food the staff told him his food would be ready in 45 minutes, here began concern and I asked the person that took our order what the ETA would be for our food because we had Me: "a movie to catch in 35 minutes." Staff: "I'm very sorry sir these items take time." Me: "How late are you open, our movie probably ends around 9:30." Staff: We close at 9:30, you could pick it up tomorrow sir." Me: "Ehh, sorry, don't live in the area, could we just get a refund then?" Staff. "I'm sorry sir." Me: "Is that..a no?" Staff: "*winces* I'm sorry sir." Me: "Well did they start cooking it yet?" Staff: "No sir." Me: "Did they start preparing the food yet?" Staff: "No sir." Me: "Okay, so why can't you refund the money if nothing has been started or prepped yet?" Staff: "I'm sorry let me talk to my manager sir" Me: "Okay thank you." He said a few minutes later that they were working on it now and they could make it to go, which I did not want to pay premium prices to eat the food the next day, but I obliged as it was the only alternative at this point. The food finally came out 5 minutes after we planned to leave by, and we had zero time to eat, as we were already late for the movie. I simply don't understand the refusal to provide the refund. It made zero sense to me. The place was crawling with to go orders as well, so I'm sure they have plenty of money coming in and busy enough to not need our additional order. The staff were polite, and the food was PHENOMENAL, I don't want to discredit the food in the last bit, but I think it is time to dig deeper into the refund policy. read more

We stopped by for dinner one night as our neighbor had told us about this place. It is a biryani place so we probably should have gotten a biryani but, well; we didnt. There were multiple people getting biryani as we were waiting on our food and they even sold out of certain ones. We ended up getting chicken vindaloo and saag paneer. Best Naan bread I've ever had! I've tried many different Indian food restaurants in my lifetime, but this one definitely takes the cake when it comes to the Naan bread. I ordered butter chicken, butter Naan, and it came with rice. The butter chicken was flavorful and was perfect for dipping the bread into. The bread was very buttery, crispy, and fluffy. This is a spot right on Buckeystown Pike in a big new shopping center. The reviews stating it can take awhile are true it is generally at least a 30-minute wait. When I went in to grab my to-go order there were four or five other groups waiting. There isn't a ton of space to sit inside so the word "packed" for dining in will probably rarely be used. This is the first Indian spot I have tried some moving into the area and it was pretty good. Some of the spots I have written about previously have out done this place but I wouldn't say this spot isn't mention worthy. They are newer and the prices weren't hateful. Come in and give it a try. The menu is decently large and a bonus I found here is they have family size meals for around $30. I thought that was a creative addition. read more

Solid, simple, but tasty Indian food. No frills here when you walk in; the focus is on the food and the food was good enough for us to warrant a return trip. We got the samosa chaat, the veg dum biryani, and the Szechuan veg noodles. We did have to wait for a bit but the wait was worth it, overall. The samosa chaat was piping hot with fresh chole and that perfect mix of spicy and tangy with some crunch thrown in from onions and sev -- totally on point. Veg dum biryani was also hot and flavorful with an excellent salan to go on top. My only minor gripe was the lack of variety in the vegetables; veg biryani is basically pulao, just elevated, and the lackluster veggies in our portion made it...pulao. Still, the rice was perfectly cooked and the spice level was exactly right so I'm willing to try another biryani next time. Szechuan noodles were the hit of the night -- perfectly cooked noodles, spicy sauce but not overwhelming, and the light crunch from scallions. Husband strongly recommended the chicken dum biryani as it comes with a good chicken to rice ratio and the chicken isn't dry or tasteless. Spice level was perfect in each dish for my family. My husband and I came here for lunch. He had the vegetarian lunch special and I had the goat lunch special. Everything was super yummy and portions were generous. My husband's fried cauliflower was tender and almost meat-like. My chicken was really crispy. They also had Thumbs up and pistachio milk. I portion on the food was cold, and the butter chicken really didn't taste that good. The Naam was probably from Costco and was microwaved. I don't recommend eating Indian food here.
