This place is a relic of days gone by, which normally is super exciting to me. It looks like the decor hasn't changed in 40 years. There is still a cigarette machine (A CIGARETTE MACHINE) at the front of the place (although cigarettes are now $14.00, not 25 cents). There is a woman who might be one of Marge Simpson's sisters, with a gravelly voice and snarky attitude to match, who sits at the front desk. My date, who has been visiting all his life, says the menu hasn't changed in 20 years. All signs point to me thoroughly enjoying this time warp. Meh - maybe I'm not a greek fan? Not sure. I ordered the chicken souvlaki. Portion was huge - two large skewers of chicken - too much for me to eat. Unfortunately, the chicken was underdone, which is always a turnoff for me and all too common with souvlaki - so I only picked at the well done bits on the outside. The souvlaki came with a generous portion of rice, vegetables, and tzatsiki and weirdly the largest, puffiest piece of garlic toast I have ever seen. So - I didn't go hungry. The house white wine was OK. So yeah, it was all OK. But I wasn't in raptures, either. Our server was very attentive - almost too attentive - wanting to know what we wanted to order no more than 15 seconds (literally) after we'd sat down. Given the pure kitschiness of it all, I'd be up for trying it again, but might choose something else from the menu? I order food here at least once a month for delivery when I'm at work. Last night I got the souvlaki. I couldn't decide if I wanted beef or chicken so they gave me one of each. Thank you. I asked for no rice since I'm cutting down on carbs and they sent an extra Greek salad at no extra charge. I loved that. Thank you again. The meat was cooked perfectly and juicy. Again happy. They're really trying to step up their game. I only wish I could order vegetables like broccoli or spinach or something like that with my food. If I could give zero stars I would. I placed an order for delivery. I was told it would be one hour. Two hours later, no order. I commonly go here with my dad because he enjoys this place very much. The meat here is cooked just right for his taste. Which is handy in this case because he loves a good meal. I usually have lasagna with a huge piece of garlic toast. The lasagna is way too big for the price but it tastes amazing! I find that all of their pasta meals taste great and are reasonably priced. The service here is nice, just like service should be--except sometimes forgetful. We had a waiter once who kept saying he was getting our water, but never did. My father ended up going up to the front counter and getting the water himself! He was, after all, tired of waiting. I wouldn't quite recommend this place for a date. Dad wanted to go here for his birthday. Had eaten here probably 2 times in my life before. What really turned me off was how the owner and manager (2 separate people) were poorly treating their staff members. Food is okay tasting and the portions were huge! So I'll give them credit for that. What pissed me off was I took my food home and they took 5 hours to pack it and settle up our bill (not really, but we had to wait fairly long because the waitress made a mistake on our bill and took longer to fix it). DO NOT EAT HERE Hi everyone, I feel it may be an important concern to share about the health and safety of those who may have eaten or plan to eat here. My partner and I have been good customers at Andrea's family restaurant in North Vancouver for a couple years now-usually ordering delivery. Upon our last two experiences we had not only terrible service, but MOLDY FOOD. We ordered our usual meals, which come with tzatziki, as it's a Greek style restaurant. Opened our food and saw nothing but this smelly, dark green fuzz on our tzatziki. We called back to inform them of this nasty mishap. After a huge struggle and being told we were lying about this, we texted a pic to the manager and finally got a credit for a free cheese bread and cheesecake. Great. So we order the following week, explaining our previous experience and how we have a couple of complimentary items..again being told we are lying, then being told "if you don't like our food then don't order from us anymore!" We recorded this convo. Anyways we work it out and get our food delivered about 2 hours later. We eat our meal and get to the cheesecake. Upon opening, what do we see? MOLD. AGAIN. I'm not sure how this could possibly happen more than once, but I believe these people are intentionally keeping spoiled food to serve to customers they are displeased with. It's disgusting, and our toddler eats with us as well. Had these people gotten any of my family sick, I don't know what we would do. I have attached photos from each occasion. Giving this place a 5/5 for what it is. A restaurant stuck in time, a blast from the best, huge portions for bargain prices, friendly waitress. I didn't expect much from the food, but it was all pretty damn good. My starter Caesar salad had an unusual amount of dried oregano spice mix on top. I was a bit taken aback, but then I tasted it. The dressing was great and there was plenty of it and it was well-tossed. Good sized portion as well. My son's ham & cheese grilled sandwich was awesome apparently (he loved it and my wife said it tasted great), I tried the fries and they tasted great and were lightly coated. Daughter devoured the spaghetti with meat sauce although she doesn't like lamb so she passed on the meatballs (but for me, the lamb was a pleasant surprise, was expecting beef). The calamari was good, a bit under salted but easily fixed with a little table salt. Greek salad was good, rice and potatoes as well. Wife's Cajun chicken Caesar was good. Lots of croutons, too much for her, I finished it off. I left feeling completely stuffed after trying a bit of everything. Now about the prices. We just ate there as a family of 4, huge meals with 2 salads