They recently changed the chicken fingers and they are not as good. They told me they were going for a more "all-natural" chicken. Whatever they switched to, it's not good. I don't nearly go there as much and neither do my friends (who get the chicken finger sandwiches too, call us a bunch of nerds). This last time I had a bug on mine. On a better note, the NF blvd seems to have the best roast beef, cut nice and not too fatty. Haven't had the same quality with the other ones. Occasionally I share my daughter's ice cream (cotton candy) with her and it has crystallized ice (too cold). Still, please change the chicken fingers back. This was not only my first time at an Anderson's, but also my husband's despite being a WNY native. It's definitely on the pricier end of the fast food spectrum, but you're paying for higher quality ingredients and homemade offerings. I've been to similar establishments in other states that did not have the ingredients to justify their prices. My husband and I each had hamburgers. They were definitely a cut above the usual fast food hamburger, and you do get a lot of bang for your buck. I can get a double cheeseburger at a typical chain and still be hungry whereas the single here is more than adequate. My sons shared chicken tenders. Those were pretty standard. The curly fries were just okay, and my husband swears he could tell they shared a fryer with fish. I like that the fountain drinks all have cane sugar. My husband had an extra small coffee milkshake he said was very good and just the right size. I wish their custard had an extra small option, too. It's so rich that a small was too much for me, but the flavor was great. The prices aren't that much more than ice cream shops that don't make their own ice creams and custard. read more

Neo from The Matrix and Pamela Denise opened this place, and never looked back. Anderson's is excellent. The portions are small and they're a tiny bit overpriced, so don't go if you're starving. But it's a fantastic place for kids. The Buffalo Chicken Tender Sandwich is juicy and delicious. The Roast Beef on Weck is not bad. The rest of the fare is good. The best BOW sandwich is at Charlie The Butchers by the airport, and a lot of the bars have good, big wholesome ones too (such as Audobon North near this Anderson's), but in terms of a good place to take kids, that has ice cream and kids stuff, this would definitely be up there. It has a bit of that kitch 50s thing going on, and I like that. Also, while I despise chains, this is a local chain (particular to Buffalo), much like Ted's or Avenue Pizza (I'm not mentioning Mighty Taco because I can't stand it, and it may as well be Taco Bell), and local chains are only one step below standalone local eateries on the "I can feel good about spending my money here" meter. I always got the Buffalo Chicken Tender Sandwich partly because it was cheap, and partly because it tastes damn good and the chicken is usually piping hot and juicy as hell. Utterly delicious, with the hot sauce and all. If there are 2 criticisms of this wondrous sandwich, one would be that their Buffalo sauce is more like straight Hot Sauce (or similar to Anchor Bar's or Duff's wing sauce) rather than being buttery, orangey and Buffalonian. The other would be that sometimes, at this location in particular, the lettuce they put on the sandwich is, for lack of a better word, congealed. When they get their veggies fresh, they turn me on a lot more. The Tully's Buffalo Chicken Tender Dinner is better than this Chicken Tender Sandwich, but it's 5 times the size and twice the price so if you want a little snack and somewhere that is kid friendly, bring them here. The girls that work in Tully's are hot, bartender-esque. The girls that work in Anderson's mostly look about 15. I think if you're over 15, you can't get hired here. You also can't watch sports on TV here, but then that's probably part of the appeal. Their frozen custard is pretty good. It's not Bill Grays but it will do just fine :) It's huge, it tastes great, and it's dirt cheap (especially compared to the food items). Anderson's is a Buffalo specialty. You won't get full on Anderson's, so you can hit this place and the Ted's next door in one trip if you want to sample Buffalo's 2 most famous local chains. You have to love those all-American places with the shakes and the burgers and the fast food ambience with the local-diner charm, with the summer opening hours and the 50s music and the jukebox and the low prices and the high school girls working there as their summer jobs and the families sitting in booths recreating Pleasantville. It's something you just can never recreate in any country other than the USA. I've seen other nations try it, but I've never seen it work. It's pretty much what America is famous for, food wise. Among other things. Pautler's does the kitch American fast food better than Anderson's, but they're in the same mold. Ish. read more

After we ate at Ted's Hot Dogs, we walked right next door to Anderson's and tried their infamous frozen custard. We both love ice cream, so we were excited to taste a premium "custard" made with egg yolks. We chose the Kahlúa and the vanilla/chocolate twist. The Kahlúa taste was very, very faint. We didn't expect a huge hit of liqueur, but my wife kept trying to figure out what it really tasted like. Both custards were smooth and creamy. We may try some other flavors if we pass by again. Huge props for now carrying plant-based flavors. The coconut chocolate almond and chocolate raspberry are creamy and delicious. The regular cones are vegan. Waffle cones are not. Of course, Anderson's is famous for their roast beef and there are plenty of familiar items on the menu. Alas, not even the veggie burger is vegan. Since this is a local chain near my hotel, I decided to try one of Buffalo's famous beef on weck and some of Anderson's frozen custard all at one location. The sandwich is like some kind of roll with salt chunks on top with roast beef. Pretty good, something new and interesting to try. A little too pricey and barely filling in my opinion. The frozen custard was very delicious though! They had different choices for frozen custard, frozen yogurt, ice cream ... Great place to take your kids out for cheap dessert. I had the chocolate and vanilla swirl frozen custard, which has a thicker consistency than frozen yogurt. Its more of a creamier and richer version of Costco's vanilla-chocolate frozen yogurt swirl, haha. Nothing super amazing. read more

