I was in the area to play golf. After golf, I looked at Yelp for some South Indian restaurants in the Frederick area and this came up. As I walked in, I noticed the restaurant was busy. I waited a bit in the reception area to get seated. One of the restaurant workers asked me to take any available seat. They have a barcode to scan and order. Unfortunately, they don't have good Verizon service. I had to wait another 10 mins to get their WiFi info to place my order. However, the guy working said he could take my order. I ordered chicken 65 and ghee roast. I am a huge dosa fan. I also ordered Taj lager and some water. I got the chicken 65 first. I had to wait another 15 mins to get my beer and water. Ghee roast arrived 10 mins later. The food was very authentic and delicious. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great. Ambiance is decent. I wish the servers were trained to run the service. They would do much better. I noticed on the table, one of the gentlemen was going towards the bar or the kitchen area and kept reminding them about water and utensils. read more

Came across this Indian restaurant while visiting a Hindu temple in Ijamsville and tried two types of dosas-Mysore masala and onion chili dosa. Both were made to perfection with a touch of spice, just how we like it. The sambar and chutneys were quite flavorful and complemented the dosas well. For the butter chicken the give maybe 4-5 pieces of chicken and all sauce. Not a fan of the bread either. After listening to my parents in law rave about this local Monrovia spot, I had to check it out. How quickly can I order again! Suvai lived up to the hype and beyond. Serving up one of the widest spectrum's of Indian cuisine that I've seen in awhile, Suvai offers samplings of both North and Indian staples, with ample options for meat eaters and vegetarians like myself, alike. Ordering online was quick and easy, and my order was ready for pick-up without complication roughly 25min later. I wanted to sample a few dishes so ordered the Mysore Masala Dosa and Paneer Chettinadu. There are few places in and around Baltimore City that are dishing out dosas, so this one was a treat! Layered with complex, savory masala spice and melt in your mouth mildly spiced potatoes, the dosa dough was cooked to slightly spongy pancake interior meets wafer crispy exterior perfection. The perfect vehicle for dipping into the various chutneys and sauces that come with the dish. The Paneer Chettinadu was equal parts standout. The sauce was the exact medium spice level that I like, adding a little kick but not taking away from the delicately balanced flavor. The paneer had that ideal slightly chewy but creamy texture. Great local Indian food! They have a large restaurant with tons of room, but I always get takeout. Dubai is obviously known for their biriyanis, and they are the star of the show! If you've never had one, this is the place to try them! I'm a big paneer fan, and their paneer biriyani is amazing and always has generous portions. Sometimes their dishes can be too spicy for me so I always get American level spice. I've ordered takeout a few times and never had any issues with the orders. Only saw one server in the main dining and lobby area the entire time. He switched the music to rap music with vulgar language and turned the volume up loud after we sat down. Multiple tables were covered with trash and spills when we came in and when the server wiped them down the crumbs and trash were left on the floor and not swept up. He kept mumbling when he was speaking to us and we had to correct him multiple times because he kept repeating the wrong thing back to us. The spice levels of our food were all wrong. Automatic 18% gratuity was added to our check despite the menu saying it was only added to groups of more than 5. Either they're under new ownership or they stopped paying people to write them positive reviews on here. It was totally empty for Father's Day. read more

My new go to place for Indian food after Grace of India fell from its lofty position due to them not caring about the food they offer to the customer. Here so far everything has been perfect. My wife's chicken dishes have been sublime. Non of the tough chicken from Grace, here it's juicy, tender and well spiced. My vegetarian dishes have been perfect. Well seasoned, the veggies have been cut perfectly. Non of the chop a vegetable in half and calm it done. Service is friendly, rarely have I had the door of a take out opened for me on arrival. I have have ordered takeout from here and dined in. Both times my partner and I greatly enjoyed our food! The most recent visit I was able to order the tofu saag vegan and it