I had the luck of finding this place maybe 6 months ago. Since then I have been numerous times -- whenever I visit Boston I make sure to make the trip. I am always treated like family. The first time I went the wait was 1.5 hours so I wandered around federal hill and was so glad I waited. For me, this is the best Italian food I have ever had hands down. They also have amazing vegetarian options. Impossible to overstate how flavorful the food is but the way they treat you there is also so special. Traipsing in one blustery icebergish dusk, we were warmly greeted and invited to a 'metsa metsa' table snack dab in the middle; it was fairly slow early - but not the corner booth we'd requested in advance for our getaway. But with our perky server (Andrea, I believe) and Camillo hovering nearby, why quibble? As we perused the menu, we noticed a lively bar scene, older men chatting, like something one might find in Verona or Naples. For wine lovers, the choices are intriguing; I went with the distinctive Brancaia "Tre" after requesting a sample; a robust red with a complex, earthy finish. My wife, a martini lover, rather enjoyed her Bellini Martini but fretted its modest size. As from the world class service, two positives remain from the evening: first, a fabuloso Eggplant Rolatini - delicate eggplant smothered in zesty pasta sauce and draped with copious amounts of Mozzarella cheese; and second, the world class Broiled Stuffed Icelandic Cod. If you think that sounds intriguing, it is: a hefty Cod filet above a nice serving of home-made stuffing drenched in a rich, aromatic tan sauce. Dessert, Spumoni and Tiramisu formed a nectary finish. But, alas, being asked to clear out by 6pm to make space for a large group was a distinct turnoff. Sigh, turning a pleasing setting into one much less so. Forgot our masks but the manager said he had masks for us which was great we didn't have to walk back to the car on a cold Saturday night. I noticed there was two seats open at the bar so we decided to sit there. They did have plastic dividers between every two seats and between us and the bartenders. We started with a bottle of Malbec and then ordererd a hot antipasto which was very good. I've never even seen a hot antipasto as an option on any menu. We moved on with entrees, Salmon and Chicken Francise (sp?) both were delicious! I'm very glad to have some leftovers for today! We will definitely go back. I spent a few nights in Rhode Island and this was the first restaurant we visited - it turned out to be our favorite! Andino's is located in the small Little Italy section of Providence which has many Italian restaurants which all look amazing. I loved the ambience inside - it's your typical upscale dining experience with dimmed lights and a friendly atmosphere. There are still clear plastic dividers in between each table which gives you a sense of privacy which is nice. The waiter was excellent and gave us honest opinions about various options on the menu. We were served our drinks and had enough time to decide on our dinners. I opted for the Veal Saltambocca while my friend went with a simpler option - cheese ravioli! We were both very pleased with our meals. I thought the veal was delicious. I usually am not a fan of extra mushrooms, but I was still very pleased with my choice. For dessert, my friend had a NY Cheesecake and I ate a homemade cannoli. How can you note choose to eat a homemade dessert at an Italian restaurant?! Of note, the cheesecake was also great. Is driving to Providence for Italian food worth it? Oh, YES!!!! I've been going to Andino's for years. I just can't detour from my usual; calamari for my appetizer and linguini with white clam sauce for my appetizer. I did splurge with tiramisu for dessert on my last visit. The parking on Atwells Avenue can be tricky so the valet service is very convenient and will save you money for parking. The calamari is lightly breaded, fried and has garlic butter added as a nice touch. Sometimes I'm tempted to get two orders and just have that for dinner!!! For dinner, the calamari with white wine sauce is a healthy portion and VERY tasty. I like the fact that they have chopped clams AND some opened around the dish. My significant other had the veal Parmesan. Very healthy portion and I was told that the meal was delicious, the veal was cooked well and was very tender. You choose your pasta for your side order. The tiramisu was soooo good. I'm sure all of their desserts are. It's nice to know that great Italian food is available. It's just a drive away. All meals walking by look great. read more

Either my appetite was not as big as when I was younger or the fact that we New Yorkers just expects smaller portion for the price we pay. We had to take our leftovers to go because this is more of a 2-3 people servings. The main reason I really wanted to come here is to try the lobster ravioli. They only have it for appetizer during lunch and I wish they have it for entree cause it was just that amazing. They have different sauce for the lobster ravioli and I ordered mine with pink sauce. We had a great dinner here for our last night in Providence! They were able to seat us as a walk-in on the back patio immediately. The outside was pleasant with music playing. Our waiter Karan gave us great service and was genuinely kind. We also appreciated his right hand man who refilled our waters and cleared our dishes in a timely manner. Their also really old school Italian- which means the menu doesn't change too frequently & that's not an issue here! That's what we love about it! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was flavorful and very citrusy. I accompanied this dinner with a glass of J.Lohr, red instead of white you ask!? Unusual, but It was perfect as i paired bites from my tables medium rare Veal specials which were Cooked to Perfection! Also had a bite of the chicken parm which was hearty and yummy; a classic that won't fail you. I highly recommend getting something you usually wouldn't! Tried the tiramisu and the limoncello desserts, both were great, limoncello took the table win. The price points were ~$19-45. If you're considering going to the Cheesecake Factory, DON'T! Give this local joint a chance it will blow your cheesecake socks off and stays around the same price range. Veal took the trophy this go around. Dinner for 6 + appetizers + 2 bottles of wine ~$400 dinner. 3 stars was given instead of four due to the long waits for our servers to come around and make their rounds. It didn't take an eternity, but it wasn't very timely, given that there's a staff shortage and patience is applied in all situations. Other than that's the experience was great! read more