I am really stuck between four and five stars for this establishment. It is extremely clean. Went with my boys for lunch and there was a good size crowd but plenty of seating available. They each got the chicken tender kids meal which was seven dollars apiece. That is pricey but it does come with a free small custard which was the reasoning we chose Anderson's. The reason I was thinking maybe only four stars is because I got the black bean burger which was just a morning star basic burger and it cost almost 7 dollars without any fries or anything. To me that is a little pricey and should come with a side. It was good though so that's why I ultimately went with five stars. If you are looking for a kid friendly lunch or dinner with a large menu choice I would recommend Anderson's. But don't leave without trying the custard read more

Came here while visiting town this month for nostalgia sake. I loved this place growing up, we would go at least once a week! Anderson's was always my favorite and I did prefer the location on Sheridan Blvd over any other. But this is what I was closest to on this particular day. It sure did hit the spot. Finally went for the first time today. It was really good! Service was friendly. Food was delicious! The asiago chicken wrap is to die for. The apricot mango whip was a huge hit with our children. People say go to Anderson's when you are in Buffalo, so when I found myself in Buffalo, I had to give it a try. Frozen Custard is just soft serve ice cream, and honestly, it tasted no different from dairy queen. However, they did have a greek yogurt soft serve which was excellent and an excellent choice and why I gave it 5 stars. The kids who work there couldn't have been nicer. We got there at 10:27, when they closed at 10:30 and they welcomed us and made us feel like they had all the time in the world to serve us. That was the best part! read more

I so badly want to give it a better rating, but I think the prices are sky high, and it is unbelievable that sundaes don't come with free whipped cream, sprinkles and at least one type of candy? I love this location because they have a drive-thru. While I do enjoy going to the one on Sheridan, especially because it's closer, both dogs (past and current) do not like other dogs. So sitting outside is not an option. The drive-thru is very efficient, I've never had to wait and the quality is just as good as if I was ordering inside and sitting down to eat. Staff are incredibly polite and of course, the food is delicious. I love the rolls, especially their kimmelweck! (My fave roll) This location serves Johnny Ryan soda and bottles of Pepsi products. So while I am happy they're a Pepsi restaurant, a little bummed they don't do fountain soda. They do have outdoor seating and I have been indoors when I haven't had the dog(s), it's very clean and well kept. Went to N. falls Boulevard Anderson's ordered a few sandwiches and they were delicious. Also ordered loganberry which tasted like water. Since I was really thirsty I went back and was told there was nothing wrong with it and it may be a brand that I am not used too! Asked when they switched brands. The response was they haven't. I've been drinking their loganberry for too many years to mention. Train you staff to not insult the customer. I did manage to resolve it by asking for root beer instead. read more

Bright, clean, and friendly.... with a great selection of sandwiches and sides (get the curly cue fries..... you're welcome)..... and an even better selection of sweet treats. I have been eating at Anderson's locations for at least 20 years, and used to frequent this location when I lived nearby. Anderson's has ALWAYS been overpriced, however, the food quality used to be good which kept me returning. Last night was the final straw (which should have been years ago for me). My wife and I were returning from visiting family, and Platters was closed, so Anderson's was our emergency ice-cream go to. 8 freaking dollars (7.70) for two of the SMALLEST, most laughable cups of half filled ice-cream. We could have got 2 big sundaes at most places for that price. I apologize for not taking a picture, as I wish I had now just to show how pathetic it was. I have always loved this place. When I moved away from Buffalo twelve years ago, this was one of the first places I knew I was going to miss. Their custard is out of this world; the perfect blend of sweet but also thick and not too heavy. But what is excellent about Anderson's is that every day they have a new flavor, something different, something to keep you coming back. When me and my girlfriend moved back to Buffalo this was the first place I told her we immediately needed to try. The flavor of the day happened to be black raspberry, which is my all-time favorite ice cream flavor. Carls choice Roast beef is always good. Surprisingly some of the best in the area. Side of Cheddar with the seasoned fries are a home run.

Never enjoyed Frozen custard so much till I got to buffalo and discovered Anderson's! My favority flavor is probably frozen custard pistachio flavor, the butter cream flavor is not something I personally would recommend. A true local treat and delicacy in the Western, NY/ Buffalo, NY region. Delicious Beef on Weck as it is called. Otherwise, known also as roast beef on a kilmmeiweck roll. It is unbelievable. The delicious taste of the roast beef on that very tasty roll is an absolute must taste if you are in Buffalo, NY. They serve the awesome curly Q fries as well, awesome indeed!! Being a former resident of the Upstate NY area for many years, I find that over the years, places like Anderson's are becoming harder and harder to find in the United States. It is a true local foodie place and trust me, after reading this review you will thank me because not just the delicious beef on weck but also the custard that is home made at Anderson's is delicious as well. Highly recommend their chocolate vanilla twist from this place, it is awesome. But back to the beef on weck, this place is great for it and has been known in the Buffalo area for a long, long time.
