The experience was great right up until there was a problem, and then the service dropped off the deep end. Mistakes happen, but there is no reason to be a chump over it. Initially, all was well. We were enjoying our appetizers and wine, and the vibe of the restaurant was great. When our entrees arrived, the waiter realized that they had accidentally made a chicken dish instead of a veal dish for one of our party, so he took it back. The rest of us made the uncomfortable decision to start eating so that we could enjoy before it turned cold. I will say that my dish, some cheese ravioli in a cream sauce with sundried tomatoes, was delicious and very filling, which means leftovers because the portion was large. Eventually, the veal dish came, but we all finished at different times because of this. At no point during the dinner did a manager come over to apologize for the mix up or even acknowledge that there had been a problem. The check came with no mention of it. Encouraged by my dinner mates, I privately noted to the waiter that it seemed a little odd that one of us had to wait 15 minutes longer than the rest of us to eat because of the restaurant's mess up. His response was simply, "I don't think it was 15 minutes. I think it was more like 10." Then, after a brief pause, "What can I do about it?" Ok, fine. He eventually came back with the check and made a point to let us know that the dessert we shared was comped, but the attitude was already noted. It was a sad ending to an otherwise good meal. read more

Stayed in Providence For a little get away and was recommended by 4 people to go to here. Sat at the bar, glad we did, M.J. and Val took care of us. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME bartenders. Joked with us all night, payed perfect attention, suggested amazing dinners. The food was incredible, I can honestly say I haven't had a Chicken Saltimboca this good in years( and I'm in the restaurant Industry) we had drinks, apps,dinners, desserts, and after dinner drinks, ask MJ to make you her espresso Martini. One of my favorite Italian restaurants! I usually get a sangria they have about 15 different fresh options! I switch up what I order but most recently I got pink vodka gnocchi with grilled chicken and a cup of soup to start. Everything came out hot, fast, and delicious! Chicken was very tender and the pink vodka sauce had a sweet taste and it was thick, not all soupy like some places serve it. The place is a bit pricey but to go here and there it's totally worth it! read more

My husband and I travel a lot for his job and always like to try local places. Andino's was walking distance from our hotel so we decided to give it a try!! And we can't wait to go back!! I give it 5 stars bc nothing was bad. Service was GREAT!! Our waitress was kind, helpful, and not annoying. She came by when needed but didn't linger and made awesome, honest recommendations not just trying to sell the most expensive thing on the menu. They had a special cocktail available (blue raspberry sangria) which was pricy but 100% worth it!! Like a large elegant "fish bowl" in a wineglass :) DELISH!! The garlic olive oil dipping sauce for bread was even unique and amazing!! Caesar salad was on point. And lastly our meals were awesome and large portions!! Yes they are much larger than what you should eat in a sitting but it also makes you feel like you got a deal!! Prices are VERY reasonable and large portions. We didn't mind the tight quarters as we respect "mom and pop" atmosphere. Probably not a place for a large party. First restaurant I've been to since covid times where the server approached the table by saying we had a time limit.... When we weren't ready to order apps she reiterated it again... when we debated her on it she was extremely condescending saying "what do you want to stay here all night" At that point she brought the manager over who was of no help which led us to leave after our drinks. I get theres other reservations we weren't asking for special treatment but not the right way to approach as a server! Will never come here again! read more

Honestly it could just be us but we do not think this place deserves a 4 stars on yelp (as that's the current rating on yelp now). First of all, the server wasn't quite responsive. She came check in with us about three times throughout the dinner but did not notice we had finished our first glass of water since she came by the first time. Regardless the service, the food was below average. We wanted to explore Italian food here in providence which was one of the things they known for (correct me if I am wrong). We ended up finding this place on yelp and think it must be pretty decent since it's 4 stars on yelp with about 400 reviewers. However, it was a total disappointment. My clam pasta came with limited amount of sauce (it was quite tasteless when I got to the end of the plate). Thumbs up for the generous food portion, but let's be real... you can give me a bucket of pasta but if it is tasteless.. it doesn't really mean anything. My boyfriend was the one who got the chicken dish.. can't contribute much comments on that since I only had one bite, but from that one bite.. it tasted like boiled chicken with tomato sauce. Anyways, enough hating. Would I recommend this place to friends & families. Solid No. Hope I have better luck on Italian food next time I visit providence again lol read more

