    Homemade corned beef hash
    Rick R.

First, if we could give 1/2 stars, this is a 3 1/2 star review. My friend and I met for breakfast here, as it gas become his go-to, so I wanted to try the place. I would describe it as a typical family restaurant, and it looked pretty clean. I don't know if they are open for dinner, since we only had a breakfast menu. The specials on the board also looked breakfast-focused. We both ordered the homemade corned beef hash with eggs over medium, hash browns, and wheat toast. Everything was cooked perfectly and plated well, but I would have liked some/more seasoning on the hash browns, and my preference is for the corned beef hash to have some chunkier pieces, so it doesn't look canned. Our server was busy, but she spent quite a bit of time chatting and catching up with customers at the table next to us, while our food sat, waiting to be picked up from the kitchen. We know this because she made a beeline for the kitchen and brought our food. My friend told me they turn the food out quickly, so he pointed out that our order was waiting to be picked up while she was talking to the table next to us. The bottom line is I liked the food enough to go back and try something else. Corned beef hash is one of my go-to's to compare restaurants, as long as it is made in house. It wasn't among the best I've had, but it was good enough to earn another visit.

I was headed down to South Milwaukee for Black Friday shopping and left early enough to stop somewhere for breakfast. The two breakfast place bookmarks I had in that area didn't look appealing that morning, so I checked Yelp hoping to find a third option. I saw pictures of breakfast burritos from Andreas, so that also meant I could continue my quest to find the best breakfast burrito around. I ordered the sausage, bacon, and cheese burrito with hash browns and a short stack of pancakes. The pancakes were sizeable compared to what size you'd think a short stack would be based on the name. I thought they were perfectly fluffy while still being substantial. They had only the slightest hint of sweetness without syrup, which could be good or bad depending on how sweet you prefer pancakes to be. Overall, I enjoyed them, but wouldn't have complained if they were a little sweeter. The hash browns were underwhelming. They were warm, not hot, and seemed like they had only been on the grill long enough to get the lightest touch of color beyond white on top with no color on the bottom or throughout. I suggest either getting the fruit option for the side or ask that they cook the hash browns on both the top and bottom. The burrito was perplexing. Only the top side was grilled, which seems sort of lazy. If you're going to grill it at all, why not grill both sides? The inside looked very omelette like and the shape was thin and flat instead of more cylindrical like you'd expect a burrito to be. I wouldn't count it among my favorite breakfast burritos, but I'd consider getting it again.

I usually get served by a younger guy, but have had a few other servers from time to time. They have all been great. Friendly, attentive. No complaints. Food - Fresh and hot. It's a diner, so I'm not expecting them to reinvent the wheel. I am getting exactly what I'm expecting and it's been great every time. Price - More than fair. I'm spending under $30 for two coffees and two meals. That is a steal in Bay View. Environment - Relaxed and always clean. I've been there several times a year for the past few years, but not enough to be a regular. I am always treated well as a walk in customer. This is a great restaurant. I've recommended it to many friends and family!

Great food, friendly service, and fast turnaround. I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Well, because it's not! Inside the place was hopping with a nice crowd of people. Still was able to get in and seated immediately. Place decorated for 4th of July and wasn't gaudy but fun. Lots of wood and you can sit at the bar if you want. Nice selection on the menu but since it was Friday we ordered the fish. Hubs had the fried cod and I had the baked. Portions totally filled your plate and were very good. Fried cod came with lots of fries which Hubs said were tasty and the baked cod came out served with rice and vegetables. Cole Slaw wasn't good but that seemed the only real issue. For some reason they served a slice of marbled rye with the fried fish but I don't think that's necessary. Prices for fish were really good and I think if you had gone to a higher end restaurant you would have paid around $10 more for the same dish. Overall a good experience and I'd come back again if we're in the area.

My family was flying back home on a Friday night and I had to pick them up from the airport in Milwaukee, so I needed dinner somewhere nearby. Final Approach has an all you can eat beer battered cod special on Friday nights, so that was my choice. I went with potato pancakes for the side. Both the potato pancakes and beer battered cod were fine. I've had better versions of both elsewhere. For an all you can eat option, though, it was more than adequate, especially by the airport as it would be busy enough without the AYCE option. Likely I'll try somewhere else if I find myself in the area on Friday night again.

The prices are reasonable and the amount of food to me is perfect. You don't get an overload, you get enough with some leftovers at times. We were there for breakfast and they have a person that he comes around asking if you need more coffee. More restaurants need this type of employee. One of my pet peeves is not getting asked if I need more coffee. I am not one to sit and drink a pot, but I will want a second cup. He also cleans the tables, but he makes sure everyone is served first. The servers are so darn nice, they all have smiles and are honestly there to help and serve you. It is a change from what is in other restaurants. Breakfast, depending on what you get, you get a choice of potato or pancake. He had 2 eggs over medium, bacon, you get 4 pieces made just as we like, and hashbrowns. I got homemade cornd beef hash, American fries, 2 eggs over medium. The server asked if we wanted to add onion to the potatoes, and yes of course we do. You also get your choice of toast, they have several types of bread, or pancake. The eggs were made to perfection as was everything else. I was a bit surprised to get asked for potato as corned beef hash has potato in it, but there was not a lot of potato, it was a lot of corned beef and it definitely was home made. Their hours are Monday closed, Tues-Thurs 8-2:30, Fri 8-8, Sat and Sun 6:30-2. We were there Sunday at around 10 and when we left it was getting busy. We did stop by last month for lunch, he had a reuben and I had a tuna melt, both were fantastic. The service was great as always also.