to start, all came to under $40 with taxes. The spaghetti with meat sauce and lamb meatballs was something like $6.50... My calamari with rice, potatoes, greek salad was around $8.50. My wife's Cajun Chicken Caesar salad was under $10 I think. My son's ham & cheese sandwich with fries was under $10. BE WARNED BEOFRE COMING HERE! Well I don't think I will ever come back here... or allowed to at this point. Let's start off with the food. We got a the Greek platter and 2 orders of the spanakopita dishes which all came with a Greek salad. The meat was SO burnt it was black. The calamari was soggy and not crunchy/crispy at all. The Greek salad had ROTTEN onions in it and to be sadly honest the spanakopita were actually not that bad. We call the restaurant back and get put on a really long hold and took forever for someone that could help us get a refund for our food because the food was rotten and burnt. When we finally got through to someone they were very rude and seemed to not believe that there food was gross. We offered to drop by the restaurant and show the owner out food and get a refund for it. When we get there the owner is super loud and rude, and we are trying to show him the food nicely but starts ripping through the containers. Tells us "omg one onion come on it's nothing" even though it was MULTIPLE ONIONS and it was ROTTEN!!!! It shouldn't matter how many pieces of onions it is. He also says the calamari is supposed to be like that and it's "fresh" clearly not. And says the burnt meat is fine and that we are over exaggerating!! He threw the money at me and said take it I even gave you $1 extra from the meal and never come back. This is amazing how he literally told us we can not come back even though we did nothing wrong and the food was horrible. The service is horrid and really don't understand why people eat here. Would rather eat at Antoli's which is a few blocks away! Hopefully they go through some major changes in there food standards and costumer service. read more

Over the years I've really enjoyed the delivery from Andreas Restaurant.. Occasionally it has been hit and miss regarding quality, but overall a good experience. But today I ordered a pizza, they forgot to add an extra topping before cooking it so they decided to just add it on top after the fact. I called the restaurant and asked for the manager to let them know. The person on the phone said that there wasn't a manager and was hung up on. I then called back expecting to get a different individual and asked the same question. Then they hung up on me right away. I had to drive to the store to speak to the owner. I ordered by phone for delivery and was told 1 hr for delivery. After waiting for 1 hr and 45 min I called was told I did not order from them. The owner was not helpful(suggesting I order again) I visited the restaurant personally to get an explanation showing my phone record directly to them but to no avail. I was met with another excuse that I my order was returned undelivered when I was at home the entire time waiting.The owner was beligerent and unproffessional and frankly could not give a damm. I;ve been here over 25 times since the eighties . Its got large portions, the pizza has lots of cheese, the ribs and steak come with a whole lasagna! Unfortunately its so hit and miss. Best to only go when your drunk, for some reason its usually pretty good then. The service is always shitty but I think that's probably because the owners and the staff are all crack pots! Some nights it can be so bad its comical. The lady who owns the place might not be a lady, she has the deepest voice I,ve ever heard. When she starts yelling at the staff her greek accent gets stronger. Around that time order some shots and you might think you've been dropped onto the set of a David lynch movie! Andreas Restaurant has great food ...everytime we have ordered from Andreas we have had great food ...What really disappointed us was the terrible delivery driver ...When the delivery driver brought the food which costn $ 29.00 we gave him 40.00 dollars ..The driver said he had no change ....Then he wanted credit card ...We told the driver No, and said ,what are we suppose to do ....The driver said ,he only had a 50.00 and $ 100.00 ...Then we said to the driver ,he would have to go get change ...So 15 minutes later the driver came back with the food and with chnage ...We are very upset with this kind of service and demand the situation be handled ....Hopefully this never happens to anyone again ...It almost felt like we would have been force to give $ 12.00 tip ,if we didnt demand the delivery driver get change .. This definitely isn't a place I would recommend for a first-date or special occasion unless you have been here before and come here specifically for the food. The place is pretty dated looking and the tableware isn't very nice. The service is hit and miss I think... my parents are regulars here, so they get treated really well. Twice when I've come here for lunch, however, I've had to wait a long time to be seated despite the fact that the restaurant was pretty empty. What keeps me coming back to Andreas is the food and the value. The baked ravioli and lasagna are reeallly good and you get a lot for $9.95... I always leave with a doggy bag. The lasagna on the lunch menu is even cheaper... $5.99 I believe? It's a smaller portion than the one on the dinner menu but still a good size. The garlic bread is huge... it's greasy but good. I also enjoy their pizza. I've never had their Greek food but it seems to be popular and is also a good value. They are open till 3:00am and deliver, which is really convenient. read more

