Cabin 9. Yes, that floor is sloping downward toward the left.
    Fred B.

My wife and I and our two dogs recently spent two nights at cabin #9 at Dardanelle Resort. We have friends who invited us to visit them at their "off the grid" cabin at Kennedy Meadows, but since the kids were inviting others, we thought it may get too crowded, so we decided to find sleeping accommodations nearby. My wife found Dardanelle Resort online and booked a cabin. The resort in located in a beautiful spot in the Stanislaus National Forest and is across the road from a forest service campground of the same name. We checked in at the camp store and the clerk was helpful and friendly. I was glad to see that the store stocked items that guests may need, and there is also a gift shop, a restaurant open on weekends, and for the campers, there are restrooms, token operated showers, and a laundry room. The resort seemed full of people who brought their trailers and motor homes. Upon moving into our cabin, I observed that it had a lot of wear and tear, so I took numerous photographs to document that we did not cause the damage. The resort charges a $100/dog security deposit, although for some reason we were only charged $100 total. They keep 25% of it for a cleaning fee, and the posted rules state that if any dog hair is found on the bed, all of it will be forfeited. One of the teenage girls working in the store verified upon checkout that there was no dog hair on the bed, and the $75 security deposit was credited back to our credit card. After returning from Kennedy Meadows each day, we got a good night's sleep and the bed was comfortable. Like other reviewers have noted, the resort relies on a generator for electrical power. The generator is loud and runs day and night, although they may turn it off late at night. After a while, one tends to tune it out. But I thought the new generators these days, being EPA and C.A.R.B. certified, were quiet in operation. This one reminded me of the one at Boy Scout camp circa 1970. It seems different being in a room off the grid with no TV, radio, cell phone, or internet service. Our cabin didn't even have any reading material. A visitor's guide binder would have been helpful, with information about the resort and activities to do, and places of interest to explore. I love to watch HGTV and its shows about vacation rental fixer uppers. I kept thinking how it would be fun to see our cabin as the subject makeover property on one of those programs. The HGTV contractor and remodeling hosts would probably describe the cabin as a "down to the studs, total gut job," but that is subjective. The cabin may be just fine for many people, and if the resort can get $150/night for it as is, it probably will remain the same. I should note that it does have a smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector, fluorescent light bulbs, updated water and gas connector lines, and appears to meet minimum safety codes. I tried to post a few photos of the cabin to give prospective guests an idea of what they will be renting. This resort has a lot of potential and could easily rate more stars with some improvement.

New owners are bringing new energy and services to the Dardanelle Store. The addition of diesel fuel is much appreciated.

The event site is just beautiful with a fantastic built-in bar, tons of gorgeous trees, a great dance floor, and more. It provided the perfect place for us to have the ceremony and reception. I know the pictures are going to be fantastic. The icing on the cake is the staff. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They went above and beyond, and it made a huge difference in the entire wedding weekend. Robert was wonderful. He was so accommodating and helpful. That goes a long way as the mother of the bride trying to pull this whole event together. He supported me every step of the way. Thank you Robert! Juan was really great. He seemed to be just where we needed him whenever we needed him. He helped us with so many things that we were not expecting to be helped with and he did it all happily and willingly. Juan, you're the best! Sandra handled all of our room booking changes without complaint and with patience and care. Thank you Sandra! There was another woman on the phone who helped with reservations and answered countless questions happily, but unfortunately, I do not remember her name. You know who you are. Thank you again! Many of our guests are discussing holding future events there or just coming up to stay for several days. They loved it! We love you Pinecrest Chalet

We were looking for a safe and fun place for a family reunion. Somewhere I could actually bring all of our extended family.. Karl, our host disappeared after showing us all the amenities. He lives nearby and showed up swiftly when I had trouble lighting a fire in the living room. We had 6 kids that had their own suite area away from the adults. Thankfully there was wifi internet for them when they tired of playing outside. We had such a stellar time there at the historical wild west Avery hotel with no one looking over our shoulders ;) The big trees nearby were awesome too. My skiing fam hit the mountains not far away. Plus an Italian restaurant, a live entertainment bar, and cute lil coffee shop all in walking distance. The town of Murphy's was super cool also. I'm guessing they book up fast with the weddings and stuff. Don't hesitate!

It just feels like you stepped back in time and we really enjoyed that. Carl and all the staff connected with Avery Hotel have been nothing but accommodating to us. They were always willing to listen to any questions we had and were always checking in along the way. The freedom of the venue really pulls you in because it offered that blank canvas of possibilities and that is what we wanted because I love a challenge and had a very clear image of how I wanted my wedding to look like. Again, thank you Carl and staff for a beautiful and memorable venue.
