We actually had a chicken cross the street to visit and get fries and such from the customers eating outside. The Andice General Store was recommended by several friends and the prior reviews were generally oustanding. Sadly, we were both surprised and disappointned in a rather lackluster meal. The hamburgers were nothing special at all, not bad, but the meat may have been freshly ground, but it tasted and appeared like frozen, as did the crinkle cut french fries. My wife liked the onion rings, but I thought they seemed to be much like frozen. It appeared that they could have been fried in oil that was too hot. We sort of like dives, and it qualified in that regard, and the service was prompt and friendly to be fair, but, all in all, we both thought it was far overrated and would probably not return. read more

We stopped for a burger, not our first trip for a burger, and decided to split one. The burgers are huge! They are so nice there, they split the burger and put each half in a basket with a very large order of fresh hot French fries plus all the extra sides (mayo, mustard, onions, pickles). I'm a huge fan of their BLT, love it with their french fries & something cold from their cooler! The BLT has awesome crispy bacon, mayo & crunchy lettuce on toasted bread. I haven't tried any of their other options because I always want the BLT when we visit. The staff is always so nice! Sure wish they were still open on Sundays but respect their choice to be closed. read more

We live about a mile up the street from here. The food is beyond delicious, and the employees are so sweet! Laura is by far one of the nicest ladies I have EVER met. I was not very impressed at all. The burger was decent at best. The onion rings were mushy and tasted like the outside of a corn dog.

Went there last Thursday for an early supper. Really neat experience for us "city kids". We both had the cheeseburgers with fried onions, fries and onion rings along with a TERRIFIC vanilla cream soda. The service was friendly and got our food in no time. The burgers were really big (had to cut them in half to eat them) and tasty ... the serving of fries was HUGE and both the fries and onion rings were tasty and even tasted good as a snack the next evening, since we brought them home :) Definitely worth the trip and enjoyed the ride in the country too. read more

Haven't been to the Andice General Store for some time, so we chose it for lunch today. The place is clean and the folks friendly. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, and my wife the regular burger. We also ordered fries and onion rings. All were cooked to perfection. The burgers are cooked on an old grill and have that old fashioned taste, and they are huge. The fries and onion rings were crisp and tasty. I also liked the variety of hard to find sodas. Had a Frostie Root Beer. Yumm. First time in years. I hughly recommend this place, and we're coming back soon. read more

This is a great little place my husband and I discovered on our way to a nearby shooting range. They had a sign right off 183 that says "Worlds Best Burgers" and it's about a mile down the road. I ordered the green hatch chile cheeseburger and my husband got the briskett sandwhich. I wasn't expecting much but it turned out to be very good! My husband ended up eating the other half of my burger. We both liked it better than the briskett sandwhich. We also ordered onion rings which we're good too. Worlds Best? I've visited many burger joints here in Texas and nothing beats Meskla Dos in Guam (my hometown) but that doesn't mean it wasn't good because we plan to visit regularly whenever we head out the range! read more

With recently moving to Lampasas, we have been wanting to try Andice General Store hamburgers for some time. And went there today. The hamburgers were among the best, if not the best, we've had. The meat, bun and veggies were perfect. The staff, the nostalgic building and the atmosphere were great. Since this is the second day of my retirement, we will now have the time to become regulars. Yep. A-OK. Not sure if its the bedizzle from the little "grocery store" that makes it "special" or what, but the geezers from Sun City sure love it. And I say "geezers" in the most kind way. They are always talking about going out there to split a burger. Had a Green Chili Burger from there, and it was A-Otay. So A-Otay is the word of the day for Andice. Don't say it wrong. Remember the accent mark is before the A. You have to say it like you're sneezing. Otherwise people from there (all 39) of them, will know you're not from there. read more

Huge cheeseburger with jalapenos gave it some zip! It's a two hander with custom bun. All fresh and tasty. I was happy with the amount of food for the money. Glad I came hungry because the cheeseburger was really good and filled me up. One in our party of five couldn't finish the burger. Basket of fries was way too much for another. He shared them. Service was good and friendly. My kind of place off the beaten path. Well worth the 300+ mile round trip. read more
