It took a couple hours to finally check in. (Very frustrating when you take off work/leave early to check in & start your vacay. The pool says it's heated, but it's colder than the lake. The cabins have no AC. The beds are horrible in most of the cabins (between our group, we've stayed in all of them), with the exception of cabin 8, which has been updated with nicer amenities and beds. If you end up getting COVID, don't say anything!!! My cousin had Covid, they said she couldn't go anymore, and refused to give any kind of refund/discount. She had to pay her stay in full, and could not go :( Upside: location location location. You are a close drive to the lake.

We usually call ahead or go on the website to reserve but now I found them on VRBO. The resort has a pool, and the general store is a very short walk to pick up ice and most basic necessities. Many great walks/hikes in the area just up the road you can hike all the way to Pinecrest and the dam.

Rented a motor boat from the marina and spent 4 hours fishing at the river inlet. As soon as we dropped our lines, the bites never stopped! Came back with 5 keepers . (Free tip: the dam and the river inlet are the prime boat fishing spots) weather was manageable, light rain/sleet off and on over our 3 days there. The Marina staff, and the front office staff, and Serene Bean coffee stand were absolutely amazing! (Emphasis on all of the Marina Staff, Lori and team) We felt like we found a secret gem in the mountains. Everything is within walking distance of our on-site motel, and the lake was breathtaking. Since we went after Memorial Day it was very quiet and peaceful. Thank you all so much for hosting, we will be back again soon!

Our boys had a great time at the Snow Play that we paid for out of our own pockets (btw that was Leland Snow Play's last open weekend this season). At the expense of public safety, this lady wouldn't even consider a refund. That shows you the level of compassion and understanding that I experienced from this situation. Also, I just saw that she temporarily lowered the cabin rate by $40/night after we left when the state-wide orders went into effect. Nice touch there. this is why I don't recommend booking from her. Our fun family experience was definitely tainted by her pettiness.

Decided to try to learn how to ski after all these…read moreyears, the beginner group lesson at dodge was my 1st lesson, and since having taken more classes at other resorts, I can say it was the most informative lesson(and least expensive) I had. It gave me the confidence, tips and tricks to pick skiing up at my first lesson! I am not athletic by any means, but learning at dodge has now provided me with a hobby I have loved for 8 years now-I still repeat tricks they taught me, and have been enjoying skiing tremendously since my very 1st lesson there. For adults and children alike-it's the best place to learn for beginners, not too challenging and has amazing instructors.

To be honest, the pictures online do not do justice to show the amount of space we had. I LOVED all the labels and how easy it made everything (TVs, refrigerator, garbage, etc.) to use. All of the outlets and modernization in that aspect were awesome. We all had so much fun in the game room and many hours were spent there with our kids. Our son, 8, loves all things video games and it was a treat to show him games we used to play when we were kids. The walk to the lake was easy. And, oh man, that little lake. What an ideal spot for our family. Our youngest is 3 and we felt so comfortable in that environment for all of our kids. We met your neighbor, Doug, and had some good chats with him. What a guy! Your binder with information was heavily used. We managed to get out and about a little bit: Columbia for gold panning, Lyons Reservoir, Fraser Flats, Pinecrest, my husband even made it way up Sonora Pass for a hike in the snow, while we soaked in the 80 degree weather. Unfortunately our fishing skills are lacking and we didn't catch dinner, but we still had fun trying. I will (and already have) share your rental with anyone looking and we hope to be back in the future. Our kids did not want to come home...we took them to Kauai last year and they didn't say that when we left there. Thanks for making such a magical place available to the masses. We had our family reunion in the cabin last week and thoroughly enjoyed it! It definitely has a…read more"cabin" feel with forest in the back yard and deer sightings a couple of times on the property. We loved the little lake just a short walk away. Bring something to float on for a thoroughly relaxing experience! Our family is the outdoor type, but I was surprised how often we gravitated down to the arcade room for some fun competition. The cabin was clean, and everyone said that their beds were comfortable. Everything we needed to cook for a crowd was available including 2 coffee pots to accommodate our caffeine and decaf preferences at the same time. The owner, Eric, did a great job communicating with us and making sure that everything was going well. Neighbors were friendly, too. If you're expecting a luxury hotel with granite counter tops, this is not the place to come. If you want a relaxing, comfortable, and peaceful place to vacation with access to amazing outdoor activities, I definitely recommend this. That being said, let me tell you a few gems that we experienced while we were there... We drove up to Pine Crest Lake (probably about 20-25 minute drive from the cabin) and spent several hours hiking around the lake. There's a nice beach and picnic area, too, if you're not into the hiking. It's a beautiful area that reminded me a lot of Tahoe. We also went to Big Trees (an hour drive from the cabin). The North Grove of the park is impressive, I'm sure, but we drove down to the less travelled South Grove and had a great day of hiking while viewing some amazing trees (up to 25 feet diameter). A third adventure I would highly recommend is the Natural Bridges trail (about half way to Big Trees or 30 min from the cabin). The trail is about 1 mile long and takes you to a stream that goes through a cave. Bring your floaties so that you can float into the cave! What a treat! And a stop in the old gold mining town of Columbia for ice cream on the way home topped the day off. Great family vacation spot! Thanks, Eric!

I visited on a Friday with my 5-year-old, and it was a fantastic experience. One of the best things about this place is the free parking and the reduced weekday pricing. When we went, there were only about a dozen families, so we had plenty of space to enjoy ourselves. I can imagine it gets much busier on weekends and holidays. The staff was super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. I also appreciated that the lodge had food available--we had chicken tenders and a Philly cheesesteak, both of which were solid options. The food was by no means amazing but it was nice to have an option. The lodge itself is a nice spot to warm up, especially with the cozy fireplace. Plus, they sell essentials like gloves and boots in case you need them. My only con is reception is bad and there isn't wifi but in many ways that is probably a good thing so I could focus on spending time with my kid instead of being on the phone. The three-hour drive was totally worth it! I made it there in a Subaru Outback without chains and had no issues on the road. I'm already looking forward to coming back!

So, the crowd was not bad and we got in at least 10-15 runs before the kids were cooked. Getting tickets was fine when we arrived at the opening time, parking was fine and never got full. Pros: Not really an overwhelming site , pretty simple with just 3 runs (one is a very tall one). Has some snow play space off to the side. Has magic carpet or lift. Not every tubing place does so I appreciated this! On site they sell boots and gear if you forgot. Food sold on site which is helpful. The usual fries and hot dogs etc for sorta high prices. Bathroom was clean and modern. Plenty of seating indoor and out. The outdoor deck is very exposed though. Nice view of a lake from the deck. It's an easy activity, doesn't require tons of gear, and relatively brainless compared to the skiing we were doing with our kids yesterday. Cons: I can see how this place must turn into lord of the flies on weekends. There's no attendant at the top, the top is very icy / not salted sufficiently, and nobody at the bottom. So, everybody is launching at random times, there's always stragglers loitering at the bottom and somebody is always getting knocked over by a tube coming down. They didn't seem to have great control of the folks on the magic carpet so instead they put up a ton of stanchions. It also isn't cheap. We had the benefit of coming on an uncommon weekday but if this involved longer lines or more chaos I wouldn't think it was worth it. Not all runs were open. They had both kiddie runs open for the first hour after opening then closed one without explanation. Pro tip: Bring your own helmets and goggles!