The food was mediocre at best. I wouldn't go back, as the lamb was very dry and not flavourful. I couldn't finish the meat because it was just so dry. Someone else at my table ordered a different lamb dish, and he also said the lamb was not flavourful. I guess I should've ordered the pizza. The service was friendly but it seemed there were not enough servers because we sometimes didn't see a waitress for 20 minutes. The food used to be awesome, classical really. The last 2 times I have been here, the food has gone downhill as in: very bland, using sauce for flavour (too much) and garlic loafs (massive!) instead of slices of garlic bread. Salad, you ask? I had a green salad with my meal and got a bowl of lettuce, nothing else, just lettuce. It wasn't even fresh lettuce. The service though, is terrible. This is second time in a row we were met with staff that was not enthusiastic at all to see more people walk in the door. And then it went downhill.... There were only a few tables in the restaurant but they were out of menus so we had to share 1 after waiting for 15 minutes for water and a greeting from our server. I quickly realized helpings ourselves from other tables was easier than asking a server. We asked to try one of the house wines that they offered but actually didn't even have. Only 2 people received their meals, the others weren't ready so we politely waited for all the dishes. When the steak and potatoes came out and we asked for a steak knife we were informed that were out. Really? A steak with a butter knife...? How about some fixings for our baked potato, prepare for another 10 minute wait. I could go on but I will stop. It's so bad it's almost entertaining. I am from Calgary and I eat here each time I visit Vancouver (2-3 times per year) Food quality is very good. Portions are good size, and the Greek dishes are authentic. My family really likes the free loaf of take home bread you get when you settle the tab. Really enjoy coming here. Many years ago we used to either dine in or order the big platter coming with the coupon discount by mail. And we've been pretty satisfied 2-3 times. Not anymore. Since we discovered the last 2-3 times (this was several years ago) the Greek salad partially frozen and most of the food looking like not too fresh, like something someone pulled out from the freezer just minutes ago. They also had some problems with their personal over there, I don't know. Once the guy I was talking with over the phone was very rude and asked me to pay in advance, don't know why. This was my first time ordering and it will be a very long time until I do that again! Starting with the phone lady who, to be fair was in training, seemed like she was on a broken phone that's how difficult it was to get her to understand 1 pizza, 1 wings and 1 souvlaki. 1. the pizza was soggy and salty. There is lots of potential but really lazy slap it together quality. 2. I ordered chicken souvlaki, the rice was overdone and gluggy, the salad was dry and the cucumbers tasted old and worst of all...the potato was strait up ROTTEN. As soon as opened the container I was horrified by the smell. Thankfully I was able to dump the potato and any food touching it - but still seriously gross! 3. the chicken wings were drowning in sauce, which made me wonder if they were rotten as well and soaked in sauce to cover it up? We'll see, if we end up in emergency I'll know why. The waitress a middle aged over tanned lady wearing pigtails like and aged Britney Spears was angry at me when I mentioned I was allergic to fish and asked if he seafood portion of the platter a few of us were sharing could simply be put on a separate plate. When i politely reminded her before the food came out she said she forgot and it was too late for her to do anything about it. She never stopped by the table again. There were four of us and dishes piled. We waited a half an hour and she didn't come by finally we went up to the front paid and got out of there. This place is desperately in need of a visit by Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. I've eaten at Andrea's maybe twenty or so times over the years, and there has been a clear decline in the food quality and the service. It was quite the restaurant to go to in the 1970's and 80's, but they haven't changed to keep up with the times. They are capable of putting out good food -- I suspect that if you're having a special event there, they'll put in the extra effort and you won't be disappointed. But in the last few years there have been too many times where I'm one of only two or three customers in the restaurant, I wait an hour for my food, and it's cold when it gets to me. The pizza can be quite good, but all too often the crust is mushy and the toppings all just slide off of it, leaving you with something resembling pizza soup. It's unfortunate, given that the North Shore is pretty barren when it comes to quality pizza. I know there has been a shift in management from the older generation to the younger. It's clear that whatever attention to detail that was present under Mr. Andrea Sr. has gotten lost under his son or nephew or whoever is now in charge. It's a shame, because it really is one of those North Vancouver legacy-type establishments. read more

We decided to try them for the first time last night. We ordered the Greek Platter which sounded great because of the quantity of food we were getting for the price. My wife took a couple of bites and left the rest to me. I couldn't tell the difference between the different meats, but they definitely were not beef and lamb, more like buffalo and rat. The calamari is just wrong, hey I still have most of it in the fridge if you want to try it for yourself. Its just going to end up in the garbage anyways. I've ordered often. I like the food but the service is horrible. If you order delivery you're lucky if you get it within an hour. Every single time I order they get something wrong. Make sure you always check your order because something will be missing. Doesn't matter if you're picking up, delivery or dining in they are consistently terrible. I'll not be ordering from them again, it's not like there aren't other places around.