We parked on a side street a block away for Free Street Parking. We went here for dinner this past summer. I asked our server Carolina who was so Nice & extremely helpful - What's the best thing to order here since we had never been at the restaurant before. She recommended The Chicken Francaise which is Chicken in an Egg Wash, Lemon, Butter, White Wine. It was DELICIOUS! She also recommended the Chicken Parmigiana which is breaded & lightly fried Topped with Mozzarella & Red Sauce. & a Side of Pasta with Red Sauce. It was also DELICIOUS! It's very hard to find Old School Italian Authentic Red Sauce these days; everything is Nuevo. We got 2 WINNERS for DINNER thanks to Carolina! We split the dessert Home Made Cannoli which was Good. Went for the Sangria tasting, $10---all you can drink Sangria with a huge variety of yummy fruity flavors. Stood in line for 2 hours to get in, so here is the trick I found out after I got in. 1. Get there by 3pm 2. Find a friend to get there for 3pm, get a table, then whenever you arrive you can go right in, never stand in line 3. Show up at 7:30pm, no one is in line and you still have an hour and a half to drink Upon finally getting a table, the tasting was awesome, more of a huge glasses of sangria vs a tasting. They give you a solo cup and you go up as many times as you like. The kiwi and strawberry sangria was my favorite but there were so many others that were fantastic as well. They do offer a red sangria and one other made with red wine but mainly the white fruity kinds. We got calamari which was good, nothing amazing though so I would try something different next time, was pretty bland. I got the special which was baby shrimp, cheese tortellini, in a pink Alfredo sauce. Huge portion and great flavor. Walked from the Omni to find this gem. Very friendly, large menu. I sat at the bar and chatted with a very nice lady. Made the experience that much better, she was a regular and very friendly. I need to start by saying our waitress and the rest of the staff were all quite pleasant. Unfortunately nothing else about our visit was even remotely decent. My husband and I were seated at a table that was a "4-seater" split into two "2-seater" tables...we were at the "inner" table sandwiched between the former other half of our table and the wall. By no means was the restaurant packed where this would have been necessary to accommodate the number of guests. Did I mention we were also right next to the bussing station and bathroom? This was easily the worst seating arrangement I've ever been in. Our $6 "garlic bread" was anything but. It was 3.5 slices of burnt bread, one of which had something resembling garlic butter on it. After an incredibly long wait for our food I considered leaving but was far too hungry to find somewhere else to eat. My manicotti was very tough and the sauce was incredibly bland and oddly sweet. Should I find myself in Providence again, I will be going no where near Andino's. read more

Well it starts with the hostess, Mary, getting you a table for 3 by rearranging the restaurant because the people who had your table have not left. she then comps the first round, and decides she should personally take care of us all evening, from appetizer thru desert. We were in Providence for The Christmas Carol play at the Trinity Rep and like do many others, headed over to Federal Hill for supper. So many choices just like Boston's North End or the resurgence in down town Haverhill. So we stopped in Andinos with their convenient and efficient valet parking. So good, I topped him twice. I have great respect for restaurateurs, their food and the people they hire to serve us. My first impression is this is a jam packed, crowded bar and table area. We had to walk sideways past the bar and staff on their computers and then into the main area where table and chairs are smashed against adjacent tables and chairs. You can't have a better server than Laura who knows everything and is happy to share it. She immediately provided us with clean and extensive menus. If you're into sangria, they are experts. My niece loved hers. Laura was quick to take our orders. She brought a small basket of fresh sliced Italian bread but an uninspired saucer of average Olive oil. I ordered the eggplant parmesan. Now I've had this same dish at other Italian restaurants; chain restaurants and local. Usually thick discernable slices. Andinos serves very thin grey slices covered in a chewy cheese covering I had to strip off. I found the tasty tomato sauce starting to separate. I had a side order of pasta that was excellent. For dessert, I had the spumoni. Spinning should, in my opinion, come with claret sauce. Unless this is a Providence thing, it shouldn't come with a minute drizzle of grenadine. It was just okay. So, atmosphere is colorful and bright, wait staff for us was a standout, valet parking a plus but for food, just okay. I don't get to Providence very often but I think if there are other Italian restaurants in that Street, I'll try them before coming back here. read more

Great place for a traditional Italian lunch! The restaurant is in a great location on Atwells Ave and nicely decorated inside. I stopped by for a late lunch and got the linguini and clams in white wine sauce - it was TONS of food for only $11. There were lots of clams, which were a bit chewy but otherwise good. Could have used some extra salt as well (had to add lots of salt and parmesan cheese). I also liked the bread and seasoned olive oil it came with. Portions are large and great for sharing. There's a $2.50 charge for splitting, but you get your own individual bowl so it's well worth it!! Theresa recommended the Strawberry Elderflower sangria which was amazing. She also recommended the fried calamari appetizer. It is served with hot peppers in a special sauce.