had a nice, surprising smokey flavor. We also got the dosa - delicious with good chutneys and sambar. My partner enjoyed the aloo gobi. The service was decent. It seems like they are taking feedback about spice levels because they asked if the spice level was to our liking (which it was). Ordered the chicken Manchurian and chilly chicken. Both looked and tasted pretty much the same except few bell peppers in chilly chicken. It tasted okay but not the authentic chilli chicken I remember eating in India. Butter chicken was okay with few chicken pieces and lot of gravy. The best thing I thought I ate was the garlic naan. My second time eating at Suvai and it was exceptional once again. Everything from the service to the food to the ambiance was top notch. Ankit was our server and his service was absolutely amazing. He constantly checked up on us to make sure we had everything we needed and everything was good. We had a critique about the Paneer tikka masala and the Veg Manchurian and we let Ankit know after we were done but he was more than happy to replace them on the spot so that was very much appreciated. I ordered the Indonesian wings, and the waiter suggested the daily special- chicken something that I did not catch- went with his suggestion we also ordered butter chicken and the garlic naan. They will ask you what spiciness level for all dishes. We said spicy for everything except a milder butter chicken. The paneer was incredibly addictive. Perfect spice, crunchy outsides, and came with a great green sauce- maybe a mix of yogurt with mint/cilantro and very mild chili? Then the special came out. If you have no idea what to get, show them the pic of the drumsticks. Huge, meat perfectly cooked, nice kick, and more green sauce. Butter chicken was great, even in mild. Comes with rice, nice large chunks of tender chicken. The garlic naan e out hot, buttery, and delicious. We could not eat it all- got half the butter chicken, a drumstick, and the chicken wrap small plate to go. They gave us fresh sauces. A welcome addition to the Monrovia community! I gave this place four stars overall, but I'll rate each aspect of it separately. Food - 4 stars *Let me say that we absolutely loved our food with the exception of the portion of meat you get for the price. For $15 dollars or so, you should be getting a lot more than 6 or 7 pieces of meat in a meal. *The curry and dum ka are to die for. I will warn you that even if you ask for mild, you're more than likely going to need about three glasses of water to eat. Hopefully they figure out that mild means, almost no spice whatsoever, soon. *We've also ordered the naan and the mango lassi, both of which everyone loved. Menu - 3 stars *Like most families with children, we have a picky eater. She's only 8 so hopefully she'll become less picky over time. The first time we went, we asked if they would make sauteed chicken with salt and pepper for her and the answer was "no". I suggested that they come up with a kid's menu in order for families to dine their together once they open their dining room. Unfortunately, without that we will not be dining here as much as we would want to. I'm sure that other families have the same issue. Sad that they can't seem to accommodate a simple request. He just smiled and said "Here you go". I asked him again why he didn't call and now my food wasn't hot. He smiled and said "See you next time". Frustrating. Perhaps a language barrier but it seems that he was more intent to shoot the shit than to do his job. Atmosphere - Undecided *Can't say as of yet because they have yet to open their dining room. (It is pretty spicy so err on the low side or go American spice if you're sensitive.) But so many good options. We love the Baby corn 65, any Biriyani, Dum Ka, the onion pakora (which is actually really small pieces compared to the larger clumps. We usually get another restaurants, but we end up, sprinkling it on top of our other entrées.) Con: The servings of meat are a little small for the price. The customer service lacks a bit. (For instance I ordered online for a 530 pick up and got a text at 4:58 that it was ready. We ordered takeout, so this is a food review only. Simosas were fried perfectly and delicious, loved the sauces that come with them. For entrées we ordered chicken korma and goat curry. Medium spice was just right for someone who likes very spicy, but not mouth-on-fire hot. If you can't handle very spicy, try mild. Both tasted good, but were a little too oily. We also ordered lamb biriyani which was very good. Our order also included Naan, you get 2 big pieces for $4. Overall very good, but I would cut back on the amount of oil used in the curries.
